An update to the last rating. It's been years since our last comment and our little ward has become an 11 year old senior cat. Her condition became a life long burden that has been fully managed and we eventually returned to Spring Valley. It turned out to be luxating patella. Simply put, her knee joint ball and socket is too shallow and under strain her rear knees came pop out and then back in to place. We believe it may have happened for the first time back when we last reviewed Spring Valley. She is a very strong large lady and is very easy going. Because of her size and strength we have learned that some things require up to three people to accommodate. The folks at Spring Vally are very cautious, not to use any force on her hind quarters, and we have never had a reaccurrance at the vet's office. Everyone there loves our little lady and having life long relationships with her providers is the reason for this follow up. We value their commitment to our girls health and a happy life. read more

Going to keep this short because this place is not worth my time... 15+yr customer. Took my French bulldog in for what seemed like a simple ear infection. 4 months, 5 visits, 3 medications, 1 culture later they still were unable to properly treat him...Took him to a renowned vet almost an hour away who identified it immediately as just an allergy. When we were skeptical and asked about the cultures/meds we had had done at Spring Valley he regrettably informed us that those tests were just a way for Spring Valley to make money off of us. The ratings for this clinic should be brought down to a 0. The technicians and receptionists are rude and have no customer service skills. The technicians claimed they cut my dogs nails. When I tried to point out that only a few were trimmed, they argued and told me there was nothing more they could do. I took my dogs to the local groomer, and they agreed that most of the nails were not even touched. The clinic also has signs posted in every room that they have a zero-tolerance for any customer that is intolerant. It makes me wonder why these signs are posted. What is the clinic doing to the customer that is causing the customer to react? Do they realize how bad this makes their business look? My overall experience, the vets are okay but nothing special. They can handle common issues or vaccinations but anything more, you're referred to the local animal hospital or Veterinarian Specialty Center. Most of the prices are higher than the service you receive. The business is run by 20-year-old technicians that have poor communication skills and can't even cut pets nails. The customer service is only for the business, not the customer. I highly recommend against this clinic and would encourage anyone with a similar experience to write a review. read more

Not honest. They charged you expiration meds. (Picture available upon request) I didn't even realize until I used it couple months later to check on expiration date. Then realized it was sold to me when it already expired on the same month. Not honest. They said your dog need laser removal. Other vets said not necessary. They did the surgery and said did not know what the seed was unless you pay an bio test. Even the bloomer knew what the seed was. Second surgery was unsuccessful as they claimed that the seeds might come back.....that's it? On the other hands, the receptionist and all assistance person are very friendly and I have no complaints. They are good and professional. read more

I love this place. All of the staff is super friendly and tell me how adorable my cat is and she's the prettiest thing they have ever seen. They probably say that to everyone but its nice to hear even though my cat IS the prettiest cat ever! The prices are the best around. I used to live in Schaumburg and I called around for prices of all the area vets and found that they are the lowest. I live in Oak Park now but still take my cat all the way to Schaumburg. The only thing I dont like is that they always make me wait forever. So if you make an appointment for a checkup expect it to take up a small chunk of your day. They made me wait so long one time they took 10% off my bill. Its things like that that keep me coming back. read more

We have gone to this vet for over 2 years now, and always had a pleasant experience with Dr. Flanagan and the receptionists. Today Dr. Flanagan wasn't there and I was treated horribly unprofessionally over the phone by Dr. Stewart. I called today with concern over a health issue with my dog, and because of Coronavirus concerns was told I could not be present with my dog during the appt, which is understandable. However, given that in the past I've noticed they try to restrain my dog (who hates hugs/restraint and squirms to no end) while giving exams by putting their arms tightly around him, I told them "please do not do that to my dog, he reacts well to distraction and treats instead- Dr. Flanagan is well aware of this." To this they responded immediately SO hostile and told me to go elsewhere if I didn't trust them. I NEVER SAID I DIDN'T TRUST THEM. I just wanted to let them know, since I couldn't be there, how best to handle my particular nervous dog, so that they could do a proper exam. Dr. Stewart would not have it, continuing to argue with me over the phone and then told me she didn't want to see my dog and to find another vet. Then after she blew up at me, they called back saying they would see him. Sadly, I will not be returning either of my dogs to this practice. During these times of coronavirus, I now have to look for a new vet. So sad, so unprofessional. read more

We moved out the the Schaumburg area in 2002 and have been going to Spring Valley ever since. I love the doctors here! They are all super great, the staff is so friendly and ready to work with you. Plus they love Spike! Everyone goes nuts over him everytime we visit. I've only have one experience where I had to wait for an hour before being seen but it was an semi-emergency visit where they sqeezed us in and it was right before a holiday. read more

So, the only negative I really have here is that they seem very inflexible. I now live in the city and for some reason decided to keep going out to Schaumburg for my pets health needs, I suppose I liked that I knew them and what I was dealing with. I set an appointment up for my dog to go in just for a check up and shots etc. I was stuck in traffic and called to say I would be maybe 10-15 minutes late and that I was sorry, I was already three quarters of the way there. I have never experienced such a caring staff, from front office to the vet techs to the doctors themselves. How many doctors do you know that sit on the floor with your pets to make them feel comfortable? They explain everything you need to know about your pet's condition and really open the door for questions and concerns. When we had to put my beautiful Maggie down, Dr. Stewart sent a hand-written sympathy card to me. A few weeks later I got a note saying that Spring Valley had made a contribution to Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in Maggie's name. My only regret is that I have no more pets to take there! I had a few very bad experiences at this clinic; but the last straw was when the receptionist was on her cell phone the entire time I waited in the lobby and acted as if it were an inconvenience that I had to "interrupt" her personal call to check in. I was kept waiting for an really long time-not only did the vet not apologize for being late, but was then extremely rude to me, rough with my poor little cat who had a serious respiratory issue. I also love this place. The staff is wonderful. It's obvious to me that everyone here loves animals. Yes, on a few occasions I've had to wait because they were running behind, but they had emergencies that day. On the other hand, I've had a few emergencies with my dog and they had me bring her right in, so I'm sure that we caused others to have to wait. The point is that they will do everything in their power to accomodate all their patients and I appreciate that. The vets are the best and when appropriate they will encourage a conservative approach instead of running a lot of expensive tests. So when they do tell me we need them, I know that we really do. It's been 9 years and two dogs and they have never steered us wrong. Highly recommend this practice. read more

Both of the doctors at this clinic are amazing and the staff is extremely caring and friendly. I have never not been met with a smile and I have been going to this clinic for 10+ years. The doctors are very compassionate and it is easy to see how passionate they are about what they do. I couldn't imagine taking my pets to anyone but them because my pets are my babies and I wouldn't trust them with just anybody. The prices are reasonable and I always feel welcome. "stealth" strategy for exams.... a dog was visiting my home when I found a removed a tick. After giving her a thorough bath with a tick shampoo, then coated the wound with an antibiotic cream. Later found what might be the head of the tick still in the dog's head. Looked for a vet in the Schaumburg area to bring her in to check. After explaining the situation, the Spring Valley Vet team informed me that they would not examine her with me present - only in a back room. With questioning, I agreed or would have to bring her home and find another vet. I cracked open the door to observe, wondering what they would not want an owner to see, upon which they firmly closed the door. She's a calm, black lab and I am a calm professional adult I had a dog years ago in Palatine and they always examined her with me present, including when I had to put her down. I've taken this dog to the vet she usually goes to in Wilmette, and they've always examined her and all their animals in the owners presence. While the staff and doctor are friendly and knowledgeable, the need to examine an animal in private, especially in such a minor and calm situation, is highly questionable. Transparency is an essential part of quality services. They advised me to apply an over the counter antibiotic cream to the affected area, which they did not perform as part of the service. read more

I can't say enough good things about this vet. When I first got my cat they discovered she had a heart murmur very young and were able to give good recommendations on cardiologist. My cat has a great deal of congenital heart defects and they have always been very caring and have given advice on how to care for her. I had to rush her to an ER vet late one night and after receiving her records, Spring valley called the next morning to check on her. Today they were able to spay my cat and keep her alive and well considering how cardiovascularly fragile she is. The entire staff is very kind and helpful and my family has been bringing all of our animals here for years now. read more

We started going to Spring Valley vet last August when we got our puppy Daisy and we've been nothing but impressed with the entire staff. To date, we've had to visit for regular 'puppy' check-ups, she was spay back in November, and have had a few 'sick' visits (bladder infection, etc.). You can tell that Dr.Stewart and her team really LOVE these animals, and want the best care for them. They listen to you and provide the treatment necessary for a reasonable price.
