Made reservations for 6:30 they finally seated us at 6:45. Not real friendly at the front, never greeted you or gave updates as to why we weren't seated at our reservation time. The decor is beautiful and you definitely pay for it with the price of the food. The food was wonderful and great choices. The room was very loud and you had to shout at your friends to be heard. If it's a sports bar the prices are way over inflated. If it's a 5 star restaurant the atmosphere was too noisy. Also you pay a Puff fee which supposed to help the developers, not sure why we were giving money to the developers since I'm sure the rent was outrageous. read more

I arrived o eat, from out of town. Dining alone, never been here before. I asked to eat dinner for one, hostess asked if I could eat within 30 Minutes because others had reservations. Instead of her suggesting maybe because I'm alone and they are busy to eat at the bar. I went and ate at the bar. The bartender is amazing and quite the ultimate talker. Food was outstanding. Steve Spurrier happened to be here SBA face a speech. I think he should go back to football managing because the food was very good but the hostess was as rude as the come. Very ignorant hostess. Much better than the first time we went which was opening week. Ribeye was better, mac and cheese was much better, added Buffalo dip to the menu since then which was very good. Service was much faster. I don't eat seafood so I personally would like to see more non-seafood entrees and appetizers, which is why I had the Buffalo dip and the bacon cheeseburger, which was excellent. To begin the evening we waited nearly 10 minutes at the bar to even be welcomed let alone e order. However our dinner server jimmy was great. I did not like that as soon as you sit down at a nicely set table they take away everything on the table. It goes from beautiful and welcoming to bla and plain. Makes you feel like they think you might take something. Weird. The food was good but the shrimp n grits was not blackened shrimp. You do pay for the name on the door. read more

Scrumptious food!!!! I've never seen so many vegetarian/vegan options in a restaurant. I've been to many Gainesville restaurants with some veg options that are okay. But THIS is heaven! I had "Vegetarian Ravioli" and "Eggplant Fritters".. can taste the fresh ingredients and herbs all favors merry well together... Best restaurant in Gainesville! Where do I start? Let me first say I am extremely picky when it comes to eating out. I am by no mean a food critic, but I have visited many restaurants at different places, and Spurrier impressed greatly. They have it right from the very beginning to the very end. Wait staff is very friendly and have that vibe that you know they are happy you are here because it is obvious they love this place too. I highly recommend it whether you are a Gator fan or not. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent. I had the Johnson City chees and tomato. Ok but very bready. I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Very disappointing. Dry, not enough caramel and very stingy with creme anglais. My wife had something with mozzarella cheese and basil.. She liked it but felt it needed more basil. The only real critiques I have, which are very minor, are there was no option for just sautéed mushrooms to go with my steak. The only steak toppings that were available were all some sort of sauce. Personally, I'm not a fan of sauce with my steak. I do, however, enjoy good sautéed mushrooms. Other than that, it was a bit loud at times, but not unreasonable. This score may be subject to change, as I'm interested in a return visit, but I have to say I thought the experience was just ok considering the price. We were seated quickly as we had a reservation, and service was paced well. The cocktails we had were absolutely excellent, a Blackberry margarita, and their twist on a smoked old fashioned. But the lighting and acoustics just aren't there, at least not in the main dining room. It almost feels like I'm in a Santa Fe classroom the way the dining room is lit, bright and sterile, and the place is so loud I had to almost yell to my fiancé just to be heard. The food is genuinely good, especially the crab cakes and desserts. I would skip the steak, as it's pricey for what you get, and get the delicious looking burger. I'm hoping a return trip to a different area of the restaurant results in me raising this score to 5 stars, because there is a lot of potential here. read more
