I've been here once before and the line was long then as well. If you come on a weekend be prepared to wait at least 30min! Some say it's worth and some say it's not....i say it depends on what you order. Last time i was here i ordered the pork eggs Benedict. Those were amazing 10:10 would recommend. Would i wait in a 30-60min line for them....probably not. This time I came in and order the loco moco. 3:10. The rice was hard in certain areas, the gravy tasted similar to home town buffet gravy. The Portuguese sausages were okay. I've never tried them before, glad I did but I personally would prefer spam over these. The eggs were good. My main gripe is how do you mess up rice? Then if you add on the wait time. I definitely would not recommend this place. I also ordered and iced Mexican chocolate. It was okay. It's pretty much chocolate milk with some cinnamon and chocolate syrup with ice cubes. The chocolate milk consistency tasted like some used "abuelitas hot coco" and mixed it with milk. My friend took me here so it was my first time coming here and oh my god I love it. I love Hawaiian food period but damn . I had the loco moco and it has fried rice or you can get white but fried rice is better with spam for my meat and eggs on top with this gravy sauce. The wait was long but it's worth it . My friends and I came here late Monday morning, anticipating a long line, but it actually wasn't bad at all. I think there was only like 2 people ahead of us ordering. It's located in the corner of the plaza and there's plenty of parking in the lots. Stacks is set up in that you order upfront and then seat yourself and they'll bring your food to you. There are many outdoor seats, with huge umbrellas, but the seating inside is less and more for smaller groups (4 max, I believe). If you want to wash your hands after (the syrup is sticky), there's a bathroom inside (1 person occupancy, unisex) and it overwhelmingly smells like cherries. I ordered the Strawberry Banana French Toast ($9.99) and my friends ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes (regular stack (5) for $6.59) and the Eggs Florentine ($9.59). Service is fast, we got our food in about 10 minutes. Presentation 10/10, everything looked too beautiful to eat (excluding the buttermilk pancakes, which were plain, but like it's hard to elevate that sooo). The French toast was great; it wasn't too thick and I love how they give you a lot of fruit. My friend enjoyed his pancakes but the portions are really big so he had to to-go them. Went here with my coworkers. I was so excited to eat pancakes and I was NOT disappointed. Before I go into that though, it was pretty hard to make my decision because everything on their menu looks amazing. In fact I saw someone else's waffles and really wanted them for myself. This is the kind of place where you go to breakfast on Sunday morning with your kids because they have options for pretty much everyone. I like their variety and I want to try their other menu options as well. It's not just pancakes/ breakfast. They have Hawaiian foods including curry and spam so it's a nice option for if you want savory. As for my pancakes, I got the banana macadamia nut ones. I got a stack of three but it was waywayway tooooo much. I suggest sharing with one other person because I could not finish it. It's definitely worth at the price point cuz I had two meals with it hahah. But the pancakes themselves were very fluffy. The macadamia nut added a nice crunch to it and enhanced the flavor of the pancakes. I liked the bananas but it was the macadamia nuts that made it different. First meal of 2018 and it was EVERYTHING AND MORE! Seriously, I came here Jan 1 2018 and the line was out the door. The wait was roughly 30 min and the hanger definitely kicked in. You order first and then find a seat after. Seating inside is very small but luckily there is plenty of outside seating. 20 min and we finally got to the menu and let me tell you...everything looked so delicious!! It was a great mixture of general breakfast food + hawaiian fusion. The theme to me was savory vs sweet and of course I picked on from each side. Here is what I ordered and what is pictured: Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict: I love my eggs benedict and the pork was such a perfect pair. The hollandaise sauce was bomb dot come and omg the potatoes on the side were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was very surprised. Nutella Smores French Toast: Wow. This was very very sweet. The toast is very crunch and the marshmellow they add was so just..so yummy. Can't go wrong with nutella spread on everything. We were at a nearby soccer tournament and that's how we were able to try this place out. We were so glad that we did. We had their pancakes, a couple of breakfast burritos and their island chilaquiles. Everything was on point and I got a lot of kudos for finding this place. Quality ingredients that made quality food that was amazingly delicious. The pancakes were so good that I barely had a bite of them before they were gone. I've been here two times now and both were positive experiences. The line that usually extends out the door may be discouraging, but it moves fairly quickly (just don't go when you're hangry haha). The wait can be anywhere from 20 minutes to an 45 minutes depending on when you go. The first time around, I got their vegetarian omelette. It was massive, especially with the side of potatoes. Food was really good and was very filling. Also got to try their banana pancakes with mac sauce and it was extremely tasty - not super sweet at all. The second time around, I got to try one of their most popular items, Captain Crunch Mac Nut french toast. Let's just say I ate all 4 pieces without hesitation..hahah. Although I wish it had more fruit or even came with a side of something savory, but I think you could probably order that separately. My family and I stopped by Stacks Pancake House on the way to Irvine! There's plenty of outdoor seating which is perfect for social distancing. We ordered the Stacks Cheeseburger, Corned Beef Hash & Eggs Combo, Spicy Chicken & Bacon Waffle and Kalua Pork Benedict. The cheeseburger was decent, you can't really mess up cheeseburgers. But the mac salad it came with was super bland. The corned beef hash and eggs were a huge disappointment, as you can see in the picture the hash was very thin and spread out to make it look like a larger serving than it really was. It looked like some leftovers! The spicy chicken and bacon waffle was very greasy. My daughter loves cheese but that dish had too much of it. This review is based on my experience from 1-5-20 I have to preface this review by saying the owner responded to my previous review, asked me to write to him, then didn't respond after I messaged. I'm not sure why he wanted me to write to him, but it didn't matter since he never responded to my critique. I gave Stacks another shot this morning. The restaurant was packed, as usual, and the estimated time of takeout was longer than ever. I placed my order, and the cashier said it would be 30 minutes. An hour later, I finally got my food. This, to me, is incredibly unacceptable. I went to Denny's on Christmas, and they were able to get my food order to me in 15 minutes. The systems they have in place are not working. A takeout order for breakfast items cannot take that long. The other slight nuisance was the way the order was packed. They didn't "stack" my boxes well, and the food spilled in the bag. It was still fine to eat, but definitely added to my frustrations with this place. The food was fantastic. It's definitely the best breakfast in the area. My burrito was fresh, the french toast was ridiculously good, and the blueberry pancakes were on point. The portions were also a proper size this time. This was a huge improvement from last time. Overall, I would give this place 3 out of 5, and that is solely based on the food being so good. I've been to Plumeria by Stacks before since it's closer to my house but people have been telling me it's different. This is not my first time at stacks but, first time trying something other then the pancakes. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I had the spicy chorizo scramble. It was ok. I guess I am a bit use to the traditional way chorizo is made. Simply just chorizo and eggs. This one had onions, tomatoes, chorizo and eggs. The problem I believe lies with the tomatoes. The tomatoes just made the whole dish super watery (had to soak up the water with a napkin) and a bit tasteless. Not spicy at all. I also was hoping for a bit more chorizo as it was mostly just onions and tomatoes. It also came with side of potatoes which were tasty and a side of pancakes which I ended up eating rather than the scramble. All in all the pancakes kinda made up for the scramble. Service: quicker than expected however 3 stars. Girl at the register seemed like she didn't like her job and was just trying to quickly take our order as fast as she can, even though no one was in line behind us. However the girls delivering the food were very nice and persistent with picking up our plates. Parking: always a problem in Irvine. So unfortunately between Trader Joe's, Starbucks and smart and final...parking is horrible! And they are about to add Omomo Tea Shoppe nextdoor yikes! Parking is about to get even worse. Good friend and family company over, as always, brunch. Today was extra cozy as we watched the rain coming down through their huge windows. I'll admit, I arrived hangry bc I hadn't eaten anything yet and it was in the afternoon and it was packed but once a table was available and we sat down, all was well. You need to go up to the register to order. I just had everyone text me their orders so that it was easier and order for everyone. You get a number and they bring your food to the table. Besides the natural lighting, there's not too much to expand on as far as the ambience but the food is incredible and so is the service. Always enjoy coming here! The earlier you get here the less you wait in line. The line can get long! I've waited for about 40 mins at the most. Food service is rather fast and they give you drinks right away. There's inside and outside seating. Getting a table inside is almost impossible though! I've been coming here for a while and I can hand count the times we've sat inside. Outside is not bad and much quieter than inside so we don't mind it. Food is always on point!! We love this place! I've tried an item from every category throughout the years and it never disappoints. My favorite is an omelette or a scramble since we usually come here after working out. At first I was thoroughly intimidated by the long line (about 45 minutes around noon on a Sunday), but there was plenty of shaded seating outside to sit at after we ordered food. For the most part, we really enjoyed the food. The French Toast was fluffy and perfectly sweet. The Avocado omelet was LOADED with avocado and fillings. The pancakes were also hot and fluffy, and oh so photogenic. Loved the corned beef hash too! It was nice and salty, the perfect compliment to all the other sweet foods we had. Our only issue was that every single plate we ordered came out at different times. We got our French Toast first pretty quickly. We were going to wait for everyone to get their food before eating, but it soon became clear this wasn't going to happen. Our next plate, the side of pancakes, came out 20 minutes later. Our first entrée, the omelet, came 15 minutes after the pancakes, and the last entrée, the corned beef with eggs plate, came 10 minutes after the omelet.
