My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary to celebrate. Such a quaint boutique style restaurant. It's very intimate and dark to make you feel cozy and welcome. I didn't catch our waiters name but he had silver hair and knew everything about the menu and selections. He was amazing. We started our meal with their escargot and crab cake. Next time we go, we will just have three orders of escargot. We then moved on to our cups of soup, the champagne brie soup and their French onion soup. Both delicious and filling, so be sure to just get the cup. I had a Caesar salad that would make the creator very proud of. Now our main courses. My wife got the Coq au vin Rouge and I was feeling brave to try their Duck Breast "L'Orange". Both meals came out perfect and looked delicious. My wife enjoyed hers a lot. Here's the kicker, I wanted to try duck since I haven't had it just as the main course before. I bit into it and the skin was crispy but.. the duck to me was eh. The sauce they have and side dish the duck sits on was tasty. But the breast didn't have flavor. I told the waiter and he IMMEDIATELY took it back and cooked a small filet of steak for me. He then came back and told me "mate, I tried the duck myself and sadly you got a bad catch so that's on us completely." I was happy to hear he shared my concern and share his knowledge. I don't eat a lot of duck so I don't know much. They gave us a free dessert to cover their mistake but definitely worth paying for under normal circumstances. Love the vibe and ambiance of the new St. Martin's! You enter and you feel like you are in a fine dining establishment! Lots of old fixtures from the original, like piano music and the bar. The maître d' was professional and friendly, making us feel welcome and that they were pleased we came. The valets were very professional, opening doors and ensuring they opened the door for my wife when we left (not always done other places). They addressed us respectfully and made us feel they were glad we came as well. Table service was fine - helpful, very friendly, and attentive. Maybe it's just me, but it feels too casual for me in a fine dining vibe for the waiter to insist on call us by our first name with a Mr. or Miss in front of it. If they are going to call by name, in a fine dining setting, I would prefer the last name with a Mr. or Mrs. in front. The former is southern in some casual establishments, but this isn't supposed to be a casual vibe. Perhaps a little coaching. All said, the service and timing was very good. The food was very good for the most part. The beet and feta salad, as well as the escargot appetizer we highly recommend. The French bread was disappointing. May have been because we had fantastic freshly baked French bread at Ruth's Chris the prior night. Anyway, the table bread could be much better. The Coq au Vin was exceptional and highly recommended. The only disappointment was the duck. It didn't seem really fresh and was a smaller portion. We had wine by the glass and truly enjoyed the Bordeaux. Next time we look forward to trying dessert! We ordered some escargot that was delicious and so cheesy! we use that delicious bread to sop up the rest of the cheese sauce in the escargot dish. probably not great manners but great food. The steak tartare was really good and the brioche toast that came with it was the bomb. The champagne brie soup was so delicious; I could've bathed in it. It was rich and luxurious. The food is one of the worst i ever had in this pretentious restaurant. Crab cakes are tasteless, the pate I get from a can is far better than theirs. The chicken probably spent half of his life in the oven before being served, dry with cold potatoes. The scallops are salty at a point they're barely eatable. Horrible! read more

We usually get the Thai style mussels but this time we opted for the shrimp, crab cake and the escargot. Make sure to get some extra fresh baked bread for dipping in the exquisite escargot sauce. Our group had everything from duck to the rack of lamb. All were amazing. Champagne Brie soup is not to be missed. Although the lobster bisque is hard to pass up. We split a bunch of dishes and everything was fantastic! We got the mussels, shrimp, beef tartar, Brie soup, lobster bisque and blackberry cheesecake for dessert! The ambiance was very nice with the live jazz. The table next to us even got engaged at dinner and the restaurant offered them free champagne. Michelin had a miss on this one. I've been to several of the restaurants on the "lists," and many of them are far inferior to this place. If you want the quintessential darkly lit restaurant with a little twist on "French", then this is your place. Someone called it "Texas French"... not because of a fusion, but because of portion size. St Martin has the best, most delicate, and rich foigras we've ever had. The escargot was so tasty and flavorful as any 1,2, or 3 star Michelin we've been to. Overall It was expensive, but for the portion size, it was not. The wife loved every dish. We over-ordered, but there were still other things we wanted to try. Charly was excellent, and all the staff made you feel welcome and well attended to. We weren't able to get the souffle, though.... needs 40 minutes. That was the only "miss" in our whole experience here. read more

Atmosphere: - Very romantic, perfect mood for a date night. Lighting was extremely dim, though, so it made it difficult to see at times (couldn't see the food very well unless I shined a flashlight). - It was unique to have a live piano player (they have one every day after 5pm), so props to the pianist for playing for so long. Service: - Top-notch service. The host and waiters were extremely kind and personable. They were on top of checking up on us, and provided ample time for us to make our menu choices/explain what some items were. Food/Drinks: - The standout was the Tartare. Seasoned almost perfectly, very tender and balanced out nicely despite the many ingredients that goes into the dish. The butter toast was a nice touch. - The soups were just okay in my opinion. The Champagne-Brie had a ton of depth, but had a strong taste of heavy cream, so only get that if that's something you enjoy. It was extremely rich, so I could really only get one or two spoonfuls of it down before it was too much for me. - French onion wasn't terrible, but wasn't amazing either. There was sort of a bitter aftertaste, I'm assuming maybe from the caramelization process, but was hoping for more of a mellow and sweet after tone. - Coq Au Vin Rouge was a great main dish. The chicken was juicy and extremely tender, and was packed full of flavor. I do think the side accoutrements could have been done a little better (carrots could have been more tender, potato, and onion were undercooked). Otherwise, somewhat cohesive dish. - I enjoyed the sea bass sauce, but wish they used something like Chilean Sea Bass. I was expected more of a flaky, fatty fish to be cut with the acidic base sauce, while the fish used was a bit fishy but may appeal to some. Price: - Honestly prices were a little high. My fiancé and I came here for a recent celebration and really enjoyed our experience. For one, the restaurant is just as romantic and vibey as it is marketed. The Brie-champagne soup is really good! If you are looking to try something you won't find elsewhere, make sure to try that soup out. My only two disappoints we're being sat so closely to another couple (you kind of share a booth in the back) so we felt like part of their conversation, and the lamb chops were cooked unevenly. Two lamb chops were really rare and the other two were well done. I had asked for medium rare and although they were not cooked evenly, they still had a really good taste. St. Martins is officially one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. Service was phenomenal, I walked in to eat and while I waited they brought me wine. Got a seat at the bar, ordered the duck at recommendation of one of the bartenders. The duck was so good, comes medium rare, easy to cut and served perfectly on potatoes and a sort of tangy sauce (I can't remember the name of the sauce). The desert was great as well, I got the chocolate tarrine which was a perfect portion, creamy and rich. Wine is good, music and atmosphere even better! Definitely going back asap. read more

My wife and I were excite to try St Martin's after rave reviews. Our waiter promptly delivered the wine list, and we picked a bottle. Then, crickets--for 15 minutes, he breezed past us, ignoring our need for food menus. We finally ordered two salads and a lobster thermidor to share. Big mistake. His vibe shifted instantly, likely ticked we weren't padding his tip with two entrees. We usually tip as if we'd ordered separately--same effort, right? But his sulky attitude made me second-guess that logic. He barely lifted a finger after that: plates piled up, no check in sight. Safe to say, we're never coming back. read more

Great quality evening in a new restaurant. My wife, Dana, took me to the newly reopened St. Martin's Wine Bistro at Peak and Bryan. The ornate wood, white table cloths, and elegant paintings reminded me of Arthur's on Quorum, Ruggeri's, and the Old St Martin's on Greenville. The warm greetings by the Maitre'd, and also owners who remembered us Omid Haftlang and Pasha Heidari immediately made an at home feeling. My wife had chosen the perfect table and reserved it with them earlier by phone. The food, onion soup and steak for me, sole for Dana, drinks, and service by Mr Rene were excellent. The piano music by Luis and the lighting made it so romantic. Then, because I was celebrating 80th, the desert creme bruilee was a delicious finale. Fantastic. So glad the new location is open now. The escargot was top tier. Best in town. Service is spectacular, Damon the host was extra friendly and accommodating. The piano player takes requests as well. They have a fireplace in the back which will be the go to spot in the winter. It has the same feel as the previous location and is the best date spot in town. Such a romantic ambiance. The sol was fantastic as were the mussels and foie gras. The champagne Brie soup is the same as before and is a classic. 10 out of 10. We celebrated my birthday at the new location of St. Martin's. They have recreated the ambiance of the original room very nicely. The service was outstanding and it was a terrific evening. My husband had the escargot, which seems to be in a different sauce than previously. It was very good, though we both liked the old recipe better, I think. I had the lobster bisque, which was amazing - a huge serving of lobster in the middle of a large entree bowl of extremely rich bisque. I loved it, and I should have stopped there. The hubby had the steak frites, which was cooked perfectly and which was also a large serving. I had the lamb chops, with a wonderful port reduction and very tasty mashed potatoes. My only issue was that the piano was too loud in the front room, and it needs tuning. Those are both easily solvable issues. I am so glad St. Martin's has returned, and I will be back! read more

We were so happy when then new location opened! They still have valet parking which is a big plus. The interior was very reminiscent of the old location. The pianist, the dark wood, the marble flooring. We had the ribeye and the scallop, both were fantastic. Don't pass us the Champagne Brie soup! The service was impeccable, and there were many managers walking around checking on guests. The bathrooms are larger. The acoustics are NOT the same; it was very loud.
