Standard Plumbing, Johnny & Arne ROCK!! 8 years after we purchased our bathroom plumbing and fixtures from Standard Supply, one of our shower Grohe systems started to slowly drip when off, and one of the two Kohler water tanks for the toilettes was showing its age. A month ago I stopped by their show room and Arne, the manager for Standard Supply looked at my videos, my receipts from 8 years ago, the schematics for the respective systems and told me that their team should be able to help me get warranty replacements from Grohe and respectively, Kohler. A few days later, Johnny reached out to me via email and phone with details on the parts that he researched with the respective manufacturers and told me that I should receive the necessary parts from both of them at no cost, no tax, no shipping!!!! Johnny explained to me that a couple of factors contributed to this good news: 1. Grohe and Kohler offer lifetime warranties on their products and they back those warranties up with actual parts. Yes, they may be more expensive, but in time, gaskets or other parts wear off due to hot water, high usage, water deposits, etc. With a lifetime warranty, they will send the replacement parts for free. 2. The fact that I actually kept all the original receipts from Standard Plumbing enabled Arne & Johnny to determine that I made the purchases in their store. Sometimes, companies and stores like Standard Plumbing will change their computer systems, databases, etc, and in the process, there are instances where very old records are not retained. So, keeping the invoices was crucial in the investigations of what exactly was ordered 8 years ago, to make it easy to work with the manufacturers. I truly appreciate the professionalism and great support received from both of them, and I know that for as long as Standard Plumbing Supply is in business, I have a great team of plumbing experts that I can rely upon for any further plumbing related needs. This is a wonderful business with great customer service. You don't feel like a customer but a friend. A few months ago, I spoke to a woman, Diana, and she was welcoming and helpful. I was at the beginning stages of my projects and trying to figure it all out and she spent time with me. Today, I was trying to find a specific toilet and spoke to Johnny. He was very helpful and helped me decide (I had spent the past week trying to figure out toilets!). This is my second review for Standard Plumbing, six years after the first one. In 2017 we bought ALL our bathroom and kitchen plumbing supplies, faucets, shower, shower pan, etc from Standard Plumbing. They have been very helpful. Over the years we have enjoyed the newly remodeled bathrooms and kitchen. Six years later, one of the Grohe faucets started to have a very low water flow due to deposits. I went to the store to ask for assistance in buy a replacement part. One of the gentlemen working there, Johnny, has been very helpful. As soon as I provided him with copies of my 2017 purchases, he was able to track down the replacement part, reached out to Grohe and asked them to send us three replacement aerators for the three Grohe faucets. Not only did they send them, but the shipment was free of any charges, since the Grohe faucets have a true lifetime warranty. I really appreciate Johnny's help, so I thought that a nice note on Yelp would show potential customers that they will be in good hands with the Standard Plumbing team in Concord. This place has the plumbing fixtures that you need for lower prices! It's where the contractors go to pick up their supplies, so I knew this was a good bet. There is a main room with all types of plumbing supplies, in addition to a showroom that's adjacent to the main room. The showroom has all sorts of fixtures on display for your remodeling needs. We were able to pick up a kitchen faucet sprayer for a lot less than at a big box store. Plus, Paul recommended a great plumber, Scott of Jack's Remodeling, who fixed the kitchen sink for a reasonable price. read more

I had to replace a hard to find 2 hole laundry room faucet and the Letts plumber suggested this store. It is located in the middle of nowhere but has beautiful large showroom. Rep Arnie looked in storage and could not find one so he searched catalogs to order one moen faucet that fits. Also followed up with email and installation pictures. We purchased everything we needed for our bathroom remodel last Fall. We had a decent experience with two very helpful salespeople. 9 months later the shower head began to leak at the ball joint. I called Standard Plumbing to ask how to proceed with the damaged product. The highly corrosive representative I spoke with told me two things- 1. They have no computer records for personal sales, only wholesale. I couldn't believe that even though my entire order was processed in their computer system that they could not access it. Once I did find my invoice, they couldn't find any records with my invoice number. WTF? 2. They also said that they are only there to sell products, and they are not responsible for anything beyond sales. Then they said "why would I ever think they would help with any issue, they are only a store?" They gave me a 800 number for Kohler and told me to take it up with them. I ended up speaking with Kohler, who couldn't have been more helpful and kind. They are sending out a free replacement today. Thank you Kohler for your good service! We have plans to do our other bathroom later this year, but I will certainly never return to this business. If a business can't even help other than passing the buck to the manufacturer, no thank you. I will never give my business to this terrible store again. read more

I can not imagine better customer service! I called Standard Plumbing to enquire about a replacement part for a faucet I didn't even buy from them. I was blown away by Dede's willingness to help me. She was willing to see if she herself might have the piece I needed even though she no longer carried this particular brand in her store. In the end, she was able to help me get the missing part from the manufacturer free of charge. She absolutely made my day, as I needed 2 pieces that the manufacturer initially told me cost $34 each. ..they were missing from the box when I purchased the faucet. Dede didn't care if I purchased the faucet from them, she just wanted to help me get the parts. Imagine what kind of customer service they provide when you actually purchase an item from them! Customer service in the back was absolutely terrible. I needed a small part to a faucet that they sold and the guy was not even willing to call the manufacturer to see if we could order it. After one hour and a gentleman from the Manteca store taking over, we called, found the correct part and got it ordered with a promise of a phone call when they arrived, knowing I had a huge dinner to do and needed the pre-rinse sink sprayer. Surprise...no phone call when the part arrived. I even called first thing to remind them to call me when the part arrived. I had to call again after 4pm and they said that the parts came in around noon...was not happy at all!!! read more

Probably would have been three stars if not for DeDe, she's a gem. A very, very energetic, friendly, bouncy, and helpful gem. Had a leaky toilet that was rather old anyway, so after some online research, and determining that Home Depot's selection does indeed stink, went to Standard Plumbing. The show room is pretty large and there's plenty of options to browse. And yes, you can actually sit on these toilets, they aren't glued to a shelf 5 feet above you like at Home Depot. And yes, I know why they have to do that (it's a Sick Sad World...). DeDe helped narrow down the options and looked up various models and price points for us, and seemed, well, genuinely passionate about her job. And ended up finding a great toilet that was exactly what I wanted for the right price (I'm cheap). Also helpfully pointed out that CoCo county is running a rebate program if you buy a water-efficient toilet and helped get all the information lined up for me. Over a 100 smackers back, score! I have another toilet in my downstairs bath that needs replacing and will surely be coming back here. OHH, and it helps that Black Diamond Brewing Co. has their tasting room right down the road. I recently purchased a replacement valve from another store and found my faucet was still leaking. After trying several fixes, I decided to stop by this company on a recommendation. I am taking my time to write how helpful they were. They had exactly what I needed. They understood what I needed, what I had done, and that it should have worked! After spending $2,500 at Standard I called to ask a question about one of the valves I purchased. I was told to call Moen. When asked if they had knowledge of the products they sold, I was told "I am not a plummer" I have never has such bad customer service. I have had the WORST experience with this company in Concord, CA. Their sign at the front door says Monday-Friday 7 to 5. I went on a Saturday and left because the sign said Monday through Friday only. I went home to look at their website and noticed that they do have Saturday hours! I was there when they were opem, but left because of the incorrect sign. I went back on a Monday at 7:50 and the doors were locked. I walked around the side and a man said that the showroom is open at 8. I said that the sign says 7-5. He said 7-5 is for contractors and that the showroom hours are different. I asked when I should come back to get service from the lady who works in the showroom and he said that she'll be in at 8:30 am. So, I went back at 10:00 only to find out that the lady comes in at 1:30 on Monday!!! I will NEVER give my business to this company!! read more

We are just finishing a master bath remodel, and ordered our sinks, toilet, and faucets here. Dee Dee was extremely helpful, and offered great suggestions on what would work with our new bathroom. I went back to Standard to order cabinet hardware, and Dee Dee was there and once again, was extremely helpful. The only downside is we ordered Riobel faucets from Canada, and they have taken a bit longer to arrive than we had hoped. Also, they are only open on Saturday by appointment (we drove out on a Saturday and found this out the hard way). Other than that, they are a great store off the beaten path. Standard Plumbing - Concord: Parts Department Fantastic customer service! Ernie, at the parts counter, is an absolute stellar employee. Our access valve to our tub drain pipe under the house "broke off" when I tried to unscrew the cap. It turns out that the previous home owner (15 years ago) adhered a plastic pipe to the existing cast iron pipe with what looked to be silicone and when I turned the cap, the seal broke... at 4:45pm. I ran down to SP and Ernie greeted me with a smile and listened attentively to my situation. Expecting him to hand over some more adhesive and send me on my way, he instead found parts to get the job done RIGHT. He explained how to install it without patronizing me as a woman. Unfortunately, one side of the part he gave me did not fit over the existing pipe under my house - my fault for not measuring it before I came into the store. Since it was after hours, I had to return the next morning. As soon as he saw me, he knew it didn't work and went back to solving the problem with an alternative solution. This man went out of his way to accommodate me. He gave me encouragement to get the job done... and it WORKED. I was able to fix a problem on my own, without having to hire someone, and I was able to do so because of Ernie's excellent customer service. read more

I have been putting together a full bath remodel and had been to General Plumbing in Walnut Creek a few times and it was clear all they wanted to do was have me send in my contractor. This was in the showroom part, not the service section. I heard about Standard Plumbing and although they are much harder to get to, I went and was delighted. Concededly it's takes a bit of time to be helped, but once you are they are willing to walk you through each step of the plumbing world which now includes a lot more than it did twenty years ago. They were very willing to help match styles between manufacturers and to work out the features I wanted like anti scald and thermostatic controls. Who knew there was so much to know about toilets! Standard does! I needed a new one for a bathroom remodel and went in and picked one out because I liked the way it looked. Deedee (hope I'm spelling your name righ!) quickly explained why I would want one over the other. I ended up leaving with a totally different toilet and call me strange but I can't wait to get it! (I ended up with a Toto. They have patented flushing technology which turns out to be the best and very important in this era of low flow toilets. I also got the wooden no-slam toilet seat and a beautiful brushed steel handle that matches my bathroom fixtures. Who knew such a thing existed!!!) They also were able to order for me the corner sink and cabinet for my other bathroom at almost 50% of the price quoted to me at several other places!! If you need bathroom or kitchen fixtures, sinks for either room, or toilets and tubs, and of course all the guts that go along with that stuff, this is the place to go. The showroom is fun to walk around and of course there is even more available by catalogue that they can order for you. But most importantly you must talk to Deedee! (Again, hope I'm spelling your name right!) She *knows* what she's talking about! She will let you buy what you want but she'll also tell you why something else is better. Plus she will look up stuff on the internet and print it out for you while you are standing there so you can take it home and think about it. The other guys working here are nice but she just is the best! And PS, she did NOT try to talk me into buying something more expensive, just better! I ended up paying less! But call ahead, their web site says they are open on Saturdays but they seem to be open only every other Saturday. And don't try to turn left at the corner they are on, go past the light and turn left into their parking lot. You can't get to them turning left at the light. read more

After starting my search for our master bath's remodel fixtures at a small and pricey boutique bath showroom and at the usual local plumbing supply store (both near downtown Walnut Creek,) I was so happy and lucky to find Standard Plumbing! They have a large beautiful showroom with easy parking and access from the highway. It was my quartz fabricator in Martinez who called them when we needed to find a very shallow sink. Dede responded immediately so I made an appointment with her. She was very knowledgeable, patient, and thorough in helping me decide between the many styles and feature options. And the prices were very competitive. I compared the Standard Plumbing prices to a few online plumbing sources. Standards prices were about the same or less for most of the items. The couple of items that were a bit more were definitely worth the difference given all the time, expertise and personalized service that I received from Dede. Adam, who is leaving to manage the new San Jose store, was also very friendly and helpful if Dede wasn't in. The whole place is very well run. All my items arrived on time and were inspected before I picked them up. Moreover, when I wanted to inspect the medicine cabinet myself, the guys in the back didn't mind reopening the box and unpacking the item to show me before rewrapping it again. After about 10 minutes of looking around I waved a someone sitting at his desk and he casually looked at me and didn't say a word. I called Standard Plumbing about a replacement Rheem water heater after being recommended to them by Rheem. I called them and gave them the details and they said they could replace it. I asked if there were any charges and was told that it was a free replacement under warranty. They asked me to bring a sticker off the old water heater. I went there and they seemed to be ready to help. However, they thought I should get a 10 year warranty like my old water heater had, instead of the 6 year warranty on the new one specified by Rheem. They called Rheem and then told me that they could give me a upgrade kit under the warranty that would make the new water heater have a 10 year warranty. After having been there for a half hour, while the sales person was on the phone working out the details, he came back to me an said that I needed to go to a different distributor who had actually sold the original water heater to the original plumber. So, after wasting all that time, I went to the other distributor. There I was offered the same parts, but was told it would cost $250 plus tax. I told them that Standard Plumbing was going to give it to me at no charge under warranty. They refused to give me that offer, so I decided to go back to Standard. I called and talked to the manager, who then stated that they were going to charge me $250 plus tax as well. I told him that I had come to them originally after being told this would not cost me anything. He offered no accommodation or explanation or excuse for what I had been told. I ended up not buying from them and feel as if I had been lied to just to get me to come to them in the first place. read more

My first yelp review and this place is worth the effort Our first visit here was for a part on an old toilet that broke on our son's graduation day,talk about stress When we walked in the showroom it was very busy but we were still greeted right away. The plastic bag in our hand must have been the clue we were looking for a parts counter because thats what the man asked and showed us the way. This place was even more busy, but everyone was laughing and joking while they waited their turn. This must be the place to be! It was like Cheers for contractors,with a comedian behind the bar! The staff was running back and forth to shorten the line but noone left when they were done, the customers helped us find our part while we waited for our turn,bottom line,we were in and out in 20 minutes,stress gone and we were both smiling and laughing all the way home. What an experience!, only wish we could have stayed longer. Our second visit was to replace that old toilet, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable,an equally pleasurable experience. Very poor customer service overall at Standard Plumbing in Concord. DeDe was originally very helpful. I ordered my item (shower trim and kit) and was told to expect a call that it had shipped to the store within 5-7 business days. Every week for the next 6 weeks I called to check on my item. Eventually I asked them to look into it...at which point DeDe let me know that my item was back-ordered for several months. She gave me the date to expect, and I was left to wait. During this time, my contractor began his work as planned. We expected that my item would arrive prior to his completing the other tasks. I found out (through MY calling the store and requesting, once again) that the item was back-ordered yet again. DeDe then went through the process of finding this item at a different store and had the company ship it to my house. I was not told that the FedEx delivery would require a signature, so I had to wait another week to pick up my item at a FedEx location. Needless to say, my contractor had long since completed my project and had moved on to another location by the time I obtained the shower trim (it had taken two months to obtain an item that I was told I would receive in one week). I will not be doing business with Standard Plumbing again. read more

We are a stone fabricator in Concord, we send all our customers that do not already have their plumbing needs taken care of to DeDe she is THE BEST!!! We have also let all our contractors, plumbers, and designers know about her. We look like the good guys when it is DeDe who is doing ALL the wonderful work. The showroom is great for one who is not sure what they need or want, but if it is not there, she will show them more options from her many catalogs, she is so knowledgeable! She gives our customer the best customer service, and prices, we hear so much great feedback it is unreal. I refer he to friends and family as well. SHE IS THE BEST!!!! We went to this showroom April 29, and we were impressed with the products they had. We were so impressed we bought a bathroom sink, a kitchen faucet, and bathroom faucets, to the tune of over $800. I used my charge card. We were told that we would be called when our shipment came in. 2 weeks, maybe 3, went by. No phone call. I called. The kitchen faucet was in, but no bathroom sink. We picked up the kitchen faucet and were promised that the sink must be on its way because it was being shipped from Utah, and how long could it take?? Long story short, by June 4, after 3 trips out there, they finally admitted the sink was never coming. I ordered a different. Perfect! There are lots of them in stock! 4 business days tops. I called them today, June 17, and DeeDee told me she never ordered the sink, even though she knew all of the trouble we had, and the fact that our bathroom remodel is starting tomorrow. Oh, she was sorry! We could have the floor model. She would have it boxed and ready for us. We got there, and it was still on the showroom floor. My husband had to disconnect it himself and we had to lug it to our truck. No hello. goodbye, nothing. I will never, I repeat never, do business with this company again! I have never seen such imcompetence. read more
