I would have given this place 5 stars had it not been for the lacking in service. The servers were kind enough but our waitress had NO idea about the menu.. She couldn't tell us how it was or what it was made of. In her defense, she did say that she was in training but I would have made more of an effort to try the items, at least! Some appetizers were off taste-wise or, even worse, undercooked, but our entrees were delicious. I was a visitor in this wee town, and vegan at that. This was one of the only places super close to where I was staying that was completely vegan, so I was excited to try it. My boyfriend and I arrived at 5:45pm to a nearly empty restaurant. The hostess approached still on the phone and did not make eye contact. Once she was off the phone, we had to prompt her to speak to us as she was still looking down. She informed us that It would be a TWO AND A HALF HOUR wait before the next table for 2 would open up. Let me reiterate...the place was dead. I made a comment on the amount of empty tables and she said "those are reserved for people coming in at 6." So...at 6pm the entire town of New Hope, PA comes into a vegan restaurant...? Anyway, we said cool we'll reserve a table and come back. When we arrive the hostess remembered us, and was polite but not exactly friendly. We were sat at a table under a vent (it was 30 degrees outside) and my boyfriends menu literally blew off the table when the waitress came over. Again, the waitress was polite, but not very friendly. As a mostly vegetable eating person who enjoys eating good food, I was not impressed with the dishes I ate here. We had the Eggplant and Black Lentil Curry and Kakaige Udon from the "large plates" (spoiler alert: they're not large) and an oyster mushroom dish as an appetizer. Everything was edible but nothing was "good." I would have enjoyed eating a fresh loaf of bread with butter immensely more than the very mediocre (and ridiculously overpriced) meal here. We are vegan and also gluten free. Menu was 100% vegan and everything gf was labeled on the menu so it was awesome from the start. I ordered the tempeh and my daughter had the jerk grilled tofu and a side of mushrooms. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Sunday, March 24 was our second visit to Sprig and Vine. First time we enjoyed everything we ordered despite the somewhat pricey bill. This time around though it failed to impress. The chocolate cake was dry and crumbly and just a bit too basic. The lemon tart dessert was much better thankfully. The scoop of ice cream that accompanied each was delicious but tiny, how about a bigger scoop? The edamame falafel wrap was very tasty however the ingredients inside were not consistently spread around leading to multiple bites of just bitter greens. It would be nice if the ingredients were layered instead to more evenly distribute everything. The forbidden breakfast burrito was a bit better in this regard. The small plate of biscuits with mushrooms and cashew gravy was excellent! Also you now have to pay to park in the lot and if you use a card the minimum charge is $4. They need to improve on delivering consistent quality and fresh food. If the cake is going stale don't serve it. I would eat here again but would avoid a couple of dishes that were not up to par. read more

FINALLY a legit vegan menu. I was pumped to come here and try some good ol vegetarian dishes, but when I got to the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised to find out the entire menu is vegan! It's refreshing to know that this area isn't THAT far behind the times. Some of my favorite restaurants all over the states are vegan so I have a lot to compare this place to. The menu is perfect. Killer selection as well as amount of items. Its not overwhelming, so you know they can do these dishes well. We got the corn-crusted green tomatoes, the soup special, the tempeh with maple & pecan and split the king oyster mushroom app. It was all very good! Sat at 8, didn't see food till almost 9:20 and the place was not busy. It's byob, and we asked for ice several times and it seemed like the waitress was annoyed. Often sat with empty glasses never asked if we were ok or needed anything. Service was horrible, not attentive , hardly saw the waitress. Ended up being $282(tip included) for a dinner that took over an hour to arrive, at separate times with horrible service and I left hungry. Never would come back vegan or not. You do need reservations.The hostess and servers were nice. The restaurant isn't too cozy, and where we were seated we had the displeasure of car head lights beaming into our faces from time to time. It took about 30 minutes to get our food. I cook on a regular basis. So when I go to a restaurant I base it on whether I think I can make the dish better at home, and I felt I could. For dinner, I had the soup, and thought it was under seasoned. I also had the green onion pancake roll, which was fine, but the sauce on top was too heavy and sweet for my taste. I was given a taste of the tofu dish, and didn't like it all. The tofu was very chewy/rubbery. It didn't get finished. The other dishes I sampled were average. Also, none of the food was very warm. We didn't want to try the desserts. I'm not vegan, but have friends who are, and it's nice to have this type of restaurant in the area. Although, I don't think we'll be going back to this one. I really loved my meal here! My friend and I went for lunch and we both got the "BLACK BEAN & POTATO CHILI BURRITO- avocado-cashew sour cream | smoked paprika rice | chipotle-carrot-cabbage slaw | shredded lettuce" for 12 dollars. It comes on a plate with a small side salad (I could take or leave the salad, nothing special). The burrito was big and filling and so different from any burrito we have ever had. We were both full and completely satisfied. My friend made a good point that there was a lot of 'texture'. We decided to split a dessert because even though we were full, our sweet compartment still had room. We ordered the: "ALMOND PEAR TART- almond crust | coconut-roasted pear purée | orange blossom & pink peppercorn ice cream". It was very good, very sweet. Thousands of birds are dropping dead from the sky -- and I'm giving five stars to a vegetarian restaurant. What's next, world peace? It had damn well better not be The Rapture. Not before I get back up to New Hope for another meal or six at Sprig & Vine. If future meals are as good as the five-course New Year's Eve dinner, I might never make it to Marsha Brown's (which I nixed after scanning the mixed reviews, and they harassed me on the day of my reservation, after I'd already confirmed it the day before ... WTF?). A few years ago, I hit up Horizons to celebrate a vegan friend's birthday. I'm not even close to being a vegetarian, but I keep an open mind and can make it through a meatless meal now and then. The meal at Horizons was amazing -- especially the BBQ seitan. So, recently, after passing Sprig & Vine en route to Triumph Brewpub, looking it up online and discovering the Horizons connection (thanks, Yelpers), I knew I had to get there soon. Fortunately, they squeezed us in for NYE (sorry, Marsha) and treated us to an amazing array of food. Highlights: The watermelon radish a few others have mentioned kicked things off as the amuse bouche. The puree of cauliflower was a standout soup dish, and after a fine salad of local greens, the meal hit the next level with a light saffron risotto with garlic aioli. The star of the show, the porcini-crusted tofu with butternut squash ravioli, was so good I didn't miss steak or seafood at all (that's right around the top of my rating scale). My omnivorous companion concurred, and we were happily full without feeling weighted down -- an important factor with the NYE libations on the way. As delicious as the entire lineup was, the pumpkin cheesecake was out of this world. I hardly ever get cheesecake, and like tofu, I wouldn't even call myself a fan, but the flavor and consistency was not like the typical cheesecake at all. It was the perfect way to end the experience. The service was quite good, and the pacing of the courses worked out well. The entire meal took about 90 minutes. And with all of this for $50 per person, we couldn't imagine a better value for a dinner on NYE. Can't wait to see what they do for Arbor Day. Downside? Only one. The interior is nicely designed, but our table near the front door wasn't a great place to be on a cold night with no barrier to block the wind every time the door opened. Thankfully we were part of the last seating, so it didn't happen too often, but if you go in the winter, make a point of requesting a table around the corner. read more

Tucked away in a small pocket of New Hope is a brand new restaurant filled with really big surprises. Owned and operated by Horizons' former Sous Chef, Ross Olchvary, Sprig & Vine is truly an amazing dining experience. Our party of 4 was greeted with a warm welcome by their host and we had arrived just after the big dinner slam, so we were promptly seated. The entire restaurant was glowing with warm ambient light shining from very unique cork light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. After being seated, you can't help but feel absorbed by all of complimentary natural earth tones and the independent track list. Our server immediately greeted us with a smile and opened our bottle of wine and poured everyone a glass. We started with the Fried Baby Artichokes, Edamame Falafel and Tofu Satay....all amazing. You almost feel guilty as your fork disturbs the pristine presentation of each dish, but the flavors and textures are truly out of this world. Ever have black sesame tahini? i certainly hadn't. The edamame falafel was delicately placed ontop of light drizzles of the tahini. It was perfect and garnished with pickled radish. the tofu satay was accompanied by pickled mango and had an amazing coconut-peanut glaze. We ordered every entree except for the cornmeal-crusted tempeh (only because we were a party of 4 and not 5). The slow roasted root vegetable pave was like a sunburst on my plate. Featuring local soft polenta, red wine braised shallots, and grilled asparagus, you forget that what you're eating is "100% Vegetarian". You forget because it's kind of hard to believe that such complex flavor is the result of purely vegetarian ingredients. We also tried the Cauliflower Three Ways, Seared Coconut Risotto Cakes and the Moroccan Grilled Tofu. We had to try one of the side dishes, so we went with the Kennebec Potato Fries. I really can not say enough wonderful things about Sprig & Vine. After 3 bowls of soup, 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, one side, one dessert and 2 cups of coffee, our bill was only $122 dollars!!!!!! In the past, i've paid literally triple this amount for half the quality! Bring a bottle or two of wine, bring your friends, but also try bringing someone who has never had the opporutnity/privilege to try an all out vegetarian/vegan experience. it will totally change their perspective on food. We heard about this place from a relative, and thank God we did! It's great to have a gourmet vegan restaurant located somewhere other than a major city. We've had a multitude of dishes at Sprig and Vine, and all have been creative and delicious. Appetizers we have enjoyed include Watermelon Gazpacho with Avocado Basil Sorbet, artichoke hearts lightly fried with a delicious sauce, french fries, lentil soup, and corn and quinoa stuffed zucchini flower with a green curry sauce. Entrees we have enjoyed include a Tempeh Reuben, Risotto Cakes, and Blackened Tofu, just to name a few. Desserts we have enjoyed include a cookie sampler and the PB&J French Toast. The PB&J French toast features three baguette pieces french toasted, served with a peanut butter powder and a port wine reduction. This dish will literally have you licking the plate clean. Service has always been prompt, accurate, and friendly. We always joke with the servers how much we "hated" the food, because our plates are always completely spotless after each course. With all due respect to Mr. Pollan, the true omnivore's dilemma is finding a vegetarian restaurant that will satisfy you as much as a plate of dead animals. In that sense, Sprig & Vine succeeds in spades. The atmosphere inside of the restaurant is clean, but the quiet, the dark-stained wood interior, and the introverted staff give it a gloomy vibe that all but dissipates when your food arrives. I went here for a lunch with a group of six co-workers, and nobody - including the carnivores in the group - had any complaints. I ordered the oyster mushroom po' boy, whose delicious bread, tangy homemade pickles, and miraculous breaded mushrooms indicate that the only thing "po'" about the sandwich is that you will, in fact, have to stop eating it eventually. You could eat a bottle cap po' boy that was prepared in the same fashion with the same crispy, peppery coating, and it'd still be delicious. The menu is rounded out with a nice selection of organic sodas and drinks. The soups are also quite good, often incorporating a good selection of healthy foods and "super-vegetables" like kale that don't see much use in the outside world. I declare this my favorite restaurant. It keeps getting better and better. Always perfect service along with a menu where it is impossible to choose. I just learned that their ice creams are made in-house and are coconut milk based. You can get them on their own for $3 a scoop. The coffee one was heavenly. Portions are large, and since it is a BYOB, you can have a world-class meal very affordably. We drove in from Northern NJ for the day to visit the nearby lavender farm and hoped to spend a few hours of the afternoon in New Hope and Lambertville. It was pretty rainy so most of that plan got scratched but I'm so happy we made the drive to New Hope to check out Sprig and Vine. The lunch menu was incredible. I really couldn't decide what to eat. I am a vegetarian and all the meals looked so amazing. My meat-eating sister and her boyfriend were also equally intrigued by the menu. Our waitress was super patient and great at answering our questions like "Would your recommend this or that??" And she gave us great reasons why. For example, she recommended the Zucchini sandwich over the edemame Falafel since you can get falafels easily elsewhere and the sandwich was unique to them. Made a lot of sense. Sandwiches are cut in half so my sister and I each ordered something different so we could try both. I got the zucchini and she got the barbecue tempeh wrap. I also got some greens as a side dish. Everything tasted so fresh and healthy. I felt amazing leaving the place. I also really enjoyed that they had Kombucha on the drinks menu. I tried the cola soda Kombucha. The menu is very unique and ever changing, the food is very fresh and well seasoned, and the presentation of the food is like art. My boyfriend and I split 5 of the "small plates" between us plus dessert and we left totally stuffed, but since it's vegetarian and vegan I didn't feel "heavy" afterwards. We definitely recommend the the spicy tofu tacos and the tiramisu for dessert. However, I have one critique: The Sprig and Vine had almost no decor. It was very bland inside - everything seemed to be colored brown. My suggestion would be to add some artistic accents to the walls and add in some greenery such as big potted ferns, maybe some "sprigs" of fresh herbs on the tables or flowers/plants in vases around the restaurant - it could really perk the place up. read more

I tried this place today for lunch. Had the asparagus bisque soup, which was OK. I wish it tasted a little more like asparagus. The fries were good and came with a garlic dipping sauce. For the main course I had the tempeh reuben sandwich, which was pretty good. The sandwiches are well priced and generously sized. (I could only eat half of it.) I've always loved New Hope, and it always amazed me that it was so entirely devoid of interesting vegetarian fare. At one time El Taco Loco was the best place to find a decent vegetarian meal, and that's saying something. In more recent times there was Cafe Lulu, which had a good veggie burger and a few other tasty options... but sadly that disappeared, again leaving only ETL. (I love ETL for what it is, but let's be honest - it's not exactly fine dining.) Enter Sprig & Vine. We happened upon it purely by chance; we parked in the adjacent pay lot, and stopped to peruse the menu on the window as we walked by. Imagine my surprise (and great joy) when I realized the menu was not only completely vegan, but creative and interesting, as well! We've eaten here several times since this initial discovery, both for lunch and for dinner. Lunch has always been great, while dinner has been consistently good, but not spectacular. The lunch menu boasts a superb selection of sandwiches, my favorite being the Caraway-Crusted Tempeh Reuben - crunchy tempeh, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing layered between two thick-cut slices of extra dark and tangy pumpernickel. A huge, hearty sandwich with lots of big flavors, theirs is one of the best tempeh reubens I've ever had. Other sandwiches we've tried (Edamame Falafel Wrap, Sweet Potato-Black Bean Burrito) have been equally satisfying. We always order the Kennebec Potato Fries as a side; they're not the crispiest fries you'll ever have, but they're seasoned nicely (Old Bay?) and the grain mustard aioli which accompanies them is good enough to eat with a spoon. The dinner options I've tried so far have always been extremely fresh, well prepared, and beautifully plated. But they always seem to lack... OOMPH. And by oomph, I mainly mean salt. As a lover of ethnic cuisines, I'm used to strong flavors - but I do understand the concept of using herbs and spices sparingly, so that the flavors of the vegetables themselves can shine. This does not bother me in the least. However, a bit of salt can really make those natural flavors pop - and the dishes here are not salted enough, if at all. Without the addition of salt, these dishes often taste bland. (S&V doesn't even have salt on the tables; you have to request it.) As an example: I recently had the Slow-Braised Pulled Portabella & Scarlot Runner Beans, served over Creamy Carrot Polenta and topped with a spoonful of Fennel-Cabbage Slaw. This dish was inspired and completely original (pulled portabella - ingenious!) but still not fantastic. The polenta was indeed creamy and tasted of carrots, and once I added salt you could even detect a tiny bit of the corn flavor. But without any salt, it just tasted like... pureed carrots. The pulled portabella and bean mixture on top was tasty and had lots of texture, but it was very mildly seasoned and, once again, required a few good pinches of salt to really make the flavors shine. Once salted, it was very tasty! But I almost felt guilty asking the server to bring me some. I know, what's the big deal, right? If it just needs some salt, then add some salt. But honestly, I feel a dish should be well balanced when served. Maybe this is just a personal preference sort of thing. My boyfriend always orders the same dish when we go for dinner: Cornmeal-Crusted Tempeh, which seems to be a menu mainstay. This dish is so tasty that I don't blame him for not branching out. The tempeh is meaty, with a super-crunchy exterior; it sits atop a mound of mashed potatoes and sauteed greens, and is topped with a delicious mustard sauce. This one never seems to need salt; I guess the mustard sauce is sufficiently salty to handle the task. If you're a fan of tempeh, I highly recommend that you try this dish. And if you're not the biggest fan of tempeh, it may be that you haven't had it prepared right. This place does it right; give it a shot. Besides the salt issue, my main complaint with this restaurant is that they don't offer any of their wonderful sandwiches on their dinner menu. They would be a most welcome addition. Sometimes you just want a good sandwich! It's a sad thing when a serious Reuben craving cannot be squelched. I had been trying to make my way over to sprig and vine since they opened. What a lovely meal I enjoyed with my family. The wait staff was very attentive and welcoming to my two children. The food was really pleasant. Highlights for us were definitely the appetizers. I really enjoyed the emphasis on local seasonal ingredients. Lovely plating, and garnishes. Some items were not exactly seasoned to my taste, but all dishes were still lovingly prepared and creative. all in all, I give the folks at sprig and vine a big thumbs up! read more

By far my favorite restaurant of all time. My family and I come here for every occasion -- dishes are seasonal but you literally cannot go wrong with any of them. I was born and raised vegetarian, and was vegan for 3.5 years until recently so I have an appreciation of restaurants such as this one. The Oyster Mushroom Po' Boy is my favorite sandwich in the world -- and I don't even like mushrooms!!!!! But I love these. Every dessert is to DIE for, but especially the Tiramisu. For an appetizer, I highly recommend the potato wedges with the aioli. Ah my mouth is just watering thinking about all of it. read more

Ventured to New Hope last night to check out the new Vegan restaurant. Really enjoyed it. Jeez, if someone cooked for me like that ALL the time I could easily become vegan or at least vegetarian - until the grips of a steak or bacon craving got to me of course! In any case, even as a Carnivore one can totally enjoy the food at Sprig & Vine. Please check out the photos I posted - you're going to want to come try these dishes for yourself (since you can't scratch & sniff the pictures). Tried something from each course & the only thing I wasn't wild about were the side of greens. They were good, just not for me, but my friend liked them. Liked the artichokes A LOT - kind of wanted to lick the plate (for real, but I didn't). Enjoyed the risotto cakes too. The Olive Oil cake sounds kinda of weird but DOES NOT taste kinda of weird. It was yummy. The atmosphere was comfortable & the service was impeccable. Colin was friendly & knowledgeable & gave us lots of time to enjoy our meal. Get there NOW before it gets too crowded. Soon, as more people discover Sprig & Vine, this place is going to be booked solid. read more

Made reservations for weekend brunch. Great vegan restaurant with ample paid parking spots. We ordered a bunch of dishes to sample. My favorite was the strawberry-flaxseed pancakes. The oyster mushrooms biscuits were savory. The tofu scramble tacos were flavorful as well. The coffee wasn't great and neither were the griddle cakes. The cakes were a bit dry. Service was great. I definitely want to come back and check out their dinner menu, which I heard is better. read more
