My unlimited vegetarian banana leaf virundhu experience today at Sri Lakshmi Cafe with my husband was nothing short of a warm hug and embrace encapsulated by heart warming soulful home style food by a beautifully run family restaurant. Everything from palli podi to payasam was forst set up on a big table to distribute amongst patrons. The buffet timing was advertised as 11:30 am but the buffet service started only after 12 pm as they were still prepping certain food dishes. We did not mind waiting at all since the vibe was homely and it felt as though we were visiting someone's home. The whole vibe and experience was very comforting to me. I love spicy food. Having said that, they had a curd chili to spice things up since the dishes were low in spice level. This helps people who love spicy food level up their food in terms of heat. The kerela koottu, onion pakora and other accompaniments were simply awesome. They were flavorful and wholesome. The banana kari rice and boiled rice were served hot. Rasam, sambhar and dal were served hot too. Everything including sweets was unlimited. There was a tasty halwa and payasam to end the meal and both sweets were delightful. Their hospitality was everything! It felt like friends and family serving us. We will continue to visit them. Loved the vibe and the banana leaf experience. PS: I loved the bhajans, the whole vibe and the fact that they have a wash basin installed in a separate area for patrons to wash their hands after eating with their fingers. Loved it all!

A friend suggested I try their weekend special banana leaf unlimited lunch, and as someone who loves authentic Indian food, I couldn't resist. Believe me, every single item they served tasted heavenly. From the biryanis and curries to the chutneys and snacks, everything was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The variety and authenticity of the spread truly impressed me. The only area that could use some improvement is the service. It was a bit slow, and I had to ask multiple times for a few items that were included in the menu. A little more attentiveness from the staff would make the experience even better. That said, the quality of the food more than made up for it. This place deserves a big shout-out for serving such an authentic and delicious Indian feast. If you're a fan of traditional Indian flavors and generous spreads, the weekend banana leaf meal is absolutely worth trying.

Had lunch at Sri lakshmi cafe in banana leaf. After so many years and the food was amazing. It is unlimited food.

Great Ghee Podi Dosa. Good add to Milpitas South Indian Tiffins Scene.

Great add to Milpitas South Indian Vegetarian Scene. Dosa and chutneys were great. Would've preferred hotter sambar but will give a pass. Will visit again!

Delicious food in very good quantity, a lovely space, very calm and welcoming with attentive service! We stopped in on a whim as they had just opened in this location and everything we ordered was fantastic! Very reasonable prices and the food is extremely fresh! They make sure not to use anything frozen. We will definitely go again!

No lines and no crowds on a rainy day morning with plenty of available parking spots in the huge lot. Nothing attractive on the outside in this old popular plaza. The place turned out great with the old fashioned retro red color style interior and the experience was wonderful. Good vibes and positive feelings when walking into it. My lady server provided excellent service and the Hispanic male worker was quick and efficient. Place is clean and menu had good variety of selections. Breakfast is served all day while lunch items start at 11am. My breakfast was very fulfilling and total was $25.30 with everything included. I paid in cash and tipped them $5. Loved my sweet lady server. There was another older woman at the cash register. She's a local as well. I really enjoyed the stop. I had the Fajitas Omelette breakfast and the steak meats in it were very generous. Delicious breakfast exactly as I had expected. My onions green peppers potatoes were perfect with a side of salsa. Sourdough toast was delicious with the garlic butter taste. I really came for my favorite hot chocolate with whipped cream in the morning. I do miss big American breakfasts, especially in these old fashioned and traditional retro spots. Love it. Why didn't I visit this place much earlier? Because they're always busy or full inside and the plaza parking is usually congested with heavy traffic here. Overall, I love the vibes and the service. It's one of those places where you can just have normal casual conversations with the staffs working inside if you are open to it. Beautiful diner. Yes, I will be revisiting in the future. If you love huge food portions, there's great value here. One plate can easily be shared between two people. Nice.

We moved to Milpitas about a year ago and my son started going to Mil's and is a current 'Regular'. They have good food. So after a while, my husband and I started going there and we too started going there pretty regularly for breakfast, at least once or twice a week. All in all, between the family we drop a few hundred a week. And we do tip well. Most of the wait staff knows us. Today, my husband had to stop on his way home to use the restroom. He doesn't look homeless or unkempt in anyway. When he asked, they told him he couldn't unless he's a 'paying customer'. This was to a newer employee he hadnt seen before. He proceeded to explain that we eat here regularly and she still said no. He asked to speak to the manager, who does know him. He too said no. I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that for a supposed family atmosphere restaurant, they couldn't extend a small courtesy. What exactly was it going to take away from them? As mentioned, we drop a good chunk of change there, and they didnt want to help out a patron that frequents the restaurant? Well, have no fear, we will NEVER darken your doorstep EVER again.

For Dine-In: Value Menu $7: Breakfast Faves Combo comes with 2 eggs/2pancakes/2 breakfast meats. Value Menu $7: House Scramble is a good basic omelette choice with hash browns. Hot Green Tea $4.69 was enjoyable. For Takeout: Value Menu $7: French Toast Faves Combo includes 1 fluffy french toast/2 eggs/2 breakfast meats. I've been frequenting this restaurant for about 3 years. I almost always have the same server,…read moreMiriam. She's outstanding and always helps me with my every-time request - make it spicy! It started with the barbacoa chilaquiles. When I saw that that the chilaquiles in the menu had habaneros on it, I knew I had found my place. I often cook at home with ghost and scorpion peppers, which are not traditionally found in restaurants, but they've done some pretty amazing improvisation when I've asked to make it work. One time, I recall getting the chilaquiles and asking for extra habaneros and asking if their chef had a secret hot sauce that was stronger than "white people spicy." Miriam brought me a little ramekin of a pepper sauce puree that the chef prepared - and it was EPIC. I don't ask for that every time, but you know whoever was on the line took the request seriously and actually had some fun making my mouth burn. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of their willingness to "play" in the kitchen. Today, I went for breakfast and ordered the Carne En Su Jugo for my first time. Not just here - first time ever eating it anywhere. I had totally forgotten to ask them to make it spicy! I asked Miriam if there was anything they could do to spice it up. She assured me they could. Then I received it. And I tasted it. And it was cathartic. The chefs prepared a PERFECTLY spicy stew, and I downed that whole thing in 7 minutes. It was delicious, put some sweat on my brow, and left me feeling more than satisfied with my meal. I love this place! Miriam is always great every time I've been there. I will continue supporting this business as long as they keep doing business. Please give my compliments to the chefs again. Their creativity keeps me coming back for spicy treats!

We thought that was a thoughtful and considerate gesture. As for myself, I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage, eggs, and cheese. It came with a side of salsa which added some freshness and helped balance the heaviness of all the meat and cheese. Overall, it was a good hefty burrito but just a little greasy. Kenny himself is another reason to visit. He's very friendly and chatty. He even took a selfie with us and displayed it on the monitor in the restaurant, which was a fun and personal touch that really made the experience memorable. The restaurant has a cozy, homey feel with rustic tables and chairs. It feels like you're visiting a neighborhood spot. The only downside is that the service is slow. Kenny is running the shop himself, and every burrito is made fresh to order. Sure your food is fresh and made with care, but it's definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry. If you have time to spare, Kenny's is well worth the visit. The food is satisfying and Kenny's hospitality is what makes this spot unique.

It's almost like walking into a thrift shop that has random things going on from hundreds of photos of Kenny with customers, US flags, a table full of military business cards, Mercedes Benz trinkets, etc etc. Please be informed that Kenny is THE only person in here which means, he's the greeter, the cook, the cashier, and entertainer lol. The food can take long for a reason and there's no music or TV anywhere so it's quiet. The furniture is random as well; some from an office space, elementary school, and an all wooden table with chairs from someone's grandma's house. Me and my co workers ordered 2 burritos: Regular steak and eggs and a steak bulgogi. We waited maybe 15 mins for our which wasn't too long. The burritos had this soft white cheese melted on top which gave the tortilla this vanilla sweetness. I didn't really like that. The steak meat was sweet but didn't have that bulgogi marinade taste. Both of our burritos tasted like a plain egg, potato, and blank steak breakfast burrito. It was nothing special but the size is huge and one can be shared by two people. The burritos came with this sweet chipotle sauce with some sweet peppers in which it did add some flavor. Kenny is the man though! He's super nice and proud. He's very entertaining and enjoys talking to his guests. His son is in the army so it's one of the reasons why he's very patriotic. Is it a bit much?! Sure, but this cafe wouldn't be what it is without all of this randomness. It's a neighborhood gem and a historic landmark in this side of town. Kenny is well known to the area and is beloved. We enjoyed his company. Thank you so much Kenny!!

I love having breakfast at Bill's Cafe. Unfortunately, this location is not the same experience as the two other locations I've tried. The hostess told us they had no tables, and we could sit at the bar. My daughter stated she would rather be seated at a table, and we could wait. Three customers were walking past us, and the hostess said we could have their table. We were immediately seated in a booth, and we noticed there were at least five empty tables around us, peculiar. Whatever, we had time to look and decide what we each wanted. When our waiter came for our orders, he was quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and drinks to arrive. We generally liked our food, but the country potatoes were a little too firm, and seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. We had to wait awhile for refills on our drinks. We caught the hostess walking by, and asked if we could get refills and napkins. She said okay, but brought only napkins, and we waited some more for refills on coffee and water. The hostess seemed a bit brusque, on the other hand our waiter was, quick and professional. I will drive a little further to the Alameda location, because the Newbury location is not as great, or team conscious as the other location.
