Decided to come here after getting recommendations to visit. I am not a huge whiskey person BUT I realized that you don't have to be to appreciate it and depending on the whiskey you may come to find one you may like ! My partner and I tried the flight and it was so fun ! I was impressed with the variety and I loved the elderflower one !! They also had a wide variety of drinks on their menu. ALSO I have to appliqué who ever decorated this place because it is so cute! It's a very sexy and cute place which is hard to find from outside but a very nice hold in the place spot. The only downside is the parking. It's hard to find parking near by and may have to walk a little farther. read more

As a non whiskey drinker, the bartender was so sweet and helped make me fun drinks that i would like while the person accompanying me drank a flight. He was super knowledgeable and attentive, and the drinks were delicious. This is a great place to support local business. Be ware that the only liquor sold here is made in house, so no other types of liquor are sold here. However, the local experience and learning was great. The ambiance was very relaxed while also feeling a bit high end for not too bad of a price. I would recommend this to tourists, but it seemed that many local people like to frequent here! read more

I spent 48 hours in Nashville, and I was on a mission. I needed to sample ALL the old fashioneds within the city limits. If I hadn't been so dedicated to the mission, I would have started and stopped at Standard Proof. I did a smidge of recon and knew up front I wanted the pecan-infused whiskey. Joshua ("call me Josh, or Whatever") the bartender handily whipped up the best old fashioned I had in Nashville. While we enjoyed our drinks, he told us about some of the local highlights and more about the whiskey we were drinking. The bar has a great vibe, sort of industrial minimalist. My boyfriend and I went to Standard Proof on a whim. I had suggested it because I saw some good reviews on yelp. He was hesitant because he was expecting something like fireball or flavored whiskeys that were very sweet. However, when we got there, the bartender was amazing in explaining the concept and the whiskeys were so great - both in the flight and in cocktails. The orange blossom drink was just perfectly floral and citrusy, not sweet. But my favorite is definitely the espresso martini. I am a huge espresso martini fan, and didn't know what to expect with a whiskey based espresso martini. Then the coconut creaminess that is combined with it - just perfect! My boyfriend and I have been searching for an espresso this good for months now and haven't found it yet. read more

This review is overdue. I visited Nashville about 2 weeks ago with friends to celebrate my birthday. We booked the Whiskey Tasting at Standard Proof for a Friday night. It was truly an awesome experience and a highlight of our trip. There was 7 of us so it's perfect for groups. Kat led the tasting and she was super fun and knowledgeable. I'm not a whiskey person but this tasting changed my mind for sure! The cocktails we made at the end of the class were delicious. We popped in here on a Monday afternoon to escape the heat and tried x5 different cocktails... They were all amazing and so unique! They have cocktails to suit every taste, and they are all crafted with care. Nothing is overpoweringly sweet, and every drink is elegant, with ingredients like lemongrass simple syrup, honeysuckle whiskey, fresh basil... just beautiful! The bartender was very professional and kind. I asked for some coconut water to rehydrate (since that's one of their cocktail ingredients) and he ended up giving it to me on the house. So...normally if I want flavored booze I drink gin, but in town for business and trying to find a chill place (like, not blaring mediocre county music at 11). This place delivers. In a city where Broadway & the Honkey Tonk highway seem to dominate- we were so so so very pleasantly surprised to quite literally stumble upon this hidden gem in Nashville! At the time of our visit I think they said they had been open for about 2 months- but I have a feeling once word gets out this place is going to explode. From start to finish and everything in between our experience was top notch. STAFF: Our bartender was Abby and she was legit the B.E.S.T! When we walked in she greeted us and gave us the rundown of the business and gave us some tips for ordering, then throughout the night kept coming back with better and better recommendations. We also really loved hanging out with Ashley - everyone was so great to talk to. I won't lie, we ended up back in the same spot the following night for round 2! COCKTAILS: I think we ended up trying everything on the menu. You really can't go wrong with any choice you make, but our personal favorites were the Mexican coke and the espresso martini (don't skip the whip!!! .. im serious, get it!) Their cocktail menu has all of the tried and true classic cocktails everyone enjoys, but all with a fun twist - and all ft. their whiskey. My DH is a whiskey lovin' feen, I however am NOT, but my girl Abby beind the bar quickly changed my mind with the magical cocktails she whipped up.. That being said, if you aren't a whiskey lover don't let this place scare you away. They have something on the menu for everyone!
