Omg! Just go! The employees were so nice, they let us in early before they opened, so we wouldn't freeze outside. We both had bottomless mimosas/bloody Mary's, that were perfectly executed! It was so hard to decided what pizza I wanted to try, but our amazing waitress Nicole, talked me into the Detroit style Bianco and oh my flippin gosh, WOW. The multiple cheeses, the dough and the sweet from the maple syrup, was straight perfection. The meat balls were also very good, I was surprised by the spice, but they were still enjoyable! First time at square peg pizzeria yesterday ! I first of all I want to say I absolutely loved the restaurant because they had an arcade ! I mean how often do you see that it's perfect place for a family dinner . There was live music and the singer was fantastic. They also have outdoor seating with a fireplace , which is going to be perfect now that the weather is nice. The happy hour menu is from 2-6 M-F and it is amazing . $6 margaritas and $6 small cheese pizza . I got the passion fruit margaritas ($1 extra for flavour) and it was delicious highly recommend . And the pizza was good ( not terrible for $6 the dough was a little on the chewy side whereas I prefer my crust a little more crispy ) , it had a little char for flavour as well ( not burnt ... IFYKYK) . The only issues was since we went on a Tuesday I think they were low staff today but some people were waiting a while for the waiter to come around ( thankfully we had put in our orders immediately so we didn't have this issue ) . Food is good but takeout service is abysmal. Halloween day, we placed an online order early in the day to be ready at 4:45 for a party (because we knew it would be busy). I get there at 4:50 and am told it will be another 20-25 minutes (not cool... that's the entire point of placing the order early... so the restaurant can plan for it). I live close by so go home. Come back at 5:30 and am told it will STILL be another 20-25 minutes. Hordes of people waiting for orders and many are just canceling them at this point. No manager on site. I finally received my food at about 5:50pm. No apology, no offer of compensation, nothing. Was I leaning on the staff the whole time and did they think I was an a-hole? Probably. I really liked our Saturday night visit to this pizza place. We had an appetizer of the cheese garlic bread with a nice red sauce to dip in. I had a winter special drink with blue curaçao (my first one was great, the second I ordered was just mehh) our waitress was just attentive enough and she was super busy so kudos. I recently visited the Glastonbury location with family. The kids love pizza and we have never brunched there before so it was perfect time to try it out. We ordered a few different pies ranging from Brunch and lunch . We did attempt to order 2 different items from the brunch menu and kids menu and they didn't have any and were out of the items already. The family loved the pizza pies. ! My gluten free pizza wasn't too bad. Wasn't crazy about the crust that was used. They had forgotten the egg on the top so I had to ask for it . Besides that , we had a great time ! A borderline 5 stars for fun, but the 4 stars is for the pizza which is so good! I wish I lived in Glastonbury! The atmosphere is really great. From the warming outdoor firepit that everyone sees as they pass on Hebron Ave, to the video games in the back, to the Italian mopeds on display, it's a treat to go here. The pizza ingredients are chosen with care. My only complaint is that I wish they would put more ingredients actually ON the pizzas. They're a little spartan. We were traveling through the area, so my spouse and I decided to grab lunch here on the Monday afternoon before Christmas. The place was not busy, but the service was slow, and our waitress was also tending bar, but it wasn't busy there either. She seemed disinterested in being there, which set the whole mood. I tried to order a drink from their specials menu, but they were out of ginger beer. She offered no alternative suggestions, so I just drank cranberry juice. The gluten free crust is not the best in my opinion, while some may like it I think that offering a cauliflower crust as an option would also be popular. Cauliflower if another type of pizza crust that is very common, and has really good taste. I had a nice time solo brunching out on the patio here last Sunday. I went with a drink of the brunch punch, and it pairs quite well with the fried dough bites dunked in some delicious Nutella. I also got the eggcellent pizza and it was very tasty, but I'd def love to put some ketchup or sriracha on top. What can I say, I love putting those on my eggs and the pizza was no eggception. Yeah. I was with some friends on Saturday, when they said they'd like to get brick oven pizza, tell me no more, I immediately knew the best spot! Square Peg Pizza in Glastonbury! So we all packed our selves in the car and drove there. I didn't need to look at the menu, I was getting the Figgy Piggy Pizza. We also got the Carnivore. As if that wasn't enough, we also got their cheesy garlic bread, and the pear kale salad. I've had the Figgy Piggy at several Yelp events last year, it was time I had it again. It is easily my favorite pizza discovery of last year. The Figgy Piggy arrived with perfectly charred edges, an even layer of arugula, prosciutto, fontina cheese, and fig jam! Yum! Oh how I missed this, unexpected, but delicious combo of ingredients. The sweet from the fig, and the salty from the prosciutto on the thin crust, so you can truly taste every flavor. The Carnivore, is a step above from the typical pepperoni, it has sausage, and bacon too. This one is also really good, with a bit of a kick from the sausage. The kale salad was very fresh. It came topped with pear, cranberries and goat cheese. And for our starter we had the very, very cheesy garlic bread. It was super cheesy and melty. Of course this was all gone in seconds. I had a glass of the Mango Cider, this was very good and crisp tasting. Square Peg make excellent pizzas. Their ingredients are fresh, and the crust is thin, while the edges are charred just enough. We ordered pizza takeout from here Saturday night about 7:50. Had another couple over for dinner. Were told it would be in 15 minutes . Arrived 20 minutes later asked for our pizzas and was told they would be a couple of minutes. As it is an open pizza kitchen I could see and hear the two pizza makers talking and quickly realized our pizzas hadn't even been made yet. Given there weren't even ten people in the restaurant and no one else coming in to pick up take out a bit of putting so I waited . The pizza was finally ready at 8:31 forty minutes . Grabbed the two pies and returned home upon opening the first large spicy margarita Bo's I was absolutely shocked at what a crappy pizza I was looking at. Actually embarrassed that someone would put that in a box and serve it to a guest. I've been eating pizza for sixty years and this is the worst execution I've ever had. There was zero spicy pork sausage on it a couple of pieces of cherry pepper and some spots of cheese. Much of the pizza was just sauce as the picture shows. The second pizza was a small mashed potato which was properly prepared and tasty. To be fair I did call and spoke to Wagner the manager who did apologize and offered to replace it by now it was after nine and I didn't feel like driving all the way back. He ended up doing the right thing and credited our bill fully. Maybe just a bad night but there is no excuse for what we were served. The one who boxed that pie should be retrained or fired. The Oh Honey was bursting with flavor between the saltiness of the prosciutto & sweetness of the honey, topped with a complex blend of cheeses (Parmesan, Fontina, & Gorgonzola) and of course the added sweetness from the figs, you are in for an epic flavor profile. The Hebron Ave was a spin on a traditional sausage pizza - this one was savory with a bite (thanks to the hot sweet peppers)! On my second visit I went a little out of my comfort zone and went with a brunch pizza - there were several options but I went with the Eggcellent- scrambled eggs, bacon, fontina cheese, and a Parmesan cream base, made for a delectable brunch meal. What makes this pizza special is the delicious dough and then then wood fired to perfection results in a wonderful, thin soft crust. On the second visit in addition to the Eggcellent pizza, my fiancé ordered the chicken and waffles - IMO these packed a bit of a punch on the spiciness level between the pepper on the chicken and was hot honey. We tried the mozzarella sticks (amazing), Cesar Salad, meatballs, garlic bread along with a Pepperoni, Meatball and regular pizza (pls note we travel large!) food was great, service very attentive despite being busy! Well now you have!! When we learned that Chef Tyler Anderson was opening a pizza restaurant in Glastonbury, I immediately bookmarked it. And yesterday, we had one of their pizzas successfully navigate passage through their Drive Up Window into our car. I had my doubts that the big pizza box could squeeze through the Drive Up window but the young lady at the window had mastered the art of tilting the box at a 45 degree angle to ensure safe passage through the opening. We ordered their large pork meatball and mushroom pizza with the epic name "The Prince of Paramus". It was 8 slices for $26 (an 18" pie). The meatballs, mushrooms, and cheese were plentiful and tasted great. But I thought the pizza could have used some more sauce, because I barely tasted the tomato sauce and I like my pizzas with sauce I can taste. Square Peg is a rapidly-growing chain, mainly located in central CT. This review is really for the Newington location, which for some reason isn't on Yelp yet. Regardless, the menu is pretty much the same. The pies are top notch, and aimed at the foodie crowd. Excellent dough, quality toppings, and cooked just right. It's got plenty of char - sort of a Neapolitan/New Haven style hybrid. So why not 5 stars? The main issue is variety - several of the pies are similar to one another, and there aren't many vegetarian options. Also the sauce isn't quite on the same level as everything else. Overall they are fairly similar to Camille's, but missing some of the ambiance, customer focus, and the other little things that add up to make a 5 star establishment. read more
