Omelette with ham, sausage, mushroom, and onion. Was very good.
    Ron R.

Stack burger seems like a local mom and pop burger joint. Walked here from the hotel to get a reasonably priced breakfast. Had the omelette. You get four items in it and a side of potatoes for about $6-7. It is half the price and better quality than room service. The neighborhood and building seem shady. All the doors were locked and you had to order at the window and seat outside only if you wanted yo eat there. The glass on the back door was shattered and some fell out when tired to get in cause it was locked. The lady who took my order was friendly and efficient. They do take phone and card payments but do NOT take discover. So paid cash instead. Food was great and better value and quality than room service. Would definitely come back here when in town again and recommend you give them a try.

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with French Fries
    Yaniv B.

I had a craving for Philly cheesesteak earlier this week and since I can no longer get my fix from papa geno's (closed near me) I checked for what is near downtown I could snag for lunch and saw Stack Burger show up as highly rated.. I knew their main menu is based on burgers but the pictures looked good enough so I thought I'd give it a try. I pulled up to the parking lot and saw there was no inside.. just outdoor seating, which normally downtown isn't the most attractive option but the weather was nice, no one around that made me uncomfortable, and the place looked very welcoming, and I'm glad I stayed! The staff were super friendly, menu was simple enough, and I got my food within about 5 minutes of ordering. I tried to download their app per their website and couldn't find it in the App Store! On to the meat of the review.. the sandwich was fantastic! I loved the ratios, the crispy flaky bread, the hot meat and spicy peppers, gooey cheese. At first glance I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish it but honestly it was too good not to. The fries were nice and crispy, but the sandwich was definitely worth coming back for. I don't know if I'll ever actually taste the burger since I have so many favorite burger places, but I'll definitely be coming back for the Philly cheesesteak!

    Double Stack with Cheese Burger

This review is for delivery and the food only. A burger craving is so different than other cravings. It doesn't really die until you satisfy it-- the grease and gout calls for us all. I ordered the Double Stack with cheese. Now, this is a decent Burger. A no frills Burger, and this is not to spit on gourmet burgers because there's definitely a time and a place. It's not the best or has absolutely mind blowing flavors. But when you just want a simple burger with a soft bun, 2 meat patties, melted American cheese, crisp bright lettuce that doesn't look like it was dragged along the McDonald's kitchen floor before it was slapped onto your burger, crunchy onions, juicy tomato slices, the essential condiments (mayo, mustard, ketchup) and then finally, the healthiest addition of bacon... as you see where I'm going with this, it was everything my cholesterol levels didn't need. Jokes aside, I will say this burger tasted a lot fresher than most burger places. I didn't feel it was anywhere as greasy as a typical burger is, and I really appreciate and applaud Stack Burger for its obvious commitment to better ingredients and simplicity. I didn't feel like a beached whale after all. The burger without bacon is $6.99 on DoorDash, and I imagine the prices are even better at the actual brick and mortar. If you want a combo with fries and. 20oz drink, it's like $12.99. Other places charge $12 for just the burger alone. Feed your family in this economy! If you want a simple burger that won't break your pockets, Stack Burger will get the job done.

    Breakfast Sandwich. Sausage and bacon

Very good breakfast sandwich. Cooked fresh with plenty of bacon and sausage. Also love that the egg is not scrambled. Service can be a little slow when they are busy but it's worth the wait.

Over the years I've taken some FLAK I've been told that my mind has just one TRACK Something about doing something or other in the SACK And heading down to the old tin roof love SHACK But whoever said that really doesn't know JACK See there's some knowledge that those critics LACK That me without food is like cheese without MAC Knowing great hidden food gems is the new BLACK And for downtown's best burger I'll award the PLAQUE To the cheap juicy ones at this place called STACK WHAT This is a lovely little burger place right in downtown Houston, and it seems very unique and original, serving some Vietnamese goodies and some pretty cool cheap large burgers for lunch to the lunch crowd, and it's these kind of little unique, locally owned family friendly places which should be celebrated and kept alive, and that's why I'm giving it a 5-star rating. There are some Better Burgers in town, nearby Lankford for one, but it's also better here at Stack than a lot of the others, and their whole menu is worth exploring. And if they opened up one in Moscow, it'd be "Stack In The USSR." And if Mark Morrison did a song about this burger it'd be "Return Of The Stack (it is!)". OK this isn't working. I'll quit while I'm significantly behind. And once you go Stack, you never go Back.

"That is what you call a burger", is what I said after I sinked my teeth into the 1st bite after. It had me looking at the burger shaking my head up & down smiling like a little the burger was talking back to me saying "yeah I know you like that". I was very pleased with this burger. A must try especially for burger lovers ! Fries were good too, nice & seasoned. The fountain drink that I got which was sprite was very bubbly & flavorful. It's nothing like when people make sure their fountain machines are clean! Stack burger is a must try burger!

I got the cheeseburger on my work lunch break, and it was so yummy. Prices are fair, and the lady who works there is very kind. Be aware that there is no place to eat, and you must take it to go. Overall, great burger, I'd eat there again.

Thankfully, Mark was there and initially was told a 35 minute wait but seemed intent by quicker. Ambiance: 4/5 It was breakfast time so of course it was a busy time. For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

I'll admit that when we got there, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is a different feel. We were greeted and told we could sit where we like. What I eventually found both surprised and delighted me, and Nate's gets a thumbs up overall. Pictures are deceiving as I thought the place would be larger but it's a tight fit for bigger groups. There are only a handful of tables but plenty of character. It's also a bit grimey, unsightly and even a tinge dodgey, which may be a deal breaker for others but is an immediate appeal to me. Two things immediately standout when it comes to the food: the portions and the prices are outstanding. The offerings are as no frills as the rest of the establishment. The other surprise was how much influence there was from Mexican cuisine. Hash browns were the goal, but chorizo and chilaquiles were the bonus. Another surprise? The hash browns weren't as crispy as I would have wanted. It's entirely plausible that I came on an off day, which happens. However everything else was on point as my chorizo skillet was absolutely dynamite, pancakes were fluffy and indulgent, breakfast tacos were outstanding, and my eggs were perfectly softly scrambled. Even the bacon and sausage patties were delicious, which is a tall order considering it's not likely made in house. Lastly, as someone who drinks cold water like it's a hobby (#1), I'm especially grateful for the massive 32 oz cup of water, which is perfect for someone who drinks like a camel. The staff is not the quickest but they are friendly. Spanish may go further with most and they're not the quickest when it comes to greeting folks or cleaning tables. The food is the star and consider paying in cash. ____________ (#1) I'm thirsty.
