Stayed here a couple nights while looking for an apartment. Like most Marriotts, the hotel is clean, the rooms are decent, the staff is friendly and helpful and they serve a Covid-safe continental breakfast (and with Peet's coffee). Looks good on the outside, poor customer service on the inside.. I booked a king room, but was given 2 double beds, that was not disclosed at my check-in. When my 2XL husband and I were not comfortably able to sleep in the same bed, I was shamed by the manager (Anna Howard) who asked "why not?" I asked to speak with the Managers'Manager and was told there was no one else to talk to at all for in-house resolution of my complaint . I was referred to Marriott Reservations for a public complaint, located in Mexico, for a written filing. 35k spent in points there for a single-night, and I was awarded 4K for my troubles. That's a 10% discount. Horrible. I have never had a Marriott experience like this before. It's an isolated resort problem. In follow up to my complaints, the hotel acknowledged my concerns and appropriately updated due compensation for our trouble. While a day and much aggravation delayed, I do appreciate the reconciled response. read more

We had a comfortable stay at SpringHill Suites in Marina. It is a new hotel conveniently located off the US1. Right across the road is a mall with Target, REI, movie theater, restaurants. There is a bicycle path that goes to the nearby Fort Ort Dunes State Park. It is a 10 minutes drive to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and 20 minutes drive to Carmel and the 17-mile drive. The room is on the small side, but well-arranged with appropriately-sized furniture. Room is clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is included, but offering is sparse. Tiny indoor swimming pool. Plenty of free outdoor parking, with a couple of EV charge stations. read more

Great location, beds were comfy, rooms were spacious. Downfall was the cleanliness. Bathroom shower floors had yellow stains and mirrors has water spots all over. Our room floor had orange stains on the carpet. Make sure you arrive early for breakfast. It gets really crowded and the warm foods will get cold because no one really closes the lids or containers when they open them. You can get freshly made waffles for breakfast which is what I opted for, but everything else was left open and counters weren't wipe down. read more

We very much enjoyed our two-night stay at the Springhill Suites. We appreciated the helpfulness of the professional staff whenever we had a question. We liked the queen bed room layout, living room area, a large TV and a spacious closet. We very much appreciated the microwave, mini-fridge, internet TV and sofa bed. It seems new and was very clean. We had a great ocean views and there were gorgeous sunsets each night. Next time, we'll go check out the rooftop area to see the sunset from there. The food was delicious, too. My family and I usually stay at Embassy because it was the only family friendly hotel in Monterey with an indoor pool and amenities. However their prices have gone way up over the last few years. We decided to try SpringHill as we've stayed at other locations before. This location is perfect! There's an indoor pool, breakfast, food services, and a full bar. If you are debating on a hotel, debate no more. This hotel is the one for you. This hotel was honestly the best hotel I've had the pleasure of staying in. We checked in Saturday night for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The gal who checked us in had extremely good customer service skills. My husband and I both work in an customer service friendly industry so we both really appreciate good CS. This was most definitely a theme with the staff. There wasn't one person who didn't go out of their way to say "hi" or "have a nice day," etc. When we went to check into our room, we were pleasantly surprised that they had left a balloon, some wine, strawberries and chocolates to help us start the anniversary weekend. I later found out my girlfriend called and asked them to do something nice- but they went over and beyond. It was the perfect gesture. The hotel rooms them self are absolutely adorable. Very well laid out. They have a little area with couch and a footrest/ table. A desk acts as a room separator but also has glass panels that open up to allow openness. The bed is very comfortable and the pillows are to die for. I really debated taking one home- that's how great they are. The bathrooms have great lighting, great water pressure, decent counter space, and enough room for 2 people to get ready at the same time without bumping into each other. Another great perk to this hotel is that they have rooftop access! It's safe to bring children because they have high Partitions around it. It looks like it would be perfect for a wedding or party of some kind. Anyway, it's open 24/7! We went up there the first night and enjoyed a beer or two and was in awe of the view. We also came out the next day- view better in the day. Forsure. They have a complimentary breakfast daily and it's very good. Sunday's menu is waffles and it's very popular among its guests! They have eggs, hash brown & sausage meal, bagels, English muffins, fresh juice (4 kinds), cereal, fruit, etc. really anything you normally would eat at home for breakfast they offer. It's all very tasty and fresh. I was highly impressed. Check out is at 12noon. But they are pretty flexible about that; if you need 15 extra min they will allow it. 1 negative thing: they don't have a hot tub. But they have fire pits off the first floor lobby that overlook the cliffs and beach view. Overall my experience was outstanding. Newly built in June 2017 and it feels it. Great ocean views except for overlooking the retail power center with Target, etc. The breakfast was pretty standard for Springhill but nicer eating areas and some more pizzazz with some oatmeal and accoutrements. The rooftop is cool but would benefit from a bar and some seating. Didn't check out the pool or exercise room so I can't say but my kids enjoyed it. Staff was helpful dealing with the little things like getting extra blankets but when my kids plugged the commode, they handed us the plunger instead of maintenance coming. The issue was that it didn't work so well with the pointed shape of the bowl. I've fixed the solution many a time but this one took longer. (I should've had the kid fix it but wanted to avoid the added mess). I have really appreciated other properties who have the "power flush". Just saying. read more

I've stayed at this property on two separate occasions and had a similar experience both times. Overall, it's not a bad hotel, but the price doesn't justify the stay. There's free parking and a shopping plaza across the street with a Starbucks and a target. Customer service here is really good. The hotel is newer and my room was really clean. On the first day, the WiFi wasn't connecting which was frustrating because the phone service around the location of the hotel is weak. The room was really nice. The bed was decent. The reason for the 3 stars is because of noise, weak water pressure, and almost no interesting TV channels to watch. As others have said, you can hear conversations in neighboring rooms. The doors slam really loudly and it was pretty constant. Unless you're on the top floor, you'll also hear the person walking in the room above you. The shower was fine, but the water pressure from the sink is very weak. As previously mentioned, the TV doesn't have any good channels to watch. Couple that with the WiFi not working and it can get boring really quick. I would stay here again but the nightly rate has to be much, much lower. read more

We loved our stay here. Location is close to many tourist destinations and by the beach. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

This is a new property having just opened in June/July. The entrance is a little odd and lacks signage, and Google maps tells you to turn right instead of left. Could use some signage at the driveway. The good news is that it's plain as day where the hotel itself is so you pretty much CAN'T get lost. That's really the only negative thing I can say. Since everything is pretty much brand new the place looks great! The lobby/reception area has several televisions and plenty of seating with a fireplace. It's also got an ocean view when it's not foggy outside. The outside patio has fire pits and looks pretty nice although I didn't go out there. Also inside the lobby area, for all your libation needs, a FULL BAR! The girl at the check-in desk couldn't have been friendlier and I was on my way to my room in no time. As I walk into my room the lights are on so I can actually see when i first walk in. Not all of the lights, just enough to make it bright enough to navigate the room when your hands are full. The room was clean and had several creature comforts like multiple USB ports for charging as well as outlets for larger devices. The desk was pretty modern looking with privacy glass making a sort of divider in the room. There's a couch and an ottoman behind you as you're sitting at the desk. Two really cool things I liked.. The wall mounted big screen is mounted of a swivel so you can direct it towards what ever part of the room you happen to be in. Also I liked the sliding barn style door to the bathroom. The bathroom was nice with a big shower (no tub) with clear glass. The vanity was well lit and all the consumables are Paul Mitchell per standard Marriott. A spacious, clean, comfortable room with a new bed and your choice of pillows. The in-room WiFi is blazingly fast. Somewhat unusual for a hotel. The breakfast was nice, eggs, sausage, lots of fresh fruit, an oatmeal station and choices in juice. There were also muffins, bagels, and assorted breads for toasting. A new/modern SpringHill Suites with a good FREE breakfast! This hotel was renovated in 2017 and it definitely shows. The hotel is super clean and the rooms reflect that. No complaints about the hotel, rooms, or morning continental breakfast. The hotel is a great SpringHill Suites, it isn't a JW Marriott hotel... so keep your expectations in check, but it's very nice for the price and property rating. Extremely disappointing stay - new hotel with incompetent staff, incomplete works What do you look for in a hotel? A clean room, a decent breakfast offering, reliable WiFi connection. Those are my basic criteria, not too demanding by Marriott's standards but these guys failed on every count. It was a special vacation for us as we celebrated Fathers Day. Unfortunately, we were disappointed on several levels. Being a newly opened operation, there are still kinks they need to work out but it is not right to charge inflated rates while unable to deliver the full amenities or service. There were a few misses but our big one was that housekeeping staff neglected our stay. We left the hotel close to mid-day. When we returned, the room was in a mess, garbage bins full, dirty and used towels unchanged. There was no coffee/ tea for the next morning. It was close to 10pm - as you can imagine, an unwelcoming sight for a family of exhausted bodies who needed rest, not to do the job of the housekeeping staff. Those ladies were dismissed late afternoon so we basically had no recourse. On the next day, we were more than dismayed by the response from the interim manger, "Danielle"? She went on to accuse us that it was our fault that the "extra snooze" tag was hung on our door. This was not true. When we left, the housekeeping crew were cleaning our floor. As her trolley was only a few doors away, my son requested for a bottle of water from her. She was told we were leaving the room and it required servicing. We were gone all day. How could she have missed the room? How did the tag appear on our door? I wish there was a camera in the hallway to capture whoever put that tag on our door. When we returned to our room, the TV was strangely left on. I was certain no one in our family had turned it on since the remote control was put away, as our family do not watch TV. A relaxed holiday now turned into a puzzled and frustrated experience as we began to wonder if anyone had entered our room in our absence. There was no apology but instead an indignant attitude. The breakfast area has a long line of people waiting for the waffle station - the most popular station among kids and adults alike. There were only two waffle stations and so expect the wait to make your single waffle to run between 15-35 mins and longer when any one person makes multiple waffles for their family. The fault does not lie with people making multiple waffles but the establishment not addressing a recurring issue - really the worst way to begin your day: standing few inches behind a stranger, waiting awkwardly, staring at the machine and counting down the seconds till each person in line flip their waffle.. The following day, the crowd lessened and so my family was going to enjoy our first waffle. that did not happen because we were told they do not put out the waffle station on a weekday?! The sausages - the only other hot food on the buffet table besides oatmeal - was over cooked. When we politely asked if they could cook another batch, they turned out the same - rubbery and overcooked. We overheard from many other guests both at breakfast and in elevators complaining the WiFi was weak - surprising considering this hotel is catered to business persons. I lost connection while online and had to leave the building to get better reception. To me, if you can't even get the most basic necessities right, nice fancy looking furniture and chic architecture cannot make up for the misses. Our room was so called "upgraded" to an "ocean view". In actual fact, our window looks out to the foreground of Target and a huge mall with fast food restaurants, empty parking lot and brightly lit up even in late night hours. Do not expect to hear the waves or have a view of the dunes or water. There was no spa - no hot tub/sauna so i not sure why they call the swimming pool area "Spa". When we asked if the tap water was portable no one in the whole hotel could answer that simple question. The newly hired lady at front desk told us how they are so excited about the new plans underway including a new roof top bar under construction. Obviously, they are far from being ready to offer the class or service to their guests. We chose to stay at this property because it is a Marriott extension and we are Platinum Elite members. Between us, we average 200 nights at Marriott's international properties/ year. We felt less than welcomed or comfortable in our first stay here. When the room rate for the two nights was in excess of $500 ($284++ for the Fathers' night), we were expecting better than Motel 8 service. The hotel has potential to be a great one - but management needs to step up in training staff at all levels on how to address issues guests are facing and understanding hospitality 101. If they are still far from from getting their act together, it is not right for them to be opened or be charging guests the full rate as no one deserve the sub par treatment. read more

Great location of the hotel. Located next to many food and shopping stores. Love how there is a Target right across the street. Employee are friendly and fast. Checkin was a breeze. The hotel is relatively new. I believe its less than a year old. Decor is very modern and simple. Breakfast is included and they have an indoor swimming pool. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Room has a bed, work area, couch, microwave, fridge, and ample of space for luggage. Definitely one of the top hotels I've stayed in. Stayed here and traded in points for 2 nights. Paid for the third night at $370 for a normal (backside of the hotel) room. Ridiculous rate for the hotel. The upgraded ocean view rooms are not worth paying for. They stare across a giant shopping center and are very far from the ocean. Glad I didn't pay for that. Hotel is new which is a plus, but our room was surprisingly dirty and loud. Floors not washed, counters not wiped. As others have said, you can hear your neighbors like they are staying in your room. We could hear them talking at normal voice levels. Paper thin walls. Glad we were on the top floor at the very end of hallway away from the ice machine. WiFi worked fine the entire time. Sounds like they fixed that from reading other reviews. The fire pit area would be cool if you could see anything, but it stares right at the shopping center. My wife and I went up to the rooftop deck thinking that would be cool, but as of now it only had one park bench for the entire floor. It didn't look like anyone has cleaned up there in weeks. Old drinking glasses and towels up there. I went up top 2 times and it was still there at the end of our trip. Only pros I can see is if you were with kids and wanted a pool and free breakfast. That part would be worth it, but not at the price we paid. read more

To be fair, this is a new property with some growing pains to work through. The staff was diligent and tried their best to solve our issues. But the issues were many: -the wifi never worked in our room. After many, many times checking in with the staff, the issue was never resolved. My husband had to take work calls at the bar. -the walls are paper thin. We can hear every word that our neighbors said, and every time they bumped into furniture or walked. -the decor is modern and lovely, but the actual user interface doesn't make any sense. Light switches are hard to find, doors don't open correctly (we had to move the furniture to open the cabinet door leading to the fridge), and the bathroom is long but skinny (hard to move around.) -the area designated for breakfast was not done well. The space does not accommodate the number of guests, and you bump into each other constantly because the food and various utensils are not laid out with thought. read more

Just like what other people have said, dirty room and poor customer service.....stay at your own risk. We found an empty can and a bunch of candy wrappers behind the cushions and when we complained to the front desk, because of COVID concerns, they had house keeping come to clean the couch. While the lady was vacuuming, you can hear the vacuum picking up a ton of particles, sounded like they had never vacuumed the couch or around it. Also the headboard smells like someone's bad body odor, it was very unpleasant. I went on Yelp to check the reviews (regret not doing it before) but they confirmed my suspicion that this hotel cuts corners and do not clean their rooms throughly. We were told the manager will call us the next day, but we never heard from them, so my husband went to the front desk later in the day to talk to the manager. So I had a hard time deciding how many stars to give this hotel, and I think three is a good-ish number. I really wanted to like this hotel, but some things just didn't not meet expectations. The hotel is not completely finished outside (which is not a deal breaker considering the inside is). When you walk in it's brand new. The staff are incredibly welcoming and fast. We asked for more pillows before we entered the room and they arrived right away. Now when my family and I arrived into the hotel room, it was brand new never been touched! It looked great. The view is of the parking lot. If you want an ocean view I don't think this place is going to give you it. I went to place my jacket on the desk chair, and there were ANTS on the table! We called the front desk and the room change was quick and painless, but the new room has ants in the bathroom!! I know ants can be hard to get rid of, but this place has been open what a month? They could have waited until this issue was sorted. Another major miss of his hotel is their wifi. If you plan to come to this hotel to use some wifi, you will be entirely disappointed. The wifi is slow and in/out. Maybe it will change in the future (it's an open network), but don't come here planning to use it.. it's that bad. Also, I do wish they had a safe in the rooms. That's something I think the hotel should consider! I know not all hotels have them, but the room is so nice I would definitely see that making a big impact. Some redeeming qualities is the hotel is clean and everything is brand spanking new. The gym is nice. It has two treadmills, elliptical, seated bike, free weights, bosu, matts, and a bench. The pool is indoor and theirs a outdoor porch with a fire pit. If you are wanting to stay at this location there's a Starbucks and target near by which is convenient, AND the best part is the fresh breakfast. They actually have GREAT coffee. Price was a little high , but I love that there is a shopping center right across the way . Plenty of food and shopping to do . Hotel room was nice and clean , we brought our own disinfectant spray just to be safe. Loved that we had a fridge and microwave . We did stay on the 1st floor so the people above us were pretty noisy . Sounded like a stampede up above us . Their complementary breakfast was cereal and a muffin and some kind of bar ..... not too impressed with that . Also their pool was indoor which was a plus , but super small . Open just 12 days according to the front desk. Very nice building with comfortable rooms. The reason for the 3 star rating is the wifi was not functioning. Being unable to log in with the guest wifi or the free wifi in the lobby was a bit frustrating when I needed to get some work done on my laptop. I ended up using my phone as a hot spot to send a few files. Not ideal when Internet is one of the amenities advertised. We lived at this hotel for six weeks while relocating to the area and buying a home. It is a wonderful place, very homey and the staff is friendly and helpful. They followed all Covid protocols and it always smelled very clean. Free breakfast in the mornings with lots of choices. Free parking, which is rare at hotels here and priceless for us with five cars. Check out the rooftop area, with a great view of the ocean and places to sit and enjoy. There are two outdoor fire pits with sofas that people used a lot. There is also an indoor pool and workout room. Walk across the street to a Target shopping center with Starbucks and other great eating options (the teriyaki place was our fave). We paid extra for oceanview rooms and it was worth the peek at the ocean each morning while drinking coffee. Rooms come with a mini fridge and microwave, very convenient. We also used their washer and dryer many times and it was nice to have. I still drive by it and remember it fondly. Highly recommend! read more

I've stayed here several times now and am always impressed. The rooms are nice and clean, the hotel is peaceful and quiet. The rooftop is super cool especially at sunset/night time, so is the deck with multiple couches and fire pits. Really quick drive to Carmel/Monterey. You're down the street from CSUMB in a cute little neighborhood with Starbucks, Target, REI, a movie theatre, and quick service restaurants across the street. We had our son's reception here. We wanted to have our celebration outdoors due to COVID. From the beginning, Navdeep was so kind to us, patiently working with us during this very difficult time with county mandates. She went out of her way to make the reception such a memorable experience. I encourage couples, if you need a private, intimate venue, think of their convenient location. There is the indoor ballroom or the gorgeous outdoor patio area....The views, the weather and super clean facility make it an ideal destination !! We were quickly welcomed and checked in. Staff is very friendly. The room was spacious and had great decor. Only downfall was our room was for 5 people but only one TV and it isn't situated in the best viewing spot. Also had a light above the bar in the room that we never found an off switch for. The bartender was very friendly and gave pointers on places to go. The food available was actually pretty good but the prices are too high. $15 for a salad The breakfast area was far too cramped and while the staff was trying their best to replenish items they couldn't keep up. Especially because they were having to try and squeeze in between guests to do so. I think expanding the breakfast hours would cut down on the rushes. Typical breakfast items. I was excited to give this "new-ish" hotel a chance...but I just can't. This place is horrible. They designed the event room, right below a handful of rooms, that have to just suffer until the music gets cut off at 10pm, via really loud music that literally shakes the walls/floor. I feel like I'm at a club. My kids can't sleep.(and they are melting down) Tried to call front desk several times with no answer. Had to walk down. Tried to change rooms, but they are full. The girl at the front desk seriously told me that "everyone has the right to have a party here", after I calmly said that since the designer/builders made such a huge mistake in how the floor plan is, they should proactively flag the rooms that are affected during events & not assign families with small children to those rooms. She asked if I wanted her to go tell them they had to turn it down & at first I said no, because she said they would be done by 9pm. At 9:15, I couldn't take it any longer & tried to call the front desk. Had to call & let it ring for a full 5 min(yes, I did that) before they answered. She laughed and said "oh ya, I was wrong, it's 9:30pm actually". No apology. No empathy. Music got twice as loud for the next 7 minutes, then got turned down. It's now 9:45pm & we can still hear music, plus people yelling. I will never stay here again. read more

This should no be a Mariott chain bc it does not comply with any other Mariott chain I have ever stayed at before. I checked in and got to my 1st room, and there were 3 guys working on it. They told me to wait while they take 2 minutes to finish up or enter to room with them-ummm NO!!!! I proceeded to.wait outside till the guys who checks me in, happens to bring another room on same floor sheets,towels, etc. He comes over and checks and appologize and checks me into another room. Room 2 is dirty. Desk is dirty, not wipped, crumbs on floor and I wasn't even going to complain until I went to check the bed. Gross, stains on the blanket. I called down and asked the same front desk guy to come up and transfer me to another room. He comes up, and I ask him to go with me to check out room 3. Room 3 has lint all over the sofa and the sheets are messy and not tucked in. I think they were not changed at all. By this point I am tired and just ask for sheets and changed the sheets myself. I do not think I will be going back here. The towels look so old and like another reviewer said, from another hotel bc they were frayed and used. Not up to Mariott standards at all! read more

I really wanted to love this place but there are some significant enough annoyances that I can only give it 3 stars The pros: - really friendly reception staff + breakfast room staff - spacious room, still has "new" feel - TV is set up so you can enter you Netflix ID / password and access your account (it's erased at time of checkout) - clock radio has Bluetooth so you can stream your music from your phone to the speakers - complimentary breakfast items kept in stock throughout a busy morning rush (and the scrambled eggs were good, the strawberries fresh!) - across the street from almost all retails stores you could want + Starbucks, Chipotle and Smashburger - convenient and easy drive (about ~20 mins) to Carmel/Monterey The cons (roughly in order of annoyance): - they never cleaned by bathroom during my entire stay (hairs left in shower and on floor of bathroom, toilet never cleaned) - WiFi is weak and spotty - the doors bang loudly each time they are shut - makes it REALLY hard to sleep if your hall-mates are coming in and out - they never vacuumed the room during my entire stay (I know since I spilled some popcorn near the desk on my first night and couldn't pick up all the little crumbs by hand) - no freezer section in the mini-fridge - they didn't replace the bag in my ice bucket on any of the mornings after I had gotten a bucket of ice, instead leaving me with a bag of melted ice - the sausage at breakfast has been consistently over-cooked read more

Exactly what you would expect from a SpringHill Suites. Clean and comfortable. Front desk employees were helpful. A bit far out from Cannery Row, the aquarium, etc. But not a big deal. Would stay here again. read more

I really liked this property. It's fairly new, close to shopping and not that far from downtown Monterey. Easy access from Route 1 freeway. A good value compared to other more expensive hotels in the area. Definitely would return. read more

Staying at the SpringHill Suites by Marriot was by far the most amazing experience of my family's lives. It felt like our home for the last 3 days and it was so crisp clean and extordinary. My family especially my wife and 3 kids felt so relaxed and comfortable. We came here to Monterey for my wife's 32nd birthday and she says this was her best birthday ever. Our favorite thing about this acceptional hotel was the public patio that had a bonfire and me and my wife were able to unwind with a nice glass of wine. So romantic for couples. We also celebrated our 14th year anniversary here. We will definotely be coming back for our next vacation for sure. The room was very organized and modern. The staff were very friendly and professional at all times both front desk and cleaning service were very helpful with everything we needed to make our stay as smooth as possible. I love this hotel. If I could rate 100 stars I would. Also covid restrictions and safety protocols were followed in the best possible way. We cannot wait to return next time. I WILL BE BOOKING A WEEK STAY BECAUSE 4 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH. Also stores restaurants beach and anything you need is very close by and the area is very kept up and beautiful. I feel very safe here. I've stayed here last year since its relatively new. This year 2018 i decided to prepay my 5 night stay. What a mistake!!!! Room 432 had foul smell and then ants in the room. When i complained to the GM (Anna Henry) she denied smelling anything and said she saw no ants in the room. I am a platinum member and got very little respect and recourse. She wouldn't even let me move to different hotel (Monterey Marriott?) and refund my remaining nights b/c i prepaid. Terribly run hotel. Won't stay here again EVER!! read more

This place was absolutely terrible. We were a group of students traveling around and the experience was disappointing. 1. They over booked and nearly half of our rooms were "lost". Even though we booked WAY ahead of time and got here on time for check in. 2. The service was absolutely horrifying. Rude and inconsiderate. 3. One of the rooms was flooded in the bathroom. 4. Many rooms were out of power. I would've expected and enjoyed more hospitality if the employees actually acted like they appreciated and enjoyed their jobs. The overall experience was stressful and frustrating. The ONLY reason I gave a one star is because the rooms are nice, in the way the set up and the layout. read more
