    Kids Cheese Dosa

Great vegetarian restaurant! We walked in one evening looking to experience southern Indian food, and were blown away. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. They made great suggestions and made us feel good about trying things. We did go with gobi manchurian which we knew would be good for us. Kids cheese dosa was a great way to introduce kids to the menu. And for adults, a masala dosa which was very flavorful and a nice spiciness. all of the 3 dipping sauces were delicious, my favorite is the light orange one. We also tried the mini idly which came with a creamy cucumber sauce. Delicious. The restaurant had plenty of seating. Clean tables and napkins already at the tables. The decor was minimal with posters on the walls.

My unlimited vegetarian banana leaf virundhu experience today at Sri Lakshmi Cafe with my husband was nothing short of a warm hug and embrace encapsulated by heart warming soulful home style food by a beautifully run family restaurant. Everything from palli podi to payasam was forst set up on a big table to distribute amongst patrons. The buffet timing was advertised as 11:30 am but the buffet service started only after 12 pm as they were still prepping certain food dishes. We did not mind waiting at all since the vibe was homely and it felt as though we were visiting someone's home. The whole vibe and experience was very comforting to me. I love spicy food. Having said that, they had a curd chili to spice things up since the dishes were low in spice level. This helps people who love spicy food level up their food in terms of heat. The kerela koottu, onion pakora and other accompaniments were simply awesome. They were flavorful and wholesome. The banana kari rice and boiled rice were served hot. Rasam, sambhar and dal were served hot too. Everything including sweets was unlimited. There was a tasty halwa and payasam to end the meal and both sweets were delightful. Their hospitality was everything! It felt like friends and family serving us. We will continue to visit them. Loved the vibe and the banana leaf experience. PS: I loved the bhajans, the whole vibe and the fact that they have a wash basin installed in a separate area for patrons to wash their hands after eating with their fingers. Loved it all!

Excellent! While there is no dearth of South Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, there have been way more misses than hits in recent times. This place was a 10/10 across the board which is a rarity. We got the banana leaf thali, Guntur karam dosa and punugulu with filter coffee. We were eating with a South Indian thali expert who gets a Thali every where they go, and this place passed their "don't talk to me I'm eating" test. This place needs a lot of love for - food (fresh, not oily or heavy, great taste, all necessary accompaniments) - service (wonderful and polite, staff kept checking in on us, made sure we had everything, or needed chutney and thali refill etc.) - ambience ( clean and comfortable, dedicated hand washing station, spacious parking lot) Hopefully they get a lot of regulars and keep the quality and service the same!

A friend suggested I try their weekend special banana leaf unlimited lunch, and as someone who loves authentic Indian food, I couldn't resist. Believe me, every single item they served tasted heavenly. From the biryanis and curries to the chutneys and snacks, everything was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The variety and authenticity of the spread truly impressed me. The only area that could use some improvement is the service. It was a bit slow, and I had to ask multiple times for a few items that were included in the menu. A little more attentiveness from the staff would make the experience even better. That said, the quality of the food more than made up for it. This place deserves a big shout-out for serving such an authentic and delicious Indian feast. If you're a fan of traditional Indian flavors and generous spreads, the weekend banana leaf meal is absolutely worth trying.

Had lunch at Sri lakshmi cafe in banana leaf. After so many years and the food was amazing. It is unlimited food.

Great Ghee Podi Dosa. Good add to Milpitas South Indian Tiffins Scene.

Great add to Milpitas South Indian Vegetarian Scene. Dosa and chutneys were great. Would've preferred hotter sambar but will give a pass. Will visit again!

Delicious food in very good quantity, a lovely space, very calm and welcoming with attentive service! We stopped in on a whim as they had just opened in this location and everything we ordered was fantastic! Very reasonable prices and the food is extremely fresh! They make sure not to use anything frozen. We will definitely go again!

Delicious kadai paneer and naan, and very friendly service! Also enjoyed the mango lassi which tasted like fresh mangoes. It's nice that they make an effort to use natural ingredients and no artificial colorings.

I visited during lunch with a few friends, and we were wowed by the variety of food options. The naan was served fresh, and everything we tried tasted really good. Everything was delivered on time and tasted perfect. For appetizers, we ordered Dahi Bhalla, Achaari Paneer, and Gobi Manchurian. For the main course, we had Chana Masala, Butter Chicken, and Paneer Lababdar, along with Naan and Lachcha Paratha. We also ordered Moong Dal Halwa for dessert. Dahi Bhalla was a super hit! It's been sitting there for a while, so the wifey and I finally decided to drive down to Milpitas and give this Thali place a try. I'm glad we did because their Thali is probably one of the best we've had, if not the best. FYI Thali is LUNCH only. Here is my take. Food (4.5 stars) +The Combo Thali for around $18 is the way to go. Don't overthink it and don't order anything else. You get a little bit of everything, which is exactly why we like Thali. If there's something you don't like, just give it to your partner. My wife doesn't like lamb, so I ended up with double lamb. Bonus for me! + Lamb curry was probably my favorite. Tender meat with a flavorful curry and it went perfectly with the rice. Since my wife donated hers to me, I had plenty! + Fried fish is also very good. You don't get a huge piece, but with so many other things on the plate, it's enough. That's the beauty of Thali--you get a few bites of everything instead of committing to one giant dish. + Chicken curry was also good. Nothing on the plate really needs to be eaten by itself because everything complements each other. You get savory, spicy, sour and even a little sweet throughout the meal. + There are also the usual Thali sides like dal, sumbar, yogurt, dessert and another sour/soupy dish. Rice sits right in the middle and you basically mix and match your way through the entire plate. + I also really like the papadum. It's that thin crispy Indian cracker that gives you a nice crunchy break between all the curries and softer foods. ~ PRO TIP: The only thing to consider is whether you prefer a Thali or an Indian buffet. At a buffet, you can essentially get many of these same types of dishes and eat as much as you want. With a Thali, you're getting smaller portions of everything. Personally, I like the variety and having everything served together, especially when the combo is only around $18. Service/Ambiance (4.5 stars) + We came during lunch and there was only one other customer while we were there, so service was good and the food came out rather quickly. + The restaurant has some really nice paintings along the walls. Some of the scenery almost looked Mediterranean to me, although I'm assuming they're depicting places somewhere in India. Either way, they add some character to the restaurant. + It's a comfortable, casual place to sit down and enjoy a Thali without much fuss. GET THE COMBO! You get fish, lamb, chicken, rice, dal, sides, dessert and all the little extras that make eating Thali fun. Between the two of us, if one person doesn't like something, the other person probably will. In my case, that strategy resulted in double lamb, so I definitely wasn't complaining. Wifey gives Vande Bharat 4.5 stars and I'm right there with her. For the price, variety and flavors, this is easily one of our favorite Thali meals we've had. Yelp got this recommendation right!

They catered our wedding of 260 guests, and Tarun and his team completely blew everyone away. We had a VERY hard-to-please crowd, including a lot of guests coming from India who work in hospitality and restaurants themselves, and people could not stop talking about the food. I searched high and low for a Bay Area Indian wedding caterer and honestly found a lot of the options disappointing. Amber was completely different. The food was incredibly flavorful, beautifully cooked, and actually presented well too, which can be hard to pull off at this scale. They are also a full service caterer, which makes managing the event much easier. We used Amber for all of our wedding events, and Tarun made sure every menu felt different and interesting rather than just repeating the standard butter chicken-type dishes. We had paneer tacos, Indo-Chinese served in Chinese takeout boxes, which was SUCH a cute touch, pani puri shooters that made them super easy to eat, and an incredible rasmalai tres leches for dessert, among many other items. The value is also amazing. For some of our pre-wedding events, we did their roughly $40/person package with four items plus dessert. I was worried it might not be enough food, but it was more than plentiful. Tarun himself is an absolute gem. He is kind, accommodating, creative, and goes above and beyond to make the event feel special. You can tell he genuinely cares. We did not want a standard buffet as we wanted the event to feel more elevated, and he did a great job of accomodating our request for family style, as well as serving apps + mains at two different venues in the South Bay ~20-30 min from each other. Our guests are still talking about the food. Amber India truly helped make our wedding weekend, and I would recommend them without hesitation. Easily one of the best decisions we made.
