We went today for brunch after a long break. But the Idlis ,Plain Dosa and Masala Dosa remain consistently fresh and delicious with all chutneys and sambar served just as tasty as ever! Prathyusha served us with the smile and courteousness that is fast becoming the hallmark of all staff at Sri Krishna Vilas! This time we also ordered the Poori with Channa Masala and it was heavenly good! The Poori was light soft and pillowy and channa Masala was spiced just right without getting over whelming! I am so glad to have found a South Indian restaurant close to one of my favorite parks in Frisco. The restaurant is gorgeous, with large windows and ample seating it is the perfect place to dine alone or with a group. The dining area is pristine and I love the separate handwashing sink in the hallway by the restrooms. The color scheme is neutral with pops of color one would find in nature. After being warmly greeted the by the host, I was sat at a booth with beautiful diamond like buttons (see photos). The server came over and brought water and showed me the QR code so I could pull up the menu. I ordered a plain dosa, Upma dosa, thali, and Dal Tadka. Everything I ate tasted fresh and was very flavorful. The food wasn't overly oily or overly salty, the flavors were very well balanced! The service was excellent as soon as I finished with my dishes the busing staff appeared to whisk them away! No complaints there. I also liked that I could check out right at the table and didn't have to wait for the server to take my card and return it to me. This not only saves time, but saves paper. In addition, the QR code menu and paperless/pen-less checkout cuts down tremendously on the spread of germs. Overall I had a pleasant experience and will definitely return in the future. read more

Today we went out for lunch I was with a couple of my buddies. My friend and I ordered two veg thalis, while the other two ordered a starter, a curry, rice, garlic naan, and roti. The starters, curry, and naan arrived first which was fine and we all started sharing and eating the starter. However, we didn't touch the naan because we were waiting for our thalis. We ended up waiting for almost half an hour before the rest of the food came out and by that time our friends had already finished eating. My friend and I were still waiting on our thalis and it had already been more than an hour. We were super hungry and asked a couple of times if the thalis were coming. The lady kept saying, "5 minutes," "10 minutes," or "just 3 more minutes," but we still didn't see them. Finally, we asked again and the thalis eventually arrived. I was so excited to eat but to my surprise, some of the curries were cold while other curries were were just warm. The sambar especially wasn't hot at all. I asked the lady about it and she brought me a fresh hot one, which tasted good. But overall, I was really disappointed with the service. If the food was going to take that long they should've informed us beforehand. Making us wait that long without any updates was frustrating. The food itself was decent but not hot and because we were so hungry, we ate it anyway. Otherwise, we probably would've left it and walked out. We didn't even want to talk to the staff after that since they were clearly super busy probably because it's Hanuman Jayanthi today!! read more

I ordered a Jain (plantain) masala rava dosa and asked my waitress, Divya, several times if it actually came with plantain masala inside. She assured me it did, confidently explaining that "plain rava" means it comes with the masala filling. I even repeated my request one last time just to be sure. When my dosa arrived, turns out it was truly plain -- no plantain masala, nothing inside except disappointment. To make things worse, it was cold and oily. I told another waiter, hoping for a fix, and requested to at least bring the plantain masala on the side. What arrived instead was something completely different -- a random oily cabbage mix with no trace of plantain, though they insisted it had some. At that point, I couldn't help but think, "Ehne mane Chuna Lagavee deedho ," which translates to "I completely got tricked!" I came expecting a flavorful Jain masala dosa, but ended up with an oily, empty one and a very confused side dish. They did cancel my order (which means they didn't charge me for it). Yes, I was left hungry, but at least not lighter in my wallet. Still, next time I'll make sure to triple-confirm anything labeled "plain." read more

My wife loves Indian food when we eat out, and while I'm often hesitant due to past experiences with inauthentic and overpriced restaurants, Sr Krishna Vilas near Coit and Main was a pleasant surprise. Growing up eating traditional South Indian vegetarian food, I've tried countless Indian restaurants across the US - left coast, right coast and many places in between. This place is a standout. I had the delicious sambar vada and gongura masala dosa (which I loved, though my wife found it just "okay"), while my wife raved about her outstanding thali (a platter featuring a variety of small dishes that together constitute a complete meal). Every element of the thali, from the perfectly spiced sambar and garlic rasam to the flavorful beetroot curry and paneer, was exceptional. The sheera/kesari and mango custard fruit salad desserts were also a treat. The only minor issue was the soggy pappad, which the attentive staff quickly replaced with a fresh one. If you're looking for authentic and delicious South Indian vegetarian cuisine, Sr Krishnan Vilas is a must-try. I am sure we will be returning. read more

The presentation was just okay, but my thali plate was missing several items. It took nearly 40 minutes to serve a simple thali, and the food was below average. On top of that, they added gratuity despite the poor service. For the high prices they charge, the experience was very disappointing. Dropped in for breakfast today- we ordered idli, vada, plain dosa and onion dosa w filter coffee. The taste on all items was incredible! The 3 chutneys were A+ perfect. Unlike other places, the contrast between the peanut and coconut chutneys was sharp. The tamarind chutney is just on an elevation by itself! Ambience is brilliant. These guys have outdone themselves for south indian cuisine- hope they can keep up this quality level. We will be back for more and soon!! read more

Nothing really special about the food or the service. Ordered an assortment of dosas - all mediocre, chutneys were just ok. It is right next to Bharat Bhavan which is hyped up like hell, so it manages to get some spill over customers who don't want to wait for 45 minutes. read more

Love the ambiance at this place. The food is great too. We usually go for their dosas. They never fail ! Love all the chutney's that go with it. My girls love their noodles too. Their gobi Manchurian is also different but very good ! Service is quick as well. At times too quick. The only thing that can get annoying at times is as soon as you're done eating it is expected that you leave . You can't seem to just sit and chat for a while. The servers are constantly hovering around and makes you feel like you need to leave. They start cleaning the tables while you're seated at times. It can seem a little rude at times. read more

They may be a cook short in the back because food takes a while to cook and the last time we went, one of the orders was so late that everyone had almost finished eating so we just cancelled it. Quantities are good. Best times to go are weekday evenings and early evenings on Friday and Saturday night. Going after 630 on a weekend and youll be waiting to be seated the restaurant will be packed. Just need to improve the service time and food prep and this restaurant will be perfect!
