Chicken dinner with mac and cheese & coleslaw Chicken & pepper sausage with coleslaw x2 Chicken & original sausage with green beans & potato salad. Chicken was nice and tender. Nothing stood out in flavor. Original sausage was ok but not too much texture with meat and the casing (not crunchy). Black pepper sausage was ok too. Nothing too much flavor of pepper stood out. They were baking fresh bread on the side, constantly handing it out for free. Their sides were not bad. Overall, it was ok. Service though... idk if they were over worked from being busy? This location was not worth coming too. Fries didn't come out until my sandwich was just about done. I had to go to counter twice asking for them and then just waited at the counter until I got them. Then they didn't pass out any fresh hot rolls until we're about to walk out the door. Will go to the Firewheel location next time, they have great customer service. read more

When I return to Texas, I always eat a lot of barbecue. Texas does have the best barbecue and Spring Creek always rates up there as one of my favorites. This time I visited the original Spring Creek barbecue founded back in the 80s. It was good. It wasn't as good as it has been in the past, but I did enjoy the meal. The brisket is usually the best bet. The ribs were also delicious. The sides are never disappointing and there's always friendly service and a clean atmosphere. read more

Use to be one the "to go places for bbq" now it just another bbq place. All of my family (wife plus 3 kids) have been going here for 25+ years and have always enjoyed the food. Not so much today. Chicken was not cooked all the way (manager ?) said it was ok to eat. Still very slimy in many places and not eatable. Wife beef was dry and tasteless. Just was not happy with food. I'm sure we will go back because we support all our local restaurants and appreciate what they do for our community but please please make sure your food is eatable btw your service staff is amazing read more

I've been in some form of retail management and customer service for most of my life. I love Spring Creek BBQ. Went to get some takeout ay lunch today Reed, mgr on duty, I think, is a hoot! :) So friendly and interacting with kids, adults, took my order, made sure all was good. We almost always do take home because I have medical issues. Only like twice in several years have they left anything out, etc. Even then, they corrected the error and compensated us with like free dessert. I know there's plenty of bbq in TX to choose from, and we eat at others, that said, this location of SC is excellent for a good, quick bite without totally breaking the bank too! Have not been to Spring Creek in a while, Sunday after church stopped by around 11am. Walked in to a familiar setting, smell of hickory smoke & fresh hot yeast rolls. I ordered up chopped baked potato ALL THE WAY ! There was a two meat combo and chopped beef sandwich also ordered. Service was quick and food was hot, we found a booth that fit our needs for seating. Clean & tidy all around. Large group of folks enjoying and Sunday lunch across the way. Not a bad meal at all for the price. One little whiny concern. Mac and cheese could be more cheesy. Great meal, and those fresh hot rolls kept coming by. Don't forget & save room for snow Bluebell ice cream. I forgot to do that. Maybe next time. We stop here for lunch while in town on a work trip. The restaurant must have had a little storm damage. We were greeted at the door by friendly staffs. I ordered their two meat entrees with burned end and briskets. BBQ was okay. Nothing too spectacular than our Kansas City BBQ. They do make fresh buns there which is almost like a cinnamon roll to me. It must be something that they are known for. Staffs are very friendly. Casual atmosphere. Moist, 8.5 on a scale of 10. Definitely put on your plate! Regular Sausage: Extremely traditional mild pork sausage. Remind me of Eckrich Smokey Links - but better flavor. I got a chicken dinner, which came with 2 sides and bread. The dark meat was very juicy and soft but the white meat was slightly chewy and dry. The skin gave a light smoky taste. They gave out fresh warm/hot bread that's continuously baked right in front of you! It's slightly crispy outside and soft inside. The BBQ sauce is tangy and sweet. The corn was unbuttered and juicy. The mac and cheese was plain, not too cheesy but just right. It didn't have a cheese pull or anything but more like pasta and cheddar(?) cheese that was mixed together. The customer service is really good! They are usually cheerful, and the vibe is comfortable. For a bbq place, the price is really good ($17.95) and the food is not bad! I've also tried the brisket sandwich (usually my go-to) and a turkey dinner (kind of a small portion and has a gelatinous texture). Old School local BBQ. Started in the Richardson location (I think) and expanded from there. This is the only one I keep going back to as it is convenient and reliable. OK - let's be real for a minute...BBQ is a labor intensive, product-focused cuisine. It AIN'T cheap any more. The days of a Memorial Day special for briskets at $0.99/lb at the grocery store isn't coming back. Also, we're in a time where everyone thinks they can do BBQ and charge a premium price. SO...that leaves us with places that have 10-15+ yrs of smoke on the walls, reasonable overhead, and time-tested recipes. This is one of those places. The proteins are solid...some better than others; but, the brisket, sausage, whole chicken, turkey, and ribs are consistently reliable. Side note - do NOT skip the bread and feel free to sop the BBQ sauce with the hot rolls. The service is beyond friendly as they have some seasoned veterans on the service line and some really great high school kids filling in other roles. Great selection of side dishes...again, side note, the BBQ pinto beans are good; but, there's an odd spice (cumin, maybe) and a lack of overnight soaking (they're crunchy) that detracts from this traditional side. In the traditional Texas bar b que spot style, service is cafeteria-style. Enter, stand in line, take a tray and silverware, order from the meat cutter standing in front of you, and your off! Now let's get down to business and my truth: 1. I only go here because they have a BOGO coupon in the mail every week! 2. The ribs are phenomenal and always have been. The ones I savored this visit were as good or better than the ones 10 or twenty years ago. They haven't messed with a good thing. 3. Don't go for the brisket. They've never figured this out sufficiently. 4. The chopped beef sandwich is above average and a bargain in today's market for Q! 5. Finally, after the global expansion of that delectable "cuisine" known as Texas Bar B Que, which has driven prices to pathetic highs for a decent meal, These guys have held the line and you can eat here without breaking the bank. 6. I have been happily eating and ordering from this location for over 12 years when I lived in Richardson, TX. When I (and my job) moved to downtown Dallas, I still drove to Richardson because I could not find BBQ as good as SC (they spoiled me, in a good way. Today, I decided to invite my new girlfriend to join me @ SC (since I have been raving about how wonderful it was since we met. HOWEVER, when we got home I was extremely upset that my to go order was messed up (incorrect) and we did not have enough food for the 2 of us. I ordered mac-cheese and pinto beans and rolls to go along with us splitting a full order of St. Louis Ribs. I also ordered an extra side of their delicious green beans (and the to go server told me they would be "on the house" for traveling all the way from downtown Dallas to Richardson just to eat @ S C. Also, we got NO bbq sauce, but we did get a few extra rolls for which we were grateful! Needless to say, my girl was NOT pleased with the incorrect order. She did say that the male server was very kind; she thought he was just trying to serve too many people at one time (3 couples all @ once), BUT, I don't excuse this and I am not happy that I paid $36.70 to attempt to impress another customer to visit your BBQ "wonderhouse". It is true that the server/Host, LEFT, did have good manners, but it will take me awhile to get over this and to drive over 25 minutes to have another order go wrong. Lastly, if someone could credit by bill for the incorrect billing and/or a manager call me to at least apologize, I would be grateful. Stopped in for lunch and was happily surprised by the food. Had the turkey and baby back ribs with a side of mac n cheese. The turkey was very moist and worked well with their house BBQ sauce. The ribs were very tender and easily fell off the bone. The mac n cheese was simple, but I am a mac n cheese purist who can appreciate and enjoy simple, so I was happy. This is not a top tier BBQ place in my opinion. They don't have brisket like Lockhart, Blacks, and a few others. But it is really solid and has some awesome features. First, the service here is always friendly. They will cut your brisket the way you like- you want lots of bark and fat? No problem. Next, You go through a cafeteria style line so you can see what your getting. It's all good. I like the selection of sides. Especially the green beans. The bbq beans always seem a bit Al-dente to me.
