Wow! This is a great find. We were warmly greeted upon entering and quickly seated. The server was attentive and made sure my coffee was kept topped off. They served up the best tasting chicken fried steak we've ever eaten. The gravy was incredibly flavorful -- not that tasteless gray stuff that a lot of diners serve. I'm not a big fan of grilled potatoes, but man, they won me over because these were seasoned just right. My only mistake was ordering the full portion entree instead of the half as I couldn't finish everything. Even so, that breakfast held me until dinner time. read more

typically, spring lake is excellent - our go to place for breakfast, but yesterday, 11-16 (Saturday), was a disappointment. ivey wasn't there and it was like the B team was in the kitchen and on the floor . the food was mediocre: eggs were runny, the hashbrowns were not especially fresh, and the bacon was thin and greasy. we will continue to go to the cafe because it is normally excellent. but we will avoid saturdays. read more

We walked in and staff cleared a table and sat us very quickly. Service was great and we were able to order quickly. I got the fried chicken sandwich and my wife ordered breakfast. Her meal was well prepared and she really liked the cinnamon breakfast sausage. My chicken was perfectly prepared- crispy outside tender inside and the sandwich was well balanced and delicious. Diamond in the ruff. Found this little spot when looking for a quick breakfast spot before visiting family in the area. This is smack dab in the middle of a residential area. We weren't sure if they were open because it seemed a little dark inside but we were welcomed by bright friendly faces and clean spacious seating. Definitely a locals spot where we felt very welcome. I ordered the cinnamon French toast and husband ordered the chicken fried steak. French toast is thick and fluffy and flavorful, side of bacon was cooked perfectly. Husbands chicken fried steak was tasty and portions of both were generous. We had to get to go boxes for our left overs, not a common occurrence these days. We arrived with perfect timing, because the place filled up fast. The open at 8 am we arrived at 9 am on a Saturday and by 9:30 a line to be seated had formed. I found this place cause my husband's idea of a great breakfast is a chain restaurant. We are two extremes. We both enjoyed our breakfast. The home fries are amazing. The coffee... and we both are retired Army... I asked for something not as bitter. Event the waitress said that was their only brew and she wished they had more options. She assured us that we weren't the only ones that said something. I don't like paying for something that isn't drinkable. I wish that I could give 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. The chicken fried streak options looked amazing but I don't eat red meat so I asked if they had something similar and they made me chicken fried chicken(not on the menu, yet) and it came out perfect. This place seems to be located in the middle of cozy neighborhood giving it a very comfy homie vibe as well. I enjoyed my time there. Only thing that made me uncomfortable is when my waitress was talking politics to her coworker then asked me for my political opinions, she meant well but politics is not a topic I enjoy talking about during breakfast. read more

We asked our server what she recommends, and she said the Ivy scramble because I'm Ivy. We were NOT disappointed! The employees were so gracious and told us the specials before asking. I wished only that the breakfast menu was available after 11am as I love real fast, but we couldn't get there until later. The food was great and nice crisp bacon, great quiche and the potatoes were crispy. They had a crab melt that looked amazing. The quaint place had enough tables for small groups of 2-6 people and they even helped my mom who was having a rosacea flare up with discreet kindness and some ice. For $20-pretax (yes, you read that dollar amount correctly) they will give you a decent size steak (I am guessing 8-10oz?) cooked to your specifications, veggies, mashed potato, soup or salad, au-jus, horseradish, and.... a slice of either pie or cheesecake or something else (the deserts seem to rotate, probably 5 or 6 choices) - people, it's heaven!! This is the type of business that needs (and deserves) 100% community support during this crazy pandemic. Plan on getting carry-out since they do not have a lot of tables inside (due to the current state mandates) and call ahead... If there is no answer or a busy signal, don't give up, just know that it's because SO MANY PEOPLE know about this awesome deal. And it's not just Thursdays, they have great looking daily specials of different meals all the time and it seems most meal-deals are $20!! We are from Arizona and had flown in to Seattle for a connecting flight to Portland. Our flight was cancelled so we decided to make the drive. I had heard about this place from a travel blog that I follow and was excited to give it a try. We were thankful to see that they were open for take out, but a bit sad that we couldn't hang out in this adorable cafe with super friendly staff. Everything was packed up nicely. They even gave us an extra cup of our drinks without ice for a refill. By the time we got to a nearby park, or food was still hot. I had the Chicken Chipotle Sandwich and hubby had the Fish and Chips. Both were WOW. If ever we're in the area again, this place will definitely be on our itinerary. read more
