Great ambience, great service and delicious food. I felt like the grill cheese was over the top rich but otherwise everything was fabulous. Would definitely eat here again.

Have eaten at the restaurant a few times and always very good. But, this time we went with some friends and tried the Speak Easy at the back/side of the restaurant. Once in we were welcomed by the two bartenders who were awesome! The place has a very cool vibe like that of an old time bar! The cocktails were awesome and especially like Nathan's two shaker mixing of cocktails while bending backwards! He must have been working on his flexibility! Thanks for a fun closing of the evening!

Veggie omelette with grits. Cheese extra.

Nice place for brunch on a rainy Sunday, though I imagine it's great on non-rainy days too. I had the veggie omelette with grits. It was very good. I liked all the vegetables in the omelette and I added cheese, but the cheese was not really noticeable. There were a lot of mushrooms. Plenty of filling, maybe not quite evenly distributed. My bowl of grits was fine. I specified no cheese, but it came with cheese on top anyway. The grits could have been more buttery and looser; these were very solid, like a bowl of baked polenta. Along with brunch I had the harvest mule cocktail that was cozy and tasty. Then I had the cherry pie a la mode. The pie crust was great, the filling fine, a little too gelatiny for me, but nothing at all wrong with it. With the scoop of ice cream it was the perfect sweet to end the meal. I'd eat here again. Service was very good. We had sufficient attention for things like water glass refills. Good parking lot, just know that you are not allowed to turn left into it from one direction. I drove past and turned around in the tiny park next to the shopping center.

We had a reservation for 5 for brunch at 11:30 am on Sunday, 7/28/24. Sean was our waiter and he was wonderful! So patient with us! The average age of the customers skewed higher. Seems like a lot of retirees frequent the restaurant. Everyone was very sweet! They have a good selection of liquor at the bar, and it seems like they're known for their whisky. Very casual. They have high chairs! We split 2 appetizers and each got our own entrée. Here's what we got: - Pimento Cheese Fritters ($14): Good. - Blueberry Baked French Toast ($14): Glad we split this. It was really good and sweet, but I couldn't have eaten the entire dish myself. - Sprig Classic Burger ($14) with Sweet Potato Fries (+ $2): The burger was good. The fries would've been great if they weren't so salty. Others in my party had the Veggie Omelet ($14), Chilaquiles ($14), and Breakfast Croissant ($14). All were pretty average. The veggies weren't cooked into the omelet, just sandwiched between the egg. The portions were also pretty small. Decent food, reasonably priced, portions on the smaller side. Good service!

Came for the speakeasy called subway. Super cool . Used to be an old subway restaurant but they went with a whole nyc theme. Booths tables and chaise no standing allowed so sit at bar make a reservation or sit with others in a shared booth. Nathan and Madison (I think was his name) were the bartenders and they mix some mean dranks. Order off the menu or tell them to surprise you and you won't be disappointed. I didn't have the food but see it and its comfort food that had hearty portions and looked tasty. Entrance is through a bookshelf and stock room of sorts in back of restaurant. Service was excellent

This place is popular with the locals and i can see why! You might miss it if you're just driving by or scanning the area for something to eat but i definitely recommend stopping by. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is fantastic! So far i've had their quinoa salad, grit fries, world famous burger, eggs Benedict, and Spinach salad with grilled chicken (not pictured). All have been delicious and i think about going back on a daily! Special shout out to the manager Heather who is such a pleasant person to speak with and a joy to be around. Oh yea, did i mention they have an extensive WHISKEY BAR??? Literally a wall of different whiskeys ready to tantalize your tastebuds. Just amazing. I'm Completely sold on this place.

    Grit fries

One of the greatest disappointments of recent times. We were hoping this would be a neighborhood go-to but the food just wasn't that good. I had the grit fries and fried green tomatoes as my entree. They had the same breading and I kind of regretted getting two things that were so similar. The grit fries were actually good and I liked the sauce it was served with. I asked for no goat cheese on the tomatoes and had to send it back when it came out with it on there. There was a cilantro lime sauce on it that was not the right flavor profile and kind of ruined the tomatoes themselves. My bf had the swordfish which was dry and served with rice that was also not well prepared. Our waitress was new and seemed very overwhelmed, at one point at the verge of tears having also messed up a few things with the table next to ours. She was nice, and was trying. The saving grace of the meal was the cocktails. We *may* return for that. We had asked to be seated outside (with no reservation) and the cute area on the side was full so we were basically at the curb of the parking lot out front. We noticed that anyone under 30 years old who arrived were directed towards the speakeasy? So there's that.

Casual dining at its finest. My family and I were looking for a place to eat the day after Xmas and this place could accommodate our party. We only had 6, but could easily accommodate 10-12 in the corner booth we were in. We came for their dinner and we order appetizers: Brussels sprouts, fried green tomatoes and grit fries - they were all really good. The grit fries were pleasantly delicious and so were the tomatoes (I'm not really a fan of FGT). Everyone enjoyed their food: I got the portobello ravioli and it was really good (wished it was hotter in terms of temperature, but still really good and flavorful). I also got the nectarita and it was STRONG. My sister got the sangria and it was pretty good (better than most that I have had). Dessert - we got the chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream. While smile, it was delicious! Overall, had a great experience here and would recommend

Came here for the first time with family members. They have a really cool speakeasy that's in the back! The drinks were absolutely delicious and it's one of the best lemon drops I've ever ever had. We can't wait to go back!

There was some confusion on where to enter the building due to lack of signage, but we figured it out. Upon entering, I immediately was overwhelmed by how loud the music was. I have sensory issues and asked if we could be seated outside, but was told that there was a party outside. We were seated inside and no one in my group could hear each other speak the whole time we ate due to how loud the music was. We couldn't hear the server either. Our server immediately gave us menus, silverware, and waters. He didn't introduce himself or really say much of anything. We were left to look at the menus for 5-10 minutes. Upon looking at the menus, we were extremely disappointed to see that much of what we came for was not available due to it being a brunch item. This was not communicated ANYWHERE on the website and we would not have chosen to dine here had we known. We chose to stay and eat due to already paying $10 for parking across the street. Once we came to terms with the fact that we would not be eating french toast or waffles, we began looking at the menu to decide what to order. It was then that I noticed how expensive everything was. The food is even more expensive than the menu on the website, and the item that I decided upon - the catfish and grits - was $30. This is unreasonably expensive for what it was and I would have priced it at about $18 to be generous. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food and eventually my catfish and grits and my mother's shrimp and grits were served. The sauce around the grits was cold, and the grits themselves weren't super hot. It was obvious that they had been sitting while the fish and shrimp was being cooked. The portion itself was too much to eat in one sitting and grits are not something that would reheat well so we left them instead of trying to take them home. When our grits were served, the waiter told us my step-mother's smothered pork chop would be right out. It did not come for another 10 minutes. One of her sides was a salad, but not even that was brought out. While my mother and I's grits were phenomenal in flavor, my step-mother's pork chop was barely edible. She said that it was tough, especially when she was not provided anything more than a butter knife to cut with, and the gravy on top was so salty that I gagged upon tasting it. It tasted like gravy mix from a packet that was combined with the drippings from a meat that had already been seasoned. My step-mother prefers things to be more salty, but even she had to peel the breading off to be able to eat the pork chop. Keep in mind, this was also about $30. Our service was poor. The waiter didn't introduce himself, as I said, and he did not ask if we wanted anything more than water to drink. He was barely able to be heard over the loud music, but he also didn't say much. He did not check up on us during our meal or say anything while we waited 40+ minutes for our food. And when we went up to the cash register to pay our bill, we were left standing there for about 5 minutes while various servers and workers walked by and went behind the register without even acknowledging our presence. This was very off-putting and a terrible way to end a lackluster dinning experience. Upon paying our bill, we were forced to pay a mandatory 15% tip and a 7% service fee. And then they had the audacity to ask for an additional tip despite their poor service. We all left Platez feeling very disappointed, despite how delicious my mother and I's grits were. We all had the sentiment that we would have had a better time eating at Waffle House because we went for brunch food in the first place. Platez is (in my opinion) horribly overpriced and the service was terrible. I try to be positive, but I would never come here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Got a text back saying they don't take reservations, it's first come, first serve, but they would do what they could to accomodate us. 4 of us were seated and we had 2 more coming before we wanted to order. The wait staff was attentive, making sure we had our beverages and if we needed anything before the 2 arrived. Once they arrived, the staff gave us a few minutes to make sure the 2 had a chance to look at the menus. We ordered appetizers to start...corn bread, sage fried pierogies and poutine. We weren't sure about the poutine because we didn't see any gravy, we did see the cheese curds on the fries, but once we finally dug in, the gravy was at the bottom. The pierogies were tasty. We asked if they could cut the cornbread so each of us could get a taste, which they did. Corn bread had a toasted texture, and the honey butter was delicious! Everyone ordered something different. One had fish and chips, which would seem to be a likely order for a pub. Their special for the day was a ruben. Another ordered a falafel sandwich, and I think 2 salmon BLT's and then one salad with rainbow trout. Portions were not overwhelming, but we realized that we were full from the appetizers and almost everyone ended up taking most of their main choices in doggie bags (boxes). As time got closer to the festival to start, it did get crowded, but the staff handled the influx of people and people were seated relatively quickly. This was a nice destination as most of the group live a drive from Decatur. Lovely afternoon visit!

I heard mostly positive things about this restaurant from a few family members, so I was curious to check it out. This Caribbean/Southern fusion spot is located as the anchor of a strip mall with other restaurants next door. The great thing is that there is plenty of parking. We came on a Saturday evening; thankfully it was not crowded, so we were able to sit down immediately. Food: I ordered the stewed chicken wings which comes with plantains and jasmine rice. I also ordered a side of roasted brussel sprouts. The wings were very good, falling off the bone tender. I also loved the flavoring of the rice, and the plantains were perfectly sweet. I was not a big fan of the brussel sprouts. They had a thick honey sauce on them that was overpowering, and they were very soft in texture. The positive side is that they give you a ton of food for the price. Service: There weren't many staff working this evening from what I could see. Our server greeted us promptly and checked on us several times before we ordered food. Once we ordered our food, it honestly went down hill. It just took extremely long to get anyone's attention for help. It also took close to 30 mins just to get our check. When the check came, they initially said they couldn't split it and added an automatic 20% gratuity. On their site, it says they do that for parties of 4 or more, but we were only a party of 3. The manager let the server split the check, but they would not remove the gratuity. I always tip well, so it wasn't the end of the world, it was just the principle for me. While I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, I might consider checking them out again for brunch.
