Our waitress couldn't have been lovelier. Service was very good even though they were busy. Food was great! Some of the best hollandaise sauce I've had. The menu is also much more unique than your standard breakfast fair. Some of their scramble combos blew my mind. Lots of Benedict options to choose from, too! For the price, I expected a little more in both the food and overall experience. BUT...the Salt Yard iced latte was friggin amazing. Easily the highlight and I would absolutely come back for that. That being said, I made plans to check it out. Marcy's is a small corner diner, located just off Congress Street near the Portland Museum of Art. It wasn't crowded when I arrived, and immediately got a seat at the counter. The interior is super casual - more casual than an average diner, but is also very welcoming. I can see this place getting crowded/a wait during peak times as there are only a few tables in addition to the counter. The diner is only open for breakfast and lunch, 5 days per week. The menu has several breakfast staples as well as some more creative dishes they concocted. I didn't want to go off the beaten path, so I focused on their breakfast combos which had a mixture of eggs and carbs. I decided on their Number 6 which contained choice eggs (I got scrambled), has browns, choice of breakfast meat (I got sausage), and choice of flavored pancakes (I got blueberry). The breakfast was delicious - the portions are large and I could tell they use quality ingredients. There isn't much more I can say outside of the fact that this was a solid meal with delicious food - it was really everything you want out of a diner breakfast. Service was also great - everyone was friendly and chill; I could tell they get along well and that they put a lot of love into this place. Overall, Marcy's Diner is a yes - there is nothing flashy here, but I had a delicious meal in a friendly, casual environment. I wouldn't hesitate to return the next time I'm in Portland.

The corned beef hash here is excellent - that I do have to acknowledge. I was a bit underwhelmed by the fried green tomatoes though. The tomatoes were just okay, but the excessive hollandaise sauce really just made the whole dish waaay too heavy. It was also just messy. Service was slow & our waitress tended to disappear for long periods of time. Coffee & water refills both took a long time. Parking here is difficult but not impossible. Most spots are only for an hour or so.

Of note: the Pastrami sandwich my husband ordered was AMAZING. One of the top ones he's had and he orders them everywhere. The pastrami was hot and fresh and the rye was perfectly toasted. My 2-year old loved it. Ha! They have a nice menu of food items inside - with sandwiches, specials, and lunch/dinner options it looked like. Fantastic meal at Stacks. The service was great. We were greeted promptly on arrival and our server was very knowledgeable, sweet, and attentive. Very trendy interior and the food matches with it. Food arrives quickly and there's an array of options to choose from. Pancakes are definitely the go to and they have some funky options when it come to those delicious griddle cakes. Would recommend for large groups or a quick meal before hitting downtown. read more

We considered sending the burnt food back but didn't want to wait another 40 minutes to have it replaced. And the "no whining" sign was not encouraging. So we risked a bad experience and paid a terrible price by eating slivers of a meal that should never have been allowed to leave the restaurant kitchen. Two stars is very generous on our part.
