I know many give "restaurant chains" a bad rap, but I feel that Spring Creek checks all the boxes for an awesome restaurant chain. I've eaten at probably 10+ locations around the Fort Worth/Dallas area and have never had an issue or a bad meal. The staff and managers at each of the locations are very attentive. For today's visit I ordered the rib plate with green beans and potato salad as my sides. My wife ordered her favorite, the Southwest Salad with chicken. I forgot to take a photo of it. We had the brisket that was lean and one that was marbled. I recommend the one that was marbled as it was a bit more tender. They serve fresh rolls to the table and all the staff really enjoyed serving. The sides we ordered were all delicious and were generously portioned. We had cole slaw, potato salad, green beans and bbq beans. I recommend adding barbecue sauce to the barbecue beans. We did find a couple of hard stems in the green beans, and the potato salad was a little sweet. The rolls hot and fresh can't be beat. They also offer cobbler and ice cream for an extra charge. What can I say. I guess I got spoiled by the legendary Terry Black's and Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum and my local favorite Big Al's on Inwood next to Planet Ford. I got the hankering to try Spring Creek as I always get their buy one get one free rib dinner in the ValPak envelope every month. What a huge mistake!! Upon entering this restaurant, we were promptly greeted and welcomed by staff behind the counter. They advised that both dinners did not need to be ribs, so I opted for the baby back ribs, and my dining partner chose the brisket. We both chose the bbq beans, and for my second side, I chose the potato salad, and my partner chose the cole slaw. The beans tasted like they came straight out of can, and they didn't seem like they were cooked as they were hard, and the sauce they were in was extremely watery. The potato salad was the shining star of the meal. The rolls on our plate were hard and old, and eventually, they came around with hot, fresh ones towards the end of our meal. The cole slaw had no flavor at all. The brisket also was bland, and dipping it on the bbq sauce only elevated the flavor slightly. The ribs were extremely fatty, tough, and greasy. They were old as they were not tender and did not fall off the bone like I expected them to. I will not be visiting this chain restaurant ever again. read more

Oh boy. Where do I even start. The tasteless brisket? The greasy black pepper sausage? Perhaps most disturbing for me were the all too familiar looks of disgust mixed with amusement when Tracy, my beautiful blond wife, and me, a Venezuelan immigrant, walked in together. We'd seen it before- as a mixed race couple, we encounter bigotry every day. However, we'd never thought that we'd see it here in heavily Hispanic Irving. Walking through the front doors of a Spring Creek Barbeque is the best, especially on a cold and gloomy day. You're immediately met with warmth and the most comforting smell of hickory smoke and freshly baked rolls. Ugh, I wish everything on the menu was gluten free sooooo badly. I had the "Chopped Baker" this visit, an enormous baked potato stuffed with saucy chopped brisket and all the fixings; butter, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, green onion, sour cream. It's a ridiculous amount of food, truly. It's like one of those Jason's Deli potatoes. I probably ate 1/3 of it. I literally said out loud "this potato never ends" while eating it. And it was delicious. The potato was perfectly cooked, really fluffy, piping hot. It didn't taste like it'd been reheated or under a heat lamp all day, it really legitimately freshly baked. My chopped brisket was a little fatty/chewy and I had a couple pieces I couldn't chew through, but overall I recommend this potato 100%, even though it was $13.99. Maybe share it with someone or prepare for leftovers. I didn't have any other meats or sides this time because that would be a crazy amount of food alongside the Chopped Baker, but I've had most everything (that's gluten free) on the menu and it's all consistently really good. Same goes for their food when delivered, you can count on it to be hot, fresh, and quality. All their meats, their barbecue sauce, the baked beans and potato salad and coleslaw, even their classic, cafeteria-style red and green jello squares. All solid. Not sure what the negative reviews are about but we had an amazing experience here. A local friend suggested we meet here for a last minute lunch and I admit that when I saw the Yelp reviews I was concerned but decided to give it a go. First, the food. The babyback ribs, the brisket and black pepper sausage were good! I liked that the ribs were sent overly sweet and they give you some sauce on the side to dip when you want a little more sweetness. The brisket was definitely good and tender, seasoned well for me since it didn't taste overly salty. Just some smoke and fork tender. Next time I want to try their chicken as well. For sides we had the green beans, delicious with some hot sauce, the pinto beans, yummy with or without hot sauce and the Mac and cheese. M&C was probably my least favorite dish just because it was under seasoned but nothing a little hot sauce won't fix. Before paying (cafeteria style) there is a pickle/jalepenos/onion/sauce bar. Love that. Also had a half sweet/unsweetened tea. So good. Then the bread. What a shocker. Super unassuming roll that comes with the plate and then when you sit down and tuck into it your mind is kind of blown. THEN this lady walks by with a basket full of freshly baked bread buns and wants you to eat as many as you can!! If anyone wants to make America great again this is what we need more of. My boss took me here for a free lunch the other day. First time going and I wasn't disappointed. The portions seem a little small but the flavor of everything is actually pretty good. It's a cafe style restaurant where you get a tray and utensils before you get your food. They serve you the meat and side but the vegetables side you serve yourself. This is the location of monthly NTAEP meetings, and I think it's a solid 3.5. A-OK, solid BBQ, but nothing to write home about. Lunch specials go for $10 and include one choice of meat, plus sides. I've tried the brisket, pulled pork (Carolina style), and the ribs and have not been disappointed with any of the choices. The sides are A-OK as well. The mac and cheese tastes like it's supposed to, as does the potato salad and cole slaw. The Texas Pecan Pie is alright - I don't think I'll get it again. We went into Spring Creek Barbeque for dinner one night after losing a youth football championship and finding out that all flights home were cancelled due to impending winter weather. We came in and the manager Jason took great care of us. He explained the menu and all the options. Due to the weather, they were slow. Jason and the staff were awesome letting us try extra sides and very attentive to us. We don't usually do desserts but decided to try it and I you better save room for it. Everything we had was fantastic and we tried a little bit of everything. The brisket was the best I have ever had and the rolls come to your table hot and fresh and absolutely delicious.
