Seems now they stopped serving breakfast. I picked up a half wheat bread. That was excellent. Bialys was flavorful. Butter bread was ok. I got a potato salad, but didn't like it at all. Taste was off. Overall I will return only to get more bread.

Tried them at a festival. The line was so long. They didn't hand out tickets, and people that went after me and paid totally cut and took sandwiches first before their turn. My only feedback going forward is get cheap numbers or tickets to make people be nice and wait their turn in line so there doesn't end up being a fistfight over a brisket sandwich. Lol But once I got the sandwich, WOW. I had their french onion braised brisket. Most tender and best flavored brisket I had ever had. The portion size was so generous you could've totally split this with someone else. I also had to eat part of it with a fork, so it's not some thing you can pick up with your hand but it is so delicious and worth it. Pretty good value also for 14 bucks. It was worth the wait.

This is a cool place! I just picked up a sandwich to go but there is a great dining area. I love the seating at the old school counter table. I ordered the BLT. There are lots of good looking sandwiches on the menu. It took about 15 minutes for them to make it. The BLT was great! I'm picky when it comes to bacon but I was impressed. The bacon was well cooked and tasty. They paired the sandwich with a pickle and amazing sea salt kettle chips. Overall a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great BLTs. They also have a parking lot next door which makes it easy. I will be back!

This spot was a great breakfast experience! I was so pleasantly surprised with my first impression! Staff was super friendly and helpful with menu items. I got nostalgic seeing the creamed pickled herring and red beets . My great grandma was Czechoslovakian and those memories came back with the quickness seeing some of their deli items. I will definitely be back!!!

Matt the awesome bartender at Fairchild gave us a recommendation to go here for hungover "brunch" while we were in town for the weekend. He did great - this was DELICIOUS. And geez, it smells good in here too. Such a satisfying sandwich and thick cut chips.

We've been trying to stop back at Stalzy's for a few years now, we used to live in the neighborhood and come by all the time. They closed due to an unfortunate fire and then the pandemic hit. We finally made it back today for brunch. If this place isn't at the top of your brunch spots to visit, you need to add it to your list. Greeted by friendly staff members, you place your order at the counter and seat yourself. There are plenty of brunch and lunch options here, we had the brisket hash and Brooklyn breakfast sandwich, and two bloodies of course! The sandwich was hot, pastrami flavorful, and the egg runny, just how you want on a breakfast sand. Every sandwich here hits the mark with excellent baked bread and perfectly sliced deli meats. Stalzy's has new decor, but has the same classics that never fail to satisfy. We can wait to come back again, see you soon Stalzy's!

Worst takeout experience so far, and we have been doing a lot of takeout over the last year. In all honesty, this is the closest I have ever been to giving a one star review. They get two stars because I could tell that the staff felt really bad for how the whole process went. We ordered a turkey pastrami reuben for pickup on St. Patrick's Day. Now this was probably a mistake as they were experiencing very large numbers of orders, however this was not made known through their order system online. I scheduled my order for pickup at 5:05pm and when I arrived and called, they said that they were running a little behind. That wasn't a problem and I asked how long they thought the wait would be. I was told 30 minutes, so I said I would go pick up something else and come back. When I came back, I called again and told them where my car was parked and they said that they would bring the order out. So I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I went into the deli to ask what was going on with my order. The whole street was also full of cars and their was a line outside the deli that went down the block. When I went inside my order seemed to be ready and sitting on the table, but no one had brought it out to me. I finally got my food at 6:40pm when my pickup time was 5:05pm. This seems like a little too long for just a sandwich and chips. As for the reuben itself, they get points for the amount of turkey pastrami that was on the sandwich and the meat itself was actually pretty good. However, overall the sandwich was quite greasy and wet. I understand the idea was to give a lot of meat, but the sandwich didn't balance flavors well. The bread just didn't seem to hold up to the moisture of the sandwich and so it was all kind of mushy texture, which I feel bad saying because I had high hopes. This combined with the price of the sandwich, $13 for the sandwich and some chips, didn't make this the most satisfying takeout experience. I really, really was wishing that the sandwich would have been better after the amount of time it took to get it, but who knows how long it was sitting on the table. I hope to give them another chance, but this was just a really bad experience.

I was downright…read moregiddy eating this pastrami sandwich (which was beautiful, too, and sadly I did not snap a picture because I was too excited to eat it! It did not disappoint). Love this no-frills deli with the focus on what's important- amazing bread in perfectly balanced sandwich (and yes, for me that means not a TON of meat but it was satisfying and not meat-heavy. I thought the ratio of bread/cheese/meat was just right). Gino's also has a lot of pasta salad options (I've heard good things about both the Cajun chicken pasta salad and the pesto chicken salad but literally just made two pasta salads for this weekend so I'll have to try those next time). They also have ingredients for pizza in the fridge and pre-made lasagnas, pizzas, and desserts (Tiramisu!!!). It also sounds like they sometimes sell cannoli fresh, made-to-order. Great hidden gem, definitely check it out. I will say, I also got the Italian sub and I was less impressed with the meat/bread/cheese ratio (not enough meat, too much cheese) but that pestrami was chef's kiss. Also we saw a worker on break when we arrived and he was eating the meatball sub-looked incredible but we didn't try it this time (we were eating on the go and that can be tricky with meatballs!)

They have a pickup counter that's separate from the regular ordering area, so it was very easy to pick up our order without having to wait in the main line. I got a toasted Calabrian chili mozzarella parmesan bagel with honey tart cherry cream cheese. It was the perfectttt combination of sweet and savory. Bagel was soft on the inside, with a good amount of Calabrian chili and cheese. There was a ton of cream cheese, which had a nice whipped texture and tart cherry flavor without tasting artificial. I like a lot of cream cheese on my bagels so this was perfect for me. My friend got the Super Tuscan with a pumpernickel bagel. She liked the toppings but said the bagel was only ok / not as flavorful as other pumpernickel bagels she's had. There was seating inside but the interior of the place is fairly small. We were able to eat comfortably since it wasn't too crowded, but I'd still order ahead next time just in case. Definitely recommend going for the honey tart cherry cream cheese at least, since I haven't seen it elsewhere.

Bagel: 4.0 Toppings etc: -0.7…read morePrice: -0.8 Wait: -0.8 Founder's story: 0.5 Total Score: 2.2 I've seen alot of hype about this place on social media so randomly decided to give it a try while in Madison. The whole experience reminds me of the 1980s movie "The Experts" (the flick where John Travolta met his late wife). Basically this cold war era movie has a couple of dudes trying to run clubs in NYC get kidnaped by the KGB and sent to Russia where they have a whole town of KGB agents living like Americans - but it wasn't quite right..it was like 30 years earlier in a random town in the Midwest (much like Madison, Wisconsin). That's the best way to describe it. Some of the vibe was there, but there was just something off about it. First thing that was a shock - the price! egg & cheese bagel: $9.00 . For reference, Bagel Boss on Long Island is just over $5.00. I get it - bagels are a scarcity in Madison Wisconsin (as is any decent food, but that's a different conversation) while it's a commodity in NYC metro area. I asked the woman why the sign for the menu shows $8.75 and she said they raised the prices. Well, any self-respecting yankee knows a bagel place should either have: 1) prices in different colors written on a black board, or 2) prices with the numbers and letters that can be changed on a board. Next, I was baffled by how long it took and how long i had to wait for bagels. That doesn't fly on the east coast. Look, I get alot of the university is kids from NYC metro area so you have to cater to them so a bagel shop is important. As for the bagels - looked okay at first, but the egg and cheese was really weird...it was mostly white with like an overcooked almost hard boiled yolk and i think they butter the bagels beforehand. Secondly for a scallion cream cheese bagel it showed the true shortcoming of the bagel where the exterior had a good crunch but the interior wasnt chewy it was too hard so when you try to separate the bagel it kinda of breaks. the taste isn't quite right. Anyway they deserve credit since the founder mentions Hot Bagels in Fairlawn in his story and met with Jaques Pepin who is awesome. I'll probably pass on returning as I kinda really dig Bagels Forever in Madison.

They do have some seating but the vibe feels like this is more of a carryout place (which I did). They have not only hot items but also pre-packaged grab and go items located next to where you order. Ordering is easy-make your selection and pay in the front. I ordered a 1/2 pound of pork belly and a link of sausage. I liked that both were fresh and presented right in front of you. From an execution/taste perspective, both were good (but not great). The sausage was on the greasy side and lacked the punch of lemongrass and other seasonings that are the mark of a good hmong sausage. The pork belly was also good but lacked the true deep crunch and crispiness that the top layer should have. Definitely would recommend it as it's hard to find such items. I will also be sure to try their pho to see how it stacks up.
