I've been a customer of Stalwart for just under two years now and my experiences with them are at a point that I can safely say that as long as I remain within their service area, they can count on my patronage. Since moving to this house more than 4 years ago, I've been plagued with non-stop issues with my air conditioning. I originally just utilized whatever company my home warranty would contract to fix my problems or to come out for maintenance. However, whenever the A/C would die in the middle of summer, those same companies would not send anyone out, claiming they were booked for more than a week and that I would have to wait without A/C in Houston summer until then. Those companies also would look at my system, call it fixed, and leave without an explanation or a guarantee. During this time, there was one period it broke down every week after hours on Fridays as if on schedule. In desperation and frustration after the poor experiences I've had with previous companies, I managed to find Stalwart A/C and Heating. They were the only ones that picked up *and* were willing to send someone (Michael) during that busy time. He promptly diagnosed, explained in a level I could understand, and fixed the issue. He also gave me a price I could not refuse (for the cost of a home warranty contract request for one visit, Stalwart waived the fee for that particular fix and would cover not one, but two maintenance visits for the year). Occasionally during seasonal maintenance, I'd get Geoff, who also had the same expertise and bedside manner as Michael, which helped further convince me that I'd settled with the right company for my HVAC needs. Most recently, a Trane that we installed broke under warranty, but it was a Saturday at 5 pm and the parts necessary to fix it weren't available until Monday. Raymond, who took my case after hours, was able to troubleshoot and assess the situation professionally and explain the situation to me. If there was anything that I asked regarding what was covered, what isn't covered, etc. that he did not know, he made sure to get the answer from someone who knew promptly. Additionally, he went above and beyond of his own volition to ensure that I, a customer that he met for the first time, would get some level of comfort until the unit could be fixed. Walter, who was assigned to finish the fixes on Monday, drove all across the Houston area to obtain the one part necessary for the final repairs. Isabel made sure to call and text to keep me updated on any delays or developments on the scheduled appointment. Any time someone entered my home, they came prepared with shoe coverings and they made sure to clean up any mess or debris that may have come from their work. Any time I had questions about something I read that I was curious about installing, they were able to answer my questions and also give me a plain assessment instead of giving me false promises for a quick buck. In all instances with each point of contact I've had with Stalwart, I have been met with professionalism, transparency, friendliness, care, accountability, and a depth of knowledge that show me that they aren't like those HVAC companies bought by private equity firms who just want a return on their monetary investment. I have continued to work with Stalwart since my first experience was so good and recently had an issue with a couple of rooms being 8 to 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the structure and the coil freezing up. Michael worked some long hours testing EVERYTHING and finally found the problem. Stalwart deployed Oscar's team to resolve what turned out to be a plenum / duct placement and scale issue and now the room is cooling very well. We had a leak from our drain pan that partially flooded our closet. We called after hours on a Saturday night and Walter was at our house in less than an hour. He quickly identified and fixed the problem. Took videos to show us and explain everything that was wrong. Charged a very reasonable fee, especially considering it was a Saturday night. These guys are fantastic and get the job done right. They have better prices and customer service than the bigger guys in the area and I always use Stalwart for all my AC needs. I had a coil go out last year, and they were able to claim the warranty 18 days before it was up. I would of never know if it wasn't for them. I had a power surge yesterday blow both thermostats, fueses and switches and they were able to come out while I was at work to get all issues fixed. I trust them in my house while I was at work. Thats the kind of trust and service you can expect from these guys. I will be working with Stalwart Mechanical Services for all of my heating and AC needs in the future. I called Stalwart on a Sunday to schedule some AC work and they scheduled for the following day, Monday. This surprised me since Houston was only 1 week into the Winter Storm Uri recovery and securing services was very difficult. The day of the appointment, Stalwart sent a confirmation and Walter called 15 minutes prior to his arrival. We had taken some solid damage from Uri and I was more than a little nervous what having my upstairs AC was going to cost but since the downstairs was unlivable, I was going to have to bite the bullet. Walter was amazing. He explained every step, clearly discussed the issue he had found, quoted me an incredibly fair price and repaired it immediately. To say I was happy is an understatement. I have had one of my worst experiences with the service organization. They charge me $837 in labor for a $130 part. I called and spoke to Mike, the manager, and told him that it is not right for them to overcharge me by $837, just to remove an old circuitboard and screw in the new board. He assured me that he would do something about it, but nothing was done. I subsequently called and spoke to Isabel, the receptionist and asked to speak to the owner, that was last Friday, she promised me that she would have the owner call me, today is Wednesday and he hasn't called me back. I called back several times, but they don't answer my call when they see my number. These same people when they wondered my business would see a missed call from me and call me right back, a know when to see a call for me they don't answer. In fact when I called this morning, they picked up the phone and realize it was from me and hung up. This is one of the worst experiences I've had with any organization. My experience in one word: outstanding. The issue: my new Nest thermostat was showing E195 error. I looked through all the websites, tried a few things, then looked up Yelp for help. Yelp sent my request (last evening) to a half dozen potential service providers. The response: This morning Stalwart sent me a message, promising same day service AND the cheapest cost AND a contact number to talk to them directly. What I did: I called them, and the service guy worked through the problem with me on the phone, then suggested the solution (AT NO COST OVER THE PHONE, basically putting themselves out of a job) since it was a simple fix (just strip a wire end and hook it up). Unfortunately, I messed up even that (I blame my tools :-) ). I called him back, and they responded promptly, and turned up in a couple of hours (even though it was Valentine's day). How it ended: He was very courteous, wore a mask, did exactly what he had advised on the phone, and tested the Nest to my satisfaction. Did not charge extra, offered a protection plan but was not pushy, and now I have a working thermostat for about half of what the 'Nest PRO' guys were charging. Summary: highly recommend. read more

Stalwart went above and beyond. I was looking to replace the ancient A/C system in my house, and I got 3 different quotes, including Stalwart. Stalwart's quote was comparable to the other 2, considering SEER rating and brands, but Stalwart offered to install completely new ducting as part of the quote. That was a deal too good to pass up, as I knew the old ducting was going to have to be replaced eventually anyway. They completed the install in 1 day while my wife and I were at work. Mike and Walter were very professional and friendly. I had a minor issue with louder than usual noise in a couple of our vents, so I contacted Stalwart to see if they could help. They came right out and worked with me to adjust the system to eliminate the unwanted noise. I will definitely recommend them to anyone in the future. read more

My husband was impressed with the hard work and great job that Walter did. We have always had a hard time with A/C- Heater repairs because there's hardly any honest, hard working techs that take pride in their job. Called Stalwart today at 11:20am. Ato was at the house by noon. Capacitor exploded and killed the evaporator outside. Also fried the transformer at the main circuit board in the attic. Ato replaced all and rewired the evaporator. Finished before 1:30pm. Great service at a great price! I won't hesitate to call them for additional repairs when needed. I was not impressed. I contacted Stalwart for diagnostics on my A/C which was no longer cooling. Scheduling was fine and the serviceman/owner showed up promptly. He was courteous, but ultimately provided me with ONE option--completely replacing my A/C. My system is now 13 years old, so that is not too crazy, but he only provided one option, which was a 3.5 ton Trane, which was a bit pricey. After telling him it didn't really work for my budget, he offered financing, which I am not too keen on. Later on, I found another service that could also replace the unit but used a different brand that is owned by the same company. It saved me a good deal. It is a bit disappointing that Stalwart would not bother with lower priced options--especially since American Standard and Trane are virtually the same thing. Maybe they have an exclusive deal with Trane, but for me, it was worth it to just shop around. read more

On our appointment day, Walter called to say he was available earlier than expected, a pleasant surprise! After inspecting both units, one was still in good shape, the bottom floor had a dying coil. Walter checked to see if the coil was under warranty (it was in year 7 of a 5-year warranty, darn it). He clearly explained our options and I elected to replace the coil with a 10-year warranty. These people helped us install an AC as ours broke on our way out the door to a family emergency in another state. Even though we weren't home they helped us over the phone and everything was finished when we came back. They even worked on a Saturday because we had a small infant whom we wanted to keep out of the heat. They were the third ac company we have used and by far the best.
