As soon as i walk in i can see that the covid regulations are set in stone with drapes of plastic covers surrounding each individual tables The food is very delicious, the side dishes taste authentic and the beef combo was just bliss. I got to try the non marinaded beef combo which consists of cuts of briskets, sseng galbi, and a fat slab of ribeye steak. For 99.99 i think its great portion for 2 people. This place is terrible. We have been here in the past and was very disappointed this time. We order the marinated beef combo and were very upset. They had a busboy grill our meat for us. We asked for our meat to be cooked medium and he served it to use rare. He kept on turning the flame up and down causing us to sit back so he can adjust the dial. The meat was also very chewy even cooked. They gave us meat that was not tender at all. The rice was also like it was overnight rice they heated up. The soup was sour. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for his cousin's birthday after looking for kbbq places on yelp. The food and service are both excellent. We decided to get the beef combo, which includes like 5-6 different cuts of beef and it filled us all up at the price of only $100. The combo also came with a bean paste soup and fluffy steamed eggs. Both the waitress and waiter we had were so accommodating and helped us refill both water and side dishes without us asking! I was surprised to see that they don't just throw the meats onto the grill and move it around. They put the meats on piece by piece and helped us cook them. HEPA filters, full power ventilation hoods, and thick dividers between all stalls. Staff are still super friendly. Hands down the best pork belly you will eat in all of New York. 1) Fresh pork belly - not frozen! Quality of the meat was crazy good and the cut was thick. The thickest pork belly I have seen in Queens. Korea does this kind of thick cut pork belly, but I had yet seen meat this thick and juicy until I came here. 2) Huge portion - Usually a single serving of pork belly would be a strip and half, but they give two strips. Keep in mind the thickness is almost 4x that of other restaurants. 3) Price - They are doing an anniversary sale $15.99/serving which is CRAZY cheap. 4) Sides - Side dishes are what makes Korean food so unique. I'm thankful for Ssam Tong because I now don't have to travel to Manhattan for good meats for KBBQ. Ordered the Combo A (3 beef for $99.99) and destroyed it with my 3 friends. Combo also comes with a soybean paste tofu soup and gyeranjjim (steamed egg) to put a cherry on top of what is already a fantastic combo. I came to this restaurant on mothers day and I can't say that I was disappointed. The food quality was delicious. I went with a party of 4 and a reservation to have indoor seating. If you want to eat indoors I suggest getting a reservation since the wait might be long. We ordered two orders of Galbi and 1 order of Bulgogi. For an appetizer we got a scallion pajeon. Everything tasted really good. The galbi was well marinated along with the bulgogi. The pajeon had good crunch and strong scallion flavor. One thing I would say is that service was a bit slow which is understandable. The staff was working really hard to help every customer and following cdc guidelines and maintaining safety. It took a couple times to ask the server for something or for water and sometimes it would take multiple times to get one thing. I came here b/c of all the positive reviews on Yelp, and when I mentioned that to the server, he just smirked at me. After my experience here, I'm convinced that many of these reviews are probably written by the owner's friends and/or relatives. The side dishes were few and mostly bland, and the meat was even more bland. The beef brisket was passable, but the kalbi was just tasteless (which I didn't even think was possible!). The highlights were the made-in-house kimchi, a wonderful balance of crunchy texture and sour fermented taste and the marinated galbi, which melted like butter in our mouths. Came here because the old ball and chain loves Korean bbq. The tapas they give you were blah. We got some pork, beef and chicken. The chicken and beef was good but the pork was just blah. Also, for the price we paid, it really wasn't a good portion. The steamed egg was burnt. There was a dead bug in the lettuce used to make wraps, probably because they didn't wash it well enough. I've been over Kbbq for sometime and only go when I'm forced. First Korean BBQ I've tried after moving from LA-- this place impressed the hell out of me. I chose this spot because it was one of the very few places that took reservations for parties less than 6 on the weekends. We were 2 hours late but they picked up every time I called and said it was fine. They were polite and efficient with getting the food out and cooked. The owner was cracking jokes and so friendly. As for the food-- the meat Just MELTS in your mouth. Their combo portions are hefty and prices are very reasonable. Two stars because this place was really short staffed and really busy so I'm giving benefit of the doubt but seems to be a consistent thing based on other reviews. Food was really expensive and quality/quantity doesn't match up. Heat is turned up right away without greasing the grill / left to heat up for 20-30 minutes. Their pancake was soggy and doughy without much flavor, their fried dumpling's center filling was of the usual frozen nonsense. Our group (some korean, some non) all had different tastes for what to order so the owner(?) listened to what we were looking for and his recommendation was perfect for us in terms of flavor/texture/portion size/etc. We got the thick cut pork belly plus the unmarinated combo (both thick and thin cuts), so we could definitely tell how good the meat was on its own, as well as with the sesame oil+salt or in the lettuce wrap with samjang. I was an angry camper coming into this restaurant at 8:30 PM my friend ever-so-wanted to visit. It took me 50 minutes to find the right parking spot without going through the option of valet parking.... Little did I know... this place is amazing. The meat quality is out of this world. The meat had fat well distributed around the meat and their manager + staffs were super polite to us, making it very hard for me to give less than five stars lol. They also gave us a lot of side dishes! It always makes it a fun meal to have when you have a lot of different food to stimulate your taste palettes. Needless to say, the struggle to find a valid parking spot was worth it. We had a great time here and the price is reasonable when compared to other Korean bbq places.
