None of 4 person party had food worthy of eating more than a few bites. My wife & daughter had chicken parmigiana which was swimming in sauce & rubbery. The waitress asked us what was wrong & we told her. She was nice enough to take a smell of the pork chops after I told her that I would never have served them if I'd owned that restaurant. The grated Parmesan and Breadcrumbs smothered the salad - when you see the picture, you'll understand. It was a good salad, however I would have preferred less grating and more dressing. Next up, the Waygu Meatballs, in a delicious San Marzano tomato sauce. The meatballs were excellent. I was mystified by the accompanying 'jar' of 'basil' ricotta. See attached picture-it's a large amount of ricotta - I tasted it - it was very creamy but the basil was faintly noticeable. I added a little to a meatball and it didn't enhance the 'bite' at all. I was embarrassed leaving this large jar of cheese. We shared the two entrees - the first, Sea Bass on a bed of mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly and had the most delicate taste. It was 'too delicate', if there is such a thing as- for they say, ' good fish, doesn't taste like fish '. However, the fish needed seasoning or sauce - one or the other, or both. The next entree was the mushroom house made ravioli - a tender pasta with a mushroom filling covered in a creamy, earthy mushroom sauce. We also ordered a side of sautéed wild mushrooms and added those to the ravioli - it was a wonderful dish.

We'd have had to wait a bit for an outdoor table, and anyway it was a hot humid day and night so indoors suited us just fine. One friend had the lobster bisque, served with a good chunk of a bread that looked tasty (she's not a bread lover but she enjoyed it so it must have been delicious) and she really liked the soup. Then she added another appetizer, spicy garlic shrimp. Generous portion of 6 shrimp. My other friend had the crabcake & shrimp plate, which came with a side salad that our waitress was savvy enough to bring first when our other friend was enjoying her soup. Some crumbled feta on the side salads, a nice touch. When she ordered, my friend asked if the crabcake had a lot of breading and our server assured her that it doesn't; that turned out to be accurate! I also got that side salad with the Ahi tuna bowl I ordered. This was a bowl of dry, bland white rice (might have been jasmine rice but not strong flavor). On one side atop the rice was a good portion of seaweed salad, which I love. Piled sort-of artistically on the other side of the rice mound were several small slices (6? 7?) of perfectly "black and blue" tuna crusted with both black and white sesame seeds. The fish and salad were delicious but not terribly filling. I ate most of the rice. I noticed that there was a marinade at the bottom and began to mix the rice with the marinade that was tasty. They do add 2.5% for credit cards, but that's fair enough these days. Entrées are on the pricey side, I thought ($39. for the crab/shrimp dish, 32 for my tuna, 12 for the lobster bisque), but there aren't any bargains dining out these days. We had no complaints, other than my somewhat dry rice. I'd like to give it 3 1/2 stars but will err on the generous side. We'll probably return next year on our beach day!

The mussels were good however we had asked if they could be prepared without the chilies. We were told yes by our server (who was a dear really, she was great I don't really blame her for anything) that they could leave out the chilies. Well we ordered them and there was definitely chilies! My friend could not eat them at all. I like spicy and even my eyes were watering. I just question getting bread rolls served with the mussels when the usual service is sliced toasted bread. So, as I said, I think just temper your expectations. This place does have the beautiful view going for it.

This is actually the best restaurant on the Jersey shore. I have been coming down here for 10+ years and nothing comes close. Nestled in the heart of charming Spring Lake this seafood focused establishment is sure to impress. Cafe and seafood market by day, full service restaurant by night. Clearly this chef is inspired. The menu is well rounded and priced appropriately. The portions are proper and the execution is flawless. Ambiance and decor don't skip a beat. Clean, tasteful and inviting. The hostesses were incredibly friendly and welcoming, both at the front and in the back. Service throughout the meal was definitely on the slower side, although our waiter was pleasant and polite. One small thing that bothered me: when I ordered bottled water, the glasses appeared to be taken from a neighboring table that had been sitting there. They may have been perfectly clean and unused, but psychologically I'd rather receive fresh glasses. Not a huge issue, just something I noticed. Now for the food. The crab cake was excellent - easily the highlight of my meal. My friend ordered oysters, and I tried one as well. They were fresh and delicious. For my entree, I asked for a salad recommendation and was steered toward the peach salad. Unfortunately, this was a miss. The peaches were hard and unripe, and the dressing was so vinegar-heavy that I found it nearly impossible to eat. My friend was hungry and less picky than I am, so he ended up finishing it. I politely mentioned the issue to our waiter, making it clear I wasn't looking for anything removed from the bill since the salad had still been eaten. After that interaction, though, it felt like he disappeared for much of the evening, and we had to flag him down to get a dessert menu. Ironically, I decided not to follow his recommendation this time and ordered the chocolate cake instead. Great decision. It was absolutely delicious and ended up being another highlight of the meal. Have you ever had one of those experiences where every recommendation is somehow the wrong one for you? It happens. This is a beachfront restaurant, and maybe the salad was just an off day. The only reason I'm mentioning it is to save someone else from ordering that particular salad if the kitchen is preparing it the same way. Overall: friendly staff, great location, excellent crab cake, fresh oysters, delicious chocolate cake, decent drinks, but slow service and a disappointing peach salad. The fried shrimp were equally delicious, seasoned just right and with a great texture. They were out of whiting, so I went with the catfish for an extra $2. It was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, exactly how catfish should be. Even the fries were great--hot, golden, and not too greasy. Overall, everything I tried was excellent. The ambiance wasn't much. They do have a few tables if you want to dine in but most of the people coming in got their food to go. I highly recommend this place if you're craving quality seafood sides at reasonable price.

I ordered the 'Watermelon Crush', my friend ordered a Bucket of Pina Colada and my husband ordered a bourbon bucket drink. I do not remember the name though. The drinks were way too strong for my liking but my friend and my husband enjoyed theirs. We shared the 'Shrimp and Roasted Corn Queso' which was good. They definitely did not skimp on the cheese. Unfortunately, this appetizer also came out with the main meals. I really dislike when places do that. For our entrees, my husband ordered the 'Bang Bang Salmon' which he loved and thought it was delicious but not worth the $26 price tag. My friend ordered the 'Grilled Skirt Steak' which she seemed to enjoy although it was a small portion. I ordered the 'Grilled Shrimp and Pineapple Skewers' which I did like but the skewers were quite small and it was mostly white rice. Our bill came out to $164 which I really think is WAY too high for these meals or drinks. Our server was nice; but she was rarely there. The busser, however, she was on top of her game and super friendly! It might seem funny to mention the busser, but she was really great. I would not come back and honestly, I think there's other options that are better. If I did recommend it to someone, it would be for the drinks as they had buckets and seemed very popular and 2 out of 3 of my party enjoyed them.
