One of our absolute favorites in Gainesville. I highly recommend sitting at the bar outside. There's often live music or entertainment going on in Celebration Pointe that you can enjoy alongside your delicious meal. Paul is the best bartender and makes a great cocktail. For starters, I recommend the buffalo chicken dip and rolls with marinara. The Spurrier house salad is another favorite and features cheese from a local business, Hawthorne Creek Creamery (also highly recommend)! For dinner, you can't go wrong with the shrimp and grits, sweet corn ravioli, or the amazing fillet with the truffle mushroom sauce. Our favorite sides are the 5 Cheese Blend Mac, Maple Bourbon Glazed Baby Tri-Color Carrots Topped with Pistachios, and the absolute best - Miso Brussel Sprouts. If you're looking for cocktails, the Jerri's Seasonal Sangria, Pig Skin Old Fashioned, HBC Margarita, and Lychee martini are amazing! I don't know why this place is the talk of the town. The food is extremely overpriced, portioned for a child and average at best. I kept my opinion to myself during the meal to not kill the vibe, but afterwards my whole party enjoyed joking about how mediocre it was. I was so glad to have the very average burger to wash away the taste of the risotto. They also charge you $25 if you miss your reservation but they don't pay you $25 when your table isn't available at the reservation time. read more

Fantastic customer service! We had a bit of a wait after arriving for our reservation. The hostess was so apologetic and said they'd make it up to us. After we were seated Rachel, our server, came over to offer us a free appetizer. Then David the manager came to check on us and again apologized for the wait. The food was AMAZING we had the Buffalo dip for our appetizer and shrimp and grits as our entree. We had no room for dessert! We love visiting Spurriers every time we are in Gainesville. This was my first time to spurriers and it did not disappoint. I had a reservation and we were seated right away. I had delayed going here because of their high prices. Their prices are definitely high, but at least they match them with high quality food and service. We started with the grilled peach and burrata which was delicious. I got the short rib and mushroom risotto and it was one of the best dishes I have had in Gainesville. It was high class food and flavors for sure. The wait staff were very good. They were friendly, personable and always around to help. The restaurant was clean and nicely spaced out. I would love to check out the rooftop at some time as well. Overall, this restaurant is great and has high class food. Sadly, my bank account will definitely be limiting how many times I get to experience it. How did Gainesville get along for so long without Steve Spurrier and his Gridiron Grille?! This is a space that G'ville has desperately needed! This space, this venue is wonderful and we have needed a place like this a very long time, and someone did a great job designing it. It feels open and airy, yet there are private areas for events, occasions, and meetings, some with their own bar. Finally, we have a spot that is all UF, all Fighting Gators, all Gator Nation that is not actually part of the University. We have all kinds of banquet and meeting rooms in the stadium, and at Alumni Hall, and in the poorly named Student Union, but in order to do things in those places you must deal with the, lets just call it sticky tape, of UF. And yes, the Hilton off 20th has some spaces, and there are a few bars that are set up for gator themed events, but none with the purity and authenticity of Spurrier's Gridiron Grille. The Hilton tries to be too inclusive of out of town sports ball travelers, and one bar actually has a Gator Hater joke on the menu (Gator Bites - the only teams that eat their own) and that same bar celebrates the Bulldogs, the Game Cocks, and the team from just West of Georgia. We finally have a venue that is clean, pure and authentic. And it is wonderful. The service has been excellent too, but that could be because we were getting a little special treatment; I mean we are Rock Stars after all. Still, when you go there, watch for the team work on the floor; when any waitperson sees something needed or out of order anywhere in the restaurant, they take care of it. Which is really cool. The food... I would like to see the menu evolve a little bit, and execution needs to be more consistent. Even if you look at the same item food pics here on Yelp, you will see an inconsistency in cooking techniques and presentation that shouldn't be there. Oh, but if you over eat and drink, and you have no room for desert, and they offer you delicious chewy house made chocolate chip cookies to go out the door with, DON'T TURN THEM DOWN! They are yummy! So, we owe Spurrier one more cheer! Cheers for being a Gator great! Cheers for winning us a Heisman Memorial Trophy, and thank you for guiding Danny to one as well! Cheers for being our Coach! Overall, the food was pretty great and we enjoyed 90% of what we ordered. The highlights were the calamari, shishito peppers, the veggie burger, and the short rib and risotto dish. All of those dishes were unique and delicious. The short rib maybe could use more acid (as per my taste) but was succulent and rich. The Demi glacé was a home run. Other items ordered were the blackened redfish, that while tasty was a lot smaller than the photos of other's meals. The most disappointing dish was the Brussel sprout and pear salad. I was looking forward to it, but it looked like the mix came out of a bag and just wasn't that great. Skip that one, but you are good if you order any of the ones I mentioned, and the spinach and artichoke dip. read more

Tonight we all had the filets along with Brussels sprouts, French Fries, and Broccolini to share. We started with the calamari appetizer, a Caesar and a House salad, and some delicious libations. I have ate at Spurriers over 15 times, and I have never been disappointed with the food or service...or drinks! It has become a staple for my family. Just today we tried their new buffet brunch...and WOW! It's 6:30 PM as I write this and no one in my family is hungry for dinner yet. Not only is the food delicious and hot, but the variation is impressive. They have breakfast staples and some of the spurrier classics such as the short rib and shrimp and grits. If you just get a tiny bit of everything they offer...it's too much food. I recommend you make a custom omelet at their station and make sure get it with Fontina cheese, you won't regret it!
