Adonis and Delores waiting to go to Springtown

I see that some folks have had bad experiences with Springtown (which I understand people can get stressed about their pets because our pets are our babies) but we have only ever had wonderful interactions with the staff at Springtown. We have been going to them for about four years now and even when we moved an hour away last year we still make the trip monthly because they are in your opinion the best vets in Texas. I fully endorse them for anyone looking for a caring and engaging vet staff. I appreciate their support with my two crazy Frenchies and cat, they have always been available, responsive and friendly thus why we still drive a hour each way to get our dogs treated there.

In the last month both my mother and myself experienced two unexpected major medical problems with each of our female Chihuahua mixes. At the start of October my elderly mother's dog developed an extremely severe case of canine IMTP ( an acute autoimmune disease) that was quite serious and life threatening. Springtown took her on short notice as an emergency case and Dr. Dan Nowland was able to diagnose and treat her immediately. He was very upfront with us that this was a life threatening situation and things were very critical. He and his amazing staff worked diligently and aggressively to bring my mothers dog back around. She was quite difficult to treat as she refuses to take medication and Dr. Nowland was wonderful about ordering special compounded medications that could be mixed with food. The communication that we received from Dr. Nowland and staff during her 10 days of hospitalization was outstanding. I can't emphasize enough how professional and skilled everyone working at Springtown has always been. My mother's dog has continued to do extremely well upon discharge and the staff has been excellent at communicating how long term management of this disease will play out and exactly what we need to do. Following the discharge of my mother's dog my Chihuahua mix suddenly developed a large abdominal mass in the lower left quadrant and refused food. I need to preface by saying that my dog is an incredibly difficult case because she, like my mother's dog had been a stray some years ago and has an incredibly distrustful approach to anyone that isn't family. Without mincing words...she is darn nasty and will bite anyone who she doesn't know that tries to touch her. This makes vet care extremely difficult. Simple vaccinations have always been a horrible ordeal with this dog. I had a vet in Kyle actually refuse to spay her several years ago because of how difficult she is. Unfortunately she was left intact and kept away from males thinking we had no options for her. She is the most loving and loyal dog with family but Is truly a risk for strangers. When this mass developed I was beside myself because I knew treating her was such a struggle. When this mass suddenly appeared I called Springtown right away and they agreed to see her that morning even after being fully warned about her aggression issues. Dr. Dan Nowland again comes to the rescue. Springtown was able to get her sedated and via imaging was able to diagnose that she had developed a very large hernia and her uterus had prolapsed into said hernia. Dr. Dan informed us that this would be a complicated surgery to spay her and repair the hernia but assured us that he would immediately take her to the OR if we OK'd the procedure. Everything went beautifully and our super grumpy pup was ready to come home the next day. Ideally she would have overnighted with them a bit longer but her refusal to take meds and dislike for everyone made at home recovery a better option. This practice was accommodating to her issues above and beyond. Never did I feel like she received lesser treatment because of her difficult behaviors. Everyone employed there is always so incredibly nice and professional. Also, I had stopped using Springtown for routine care several years ago because we moved out of San Marcos and I had young children at home...we just wanted someone here in Kyle. When I called them for help with these two serious medical issues they were nothing but helpful and welcoming. This practice is worth the drive and every penny spent on care. I thought that using a vet close to home for convenience was the way to go but the quality of care wasn't even close to we received at Springtown. It is worth the drive, especially with convenient drop off and pickup times. If you ever find yourself in a position where a pet has a complicated or very serious medical condition there is no better place than this clinic. The pricing for the quality of care is very reasonable. After many years as a pet owner I'm convinced they truly are the very best in the area.

I was really nervous to take my 2 cats for a check up. Dr Martin and the whole team were so kind, took their time, and really did their best to make us feel comfortable. It was a really positive experience overall! Also, the office was so quiet and calm--definitely helped my cautious cats feel at ease. I'm glad this vet was recommended to me. And--bonus points for the funny sign!

I was hoping it would be a positive experience for him to socialize with other dogs, I didn't expect to have as much fun as I have going with him though. The class format is 15 minutes off-leash play interspersed with 5-10 minute guided on-leash sessions. You focus on one command each class with the idea being that you learn the basics of teaching the command and finish the training on your own at home. I like that the focus is on practical commands and not silly tricks (not against teaching those, just figure you can teach those on your own time). Our instructor, Bridget, has been great. I can imagine it's tough working a room with as many as a dozen or so pups running around, but she always took time to give everyone individual attention and make herself available for questions and practical answers. It's also a great way to meet other people. I'd often look forward to seeing some of the pup parents as much as their pups each week. Overall, it's a great environment for everyone and as an added bonus we attended the class held at Austin Corner Vet East, which is fantastic since that's also our vet. Dahboo's now excited to pull into the parking lot of his vet -- mission accomplished! :) We've enjoyed the class so much we'll be continuing on with the next class in the sequence and look forward to more fun working with Karma Dog Training as Dahboo works toward his therapy certification.

As a first-time puppy parent, I was somewhat unsure of what to expect with a new puppy, and the trainers provided excellent coaching and advice throughout our 7-week class. During the first class, Dexter was so nervous that he was finding every corner possible to hide in. The trainers coached us on the best ways to encourage Dexter to socialize and by the third week of class, he was eager and excited to play with all the other puppies. The socialization aspect of class was exactly what our shy puppy needed to come out of his shell. In addition to that, the training portion of the class was very helpful. Each class focused on one of the seven basic commands that puppies need to learn, and Darci provided very clear explanations of how to teach and reinforce each command. Then, we were able to practice and get feedback from Darci and the other trainers in order to help Dexter master each command. Finally, Karma Dog Training provides excellent customer service. Any time I have reached out with a question or scheduling conflict, they have responded within hours with a helpful and understanding response. Dexter can't wait to continue with the next level of classes at Karma Dog Training!

I have been impressed with every single interaction we've had with the doctors, techs, and staff at Tickle-Blagg in every routine visit we've had. This last Thursday, though, we experienced a very scary emergency with one of our dogs, and I just can't express enough how wonderful our experience here was. They were flexible with our timing due to difficult circumstances, quick to see us in when we arrived, and Dr. Jordan was quick to come to the exam room. Every box was checked, from start to finish. They were kind, informational, patient, explanatory, and considerate. Even Dr. Blagg, who wasn't our doctor for this visit, came to see how our little dude was while we were there. I really could go on and on, but I think this paints the picture. What a wonderful place -- I'm so glad they're here!

Today, I check my emails to see a cancellation email sent from Buddy's. I will be leaving for my trip in a few hours and now am left with no sitter for my pets. The cancellation email also stated that these vaccination records would be due before or AT APPOINTMENT arrival. Spoke to receptionist who seemed like she could care less, then was handed over to the "manager" who was very argumentative & stated that they have 40+ reservations today & that the shot records needed to be turned in 24 hrs in advance. Where was this on the email?? Sounds more like the so called "manager" over booked the place and is now just cancelling reservations? I read off both of my emails to her that clearly stated I could bring them for proof upon arrival and she still argued saying that another one was sent yesterday but i have absolutely no record of that. I also requested to speak to the owner or a number that I could call and she declined giving me any further help even though this was THEIR mistake. Horrible horrible horrible.
