We visited on a Sunday and were lucky enough to catch Soup Joumou day. The soup was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. I had the beef version and finished every bite. The patties were another standout: flaky, crispy, and juicy. We tried both beef and chicken, and the beef was definitely the favorite. We also ordered black rice with peas, fried plantains, stewed chicken, baked mac and cheese, and griot to go. Everything was made fresh, well-seasoned, and the portions were just right. The drinks were refreshing too, we had the Couronne Fruit Champagne soda and the Ji Sitwon lemonade. One thing to note: food is cooked to order, so it's best not to come in a rush or to call ahead if you're short on time. It was about a 45-minute drive for us, but absolutely worth it. Even the leftovers didn't last long at home. Plenty of parking, great food, and a spot I'll definitely be returning to. If you're looking to try Haitian cuisine or switch things up, Pops & Poosh in Baldwin is well worth a visit.

Dimmed lighting, shades closed so there was no natural lighting. The restaurant was decorated as if it was still Valentine's Day. (odd). The food was good, pricey, nice sized portions, tasty--but a bit too salty. $20 for a bottle of Saratoga water was ridiculous. It's supposed to be a black-owned business unfortunately the owner is unknown. We left with a full belly, food to go and ears popping!!

I ordered the oxtail and didn't really like the sauce but that's a personal thing. I ordered the curry goat and salmon burger to take home as well as calamari. None were really great, just ok. The calamari at the restaurant had some peppers and ginger which gave it a kick. The one I ordered to go had nothing but fried calamari, unfortunately I was home so couldn't take it back. The drinks!! I am definitely skipping this next time. A cocktail is $48 plus gratuity and tax means spending $55 on a cocktail drink. Nooooo!!! Even in Vegas, I didn't spend this much on a cocktail drink! I was alarmed at my check. It was so high for lunch but now I know better. Plus watch out for the 22% gratuity! The waiter wouldn't split the bill so my takeout was lumped into the entire check and had to pay 22% gratuity on the takeout!!) I gave a low score because of the sneaky high check and the food which was just ok. The food presentation was amazing though. That's a 10/10.
