The Red Velvet Cupcake from here has always been one of my favorite desserts that you can get anywhere. The family flew in for Thanksgiving and mom requested a dessert. I was walking in Hyde Park, actually I n a mission to go to Sephora when I saw cupcakes! Naturally I had to go right in. Priorities! I had their February special flavor which was a chocolate chocolate chip cupcake with raspberry buttercream frosting. It was wonderful! I actually came back two days later and bought another one,plus an extra for later. Then when I got home to Boston I still kept wishing I could have another one. I ordered a dozen cupcakes to be shipped to me. They came the next day and they are flash frozen so I can keep them in the freezer for when I want one. It sure would be nice if they opened up a location in Boston,hint hint! Super cute cupcakes mini store! They have all kinds of flavors to choose from, some staple flavors and some rotating seasonal flavors. I got a gingerbread cupcake from the store and it was so delicious! They also have other seasonal flavors now like red velvet, salted caramel, etc with holiday sprinkles and toppers. And to really make the buying experience special, they have a cupcake ATM out in front of the store stocked with staple flavors - the cupcakes come in a cute pink box. Also if you buy a cupcake in store and take it to go (which is most of the time as there are no tables/chairs inside to sit and enjoy), they have a paper holder at the bottom of the paper bag to secure your cupcake so the icing doesn't get messed up. read more

Hubby and I were heading home and decided we wanted to get something sweet. Late evening sweet cravings, ugh terrible, but what can we do, lol. Stopped in to Sprinkles. First parking is terrible, very hard to find some where to park, but after a few laps hubby found a spot. Definitely recommend curbside pickup because of the parking issues. We ordered four pack, red velvet, raspberry, chocolate and strawberry. Now red velvet is my favorite cake and I've tasted many from a lot of different places, Holly's Cupcakes tops the list for red velvet cupcakes for me. Sprinkles red velvet was not as moist as I would have liked but it was okay. Small and full of icing. Raspberry was a lil more flavorful to me, the raspberry filing helps make the cake not to dry. I tasted hubby chocolate cupcake, was not a fan as I could taste the bitterness in it. The establishment is a cute little building with nice service. Overall the cupcakes were just okay to our palates. Cakes not to good the next day so make sure you eat them the same day you buy them. I love the concept of a cupcake only storefront but I think it's a bit overpriced for the quality of the goods. I paid about $5 and some change + tax for one cupcake and it was pretty dry and small. I think the overcompensation of icing make its look bigger / more "appealing" than it really is. You also order through a kiosk that's self-operated. I have been here a couple times and even got Ben hooked on their cupcakes. They are really just awesome cupcakes and I have even gone out of my way to plan my trips into Tampa to get them. I know, a little crazy but oh well. When I knew I was going to be spending the day with my two nieces I knew they would love Sprinkles and love seeing the Cupcake ATM. We didn't use the ATM because they were open and we were getting more than one. Note: the ATM is 50 cent more than inside so if they are open go inside for some savings. It is really simple, you walk inside, decide what you want and place your order on one of two self service screens and pay. A few minutes or in our case, seconds later you'll be given your cupcake(s) in a box. They even have pupcakes, which I got for my little Asia. They have vegan and gluten free options for those who need/want that which is nice. Though small, they do have a few places to sit inside with small tables. The girls and I sat inside and shared 1 cupcake (I knew they were gonna have a ton more sugar so we shared). It was cute to see their eyes light up and then beg to try another flavor. LOL. I'm so happy that I was finally able to check this place out due to it being hyped up so much. I recommend to others to check this place out. The bakery is located in the beautiful downtown Hyde Park area. When I arrived it was not busy inside. There is an option to order inside on the kiosk or outside on the kiosk. I decided to order inside. Placing the order on the kiosk was very simple. Once submitted my cupcake was ready within minutes. I decided to try the blueberry pie cupcake. It was delicious. Better than I expected. The bottom of the cupcake had a crumbly pie-like crust consistency. The cupcake itself was very cake-like. The filling was DELICIOUS. Reminded me of a blueberry pie filling. Sweet, slightly tart. I felt that there was a good amount of filling. It wasn't overwhelming. The frosting was very good. It was a very good buttercream frosting. Very well balanced flavors and textures. I will definitely return to try other cupcakes. I devoured this cupcake within minutes because it was that good. read more

The flavors I tried were not complicated but also not too creative. Although these are big cupcakes, I didn't feel they were too much or too sweet. Like always, awesome customer service from staff who was eager to help and explain new products and questions I had. I also picked up a few other treats in addition. I like how they now have a Gluten Free Lemon Blueberry cupcake on the regular in addition to their Gluten Free signature Red Velvet cupcake flavor. I was impressed by the look of their layer cakes which were on display and I cannot wait to try them. The "Bake Box" looks great also, where you can select and customize your treats to your liking. The dark chocolate was good - it was moist and flavorful, but nothing out of this world that would make me drive all the way to Tampa for a cupcake. Maybe my expectations were set too high from all the hype. Would I eat a cupcake from Sprinkles again? Of course! I just didn't think it was a knock-your-socks-off, out of this world, amazing cupcake, that is worth a special trip to Hyde Park Village. The cupcakes were $3.99 which seemed reasonable. They offer some really unique flavors (some special cupcakes cost extra) and given their location and the quality of the cupcake, it was worth it. The restaurant had signs indicating customers needed to wear masks and that social distancing was enforced, which is reassuring. Overall the store was very clean, something that is always important to me when it comes to dining out. The coolest part of the store was actually outside - they had a Cupcake ATM! Yes, that's right, a CUPCAKE ATM! Craving a special Sprinkles cupcake at 2 am? You're in luck! The Cupcake ATM works like a regular ATM but dispenses yummy cupcakes 24 hours a day. I didn't notice the ATM until after I had purchased my cupcakes, so I didn't get to try it - but it is definitely on my list for my next visit to Hyde Park Village. read more
