I'm a sucker for a good dive. Stadium Inn has been in business for the better half of a century. Right off the DU campus, I'd assume this is a hot spot for the college crowd. We came here on a Friday night after dinner nearby. The signage alone is enough to draw you in. One thing I love about these old buildings is that you have no idea what's on the inside just based on its appearance. As we walked in, I made an audible sigh of relief. Yep, this is just what I wanted. This is one of the divier dives I've frequented in Denver. One bar with the room divided into two sections. Lots of booths, TV's, random pictures and signs on the walls, two pool tables and one bartender serving about 20 people on a Friday night. Beer and a shot for $5? Say no more. Montucky and Evan Williams was my potion for the evening. Inflation is nowhere to be found in the little abyss of Stadium Inn. You're not ordering a craft cocktail by any means, but you don't miss it here. They have some picnic tables outside near the smokers corner, so if the weather obliges park your keister on the patio. Like any dive, the bathrooms have seen better days. There's essentially a trough in the men's room. I was gonna let you figure it out for yourself. But whatever, there's your spoiler alert. The place itself was great and had good energy, and every other worker treated me with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, Rich was the only reason I'm leaving a low rating. His behavior was completely inappropriate and disrespectful, and he made me feel belittled during my visit. Because of this interaction with the manager, Rich, I unfortunately will not be returning. It's disappointing because the rest of the staff created a positive environment, but his behavior undermined that. I would like to contact higher management about this experience, as behavior like this can create problems not only for customers but also for the workplace environment. It doesn't promote a sense of belonging or inclusivity. I will be submitting additional reports to ensure this issue is addressed. read more

I love Stadium Inn! My favorite night to go, and I'm sure many DU students would agree, is on Tuesdays when they have $2 beer, well drinks, and pickle shots. The bouncers and bartenders are extremley kind, making it a welcoming atmosphere the minute you walk in the door. I haven't had a chance to try the food here yet, but the drinks keep me coming back every week. Plus, it's a fun night out with friends especially if you are into pool or darts. I also recommend bringing a deck of cards to fully embrace the dive bar scene. read more

This bar is great, all the bartenders are so kind and the bouncer, Doug is a talented magician. $2 Tuesdays is a steal and I always have a great time at this bar. They have pizza that I've never tried, doesn't seem to be their specialty. Five stars for vibes. Great spot in close proximity to Denver University. Plenty of neighborhood parking. Walkable. If I lived closer this would be my regular spot in a heartbeat. Most all of the reviews mention poor service but on my most recent visit we were treated quickly, fairly, and most importantly friendly. (Weird wording but you get my gist.) Good amount of seating inside from tables to booths. They also have about ten seats at the bar if that's more your style/vibe. This spot doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a new bar but it's a solid no frills vibe. Six to nine beers on tap. The usual liquor offerings. A handful of classic popular canned beers. Pool. Buck Hunter arcade setup. No food apart from Rocky Mountain Pizza Company but Chipotle, Next Level Burger, and Birdcall are within walking distance. The frozen pizzas do cook quickly and are very tasty considering what they are though so don't feel the need to leave for a bite! They have a smoking area outside and a small patio with three or four picnic tables too! Small umbrellas for shade and people watching. Again no major frills but this is a great spot to duck in mid day for a drink at the bar. You can get a beer and a shot for $5 which is awesome. Matchbox does three beers and three specific shots for $7 but with inflation these days $5 is AMAZING value. Will be back! read more

The vibes are decent but the bartenders took way too long to serve us some simple drinks. They weren't even busy... Upon leaving the place the lady told me "the guys work for a living you should tip them". I only tip for good service. I came by to grab my credit card that I left at the bar here today. I signed my $9 receipt and the lady at the bar said I could leave a cash tip and unfortunately did not have cash on me. As I walked out the bar some man in his late 50s yells at me for not leaving a tip and continued to make other rude comments. Like "Go to school and get an education" I have my bachelor's degree and my brokers license in Real Estate. I came here not too long ago and bought rounds of drinks for a group of people, bought the bartender shots (she gave me my credit card back today, & probably doesn't ever me. As she stared at me with a resting bitch face) and I tipped above and beyond. I always tip 25%. So if your looking for a fun friendly bar, this is not the place! read more

Can I give this place 0 stars ? I have never been more offended walking in a bar on my life. We walked in and there was one party in the corner of 5 and 2 people playing pool , nobody at the bar or in the other 5-6 tables there were, so we took a seat at an empty booth a fair distance away from everyone . No employees in site . After about 5 minutes an employee walked out of the bathroom and gave me the dirtiest look I've ever gotten and pointed at me and my friend and literally said and I quote " ummm who are you guys ... where did you come from. " we looked confused and said sorry what do you mean ? He says "did you not see the sign at the door saying please wait here to be seated " I started saying no I'm so sorry and he said "uhhh yeah I could tell. " I stood up and said well maybe if there was an employee somewhere around I would've known. And he fired back at me saying well that's why we have a fucking sign asshole. At this point I asked for a manager or the owners number. He said I'm the manager... and I'm calling the cops on you get out. He then pulled out his phone and acted as if he was calling the cops so I walked out. I had my friends go in 5 minutes later and ask for his name they were both underage but he let them sit anyways. It's cheap so shut up and drink. $2 mixed drinks and beer. This is a dive so dive in or get out. If you want to complain, purchase the hitching rights by going to Rhino district, Lodo, or the Highlands and buy pricey cocktails or the hipster beer hall next door. Nice enough for me - sports on several TVs, pool tables, people are down to earth. No frills or gimmicks. Juke box playing George Thoroughgood Bad to the Bone, ACDC, Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond, Paul Simon... yeah, it's that place. If you hate this place, you're pretentious. This is one of the first bars I've made it out to here in Denver. It's probably the closest bar to where I live, so it has a nice convenience factor. But my guess of it being a dive bar from the outside was confirmed once I made it inside. It really felt small. The pool tables are great for during the day I'm sure, but once 11:30/midnight hit, it became a nuisance. Last thing I want while I'm enjoying my drink is to be poked with a cue stick or get told to move so someone can shoot. No thanks. There was plenty of seating for the size of the bar. The crowd was a mix between college aged students and middle aged men and some couples. It was an odd mix. But my friend told me that this was the 'summer crowd' and in the school year it is packed with just college kids. The drink specials were great there. Very affordable to drink at the Stadium! This would make a great location to start your night - possibly end it too. I just wish it didn't feel to crowded in there. But, it's definitely a popular spot among the locals! read more

USUALLY, the stad is a great bar. I love to come here and play pool and get in on some quality, college priced drinking. This place is my go-to for a good time and often a night starter. HOWEVER, I received the worst service from one of the bar tenders. Wish I had gotten her name. She was wearing a bright pink beanie, shorter blond hair, and the worst attitude I've ever seen from a bar tender. Upon arriving, she immediately came up to us and with a tremendous amount of attitude and said, "Order now, Go." It immediately caught me and my friends off guard and seconds later she shook her head and waved a hand at us as she walked away. The bar wasn't even busy yet. Strike one. As my friend paid, in cash, she returned with the change and proceeded to wait and pressure upon him to tip. Strike two. Finally, I asked for my card back, she proceeded to give me a dumb look. I figured she didn't hear me so I said "my card". She said. "I know..how can I even help you if I don't know your name", with enough attitude to scare most away. Most bar tenders can put a face to a card, but the worst part is she doesn't seem to know how basic conversation works. "hey can I get my card" "Sure what's your name" "it is so-n-so". Strike three and believe me there was more. I will return, in hope that she wont be there. But I must say, she ruined the vibe of the bar from the beginning. read more

This is one of those places that seems to grow on you. It's definitely a dive bar and there are a lot of regulars here. There's always plenty of seating and the music isn't overly loud which I really like. It can get crowded especially on weekends but I never feel overwhelmed by the crowd. The drinks are actually pretty cheap and I usually get a Evan's and coke for $2. They do have a small free parking lot. They only have 1 bathroom stall for women which can get a little line but usually not too bad. There are two pool tables and a few arcade games. Overall, it's a cool little bar! read more

So I talk shit about the stadium sometimes...but i keep going back. It was my dive bar of choice when I lived in the neighborhood, and it is conveniently located near Anthony's pizza. If it's not that crowded, order a pizza and bring it over during happy hour, and enjoy your meal with a couple of $5.50 pitchers of cheap beer...refreshing. They also have a fuzzball table, pool, and a new jukebox (the old one was exponentially better). Did I mention eternal $2 beam and cokes??? I would say stay away on Thursday - Saturday nights, as well as around the time DU students are taking midterms/finals, (yes it becomes crowded when increased studying is required). I don't like this bar. Didn't like it after the first time but decided to be nice and give it another try with a better group of friends. Hated it even more the second time. Yeah the drink specials are very cheap, but you'll only get them at the expense of dealing with long waits, a generally retarded clientele, and a lack of places to sit/stand/breathe without being knocked into by a pool cue, having your feet stepped on, or beer spilled on you. The staff is also slow and unpleasant, but who can really blame them? They have to orchestrate that massive shit show nearly every night and deal with the worst sort of drunken, slutty children and other assorted weirdos. There are other bars right near DU with way better atmospheres that one can go to. The $10 card minimum is also a pain in the ass. read more
