Paul patiently went above and beyond...he educated me on different brand/model road bikes. He never pressured me to purchase anything. He rushed me through his store I felt he wanted me out . Not the welcome expected from a beach commuted bike shop. He asked his staff to do something the staff looked at him like . You do it . Cute spot to get advice or repairs for a bike or to pick out a new one. I'm not quite in the bike buying market yet, but we brought my husband's bike there a few months ago to get a "check up." They said they didn't have any availability (or space) for us to leave the bike then, but we brought it back a few days later with an appointment. The staff was friendly and I feel like the repair prices were fairly reasonable. They have a few parking spots behind the building, fyi. When we picked up the repaired bike (new tires and a new spoke where one had broken) we also wanted to try out some electric bikes. My husband was allowed to hop on one and ride it around the block. I was a little more wary to do that (ugh I haven't ridden a bike in ~15 years) but I did sit on a few. I really hate posting this update since I'm not directly blaming Sprocket Cycles. I bought my Electra eBike in April. I took it to Sprocket for a complimentary tune-up in September. They didn't provide a "loaner" as promised when I made the purchase so i called Uber to pick me up. When I returned to pick up the bike it had a braking problem (which didn't exist when I dropped it off). I brought the bijey back on and they couldn't repair the problem so they ordered a part. It's now been 3 months and no part arrived and my bike is collecting dust in my garage. I complained to Electra. They claimed due to the popularity of eBikes replacement parts are backlogged. Electra said the part I needed would arrive the first week of November. Well that was 6 weeks ago. This is ridiculous and I can only say I'd you're considering an eBike check out reviews first. Knowing what I do know now, I would not of made the purchase from Sprocket. read more

DONT TAKE TOUR BIKE HERE THEY RIP YOU OFF! Took a bike in after having someone rent it and crash it. Couldn't get the derailleurs or brakes right and had a clicking sound coming from the bottom bracket. I took it in and told them about the noise and brake and they said I'd have it back in a day... so three days pass and I finally get a call it's ready with "what do you want us to do to it there's nothing wrong." And I get there and they charge me $99 and the bike feels ok, I ride it a few weeks later when I return from a trip and the noises are all still there. Took it to another bike shop and they said the bottom bracket was bad and that they had stripped the screws for the front derailleur and the rotor was still warped they just opened the brake clamp too much and that's why my brakes were going all the way to the handle bar to barely stop. Very disappointed and waited a couple months to write this because I was so mad about being ripped off after taking the bike to another different bike shop. read more

Go here! Great shop! Cool staff! Park in back. Had a issue getting a bottom Breaker bearing out. I beat the heck out of it. Nothing. I took it in to see if they could get it out. I dropped lt off about 1pm that had it done at 5pm. When that called, I could tell in his voice he was chuckling a bit. He said you weren't kidding that thing was stuck! It took all 3 of us to get it out. I said thank you!! When I went to get it, I noticed only 3 people working. That's going the extra mile!! I think most shops should have sent me walking. read more

Ok, so you don't have a size 52 road bike that I wanted to try so you want me to leave- I can't look around? That's the impression I got from Omar, trying to scurry me out of the store- what a jerk. I was looking at a bike that caught my eye and asked the price and he said these wheels are not included and these wheels alone cost $6500. Omar said, "because it's special and it's made out of carbon". I trust Omar represents "Sprocket" of how well versed they are in the road bike industry. I own a size 54, although it fits, it's a tad big for me and a 52 would yield me better-fit options. Yes, Omar, a carbon road bike, and I also have "special" wheels that are made out of "carbon". Imagine that you are on vacation, riding your bike down to the beach and as you start to pedal, your chain jumps off...inboard....and wraps itself up in your wheel and spokes. You spend 20 minutes messing with it, you are alone and don't know anyone in town. Next, you look for a bike shop...hopefully in walking distance and you find this one. It's 1.5 miles and you have to keep your back tire lifted the entire time. When you get there, they send you to the back and Mike greets you with, "Wow, nice work!" or something like that... He pops your bike on the stand and before you know it the wheel is off and he's gotten the chain aligned. He checks everything carefully, adjusts the derailleur, adds a little air to the tires and gives some instructions. The diagnosis is that the derailleur hanger is bent and needs to be replaced. There are eleventy billion derailleur hangers, for all the different makes and models of bikes. I have ordered 2, his suggestion, "that way you always have a spare" and they'll be waiting for me when I get home. Thanks, Mike, for taking a pretty crappy moment and making it better!!! read more

This is now my go-to place for all things bicycle. We were shopping for a new bike and after an unsuccessful visit to the shop in Hermosa, we made our way down PCH and stopped in here. Bella greeted us immediately and was very knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. She let us take the bikes for a test ride around the block a few times. The color we wanted was at a different facility, but they had it brought to the store the next day. When we went back to pick it up, we were looking for a helmet and Paul was great help in picking one out as well. Service is great. Workers are very friendly. The reason for the four stars is because it's extremely pricey to get your old bikes tuned up or repaired. For the price you pay to tune it out repair, I can just buy another new bike for a TAD more that's all. read more
