I came into Ken's Van Damme's late in the morning, the employees were very busy, with a busy schedule. The men at the front desk listen to my problem with the car, even looking over some paper work I had on some issues about the car. They were so polite and professional. I was traveling alone and after hearing that, they made it a point to fit me into their busy schedule and fix my car, they even gave me a AAA discount. I feel they were my angels. Now, I can make it back to Idaho. If you ever want a reputable, reliable mechanic shop, I would definitely take your car to them. My car now runs fabulous. I Took my daughters car there to go over a clutch issue because i didnt have the time to do it…read moremyself (im aslo a tech) and she needed her car asap. I explained to them in detail what i had done, and what parts i had replaced. Their idea was to replace the same part i did instead of diagnosing the entire sysytem to pinpoint the problem as a shop should...so they call me up the day before pick up to inform me that the problem isnt the part i replaced (big suprise) and low and behold they want another 1400 to crack into the actual problem, and that i just basically paid them 1300 to babysit my daughters car for a week. Instead of diagnosing the system they just threw parts at it...not a good look fellas...so when i get her car back i will go over the lil "easter eggs" i hid to see if it was put back together correctly (i know it wasnt) becuase there should be supplements...my advice is pay those techs better so corners dont need to be cut...and yall wont get put on blast for this type of work...

Like when they replaced the starter, and then it wouldn't start -- they diagnosed a dying battery (starter was fine), and even tightened all the belts for free after the hubby went and got a new battery. I had a triple a tow truck driver tell me I needed a new battery. I wasn't so sure so I took my 27 yr old ford escort to Clemens. I said I wanted them to figure out the battery issue & I wanted an oil change. Well they tried to sell me a brand new Napa battery for $220 and when I balked, they got weird. I said I wasn't going to have the car much longer so why would I want to spend that kind of money on a battery. I said I'd get a battery & bring it there for them to install. they said okay. I took them the battery & expected the oil change to be done & I could take my car. Wrong! They had still not done the oil change & their reason was that they couldn't do it if the car had a dead battery. I thought since they were an auto repair shop that they could figure out how to do an oil change on a car that needed a battery, like use a battery that they keep on hand just for this reason. But no I had to leave my car over the weekend. when it still wasn't ready on Mon evening I was pissed. I said just install the battery, forget the oil change. they'd had my car for 3 days & done nothing, then they charged me $60 to install the battery, saying that they really should have charged me the full diagnostic charge which is $120.00. Wow what a ripoff place!

My 07 Tacoma has struts from a different year Tacoma, that's it, everything else is bone stock under there. I understand that some vehicles with modified suspension can have a harder time taking an alignment and they might have to try twice, but all I needed was a toe check and to have my steering wheel straightened! Easy easy job on any car. Ended up walking out on principle. If they'd quoted me $150 over the phone I'd happily paid them. Never make a price decision at an auto shop, so many are trained to nickel and dime you, if you start to cave at all they will just keep going with it.
