Spring Creek is a chain restaurant that serves up barbecue and sides. They're also known for handing out hot, fresh bread rolls during your meal. While it's not the best barbecue DFW has to offer, it's fast, family friendly, and normally doesn't have a wait. My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Spring Creek has a nice open feel. There's a distinct smoke/bbq smell on the outside (good sign), and like many bbq restaurants, you enter and line up to order. The inside is clean, spacious, and also has plenty of space & private rooms for large groups or parties. 1 Star. Service - The staff is very friendly, starting with the meat cutters who customize your plate to the person who mans the register. And of course let's not forget the girls who pass out the fresh, piping hot rolls that are made for melting butter. And when I say they're family friendly, I mean it. We went back in line to get some jello for the kids, and the staff just waived us through & gave it to us. Food - Here's the reality, you're not going to get the best barbecue from a chain. Having said that I think Spring Creek does some things well. I really like their smoke sausage. In fact, I always stuff them in my rolls & make mini sammiches. They turkey is tender, moist, and has a good smoke flavor. Everything else I'll pass on, as usually the chicken, brisket, or ribs need to be drenched in sauce to go down. Sides are typical & cafeteria type. But honestly, give me some sausage, pickles, & those hot rolls & I'll be a happy camper. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Only if it's convenient. I would come back with my kids since I know they are good for families. Honestly, I think Spring Creek in Irving is big, clean, has great service, and is a good option if you want BBQ without really hunting it down. This was a toss up between 3 Stars and 4 Stars, I gave it 4 Stars because I come here often (and the to-go experience is better at times than dining in). I would consider myself a regular because my husband likes this place. I either get the Chopper (backed potato fully loaded with chopped beef) or ribs (which can be disappointing because they lack meat). My husband 95% of the time gets a chopped beef or sliced beef sandwich. We either get our food to-go or dine in. PLUS!!! They have coupon buy one, get one free for equal or lesser value. (BONUS for sure) Most meals come with two sides and there a relish section, nice touch. If you dine in, they hire a young staff ...they always seem to be goofing off and playing around behind the counter. The managers seem to pop in and out of the back ...so they don't notice it. This happens way to often, remember I'm a regular. They're known for their hot rolls, which are very tasty ...but the roll girl comes around too often disturbing table conversation. I wish there was a sign you could turn over or a flag you could raise to let them know if you want hot bread. The to-go experience is much better. They will bring rolls to your table in the dining room. They also have two rooms that can be reserved. You can get refills on soda but you have to wade back in to the line. The strangest BBQ experience I've ever been through. I would strongly recommend reviewing their menu and offerings prior to arrival. I still have no idea what or how many sides come with the lunch special. The brisket was decent, but not extraordinary. What really set me off was the total lack of a barbecue sauce!?! Wowza! What a good place! Great deal with some good food! Now it wasn't AMAZING food but for the price... it was pretty good!! Typical price for BBQ plates and sandwiches but what really topped this place was the all you can eat side dishes. I piled on the coleslaw, Mac and cheese, beans and bread that I couldn't even find my meat on the plate after I did that! They also had a worker walk around asking if we wanted more bread as well! All the sides were good and the meat was tender and flavorful. Really the only complaint is that I've tasted better BBQ. Again it wasn't bad at all but I've had a lot better. Me and my family went to this restaurant over the weekend as our sci-fi club temporarily relocated there due to the main party room at another restaurant reserved for another party around the same time. But I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about the food and the service. As we entered the restaurant, the staff there was very courteous & friendly, not to mention seeing the ribs grilled and sauced while waiting. While the menu in line is legible for everyone to see, not everyone will have good vision. My only suggestion would be to add menu brochures at the front door. Then again, that's what the internet is for (but not everyone has a printer, let alone an internet connection). Thankfully, the cooks were able to help point out which is which so that nobody holds up the line. I went and ordered a combination plate comprised of BBQ ribs & sliced beef with mac-n-cheese and coleslaw (along with a small cup of BBQ sauce). A great dish for almost $13. The food was prepared and cooked to perfection. The only sad part is that once it's all gone...it's gone. Although the food line looks to be set up like a buffet, it isn't. Though drink refills and hot rolls keep coming. The only issue we had today was with the pink lemonade as it was watered down. Though thankfully with the free refills, we were able to switch drinks. My friend suggested to go here before catching our flight on Friday. It was around 5pm, so it wasn't busy at all. When I walked in, the staff was ready to serve the food behind the counter. The menu was very simple. I ordered sliced brisket, and side of green beans and pinto beans. I went to the different BBQ place last week, so I instantly compared this food with the one I had previous week. Brisket wasn't bad, but nothing exceptional. Not the best for sure. You can get side as much as you can fit on a plate which was good. I liked their green beans, but pinto beans weren't good. They make fresh breads, so you can get warm bread anytime. It's been a while since I've been to any Spring Creek. I'm really not a huge Spring Creek fan in general, but I have little problems with it . The best thing about Spring Creek, in my experience and opinion, is the hot bread they come around with. This location gets three stars, not because of any negative experience, but because it was just average. It didn't blow me away, didn't have anything that surprised me. Still, it had a feeling of nostalgia. Now the first time the hot bread came around, the bread was cooked too much, to where it was hard on the outside and the top. The next time the bread came around it was great. The food didn't really wow me either, and the bread lady passed me up the last time she came around before I left. The food was good, mind you, tasted just fine. I had barbecue chicken, but I've had better. The ribs on the other hand have always been good, it's not the Rib Crib from Wichita Falls, but it's still very good. I can't rate the ribs from this location since I had chicken, however. As I said, I don't have much against Spring Creek in general, but I do tend not to enjoy buffet-style places as much as I enjoy other dining experiences. It's not a buffet place, of course, you'd have to pay again if you went up to order something else most likely, but it carries that feel because you're going through a food line to get food. So that said, I can find little fault with this location minus being passed over for bread even though I sat right next to the bread station; but I can find little amazement beyond the friendliness of the staff. It is a bad sign when you go to a restaurant on a Saturday night and there are only 5 cars in the parking lot. I realize that this is a chain and I did not have high expectations, however, I didn't expect the bar to be so low. The BBQ Chicken was tough and flavorless, the brisket was mostly fat.... Spring Creek Bar B Que is a local North Texas chain that does a good job for their meat and sides. Not the best in Texas by any means but better than any meat available in the great state of Washington (my home). Prices are reasonable and portion is fair but not generous. I prefer the smoked turkey plate with pinto beans and Cole Slaw (sweet and tart). Great lunch or dinner plate topped off with fresh hot baked dinner rolls and sweet butter. The previous time I was here, they ran out of ribs, so this time I thought ahead. The ribs were good along with the bbque sauce. For my sides, I got coleslaw and potatoes. This restaurant is more like a cafeteria than your average restaurant. We walked in and asked to be seated only to be told we needed to go back out and walk through the service line. This was fine, but some kind of directions would have been better. We chose our meat and then started to pick veggies. I worry about money so I looked back on the menu look for the cost of the sides, only to see the small print that said it was all you could fit on your plate. I also found the trough of reddish brown sauce in one of the containers and put plenty on my meats, but my husband didn't see it. If instructions had been offered up to us, like directions to the service line and a label on the BBQ sauce to identify it, our meal would have been a little better. In Virginia there is always BBQ sauce on the table so not realizing that your only chance to get some was if you paid attention to the unmarked trough next to the baked beans, that could easily have been brown gravy, caused my husband to get $12 of BBQ meat with no sauce on it. Overall the food was good all the meat was tender and the coleslaw was very good. The baked beans were very bland and I would choose something else if I came here again, but they weren't awful. Service 3/5: The service was very scripted - staff would repeat certain lines and all seemed incredibly young and inexperienced. B We sat at a booth with a wooden table and vinyl covered cushion seats underneath a metallic spaceship-like ceiling. Booths, tables, and picnic benches sit atop 4 foot panels of glazed mosaic tile. There were protective awnings both outside and inside the building (which is like having a rain gutter system on the inside of the building if you ask me). The motif in here looks like a combination of many different styles (red brick, metallic ceiling, both horizontal and vertical panels of wood, and long brass bars diagonally placed over wooden doors). The employees are always so nice and silly. They always seem to make me laugh. You can also tell they enjoy bringing extra tasty bread rolls to your table and the extra sides. Long faces, guy slicing meat wanted to give us nothing but the leftovers and when told we wanted lean brisket instead started slicing paper thin cuts, also the sauce is too watery and flavorless. 3.5 stars Honestly, Spring Creek isn't the best for BBQ, but I really just come for their fresh, hot, buttery ROLLS. Whenever anybody at the table says "no, I'll pass on the rolls", I shoot them a mean glare so that they still pick one up for me. Mean muggin. Seriously y'all, these are piping fresh hot and just melttt into your mouth. As for the BBQ, I usually get half sausage, half ribs. The ribs are pretty good and usually fall off the bone once you bite in. As for the sausage, it's not stellar but it mixes up the plate a bit. The sides are unlimited so I usually get the mac and cheese, potato salad, and the green beans. I'm a sucker for mac and cheese, but Spring Creek needs to make these less watery!! Green beans have bacon in them and the potato salad is decent. It's a great enviro for the fambam to hang out. And just like most BBQ places, be prepared for your clothes to smell like smoke -- so wash yo clothes. read more

I come here for a monthly business-related meeting during the middle of the week at lunchtime. The meat is always excellent (I've never had any meat that wasn't barbecued to perfection). I find it impressive that they let you ask for the particular cut of brisket that you like (lean, moist, no bark, extra bark, etc...). The sides however, are up to your liking. I'm not a fan of their beans, as they aren't the beans that are served at your traditional Texas barbecue joint. I'm not saying that the sides are bad, just that they aren't your traditional Texas barbecue sides. The place is always spotless, including the bathrooms, which I always find impressive. Spring Creek serves excellent barbecue all day long. Their brisket falls apart in the mouth, but isn't gelatinous or chewy. The sausage is meaty, juicy and delicious. Spring Creek has just the right amount of smoke. Their sides are good too. From the pinto beans to the potato salad the sides are quality but not overstated as to take away from the meat. The yeast rolls are excellent and the bread lady just keeps passing them around. Consistency at Spring Creek is what keeps me coming back. The food is excellent whilst not monotonous. I know not how a chain can achieve this, but they do. As another plus, if you come on Sundays, they pass out free ice cream. If you're the type who prefers sit down service and eight sauce varieties from icy to volcanic, this won't be your place. Great experience, though not what I expected, I'm a bit spoiled with being served. But it was okay walking through, picking what I wanted. The ribs and peppered sausage were tender and delicious. I love to go eat at this place, when I order to go, they always seem to forget something in my order, they repeat the order back to me and still forget something. I ordered 4 separate orders on Southwest salad it had no grill chicken and extra dressing, another order they forgot the drink and peach cobbler. Even worst I called them and manager was suppose to call me back, up to now hasn't. When they say it'll be ready in 10 minutes, I only have 30 minutes for lunch, get there 15 minutes and still have to sit and wait for my order. I do not understand why Spring creek is on rated 3 stars. The food was great, the employees very nice, fast service - to me adds up to at least 4 if not 5 stars.
