Has to be open 24 hours of operation, considering the location it is in, is like going on a camping trip and coming across Ray's Rib Shack just made that up) in the middle of the Ozarks. OK, not that far fetched, but I am a NYC guy and have traveled enough to know, its just not common place to have a 24 hour, full menu, dining establishment available. Its crazy. The food is simple and very good, the owner is Greek, so there is a variety of such delectable's. Mix in some country fair of pulled pork, mac and cheese, fried chicken these are dinner menu options. I was really excited to try out this place because of the reviews but was disappointing. I had a Greek omelet with the fried potatoes. We went around 10 in the morning but for some reason the potatoes were not fresh at all, tasted a day old. The omelet was odd, it had veggies and feta but no flavor. The food was great and very reasonable. My father in law and I walked out for less than $20.00 including tip and a drink. Service was fast and the food was fast as well. The home fries were okay but in all fairness I have never been to a restaurant and liked the home fries because nobody pulls them off like I get them at home. Funny name, cutesy decor, but the food is really not good at all. The chicken tenders were... okay, but the green beans were borderline inedible (my girlfriend described them as "insultingly bad"). All 3 of us in our party thought that the food was not good and was overpriced. Also... the waitresses are rude and act like it's the biggest chore in the world to be waiting on you, like they're angry that you had the gall to come in to their restaurant and order food. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Yes, it's got kitschy decor. Yes, it's got a silly name. Yes, there's a creepy mannequin, a singing deer head, and a bunch of goofy sayings on the wall, and it all comes together to give the place a certain "charm"... but charm only goes so far when the food sucks. Had a local recommend this place, which usually works out for us. This time it did not. Went for lunch with a party of 6, and I won't go again. Half of the party thought their food was decent (just ordered sandwiches). My sister ordered the chicken parm sandwich and it was inedible and my shrimp and grits were aweful. The service was also awful. The waitress had a big attitude problem, spilled a drink on 3 of us, when someone asked for lemons for their water she rolled her eyes grabbed 3 lemons and threw them in the water cup. read more

I had just moved to Bluffton from Massachusetts where my favorite places were unpretentious diners or local mom and pop kind of places. I wanted a southern fix of local food. This place fit the bill. The name "Squat and Gobble" definitely adds to the charm. The Waitstaff is friendly and attentive, food is fast, delicious and fits anyone's budget. The atmosphere with the singing deer or the "hostess" greeting you at the front door ;-) makes this place a weekly favorite! read more

The pancakes here are nice and airy, the eggs taste absolutely delicious and its obvious that they aren't mass produced like at a fast food chain. Good environment, and the workers are friendly, though the food here isn't the best I have ever had, it is still quite filling. read more

Not my favorite place. If you want a cheap diner breakfast in an oddly decorated building with rude waitresses then this place for you. My father in law loves this place (he likes that sort of thing I guess lol) so I've gone a few times. I do get the Greek omelette minus the gyro meat. I ask for spinach with mine. Awesome, kitschy little joint off the Bluffton Pkwy that's open 24-7 and serves a great mix of Greek and southern fare (odd mix, right? but good food!). You'll find everything from a late night (early?) breakfast crowd stopping in after bar hopping, to businessmen lunching, to bikers and grandmothers alike meeting up over a meal. I have been for lunch before and everyone enjoyed their meals. I stopped in over the Fourth of July weekend for breakfast; it was hot, tasty, fresh and inexpensive. I was hungry for breakfast and this place looked like a good place. Immediately I felt like this is where locals like to eat which is what I love when I'm visiting from out of town. The wait staff seated me promptly and were above average in friendliness. The menu was much more extensive than expected. When I eyed the "chicken fried steak" I was sold! The food was very good and the atmosphere great. I will ad that I was visiting from the west coast and Bluffton is a very pretty place and the people are quite hospitable and polite. When I visited Fort Pulaski outside Savannah the next day, I saw that some quarters were furnished with furniture purloined from Bluffton during the Civil War. read more

We finally tried this restaurant today after talking about it for awhile. Getting seated was a little weird. There's a sign up sheet then you have to wait outside, there were 4 of us and plenty of tables available. It just leaves you feeling like perhaps they forgot to check the list. we received our drinks timely, but never the onion rings we ordered. The food was okay: Hangover Special, Country fried steak, pancakes, bacon, and grits. Not one person checked on us after we received our food. Eggs weren't seasoned enough and they overcooked them. But by far the thing I found most annoying. I was dining with my guy friend and I asked for the check and when the waitress goes to give the check she shoved is in my male friends face. Service was not fantastic. This means the quasi-practiced disinterest of most of the staff with intermittent hellos and help. The food is an odd mix of good, local, and mass produced bleh. Local shrimp are on the same plate at generic purchased onion rings. An interesting Greek burger is dressed down with mayo, and Kraft cheese slices (not included on the description). While the spinach was good, and patty tasty and fresh, the overall dish was not fantastic. Much of the food is greasy, and not in the greasy spoon sort of way but the greasy greasy sort of way. We found this place while taking the back road from Charleston to Hilton head Island. The breakfast was perfectly cooked. The eggs were excellent. However the server seemed annoyed at us from the moment we got there, and never returned to our table to check on us. I have no idea why. This place was recommended by a friend whose opinion about fast, cheap, and good food I will no longer trust. The food was adequate, worthy of 2 stars: pita chips were soggy and cold, as if they were taking out of a bag and plopped on the plate. The rest of the greek salad was okay. The hamburger was cold and the bun untoasted. The big disappointment was the service; it doesn't even garner 1 star. The waitress came to get our drink order, never making eye contact with us. We hated this place! $32 for lunch, and one of the lunches was a kids lunch. I had a double cheese burger, which was $9.99 on the menu, it came with fries and a really good pickle. The fries though, we're pale shoestring type fries, with no seasoning on them, and the were soggy and under done. My oldest son ordered the grilled cheese sandwich it says $4.99 on the menu, same lousy fries, and a sandwich with one piece of American cheese, that wasn't even melted. My youngest son had the kids corn dog. On the menu it says all kids meals are $5.99 and come with a drink. So if you do the math the bill should have been $20 plus the soda my oldest son and I had. Even at 2 bucks each, there's still a 8 dollars somewhere that we were charged. But you'll never know where the charge was, because they don't give you a bill. You're to go up to the counter to pay your ticket. When we got up to the register, the cashier rang me up and said 32 dollars and whatever cents it was. I just handed her my card, left a 4 dollar tip, and walked away disgusted. The decor on the inside, is a mix match of stuff. There's a deers ass with an eyeball in it hanging on the wall. There are your typical pictures of locals or the mayor or whomever it is that may or may not be a celebrity or politician. There is one picture that was a bit freaky though, and quite cool at the same time. The little girl in the photo, seems to have her eyes follow you, and she turns from this sweet little thing, to a complete exorcist looking monster. The waitresses there are your typical diner style hash slingers, they know the regulars, they give you about 3 minutes before they're rushing you to order. When you ask for a minute, then you're on their last nerve, and they make you wait 10 minutes. The burger I ordered was so over seasoned with some kind of seasoning salt, I could only eat half of it. Our waitress joked that it was too big, and got the best of me. I told her it was awful, and I just couldn't eat it, because it was way too salty and over cooked. The pickle was good though. Other than your standard diner style food, which was worse then the Hilton Head Diner, there's nothing about this place we liked. To have food worse then the Hilton Head Diner, is saying something! And I'm sure there really isn't a compitition going on, but there has to be something, because up until today. I thought you couldn't be worse then the Hilton Head Diner. Yelpers- why are we not talking more about their OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS BISCUITS??? I had the shrimp and grits which were great- the shrimp was fresh from the May River and the brown sauce with peppers and onions was unique. But when I reached over to my boyfriends plate and stole some of his buttery, delicious biscuit...ommmmgggg. I am a southern woman born and raised in South Carolina and I can testify their biscuits are the real deal. Next time I'm getting the sausage and gravy biscuits or maybe just a half dozen biscuits for the road! So good! read more

great breakfast spot . do not be deceived by the name. it's family friendly. breakfast is made to order/ bacon is crisp, eggs as you like them, pancakes light, decent home fries, and fry what i have heard delicious cheese grits. the place is a bit dated but the chairs and stables still function well and the grill gets plenty hot. locals command a bit more attention than travelers, but that's about normal. service was agreeable. it's located right on the main drag easy to find from either directions. read more

Went because of the funny name, was delighted by the food. Gyro was terrific, as were the onion rings. Friend had the burger (seasoned beautifully) and loved it. Carrot cake was wonderful!
