We were excited to try Staks Pancake Kitchen and were happy to get seated immediately upon arrival. Unfortunately, the food was just not good. My eggs, hash browns, and bacon arrived cold. After sending them back, I received warmer food but the hash browns had a rubbery texture that makes me think they might have just thrown it in the microwave. The other food at the table also fell short - two other egg breakfasts were ordered with the same issue, the pancakes were so dry they were basically inedible, and coffee tasted burnt. I like to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was an off day but looking at many similar comments on Yelp has me confident this might be the norm. They came out to our table and said they were out of what we ordered and would be substituting an item. It was our first visit to Staks early on gameday and we had a great first visit. Food was excellent, a little on the large plate size so you will not leave hungry. I ordered pickup online (keep in mind this was my first time here) when I went in I asked where the "to-go" orders were, the employee acted like it was the dumbest question. Then I stood and waited for my order and the employee asked me "are you lost?" And laughed at me. My order had not been prepared yet and she was laughing at me because I was apparently in the wrong spot. I am not one to usually leave reviews, but I feel the staff should be aware of how disorganized the place seems. First off we got our table number relatively quick only waiting 15 minutes. Then we got to stand in another line for 30 minutes. We ordered at 12:07 and was shown to our seat. Our party was only 2 so we sat at a communal table. This was not a big deal, but they should ask if you would like to wait longer for a private table. My fiancé's food came out at 12:35 or so, so not a super long wait for hers, but my food did not come out until 12:50 or so. Of course I told her to go ahead and eat while it's hot. When I go out to eat with someone, I usually like to eat with them. I got my food and she has 2-3 bites left. I ordered the power breakfast off the ~healthy~ part of the menu. It was about 14 dollars and was maybe worth 7. It was two egg whites, a piece of sausage, two slivers of avocado, and two small slices of tomato. My avocado was brown and bruised. The food itself was good but was a portion for a child. For my side I ordered a side pancake, and it came out cold. My fiancé's food was pretty good actually and came out hot. I noticed everyone got their food out of order as the man next to me got his French toast 15 minutes before his companion's food came out. Another table of 8 near by had just one person that had food for what seemed 15 minutes or so. Then two had food and then 3. But the gap was pretty significant between the members of the party getting their food. I understand kitchens can back up but food should at least try to come out around the same time... To sum I gave 2 stars because my fiancé's food was good and I would get it again, but it is not worth the wait if busy. It seemed so disorganized. This place is very disorganized and plenty of bad business decisions were made to get to this point. First, you wait in a line to get a table (and they didn't remember who came in first). Second, when you were called, you had to wait in another line to order your food. Then you're met with another long wait until your food is brought out. Waiting isn't an issue, but you need value to make the wait worth it and we didn't receive any. For our personal experience, we had a table by the ordering/refill counter so I watched food being raked off plates into the trash and the plates banging around were very loud. Customers had to get up to get their own refills, to go boxes, etc. this made for chaotic environment of people always (almost) bumping into each other and employees bring out food going around corners and up to get refills. My husband ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I've never met a biscuit and gravy dish that I didn't like until today. The biscuits seemed to be stale and the sawmill gravy was not a normal gravy- spicier for a normal biscuit and gravy dish and not what I would expect. My husbands pancakes weren't cooked all the way through and were impossible to finish. On top of it all, you're asked to tip before you receive any form of service, which seems to be the norm now... we tip very well but it feels like a stick up when we are asked to tip without knowing the quality of service we will be receiving. We were looking for another breakfast restaurant so we are sad to say we won't be back unless we hear that some big changes have been made. read more

My wife and I had breakfast 1/27. Our first visit. Greeted as we entered by a staff member that explained the system and provided menus for our review to expedite the ordering process. She also assigned us to a table. Very efficient system. Meals were delivered to our table in a reasonable time. My wife had a make your own omelette which was excellent. I had the two egg breakfast.
