You will always have a bad experience once in while no matter where you go... Today was it I ordered what I normally order every time I go there and yes... Here it comes I found hair in my food which was not mine... I let them know right away and they offered to refund my money and make the order right. Seeing that the cooks only wear Baseball Caps should not be allowed... Hairnets SHOULD BE WORN UNDERNEATH THEM AT ALL TIMES. The cleanlyness of this establishment is much to be desired... Very rude wait staff. They shout at you from behind the counter to ask what you want to drink and eat. As soon as food is put on your table they give you the check and don't check any further to see if the food is ok. The wait staff from mid-week through the weekend are not personable at all. I live in Stamford about a mile from the Springdale diner, and I work right down the street (I have a very short commute). I had never eaten at the diner before. We usually go to Ron's Deli for lunch (which is excellent, btw). The boss wanted to go to 'a diner' for lunch, so we tried it. I'm sure the place does a decent eggs and coffee business for the train station crowd in the morning (the diner is literally in the train station) but trust me... NEVER EAT LUNCH HERE. The food was terrible. I got a turkey club, which is the meal I use as the measuring stick for diners... it was OK. Turkey was dry, but not in edible. Maybe a 4 out of 10. But I got the lentil soup too... actually good flavor, but the chef must have tasted it and decided..."hmmm,... season is close.... let me add 8 more tbsps of salt to perfected it." wow NaCl bomb. I drank about 6 pints of water that afternoon. My colleagues got: Another club, a fish and chips, and a gyro platter. First, the gyro platter... Ron's, 400 yrds down the road has a gyro platter. Ron's is a greek deli. 'Nuff said. My friend's 'gyro plater' had 2 strips of geometrically cut pieces of over seasoned "lamb" strips on top of tasteless lettuce (yes, I realize that 'tasteless' and 'lettuce' are the same word... that's the point). Obviously right out of the frozen pack. The fish and chips... same thing. 2 perfectly triangular 'fillets' exactly 5/8 of an inch thick from tip to tail... yeah, real fish... sure. yikes. Please, do yourself a favor... even if you like this place for a coffee before your train, NEVER EAT LUNCH HERE. wow.... read more

We went memorial day weekend for breakfast. They were short staffed and the few workers were abrasive and rude. The place is small so when we arrived, we were greeted by "excuse me" instead of good morning. We were there early, before 9am when most tables were empty and we were still rushed. The Older Waitress had zero social skills. Food was terrible. Potatoes tasted old and hard, fried eggs were way too runny and the toast was cold. Service and food were terrible. How can you screw up breakfast???!!!! read more

A group of friends and I came here for breakfast. No one came up to our table to greet us or ask for drink orders. Instead we were stared at and then asked "Do you want drinks?" It really just set the tone for the whole experience. Next, the waitress came over to ask if we were ready to order. So I started and I asked to substitute part of the breakfast with a different side and she said "No, we can't do that. No" very abrasively. I said well I don't want this one part of the breakfast and I don't mind if there is an uncharge. So she then added what I wanted as a side. Then, we were served and everyone was content with the food. However, they did forget part of my order but due to the previous exchange I felt it best not to say anything. As we were finishing our meals the waitress stood against the bar counter with a fellow coworker and stared at us whispering and snickering which made us very uncomfortable. Then, the waitress slapped a handwritten bill on the table, didn't say anything and walked away. We called over another waiter and asked if it was possible to split the bill since there were 7 people in our party. He said you can go up to the cash register to pay. At the cash register was an older man who looked like he just worked the register. I went up with another person from our party to tell him we were going to pay individually for our items on the bill. He gave me a look of disapproval as he called over the waitress that served us. He then muttered to her and then she rolled her eyes. I paid for my part of the bill and then walked back to the table. The other member of our party was paying her part of the bill when she came back to the table and said they were giving her such a hard time she ended up paying the entire rest of the bill. Then as we were finishing our drinks and leaving a very underserving tip we continued to be stared at. Finally, as we were walking out a member of our party went up to the counter to say that she is a regular customer here and enjoys the food, but felt as though the service today was very rude and disrespectful. I always do Pick up when ordering... Found Hair in the food which wasn't mine... Noticed that the cooks were not wearing Hair Nets... For that owner did a reorder and hope that was was enough... Wife got sick after eating food this time... Will not go back again ! Sorry G. Russ read more

Solid little diner. Good prices and fast service. Had a Greek salad wrap w chicken and split pea soup, no complaints.

Being new to the area, we decided to check this place out. I really don't know what the fuss is about unless you eat at Morton's or Charlie Palmer's all the time. Is it outstanding food? No, but it's decent food at a reasonable price and it was easy to get in and out. I had a BLT with grilled chicken that was cooked well and was moist. My husband had a wrap that was also good. They also served some great pickles along with our sandwiches. We will most certainly be back. One gripe is they charge for refills of soda drinks. Seriously? $3 for two 8 oz ( if I'm lucky) sodas is a bit much. read more

My mom and I came here after a few places were closed on a Sunday morning, and it was by far the best choice we could have made! We yelped breakfast in Stamford and Springdale Diner showed up. I had the California Benedict and my mom had the farmers omelet. Both were OUTSTANDING. So fresh and tasty and so filling. I will 1000% be coming back and recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and delicious breakfast. read more

I have never written a yelp review and I made a yelp account specifically to write this. I just had a really negative experience at The Springdale Diner. I have eaten here a few times and it has always been fine. It's cheap and not bad diner food. Today, however, i was treated pretty poorly. I walked in alone and was told to sit anywhere. I chose a booth that was set for 2 people. About a minute later my waitress acknowledged me. Not by coming over and asking how i was or giving me a menu or water, but by shouting at me from across the room in a tone i can only describe as to admonish me "ma'am is it just one?" I quickly realized she was displeased one person was taking up a booth set for 2 people so i smiled and told her i was meeting my fiance in a minute or two. "Fine" she replied , in a tone which told me she was less than pleased. However, at this point she had approached the booth the drop menus on the table, instead of shouting at me from 10 feet away and embarrassing me in front of a restaurant half full of people, so that was good. I should also make note that there were 4 other booths available that were being cleaned and no one waiting for a table at this time. My fiance arrived about a minute later and we began looking at the menus. Our waitress walked past us numerous times (about 5 i believe) to drop food off, pick food up or check on other diners without acknowledging us once. Finally she came over and asked us what we wanted (and in her defense it was in a much nicer tone than she had previously spoken to me in- so that was good). i asked for waters for me and my fiance and she sighed loudly as if to indicate i was asking a lot of her. I then preceded to order. I asked her about a chicken pita sandwich. Below the sandwich it said you could add tomatoes, bacon or cheese for an additional cost. i asked if i could have bacon and cheese added to the sandwich and she told me i could not. i looked up at my fiance confused and he said "but it says we can add them for an additional charge." She looked at us, rolled her eyes and said "whatever" in an exasperated voice. I was shunned to silence, my fiance was not though and said that we would be going elsewhere for lunch. I think it was then she realized she had been treating us poorly because she immediately asked why and then said her "whatever" comment meant "whatever you want", not a rude whatever. I told her i work in the service industry as well and understand customers can be frustrating, but i didn't think we were acting unreasonable at all and didn't deserve to be treated poorly. I also said that when someone says "whatever" while rolling their eyes at you it doesn't normally mean "sure, whatever you want." In the end our exchange wasn't rude or heated, no raised voices (although she was a little alarmed we were leaving), but we told her we couldn't eat there and left. it bummed me out a lot and I won't go back again. read more
