Listen up! When you visit, make sure you have an appetite because the food just keeps coming! You will be good and fed even before the meats come out. Their service is efficient and friendly! The food is fresh and tasty. The presentation is great and the flavors are For Japanese BBQ, I've not found much better.
This restaurant pretty good!! I went to a Japanese bbq in Japan and this is pretty similar! The people and servers were very nice! Service fast and very thoughtful. Our server was very nice to the kids and high fived them. We had a set and the meat was very good and easy to cook. There was a wheel in the front and we won free meat! The set came with only 6 smores but the waiter was really nice and brought us 8! It's really chill ambiance and our waiter Ke was very helpful! Thank you!

This restaurant has an unassuming entrance tucked away in the chaos of Flushing. As soon as you open the door, you're transported to a different world. Dark wood, cozy lighting and almost feels like you're going into a speakeasy bar. We checked in with the first hostess where the bathrooms are located. You will need a keycode. Once our full party arrived, we were told to head upstairs where there is another seating area and another host greets us. We waited about a total of 30 minutes after our reserved time of 5:30. We got to our table and felt the chill in the air. We're hoping once the grills were on, that it would warm us up. Half was bench seating and the other half was stools. OK for kids but might be harder for older adults. Jenny was our server and quite knowledgeable on the food options, allergies and menu. We ordered one of the preset menus for a large group that comes with cooked food and raw meats to grill. The fried dumplings were good, edamame was standard, salad was good but heavily dowsed with dressing. My favorite of the cooked food was the Japanese fried chicken (karage). It tasted way better than it looked because it looked overcooked and dry. The meat was juicy and tender. Kids loved it. Sukiyaki beef bibimbap was delicious. Simple but packed flavor. Spicy volcano was good with the flavor and different textures. The meats were really good. Veggie patter was standard. The variety and quality of the beef was excellent. The shrimp was standard. Overall, all the foods that needed to be grilled had good flavor. I didn't need to use any sauce as the meats were already well seasoned. One of our grills kept turning off and we were told it was due to the ventilation system. Frustrating but we got the hang of turning the grill back on. Service was excellent. Very attentive staff and great at keeping things moving. Definitely a well-oiled machine operating here. Smores were a part of the package and it was a lovely way to end the meal. Really nice experience here and the value was certainly worth it.
After spending the day at the US Open, we were looking for a late meal that wasn't heavy and decided to try this place. Located off of Main St, it is located on the second floor. We skipped the BBQ and ordered Beef Bibimbap Sukiyaki, Tonkatsu Ramen and for dessert, we shared a Chocolate Lava cake. They didn't disappoint and it hit the spot. Service is friendly and efficient. There is booth seating said we had some privacy which was nice. Definitely recommend if you want something other than Chinese cuisine.
I always have a great time at gyukaku!! The food is consistently great quality, service is friendly and fast, and the prices are reasonable. It's really fun grilling the food! There's a lot of options on the menu- including vegetarian ones if you have a vegetarian friend. There's an amazing all day happy hour with great prices- basically lunch every day, even weekends, is happy hour. The restaurant is always clean, & seats are comfortable. Tables are roomy.
Love coming here never disappoints. Meat lovers course is the go for 2 definitely the right amount of food for 2 fresh and delicious. Lychee mojito was great and tasty. Service here was top tier, there was a short wait slightly busy surprisingly on a Monday afternoon ambiance is nice and casual.
came here for lunch with friends on a tuesday and it was a really smooth & pleasant experience. we were right in time for the lunch special & our waiter recommended the harami skirt steak ($5 additional charge btw) and it was absolutely worth it!! best choice on the menu. it comes with soup and salad, plus we ordered cucumbers and kimchi on the side. only small note is the bathroom area downstairs was a bit cold since it's near the outside door.

Arrived around 3PM on a Saturday. They do happy hour on the weekends! Wasn't super busy. My party of 2 got a table for 4 so it was comfortable sitting there. Menu was a bit sticky. I'm gluten free and a majority of the menu has the GF label. This surprised me as marinades usually have gluten in it, usually from soy sauce or flour thickeners. Even the table sauces are all gluten free. The spicy one was my favorite. Everything was delicious
The food was really good. I have visited other locations that are good as well but this is my favorite so far. The staff is really nice and there was no wait. The style of the location is a cool sexy vibe with low lighting and designed well.

My son have been wanting yakiniku (Japanese-style grilled meats over a flaming charcoal grill) ever since we had it last year at their East Village location. It was definitely a memorable experience... We decided to give their Flushing location a try & it did not disappoint. Our server, Nicholas, provided us with exceptional service. He was very friendly, helpful & super attentive. We opted for the premium + ultimate AYCE, which has 65 items. All the food came out quick- one after the other. The meats were marinated perfectly, fresh quality cuts, flavorful & tender, they cook fast too. Everything was sooo delicious. My son loved the beef tongue (I wasn't a fan) as well as every single beef item he ordered. I especially loved the hirami skirt steak, toro beef & kalbi chuck rib. I also really liked the cheese corn butter & matcha mochi ice cream. This is 1000x better than Korean BBQ. We can't wait to eat it again:] read more

Came here on a Wednesday night and it was not too busy nor loud. We were seated right away and had a super knowledgeable waiter! Walked us through the whole menu without even looking and made great suggestions! Our stove top wasn't working quite well most of our time there so he let us have additional time added to our table which was so nice of him! The meat selection was pretty great and he was pretty on top of making sure we had drinks. He came frequently to help with the stove and meats which made it feel way more personal. This was my second time here and would definitely come back! My friend and I chose the Meat Lover's course which left us stuffed. I like how the set comes with salad, soup, apps, and meats--nice and well-balanced meal. Their cocktails are also super yummy. Recommend the Tokyo Iced Tea, Lychee Mojito, and Mango Tango. Not crazy loud in here and our booth was nice and spacious. Also, I noticed that I didn't leave smelling like meat (which I expected to) so that was great. Before today, I have never been to a bbq place without an experienced bbq-er (someone just tends to take over and orders for everyone at the table and I just sit and eat) so I was a little nervous. Steven is the besttt! He was super patient and took the time to explain the menu to us. My family and I come here frequently to get our Korean bbq fix. Today I had a mango Mai tai which was really good. (I think this is my new go to drink when I come here) We were party of 8 so we ordered the feast combo which came with a variety of meats, 2 bowls of rice, vegetables to grill, a delicious salad, edamame, garlic shrimp and 6 s'mores to grill. We added a few menu items on- garlic noodles with chicken , additional rice and another harami skirt steak because who doesn't want a to go plate ? *I was devouring the food so it slipped my mind to take more pictures. The food is oh so delicious!! The beef rice will have you dreaming about this place. Our party had a few first timers and they couldn't stop talking about how much they enjoyed it. Safe to say, they'll be back. Although the place was busy, our server Palm, did a great job frequently checking in on with hs to make sure we were okay. At the heart of Flushing, Gyu Kaku is known by everyone who frequents Main Street. While walking to your table, you are greeted in Japanese by nearby staff members in unison. You're told there is a 90 minute seating limit. The seating area is spacious and dimly lit, great for a hangout or a date night, with room underneath the table to put your belongs. My boyfriend and i have been here a few times with friends and love the meat lovers and short ribs. This time, we were adventurous and decided on the ultimate buffet special $68 pp which lets you pick from a list of 65 items. I'd have to say had we not been craving kaarage (jap fried chicken) the standard level buffet would've been enough. The price was pretty steep and although meats and seafood were flavorful, there were a few tough/chewy selections (i forget which cuts they were, yes they were cooked) and truthfully can't recommend it for the price. I would stick to the meat lover option ($70 for 2) or the lowest tiered buffet choice ($58 pp). read more

We went for the weekday lunch special and it was really busy for a weekday but then we found out that they only had two servers on duty and that's probably why the tables weren't turned fast enough. Good thing we had a reservation. With that said, the servers did really well, not as attentive as they normally are but not bad considering the circumstances. The food was still really good, they rearranged their menu a bit which made it much easier to understand, showing the upcharges better. Now we can see how four people ordering $20 lunch specials can walk out spending $170 not including tip LOL. I still say the bistro hanger steak is my favorite and I really enjoy their salad because the salad dressing is so good. Overall, a really enjoyable meal. read more

Probably my millionth visit to this location last night and I never wrote a review. We love gyu kaku, the concept is so fun but also the meat is insane. I was stoked that we lucked out with a booth last night. We had a 10 pm reservation for happy hour and ordered a few meats a la carte. Our favorites were the pork belly, kalbi and sirloin. The meats are brought out quickly and are super delicious and easy to cook! With the happy hour prices, everything is a steal. We ended with matcha tiramisu which was so so good. Our server Ke made sure to help us through the cooking process and made the experience go smoothly. They also gave an app where you can collect points for coupons, so more of an incentive to go. I really recommend this place especially for groups, the food and vibes are great. read more

Indoor dining is allowed. Need reservations, I felt safe. They wear their masks and you are spaced out. Never been on a Thursday but I always make reservations now. They take your contact info and take temps at the door.
