I took my drivable car to their shop, and their so-called "repair" ended up destroying it. I had to have the car towed to the dealership afterward. Their promises are empty--don't trust them under any circumstances. My car started shaking while idling, so I brought it to their shop. They quoted me $600 for a throttle body replacement, and I authorized the repair. However, things quickly went downhill from there. They began misrepresenting the condition of their work, claiming they had driven the car and the issue persisted, which required them to keep the car for the weekend. After two days, they finally called to inform me that the timing chain had failed, resulting in catastrophic engine failure and the car won't start. They quoted me $1,800 to fix the timing chain. Frustrated with their dishonesty, I had the car towed. A subsequent diagnosis from the dealership confirmed that the engine is damaged and needs to be replaced. read more

What earned my trust with SASC was when they called to tell me I didn't need a new catalytic converter after all, but rather just two smaller parts replaced. Total came out to $600 less than we we originally agreed on. Staff there were nothing but professional. They were transparent in the process, patient with my questions, clarified any misunderstandings I had, and we're flexible with my schedule. Amazing auto shop! Had to take my car in for the first time ever since I usually took it to my stepdad but since we moved out of state this is the first time I've had to do it on my own. My wife went to fill up there this morning as it was 10 cents cheaper than the station across the street. She parked at a pump, swiped her card and the pump indicated she needed to see attendant. She went into the gas station, which promptly filled with other customers. The clerk was to busy talking on the phone, my wife indicated her gas pump and pre-paid to fill the tank, she went out to pump her gas and found that the clerk had incorrectly started a different pump. The clerk, and owner were totally unwilling to cancel the transaction, saying it was my wifes error and was unwilling to resolve the issue in any way shape or form. I would avoid these guys at all costs. I sure as heck won't be going there. Its a shame as I knew the long time previous owners. read more

This place might not be much to look at, but they are THE BEST repair shop in the area. I have a son who lives and goes to school in Ann Arbor, and had a daughter graduate from there a couple years ago. It is so hard to find a place you can trust when your kids are out of town to do honest repairs at a good price. We took our kids cars to four different shops in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, before one of my son's friends recommended Standard Auto. We could not be happier with the service, speed, and cost of the work they do there. Musa is as friendly as can be, and usually works the car in and out in a short time. They explain the repairs needed, and even help save money by offering options for repairs that might be able to wait. I was able to pay for the repairs over the phone, which helped being so far away, and then my son was able to stop by that evening any time before 11:00PM to pick it up. We have now had three separate repairs done at Standard Auto, and we have been pleased every time. If they were not two hours away from my house, I would take my car there also. Warning, I was wrongfully charged $50 for towing. This repair shop markets free tow with major repairs. My car needed major repairs and I still had to pay for towing. They never called me or responded to my emails about the status of my car, but when I called they said they were going to start charging me for storage of my vehichle, but didnt even tell me how much or pre warn me. The man who answers for there service department is extremely unproffesional. He blew up on me when I questioned his pricing and marketing. All I said was "I will have to speak to my lawyer about how he was trying to wrongfully charge me." He replied by saying "I dont care call your dancer call anybody, but if I dont receive my money im charging you for storage" and then he hung up on me. He never told me how much the storage would be, he never called me for a status update on my vehichle. read more

This shop fixed my car last year which DHS paid for. The part is warrantied and they gave me The runaround for a week.They had my car for two days before they looked at it. I had two other shops tell me it was the part they replaced. They said that it was something else and if I didn't get my car off their lot they were going to impound it. I wasn't going to give them a star but I had to to post this.these guys are crooks who like to disadvantage the people who really need help from the state. I now have to get my car fixed which is $800.00 that I dont have and these crooks act as if they don't care and nothing will happen to them. DHS has called me and told me that there are numerous clients that this shop has screwed over. Don't go to these people. They're horrible and don't want to honor their warranty. read more

BEWARE OF THIS SHOP! THIS BUSINESS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A RIP OFF. I left my red 1991 BMW with this shop to replace water hoses and vaccum lines because this is where the previous owner had her repairs done. After 10 days and 300.00 dollars in car rental I picked up the car only to have the car begin running very rough. I had a real mechanic take a look under the hood and found that the hose that was replaced was the wrong hose for the car and it was crimped and restricting water flow to the engine. They claim it took 10 days for the hose to arrive after it was order. The real mechanic also pulled the vaccum lines that were supposed to have been replaced and found that instead of replacing lines they had only wrapped electric tape around the lines and did not replace them and the hose that I waited so long for wasnt even new. This shop charged over 300.00 dollars for the repairs and had actually done nothing but hussle me and cost me over 700.00 dollars including the replacement of all lines and hoses by a real mechanic. This shop is nothing more than sham and a true disgrace to mechanics and shops everywhere. Shops like this one are why so many people are scared of being ripped off by and if you take your vehicle to this place you will be truely sorry and will be out alot of money. I am writing this to let all potential customer to beware. The shop has refused to make good on the so-called repairs and I am thinking of taking legal action. The owners and mechanics at this place are nothing more than theives and will lie and steal to get your money. Beware they really like using electrical tape and zip ties for making repairs. Check with the B.B.B. before taking your vehicle to any shop. Once again. Standard Auto Service Center should be named Screw You Service Center. read more
