I have driven by here quite a few times, and finally made a stop! I heard many good things from coworkers, so I was excited to try it. First, it's a cute little restaurant, with plenty of seating. You order at the register and then they bring your food out! I got the buffalo chicken sandwich, with fries. The sandwich was really good, just the right amount of buffalo for me. I also LOVE that it is served on buttered Texas toast, instead of a bun. Now, I didn't care for the fries. However, everyone at work raved about them - so you may like them! (Just not my taste) Lastly, this is one of the most affordable places to eat in NB (that I've had so far). I do suggest, if you get fries, only order one order, it was a fair amount! If you go to a restaurant for food and absolutely nothing else, you'll love this place. The food was good. Now, if you're a person who also goes for atmosphere, service, and morale, keep driving past this place. Walked in with my friend the other day after being on the river all day, I was laughed, stared, and pointed at by the cooks and so I asked for a manager. One of the cooks was the manager and before I even explained why I was upset, they had an excuse waiting for me. The whole thing was a joke, it was very obvious that the people there were RACISTSSS and they didn't want to own up to it. Didn't take off my meal, didn't offer a coupon or free side, couldn't even keep eye contact with me while they were apologizing. We sat there and ate and were periodically stared at for our entire time. We're leaving the place and one of the cooks stands on the porch section, and watches until my friend and I leave. They are extremely overpriced for the quality. On top of that they charge extra for butter when there was practically none on my spud. They could be a great establishment if they kept the prices where they are and didn't skimp on the toppings. No one wants a dry and flavorless spud especially for the price they sell them at. After many a time passing by this place we finally stopped in. I got a say I was excited to try one of the two most requested ginormous sized baked potato items. The one I chose was the Brisket Baked Potato. Husband has the cheeseburger. Well cheeseburger was ok. Now my baked potato while enormous just looked blah. It seemed there was a small portion of brisket (on the sweet side) with a little bit that looked like butter or something and cheese. The tea was also lackluster. It's a hole in the wall of a place. But those are usually the best. This place is great. Staff is fast, friendly and seems to work pretty hard. Wife got the brisket spud. I wish I had gotten it. It is awesome; however, she wishes they gave more pickles with it. She asked for some and they gave her like 10 tiny ones. I had the tejas grilled chicken which was pretty good. The chicken was juicy and served on Texas toast. We also had the jalepeno poppers. They were also good. Let them cool for 5 minutes before even attempting to eat them. Son had Mac and cheese and fries and he had to wait 10-15 minutes for it to cool. Way too hot for a kid. Also didn't like the idea of something so hot being served in a styrofoam container.... Staff seemed in top of things and you could seen them quickly clean a table and spray it down when someone left. Lots of locals appeared to eat here with many frequent visitors. Located in a small building without much ambiance this casual restaurant is a must visit. They serve huge baked potatoes with a veritable cornucopia of toppings to choose from. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken Spud which was absolutely delicious!! I typically am not a big fan of potatoes but this ended up being the best potato I've ever eaten. The chicken was well seasoned, moist and tender, and the cream gravy was heaven. We ordered at the counter and our meal was delivered to our table quickly. I highly recommend this place. read more

We ordered Spud Ranch online during Covid-19 and are pleased with the quality of food and delivery service! Very easy to place an order and have it delivered rapidly. I ordered the chicken fried chicken spud and am pleasantly surprised at the ability of the cheese and gravy to coexist on this plane. There is a great ratio of potato to toppings and I never felt like I was eating a bare potato. My friends ordered regular ol spuds and enjoyed them-- can't go wrong with a normal spud. We absolutely loved it although all I got was a plain baked potato because I'm a very plain gal it was amazing. My husband loved his. He got the turkey and bacon spud although it burnt the roof of his mouth when he first ate it he was very happy that his food was hot as in cooked hot. it wasn't hot and it was microwave. You could tell that that potato was freshly cooked fast service. We took the drive-through because we have a bus full of kids while waiting just a few minutes to get our potatoes. We got our drinks first and our kids devoured my husband's tea, and they kindly refilled it before we left once we got our potatoes. my husband also asked me if we could go again today unfortunately we've got a set budget for eating, but we will definitely know where to go once the budget resets haha highly recommend everybody to go try! read more

We decided to try Spud Ranch after 5 years in New Braunfels. We ordered the Texas Bacon Cheeseburger + French Fries and a Brisket Spud. The Texas Bacon Cheese burger was served on Texas toast, and was good but unimpressive. The fries were good, but also unremarkable. The burger was served without the bacon at first, but they made it right very quickly. The Brisket Spud was a little dry. The brisket was good. It had a lot of fat in some of it (I didn't eat that), but the flavor was great! It also had butter, cheese and sautéed onions in it that were good. It was a lot of potato compared to the amount of toppings, but this could be because I took a small amount of the fatty brisket pieces off. The staff was pleasant and professional. We sat outside because any time someone pulled up to the drive through an alarm like bell would go off and it was quite loud. Overall it was good food to eat. Neither of us feel like we need to visit again, which is too bad, because we've seen good reviews. read more

I had the brisket option and the brisket tasted like it had sat under heat lamp all day and it was too sweet. I had to throw out half of it because I couldn't even swallow it. Hey y'all, just here to visit and go to schlitterbahn water park wanted something local and inexpensive and for $7.50/$8 for a loaded Texas sized spud you can't beat it! My girlfriend and her sister got a chicken enchilada spud and they enjoyed it I think my 4 star rating is because I wanted more gravy and chicken because it was only 5/6 small pieces of cut up chicken. I am excited to go back there is a lot on the menu variety wise and it's so filling. Definitely ask for extra gravy if you get this spud and extra chicken hahaha especially if you're me and love chicken fried anything. I'm hoping to try the ranch hands spud when I come back! My mom is a baked potato fanatic! I knew her discerning jacket potato palate would either love or hate this place. She followed me from the interstate because she refuses to learn Google maps. (sigh) Was it worth it to travel all the way down Seguin Ave, to wait at the roundabout, go all the way down the bridge on San Antonio Street, wait for the light at Ducky's, and finally round the corner on Common? I also ordered a regular potato, they used to be $6.50. They are now $9.79 and they are about half the size they used to be. I have Sent a lot of people there but will do that no more. This is such a great place to eat. They have an inside and outside dining area. There is also a drive through. There are so many different amazing spuds to choose from. The brisket spud with Mac and cheese is my favorite. They also have different sandwiches if you want to go that route. The steak sandwich is absolutely my favorite thing to order. The fried okra there pairs perfectly with it. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. I like that you can see into the kitchen from where you place your order. Everyone is working so quickly and you can see that the staff is knowledgeable and all work well together. They also have homemade brownies and bluebell ice cream. The location is so close to schlitterbahn, so we always eat there after a long water day. They sell beer as well which is nice after getting out of the hot sun. Overall, this is the restaurant that I eat at more often than anywhere else. They have also opened a food truck location in Cibolo called spud ranch on wheels.
