I walked in look really nice and the smell was wonderful but I was greeted in a hurry up attitude and it was my first time there. I had heard so much about this place so I was really eager to check this place out. I was disappointed with the attitude of the cashier and the owner standing behind her I thought wow I thought ok hurry up so I got a glaze donut just one and I was afraid to even ask for coffee all I wanted to do is get out of the way and leave. This place was featured on the Travel Channel's Unwrapped and Donut Paradise so went to see what the fuss is about. They're located in a little town called Richland in a really quaint open air antique type mall. They're always packed with a line going out the door, but service is super fast. This second time around got the maple bars which can be described as the closest thing to Leonard's Bakery malasadas in Hawaii. This is a legitimate family owned and ran business. That is getting harder and harder to find. I asked for two donuts of their choosing and a 16 oz iced coffee. To my amazement it only cost 3 dollars. The donuts weren't small at all. They also tasted homemade and were really good. As much as I love SpudNuts, one employee ruined it for us by making negative comments to us about our kids. They made a slight mess then week before (we go every Saturday) and the next day we came in one of the ladies made a rude comment to me about it. This place is extremely overrated and has some of the worst customer service and uninviting staff around. It isn't a welcoming environment, all the old people working have a frown on their face and god forbid you ask them a question about the product. the donuts are alright but I really don't see the hype over them. And if you are one of those people who came at noon and there were no doughnuts left you might want to look at your clock again - it's NOON! And if you can't seem to tell the difference between Safeway and the Spudnut shop you might want to have that checked out. As for the rest of the planet with working taste buds this is how you do the Spudnut so listen up. Go at 7am, no later. Walk in the door past the cash register so don't bother to stop and ask stupid questions, you're in a doughnut shop... they serve doughnuts, do you want your horoscope, an explanation about the meaning of life or a flippin doughnut so sit the hell down. They will come around and ask you if you want coffee to which you say yes. They're not going to bat their eyelids at you and banter about how your day went, this isn't a hairdresser, it's a doughnut shop. If you're a bit thick just keep reminding yourself that their sole purpose is to sell doughnuts, chant it if you have to. You will also want to ask them when cinnamon rolls will be coming out of the fryer and they will tell you and you will order two. Drink your coffee and don't be swayed by any other offers. Read the paper if you must. When the cinnamon rolls come out they will put icing on them which will turn translucent and get soft. The next step is to take a bite and try to keep your eyes from rolling back in your head which will make it hard for you to drive home. When you're done eating your two cinnamon rolls don't buy any to go as it's impossible to duplicate the experience no matter how hard you try. Really, I've tried everything and a doughnut that walks out the door will not be the same. There, you have everything you need so be off with you. Oh, and they're not open on Sundays so if you happen to live in Seattle don't drive down on Saturday, rent a hotel and get up bright and early Sunday for doughnuts. White couple in front of me orders a dozen spudnughts and gets all of them from the "fresh tray". When I get to order mine I can only get two from the "fresh tray" and the rest from the day before tray because " I didn't called in my order" . I went to Spud Nut shop on May 18th, to pick up a Doughnut for my father-in-law (who grew up enjoying their treats and delectables) upon arrival to trying to enter the shop, using their pick up service along with another customer. We were Both VERY rudely told at the same time; that they were sold out thanks to a group order, and that there were no longer anymore doughnuts. Here's the problem with this and "supporting your small businesses" is IF you want support from your community being a small business; teach for one; your employees (especially the Karen working) to treat your customers well or you'll receive not so nice from them. Also if you want your community support; then your crew should make sure to make enough product to last you what your projected amount should be daily, while not turning down potential return (the other customer was a returning customer along with me) this was my second time visiting your business; as I don't get to this area and potentially LAST time I'll ever support them especially this experience!!! read more

Traveled several miles out of our planned route especially to eat a much famed Spudnut. They're open until six if you want an average meal of some kind but don't bother going out of your way, you can get an average meal at MacDonalds and I bet they have a "Big Mac" anytime they are open. read more

After reading some bad reviews on my favorite donut shop I decided sign up and give some tips to newbies. If you've never been there, go pass the line and look at the donuts, decide what you want and then order. the staff is short with the customers ( a downfall of the place I suppose) but it's also it's charm. First State what frosting you want then cake or raised donut. For instance my order usually goes 2 coconut cake, 2 chocolate cake and 2 sprinkle cake. Or just go up there and say one duzzen asorted the Lady packs it and you're on your way. You have to order the coconut donut thay are the bomb. If you're their on Friday or Saturday they have chocolate chocolate that is chocolate frosting chocolate cake donut. If you're wanting to go and it's after 12, forget about it. Once the donuts are gone they usually close shop and I've never seen day old Donuts there. I love the place but it's not known for its food just the donuts and coffee. You have to remember they cater to the Hanford crowd which most of their business is between the hours of 5 and 8 am. They will have boxes stacked to the ceiling full of pre orders. I had a classic glazed Spudnut and half of a fresh cinnamon roll Spudnut. There is a seating area but it is usually packed full; even by 9 am. We just waited our turn, in the line out the door and ordered our Spudnuts and enjoyed them outside in the warm AM sun. I was amazed at all of the "Pre-Orders" that were being carted off by the locals...usually two to three dozen at a time. The only comparison is probably Top Pot doughnuts (Seattle)...but they are not as light or crisp...what is the obsession with Krispie Kreme?...yuck! This is one of those places your either "get" or you don't. I love Spudnuts! They raised chocolate and maple bars are my favs. I personally don't like grocery store doughnuts, waaaaay to much frosting makes them sickening sweet but Spudnuts are more "glazed" with their frosting, it's a perfect balance of fried fluffy goodness topped with just enough sweetness. Always buy more than you think you'll eat because they disappear fast! It's easy to eat three and not feel like a disgusting glutton, lol! Ok, that was the good, now the other side; Over the years I've had one or two not up to their usual standards but it's been literally one or two in thirty years worth of doughnuts! So still pretty good I guess. I HATE it when I get there at 9 am and they are out of just about all of the spudnuts, seriously wth? I can see if it was 1 or 2 in the afternoon but in the am there should still be some damn doughnuts at a doughnut shop. The customer service is iffy, it seems that if you're not a regular (and by regular I mean every single morning sit down coffee and doughnut customer) then you're lucky to get the counter people to crack a smile.
