This is a pretty cool sports bar, don't expect much else. They just show sports on all of their TVs around the small bar area. It can get pretty crowded at times, but usually its just a nice place to chill and relax with a couple friends. They have a pretty good beer selection with lots of beers on tap. If you know your beer, you'll like the beers on hand. There isn't very much seating around (there's a couple tables) so if it fills up expect to stand the whole time. Also, on Fridays they have free pizza which is a plus if you're looking for some free pizza and beer. Overall, just a solid neighborhood sports bar. A great place to watch the game. read more

A tiny, rather hidden sports bar that only serves beer. I kind of like the decor: apparently if you have any sports memorabilia to donate, they'll hang it on their walls so the place is floor-to-ceiling covered in t-shirts, foam hands, banners, anything you can think of representing different sports teams. I imagine it can be an intense place to watch major sports events. They have a lot of specials throughout the week and if I lived closer I'd definitely take advantage. My one complaint is to replace their bar stools as they look like large dogs chewed on them. read more

Sports and excellent beer, great concept.

This is the bar you want to come to when you're meeting up with a friend or two and just want to hang out. No music playing, just audio (at a normal level) of one of the sports games they have playing. A ton of really good beers on tap that you won't see most other places. Free food randomly. Monday night is free wings night. Not just any shitty wings though, these are from atomic wings (in my opinion, one of the best wing places in the city). Friday nights you get free pizza. I was there on a random wednesday and got a couple free cheesesteaks (from 99 Miles to Philly) and some Sly Fox brewery deals. Awesome. Oh, and the bartender was nice and attentive without being annoying (plus pretty cute, which never hurts). Prices are around 6 bucks a pint, which is ok for good beers, but not great deal. Not sure what the happy hour deals are. Place is tiny, but it's also not packed, which is nice. Seriously, where else could they offer you free food and good beer and not have a bar packed. It's cause it's a little hole in the wall that no one knows about. Except you and me. Seriously, go there, talk with some buddies, watch some tv, and eat some free shit. Oh, a note, they have no kitchen, so don't go there thinking you can order anything. They just bring in food from other places when they are giving stuff away. And they just serve beer as far as I can see, no hard liquor. read more

it be maaad crowded yo. the place is pretty tiny, so if you're going for a college football game, be prepared to sit on your neighbors lap. lots of tv's, a good crowd, and def. a great beer selections. they do pitchers as well for those looking to save more than just 15% or more on their car insurance. it is a little more on the pricey side, due more to the fact that the beers are much better than at other locales. read more

great little sports bar. they have lots of sports memorabilia and paraphernalia on the wall, but not the cheesy kind. they had some really cool stuff (i wish i could remember something specific, but, hey, thats how it goes). i also liked the beer selection. good micro brews, even a blueberry on tap. they also seem to give away a lot of free food. i happened to be in there on free hot dog night and they were going to have free pizza night soon (again, i wish i could remember when!). standings is also conveniently located on my way home from the village which will greatly increase my likeliness of going back some night when i am on a walk home and need that last beer to carry me through. read more

Very good spot. Probably the best, most authentically decorated sports bar I've been in. All draft beer, no bottles. Service was a bit surly but it was midnight after a long day of college football. The place is small though and TV's are in difficult sight lines so it's not easy to watch multiple games at the same time. You end up doing a lot of neck craning around drunk NYU students looking like they're in the middle of a pub crawl. The TV's are already dated too so even though they're flat screens the pictures aren't great. I'd stop in again if I was in the neighborhood but wouldn't make it a destination spot to watch a big game. read more

I'll make this evaluation in two parts. First as a sports bar, it gets 4 1/2 stars. Lots of screens, with the most accommodating bartender I've ever met. Not only is he responsive when you ask for a game to be put on, but he pays attention to when games end and switches those screens to different games. We had a group of three watching an NBA game (they do have NBA league pass), and he saw that we were intently watching, so he put the sound on. After going to so many sports bars where you have to hassle them to get them to even turn it on, we were all pleasantly surprised. As a nightlife destination, it gets 2 stars. It's a very small bar that doesn't play any music. Over two visits, I've seen maybe 5 girls total. Beers aren't particularly cheap ($5 for a bud light draft, no pitchers) for how much of a dive the place is. However, being in the East Village makes an easy trek to somewhere more suitable to go out. read more

Awesome place for draft microbrews and viewing popular sporting events of the day. As a Cal alum, it is a little sad that most alumni do not consider this THE Cal bar anymore, but the place was just a little small to accommodate the huge crowds that our games drew. However, the place is still packed with Cal alum during games, albeit a smaller crowd than you will find at the official Cal Alumni sponsored bar venues. The owner is a Cal alum, who has good taste in making his beer selections and offers free pizza/bagels/etc. for the big sporting events (i.e. Cal games). Beer and wine only. Make sure your friends are cool with that, or they are going to be bitching all night. read more

This is the best sports bar in the area. Standings has a great selection of beers from microbreweries and the choices always change. If you're into beer you can always try something new and for patrons that aren't as adventurous there's still Bud Light and Guiness (it's worth the extra buck for a better beer). There's no hard liquor, but they do have some ciders, wine, and root beer. During happy hour there's a dollar off on drafts deal. There's always free pizza on Friday evenings and free food on random nights (currywurst from Wechsler's, cheesteaks from 99 Miles to Philly, wings from Atomic, etc.). They also have a stash of take out menus so you can get food delivered to the bar. It's usually not too crowded on the weekends which is a nice change from the packed places in the this area. The exception is for big games. I'd suggest coming early on those nights to make sure you get a seat. There's about 8 HD flatscreen TV's here with a pretty extensive Direct TV package so you should be able to watch the game you're itching for. As far as music, you'll only hear the audio from the game deemed most important at the time. The decor of the bar is fantastic. There's a lot of old obscure college and professional sports memorabilia from current and defunct clubs of the past. In case you're wondering the pair of stadium seats is from Shea. I know the owner would never accept a Yanks banner from me, but I have plans on donating a NY Giants and a Knicks banner. Usually I'll pop in Friday evenings to watch the Yankees game with a friend or two (Yes, I'm a Yankees fan and a regular here for about a year). The owner is a Mets fan from CT, one of the bartenders is from Massachusetts, and another is from Chicago, so I wouldn't say this bar is necessarily dedicated to one team. So come by, wind down, enjoy the cozy atmosphere, try out a hard to find brew, and watch your favorite athletic squadron attempt to grab that W. read more

My friend couldn't believe I'd never been to Standings, which was funny-- I mean, I don't hate the existence of sports bars, but I don't go to them, especially not when they are next door to bars I do go to (like Burp Castle), you know? To be clear, it is a bar about sports, but not a "sportsbar," that is to say, it isn't a glorified BW3s or something. I was impressed with the selection they had on tap, & nabbed a Greenport Harbor Anti-Freeze, which was a nice malty beer. Standings is amazing especially if you're from Boston living in New York you feel at home there but it doesn't matter where you're from because you'll have fun. Good beer selection, the place gets lively and active for any sports game, and what I liked most of all was that you could be a fan of any team there and not get crap for it. Very cool place. It is basically mecca for any sports fan who likes good beer. I just started going here regularly during this football season and couldn't stay away after that. The sports atmosphere literally drips off the walls with all of the cool memorabilia. I've probably tried at least 15 beers at Standings that I had never heard of before, and liked them all for the most part. Small bar was standing room packed but a great place to watch March Madness. Tons of TVs that cover every conceivable viewing angle, so you can always look straight into a screen. $6 craft brews and $20 pitchers. The banners on the ceiling are pretty cool, as is the "big board" of standings (must be a pain to update during the NCAA basketball season). Would come here to watch baseball in the summer (I think its a Mets bar, but there were people cheering for the Tigers against the Yankees when I was there). Divey entryway but the actual space is not dirty at all, in fact, I didn't see a single sticky spot on the tables or the bar, which can't be said of big box sports bars on game day. read more
