Last night my son bought home a veal Parm. dinner from Olympia Pizza in South Glastonbury. This has to be one of the best veal parmesan dinners I have ever had. Very generous portions fresh salad pasta and bread real veal. Well worth the money it was absolutely amazing. Praise to the cook really enjoyed the dinner. This was our go to pizza place before we moved out of state almost 10 years ago. We went back last night and weren't disappointed. The pizza was excellent....just enough sauce and the cheese was very tasty. Salad was fresh and homemade dressing tasty. The server was very friendly and attentive. I grew up on Olympic Pizza. For as long as I can remember, my grandparents always ordered from here. The same pizza, every time. Half pepperoni, half peppers. When my grandma passed, grandpa kept up with tradition continuing to order their pizza. For years, we ordered pick up, and were never disappointed. I make the drive from Glastonbury to Middletown often. When we take the slow route, we pass by Olympic. Last night my son said that he wanted pizza for dinner, so we decided to stop in. There's plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant. Patrons that are picking up orders use a separate side entrance. When you walk in, you're greeted by a sign, stating that a hostess will seat you. We were greeted promptly by a friendly hostess, who seated us at a booth. Our drinks and some crayons were brought over a few moments later. We placed an order for a salad, meatballs and a small pepperoni pizza. The salad came out relatively quickly. It was your basic tossed salad, too much Iceberg lettuce, not enough veggies and way too many onions. I had ordered the meatballs off of the appetizer section, hoping to get them between the salad and the pizza. Unfortunately, they arrived with the pizza. Both of which were too hot for my son or me to eat right away. We received our meatballs served in a shallow dish. They had already been broken up, placed in a little sauce and smothered in cheese. Having been placed in the oven, to melt the cheese, the uncovered meat was rather dry. While the flavor was decent, the method of which it was served, ruined my experience. A meatball served whole, would've kept the moisture. Had there been a little more sauce in the dish, it would've offset the dryness. The pizza was extremely hot when it was brought to the table. We gave it some time to cool, and for the cheese to firm up. Our only complaint about the pizza, was the amount of cheese. It was almost as if they had put double (plus a little more) the cheese. Other than that, the pepperoni ratio was on point. The crust (my favorite part), was a good as always. This is a Greek pizzeria, so no thin crust here! Our server, while friendly, pulled a disappearing act toward the end of our meal. No refills on our drinks, hadn't been back to check on us (at least 15 min.). My son decided then, that he had to use the bathroom. Being that we were the only two at our table, I didn't want to get up without telling someone. Ten minutes passed, before I could get anyone's attention. I told the server that had been waiting on an adjacent table. I had asked that she have our leftovers packed up and a check brought to the table. After 15 minutes (anyone with a toddler will understand) we went back to our table, only to find everything as we had left it. We waited another five minutes for our waitress to come to our table, another five for her to box our food and bring our check. Don't think I'll be dining in again. If a drive down memory lane is what I'm looking for, maybe pick up is the way to go. read more

My son loves their pizza, and I love ordering a toasted salad and I ask them to put their breaded Buffalo chicken on top- it's the best. My family has ordered pizza from them for years. We went to dine in recently and I regretted that I didn't just order a small clam pizza without the bacon. I ordered scrod, which comes with french fries or pasta. Both are random and odd additions to fish. I ordered pasta, as an addition, which ended up being the only food that I liked, after adding parmesan cheese. The scrod was very bland so I added pepper and lemon juice but it couldn't be saved. read more

We called in an order for a medium mozzarella for the three boys and a large special for mom and dad. The boys couldn't finish the slices they grabbed and asked for PB&J's instead. The mozzarella pizza was extremely salty, poorly cheesed near the crust area, and there is so much sauce on the pie that the cheese would not remain on home plate when a slice was pulled away from its neighbor. Mom and Dad opened their special pizza. Pools of water dotted the landscape of our pie, which required much paper towel dabbing to rectify. The dough was extremely gooey from the middle of each slice to the center of the pie. Thank goodness the box was cardboard and helped soak up the excessive water within. We, too, suffered from the saucy cheese-slide action as the boys did and we resorted right away to the use of fighting utensils to attack this glob of - what we hoped would be - flavor explosive goodness. Sadly, the pizza won and we sulked away in defeat, scraping our plates and the remainder of the pies into the garbage. We've lived a block away from Olympic for many years now. I was staying with friends in South Glastonbury this week and we opted to grab a pizza from Olympic one evening. It's located at the far right end of a strip mall in the heart of S. Glastonbury, next door to the post office. Dine in and take out are both options (you'll see the separate entrances for each). We opted for take out, called our order in, and it was ready in 20-25 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful and we were on our way in no time. I thought prices were reasonable ($13 for a large cheese). The pizza was good quality, although I wasn't super crazy about the crust. Cheese and sauce were good though! The inside of the restaurant was a cozy family feel. Nothing fancy but well appointed and comfortable. Looked to be popular among larger groups (families, sports team) as well as couples. Parking is easy with a large lot. Best (and only!) pizza I know of in south Glastonbury!! read more

I've only eaten here one time, but have 2 poor experiences to share. My husband and I ordered a large pizza for pick up one night on our way home. We arrived on time, waited a few minutes for the pizza to finish cooking, and just as we were paying, the young girl behind the register dropped our pizza and had the chef make a us a new one immediately. No problem here, accidents happen, we both understand that, the girl was very apologetic, but we now had to wait another 20 minutes for a fresh pizza and we're offered no compensation for the error. We still payed the normal price for 1 large pizza after waiting twice as long due to this error. Pizza was pretty good, so we assumed we'd give it another try sometime in the future..... Fast forward about 2 months when we found ourselves in the area again looking for a place to stop quick for dinner. It was almost 9:00 PM so I knew our options were limited. Olympic came to mind, I checked the website, confirmed they were open until 10:00 PM and pulled into the parking lot. Checked the hours on the door again as we walked in , and sat down at a booth between a few other families who were also dining in. It was 9:03. The waitress who was not the friendliest woman I've ever spoken to stated "We don't have dining room service after 9:00, Only takeout." Without saying a word I stood up and walked out with my husband feeling embarrassed that we were basically just kicked out in front of at least 4 other families having dinner..... Had we arrived 4 minutes earlier at 8:59, would they have served us? Who knows. But what I do know is that I will never be recommending this place or going there with my family again. read more

I'm a long-time South Glastonburian so have much history with Olympic Pizza starting with back in the day of Nic & Chris. From birthday and soccer team parties to high school dates to take out pizzas to delivery at work across the street... I've never been disappointed. It's honestly not my description of the best pizza ever... the crust a bit thick for my liking. But it is always hot and made fresh and they have lots of original topping choices. Over the years my family members have loved their white pizza, though again, it's not for me. It's a comfortable environment, cozy and family-oriented with big booths. It hasn't really changed decor in 20 years so there's some nostalgia there for me.It's the one pizza place in town that I'd rather go and sit at rather than take home. read more

The manager eyes me all the time like she has something against me, tells me if I'm picking up I have to use the back entrance and the only reason I'm picking up it because she won't let me bring my water bottle in, she goes no drinks... like as if I asked her for a little free glass of water. Then if I come to use the bathroom when I get lunch there everyday she gives me a dirty look and sometimes tells me no I can't use the bathroom unless I buy something when I just bought lunch there 2hrs before and tells me I can't sit there cuz that section of the restaurant is closed, like who cares where I sit and they don't ask me if I'm dining in or not just put my food in a Togo box like we don't want you in here and if I do eat in they take my silverware away I just really don't like that place buts it's the only place that I can get food cuz it's the only thing close to me and I have only 30min read more

I ordered a gluten free pizza from this restaurant for pick up. It was served to me with toppings covered with gluten. When I called to speak to the manager, he was rude to me and told me that it was my fault for not checking to make sure that the toppings were also gluten free. He said that there is no communication between the counter and the people making the pizzas. I asked him what his plan was to prevent this problem in the future repeatedly and he said it was up to the customer. Every restaurant I go to is careful to ensure that they take responsibility and ensure their customers are safe and I am stunned by the attitude of the manager. No apology- blame the customer-no plan for corrective action offered-huh? I highly recommend you eat elsewhere. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite a few times. Prices seem to be low, and the portions are large. 8 inch grinders are the classic type and very reasonable. Ordered salads which are also low price but fresh cold lettuce and veggies were excellent. Seafood salad on a large bed of lettuce was tasty and enough for a meal for under $7. We are local to the area, and do take out 1-2 times a month here The kitchen is spotless-so you never have to worry. The dinner portions are really double the portion size-huge! It's good food at an inexpensive price & they are always friendly. No fancy Dishes - which is quite fine with us! Calzones are the best. read more

Olympic is a family run restaurant with GREAT wings, GREAT grinders and delicious salads. My husband and I do a lot of take out. The veal parmigiana and lasagne are two of our favourites. Prices are reasonable. Restaurant is very clean and service is fast! Perfect for me. read more

Every Friday eve we have a pizza nite - we normally get one plain pizza and a greek salad. Pizza is good but the salads are lacking - the feta is tasteless - the olives almost have a chemical taste (strange) and the lettuce used usually has the tasteless hearts to them. Would like to see better ingredients used fresh, tasty and better quality please and we will still love this place. read more
