    Gyros Dinner

Super friendly staff and delicious food! This is the best gyros meat I've had and will be craving it! I will definitely be back again. Can't recommend this place enough!

Squabs was a great choice. The choices were so hard to make because everything looked so good and fresh . I went with the chicken breast over rice with the salad. Delicious. My boss had the gyro plate which looked really good as well. They were friendly and quick. The dining room is quiet for a good place to enjoy the meI'd definitely recommend trying them out.

I was craving their potatoes so we stopped in and due to a miscommunication (I tried to order a big enough plate to share with David but he never told me that he hates the chicken here-- he's crazy, it's great) I quickly found myself staring at a grumpy husband. I had ordered the half chicken with just potatoes in the hopes of getting double potatoes and no other accompaniment... but I wound up with chicken that David was convinced was undercooked and a couple of potatoes that he wolfed down. I asked him to go up to the counter and ask if we could pay an up charge and get the bread and salad that would've come with the platter. He went up and George gave it to him without charge or interrogation. "What do you need?" "Tell my daughter what you need." Since David finally came clean that he likes the gyros and the broasted chicken but not the baked chicken, we won't have the miscommunication next time-- and there will be a next time because places like this deserve my business. The chicken was moist with crispy skin and (despite the fact that I ate it as quickly as a dog trying to hide a transgression) really tasty. As always. The dining area is large for a counter service place and the air quality is good. They've even got a slot lounge (completely separate from the dining floor. You'll spend a little bit more (1/2 chicken platter was 17 and change) but don't tell me that you love the USA and then tell me that you aren't willing to support local businesses. I finally got my potatoes, yummmmy.

On the SW corner of Mannheim and Fullerton, this was quite the busy place. A nice, Greek joint vibe with great gyros. Plenty of tables but, they seem to have a big carry-out clientele as well. We had practically perfect timing arriving at 11:10am. My co-worker got the Gyros Sandwich with fries and I ordered the big Gyros Plate (see photo) for $19.84. But, when the cook brought out two, full pans of beautifully, broasted chicken halves (it musta been several dozen!), it made us wish we'd ordered the Greek Chicken. Our other friend with us had the Combo Plate: Two Chicken Kabobs, Gyros with tsaziki, olives and feta on the side. The food came out pretty darn quick, though. At about twenty bucks a plate, there was a lot of food. Soon again, we'll be back to get some of that great, Greek Chicken, for sure.

The food in this place is great. They have a sign outside that says "the best roasted chicken in chicago. Their chicken tastes good. I believe they have some special recipe coz its really good. Been here many times. This time i have tried the gyro dinner and shrimp dinner. It was really good. Would definitly comeback. During meal times, this place will be packed of diners.

I went back to the restaurant after this was said to me by Pete, the manager: "If you decide to dine with us in the future, we'll be sure to make it up to you like we know we can." OK. Here is your chance, Pete. I walk in and ask for Pete. Pete approaches, I introduced myself and shared with him the past review of what had happened. So now, after reading, he asks, "What can make up for this?" I reply,"2 chicken breasts sandwiches. " His response was, "No." Then, he walked away rudely. What was the point of saying, "If you decide to dine with us in the future, we'll be sure to make it up to you like we know we can."??? Then, he lied AGAIN saying the following: "We'd never want you to leave our place disappointed with your food, Jay." Well, I am, 'cause I never received any during my second visit!!! That is just Pete being a phony, twice!!! What a joke, him, and his place is!! (Need to clean the effin' toilets, too!! Just lazy as hell!!!) What was the point of asking "What can make up for this" when you have absolutely no extent to make up for uncooked, dangerous meat??? I think it is ignorant, especially when he abruptly walked away. You have the nerve to fix your mouth and say "...and that's the way Dad wanted it...". Ha!!! He's probably rolling over in his grave!!! Don't eat here and get treated wrong and sick. Go to Yorky's. The food is way better, and they will treat you like a human being.

This is a casual restaurant frequented by many locals. One would order from the counter and then find a table to seat. Looking just at the prepared foods around the counter one could tell that it is a very busy restaurant; not only for dining room patrons but also the amount of takeout orders. So, it was not a surprise that after we ordered and sat down, it took a long time for our foods to come out. In fact, we thought that they forgot our order and had to ask at the counter. In addition, we had to clean the table before we could sit down. As for the food, we ordered a kebab plate and a gyros plate. The aroma of the meats from the kitchen really filled the restaurant. Both our plates were above our expectations. I don't think anyone visiting this restaurant will go home hungry. They piled up the meats like they have endless supply. Not only the amount, they were also flavorful and delicious. If we are catching a flight out of O'Hare and have the extra time, will probably consider this place again.

I'm glad I called because they had holiday hours today and glad they mentioned they are stopping taking orders at a certain time and I was able to place an order to go. It's in a private parking lot in a strip mall type set up. Their location is in the corner end of the lot closest to the main road. As you walk in, you can smell the barbecue and looking around. It's a nice spacious place. They also have a bar along with a full arcade game room. When I came in to pick up my order, they were pretty quick. The staff was friendly in the place was clean. As I got home, I unloaded the food, it was cute. They wished me a happy Fourth of July of my to go bag. This is what we ordered: -Full slab barbecue pork ribs, it was nice and smoky. They served the type of ribs that you have to work on chewing it tear off the bone a bit. It's not fall off the bone, soft meat which I prefer myself. I requested the Chicago Sweet barbecue sauce which I like the flavor, but keep in mind. It does have a black pepper taste to it if you're sensitive to spicy. -half a pound of brisket we requested the fattier side of our order. It was very good soft and juicy. I would definitely get this again. -side of Mac and cheese, this was pretty good. I get it again. The noodles were soft and cheesy. Keep in mind. There's also a little heat spiciness if you like it like that. -mini corn dogs and fries kids menu, the corn dog was OK however I felt it was a bit overcooked a little too crunchy and the hotdog ended up being a bit dry and the fries had some good flavor, but for some reason, it was overcooked as well, someone in the reviews made a comment it could be twice fried fries that made it looked dark which I'd rather have it golden color not dark overcooked fresh cut fries. I give the place 4/5 stars service and how clean the place is inside. I would give my food order, 3/5 stars overall 3.5 stars.. Overall, it was OK barbecue not sure if it's because I ordered at the end of their day or not of certain dishes over a bit dry, fried/cooked... I'll have to come back here when they first open and dine in and update my review as I like bbq and support local businesses.

One was lean brisket, burnt ends and pulled pork with the brisket beans and onion rings. The other was lean brisket, pulled pork and rib tips with Mac and cheese and bacon potato salad. We were both disappointed with the brisket, it was very thinly sliced and had a heavy smoke flavor. We did like the burnt ends, rib tips and the pulled pork. We did not care for any of the sides. They weren't anything special. The kicker was our order of sweet potato fries, that cost $3.95. What we received was ridiculous. When I picked up our order, was just asked the name and that was it. No greeting or thank you. It was early when I picked up the order so it wasn't that crowded. So I don't know how the ambiance would be.

Probably not. But it's pretty darn close. Service is solid. Atmosphere is okay (pretty much what you'd expect from a spot like this). Average "BBQ joint" vibes. Five BBQ sauce options are provided at every table, allowing for an "unlimited sauce experience." My two favorites were the Chicago and the Alabama. PRO TIP: Put a little bit of both onto your meal item for the ultimate flavor combination. Got their "Slider Combo" with one slider made with pulled pork, another made with smoked chicken, and the third made with beef brisket. The sliders with pulled pork and beef brisket were BANGING. Unfortunately, the smoked chicken had an off-putting texture. Their BRIOCHE BREAD is fantastic. Soft and tasty. Add a little bit of the pickled onions in your sliders (with one or two of their BBQ sauces) and you'll be set. For our side, we selected the Mac and Cheese, which was pretty good (but not great). Their LOADED MAC was an absolute show-stopper. Topped with 18-hour smoked beef brisket, pickled onions, and jalapeños, it's hard NOT to love it. This is a must-have item on your table. Top it with the Chicago Sauce for an even tastier (and saucier) experience. Skip their Honey Cheddar Cornbread (which was average, at best) and get their Smoked Beans with Pork & Brisket instead (as a side) -- they're juicy with a hint of (subtle) sweetness. My FAVORITE part of the meal was the FREE dessert (yes, you read that right) offered with every meal -- COBBLER. Their flavors change monthly. This month, it was a peach-flavored cobbler, which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Genuinely the tastiest part of the meal. Served fresh, their warm, soft, tasty cobbler was easily the best dessert I consumed all week. Blackwood BBQ should be on everybody's radar as the "go-to neighborhood BBQ spot."

I had the Elotes Smashburger and was impressed with the quality of the meat and there was a good amount of all the toppings. The quality of the meat was great along and everything was fresh. The service was pretty quick. I added fries and was pleasantly surprised with the amount I got and the fries were really well seasoned. Only thing that was slightly surprising was when you "make it a combo" to add fries, you still don't get a drink. The prices were a bit steep, but I read online that when you eat at their locations they donate a meal to school kids. We read online that you get complimentary cobbler but it wasn't advertised anywhere, so when we were done eating we asked about it. No fuss about offering it up once we asked. The cobbler of the month was s'mores and it was so good! Once again had great quality and decent sized portion. There are multiple locations and I will definitely be open to going to other locations and trying other menu items again based on this experience.
