I am very, very picky when it comes to my chocolate. Stopped in here on Saturday night after a great day of hiking and an underwhelming dinner, and I'm sure glad I did! I ordered a chunk of dark choc covered toffee, a chunk of peppermint bark, a dark choc pb cup, a dark choc Utah turtle and the last Kookie Ball they had in the case. First of all, I was surprised to find that the total price for all this was $12! So inexpensive. Then, I was surprised to find that this was some of the best chocolate I've ever had! Amazing in fact! So good that I was pleased to find that they have an online store, and I'm in the process of ordering some chocolate to be shipped to me right now. We enjoyed the candy and ice cream here. The ice cream scoops they give you are huge. We were told we could order up to four different flavors. We also ordered the chocolate covered Oreos and a chocolate covered Twinkie. Most of the candies have different flavors. For the oreos, you could get milk chocolate or dark chocolate flavors. The workers were very friendly. I also bought a Utah coffee mug; which one of the workers wrapped up in bubble wrap. My sister and I came in around 9pm, thinking that they closed at 9, and the woman was so friendly - she explained that they actually closed around 10ish in the summer, and kindly welcomed us back. The portions for ice cream were SO generous too! I had both the Huckleberry ice cream (so cool and tasty) and Brownie ice cream, both delicious. My sister had the dark chocolate sorbet and caramel praline ice cream, also both fantastic! The other owner who checked us out was equally friendly and offered us some advice about our hikes! I am always quizzical of food offerings in major tourist locations, Springdale Candy Company is a genuine high quality, down-to-earth, family run establishment! My friend and I had our eye on this storefront from the first time we shuttled back and forth through Springdale during our vacation in Zion, and one evening after a day of hiking we happily popped in. We chatted with the young man behind the counter, while sampling multiple flavors (the joke was that one could sample 14 or so flavors--all of them--for free and then additional samples would come with a cost). The staff is so friendly and positive; the woman who was working the cash register near the chocolates came over and proudly proclaimed that she ate ice cream for breakfast every day, which I hope is true. All the ice cream is made in Utah, and I ended up scrapping the tub for a scoop of the one flavor that was made right there in house: the amaretto cherry chip. I could taste all the flavors listed in the title, cherry being a subtle but pleasing note. While restaurant food in Springdale can be expensive, the ice cream is wonderfully cheap! About $2 will get one a satisfying sweet treat, whether it's a kid size scoop or two enormous baseball sized scoops of decadent frozen goodness. Eating ice cream here was one of my highlights of my trip to Zion. It is up there with the amazing views of watching the sunset at the Canyon Overlook and completing the Zion Half Marathon. Yes, the ice cream is that good. It is not only affordable, but the staff there are super friendly. We had a small conversation about the half marathon and they even gave 10% off to half marathon runners! There are a lot of delicious treats and candy throughout the shop which I would have gladly stuffed my face with especially after running 13 miles. Great candy store, fresh chocolates made right in the store. Kim was dipping some twinkies in chocolate when we arrived. While we waited for a milk chocolate covered twinkie, Matt had a nice chat with Dave about engineering. We also got a chocolate covered marshmallow, a macadamia and coconut thing with dark chocolate and an almond cluster. Everything was so yummy!
