I was in the Burlington area on a food run, something I do from time to time, not as often as I used to, not as often as I like. While this was my first visit to this location, I've eaten BBQ, Broasted Chicken, and seafood at Hursey's since the mid-60's, mostly at the original S. Church Street location. On this visit we ordered a number of items, planning to eat a bit of everything and taking the rest home. We ordered Broasted Chicken, Chopped BBQ, and seafood combination. As always the food was excellent, the service was a little off, and the ambiance was rather sterile. I missed the cozy, old school feel of the original location. Good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, I'll make this run again, but I'll head further down S. Church. read more

I reserve 1 stars for businesses with integrity problems so these folks get 2. I've had bbq from over 100 places in my life and this one was the worst food I've tasted. Zero smoke flavor. Dry meat. Overcooked fried chicken. There are too many decent bbq places in North Carolina to eat bad BBQ. read more

This was our first time outside of the main location. The lobby and drive thru stated busy and the food came out quickly. Everything was good except the fries were too salty and inedible. We each at one and spit it out it was so salty. The ribs were delicious and plentiful. It was so much that we shared a rack and left some to take home. Ample seating and disabled parking. Easy to maneuver outside. Order at the front and they deliver your order to your seat. They only use disposable silverware and plates so it's tough to cut ribs and keep them on the plate without making a mess. I would change that for rib orders. It was very messy and the silverware wasn't strong enough to do the job. Everything else was good and better than our last experience at the main location. read more

Have never been before. My hubby and I stopped in on a whim cause we were in the area. It was a Thursday ant 1:00. It wasn't very slammed but there were a few of people dinning in. We both got a platters. Hubby upgraded one of his sides to onion rings. I upgraded to sweet tator fries. We waited an extremely long time for our food to arrive. We thought maybe they were having to make a fresh batch and rings and fries for us. When we finally got our food nothing was super hot. Everything was lukewarm. My hubby's platter came with 1 fried chicken thigh (which was lukewarm and a little dry). The skin was crispy though. Hush puppy balls were the best thing on the platter. The chopped bbq had good flavor - just wish it had been warmer. I'd give this meal a 4 out of 10. The tile floors were sticky. The ambiance was old school bbq joint feel (it's been around for 70 years!). Might try it any if we are in the area - and will try something different and hope the food is warmer. My mom and I stopped in here after an evening of shopping. We were famished and this was a great choice. I ordered a family meal to take home to feed my husband and kids and my mom got a bbq plate. Everything was ready quickly even with my larger order. The food was delicious. Chicken was fried and seasoned perfectly and bbq and fixings were great. I wasn't a major fan of the Mac n cheese but my daughter was. The staff was super friendly and helpful. As we were walking across the parking lot someone allowed us to cross and as they passed they thanked us for our patronage. We didn't eat in but the space is nice, clean and cozy. Decorated nicely for the holidays during our visit. We'll definitely be back. read more

The customer service is the worse EVER. I had an issue with my order. I called and they said, "we'll compensate you on your next visit." The food is always so good. The large bbq plate is literally the best thing on the menu. The service is always very good. They are so polite and helpful. I was all for Hersey's to open here. I was also pushing for their breakfast as I have been a regular at their Mebane location for breakfast. After today I think I'm going to give it a break for awhile. This is what I was served for 4.15 a dry small well done tenderloin biscuit. Just imagine the cook staff sending this out and considering it perfectly acceptable. Take your business elsewhere as they need time to re group and figure out their breakfast game. read more

All around "meh" experience. The staff was nice enough, but when you paid for your order the card reader asked for a tip, which is the latest national scam resulting in "tipflation" because owners don't want to pay their employees a living wage. The person only took our order, but my wife, who is overly generous went ahead since she was paying. Other than bring the order to the table, everything else is self-service. So now to the meal. We both had basically the same breakfast order - pork tenderloin, eggs, and a side. I had the sausage gravy since I was getting a biscuit. Pretty lame gravy. Wife had some coated potato sticks - sting serving. Eggs over easy - hard to mess that up. The tenderloin was anything but tender. Over-cooked and tough, sort of like salted card board. Hot sauce could not save it, so I did not finish it. The building is clean, but it is new. But it was way, way too cold in there. Our meal was cold before we got halfway through it. There is basically no place to sit without one of the AC blowers shooting cold air at you. First and last time I am there. The Hursey's in Graham does a much better job. They provide table service, so I don't mind tipping at that one. read more

Hursey's never lets me down. The chicken and bbq was amazing. The chicken had crispy skin and the meat was very juicy and it had amazing flavor. The bbq was juicy as well and I didn't even need the bbq sauce that came with it. The hush puppies were really good and sweet and the cole slaw was perfect as always. The french fries were good too but I wish they were a little more crispy. The tea could have used just a little bit more sugar but it was still really good. read more

Stopped by to check out the new location for Hursey's, just opened a few days ago. Hursey's has always been one of my favorite bbq places, I love their bbq and aslo their broasted chicken, the broasted chicken will change your life. I had the 4 piece dinner today and it was awesome as usual like the other locations. The chicken is lightly breaded, but the broasting turns the skin into crispy cracklin type deliciousness, I don't even eat regular fried chicken anywhere anymore, I just go to Hursey's if I'm needing some chicken. Service was quick, staff was super friendly on my visit. Great new location, it's not very far from the Alamance Crossing area or Elon College. read more

I would highly recommend going somewhere else for food. First off all eight pieces of the broasted chicken was severely OVERCOOKED, to the point all of it was UN-EDIBLE. And secondly the Cole slaw and potato salad were both room temperature, like they had been seating out all day. Unfortunately I didn't find it out until I was already at home, about 20 minutes away. After spending 28.44, the only thing I was able to salvage from this meal was the half gallon of tea. When I called to complain I was placed on hold for over 13 minutes, when I got ahold of someone I was told they were out of chicken and hung up on me. I ended up having to settle for a PB&J sandwich, and will definitely NOT eat there again. read more

5:30 pm on a Sat evening and they're out of onion rings when there's a grocery store that's within literal walking distance, glad we drove down from Mcleansville for that. BBQ sandwiches were pretty skimpy on the meat and the buns were just soaked and fell apart, I guess they were trying to reconstitute dried-out product by adding water, not much flavor to the meat at all. The tea was really weak tasting, with barely any tea flavor to it at all. Skip this location and go to the main one unless you have the taste buds of a possum and find everything a 5 star. read more

i stopped by today as i was starved and ordered a broasted chicken sandwich which i knew would hit the spot. i also ordered peach cobbler and told them not too much crust as i had received last time- what a disappointment! my chicken had obviously been reheated and not cooked as custom and my cobbler had no fruit but white pasty crust. i live in greensboro and had gotten on the highway otherwise i would have returned both. i don't know who the cook was or what happened but i was so dissappointed!!!! read more

We have been to this Hursey's about 4 or 5 times since they opened. It has been excellent every time. The bbq sandwich might be a little light on the meat and slaw compared to other bbq restaurants, but it's plenty for me. read more
