An old friend was in town a few weeks ago, and we met for dinner at Stanford's. Nice decor, and not blaring some tinny music as so many places feel the need to do. Went back to Standfords,it had been 5yrs ,I was in town and met family there excited for a good prime rib dinner. The appetizers where the high light,still great,had the calamari Next came the prime rib. The cut was tough n lacked flavor. The asparagus was awful, the manager even had another serving sent and it to was bad. Our 4 dinner bill was around 138$ We felt it was not worth it. What happened Standfords? UPDATE: after posting this review I received an immediate response from Stanford's to make this right which is much more inline with our past experiences at Stanford's. I am impressed with the level of customer service and sincerity I received. As such, I am updating this review and hope to see this continued service going forward. Thank-you, Stanford's. Stanford's Tanasbourne used to be one of my favorite go-to places. We eat at Stanford's a lot because we like the choices of food. In fact, we love it so much, we joined the rewards club and earned enough rewards points to treat our entire family of 12 to Easter dinner. This time, however, the service was the worst we have ever experienced. I called about 4 weeks prior to make a reservation and they acted like they were doing us a huge favor by allowing a party of our size to even make a reservation. When we arrived we were promptly seated but we had two small children in our party and they didn't offer to bring us children's menus or a booster seat for the little one. We asked for the children's menus and my husband had to go find the booster seat himself. We had terrible service throughout our meal with no water refills or a visit from the manager which is typical of Stanford's restaurants. We were asked if we wanted cinnamon rolls which come with the brunch service. We ordered only 4 for our entire table yet when we asked about the side of fresh fruit that comes with the kid's meals we were told they didn't get that because we had cinnamon rolls. The interesting thing was there was a party of 14 sitting right next to us with a different server. They had constant water refills and when they were seated, they were served platters of cinnamon rolls as soon as they sat down. We won't be back for quite some time and we certainly won't be bringing a large party again. I'm sure there are other places that would be more hospitable. The really frustrating part was we were charged a 20% "banquet" fee for our large party. Our server told us "It's kind of like a tip". So we were forced to pay for service we didn't get. read more

We came here, a party of 8- the day after our daughter's HS graduation. We brought my brother and sister because we know they would love Stanford's Ribeye steaks and Prime Rib dinners as we LOVE them ourselves. The food was amazing and super delicious. Both ribeyes & prime rib dinners cooked to perfection! Salmon chowder was so good!! Everything from the appetizers to our main course was soooo on point and great! They even gave our graduate a dessert menu to pick from as a grad gift from them to her! What made our dining experience even more was the service. Our server Chris is the BEST! kept our drinks filled without us having to ask. He was very caring and very nice! He along with the Host that day was amazing!! ( I feel bad I forgot the gentleman's name who was the host that Sunday afternoon between 3pm-5pm, but he too was awesome! )Conversations with Chris was a joy! He did everything with a smile and genuinely cared to make sure everything was perfect! Hats off to the chefs for the amazing and most delicious food we received that day! Why is it when a big corporation buys a local chain they always seem to ruin it at least a little? This place used to be a reliable four star kind of place now, not so much though I do enjoy the happy hour here. The problem is the lack quality control and price for what you get and the service level has dropped. The regular menu is high for what you get. If they would bring back the old Stanfords...wait I think Copper River and Oswego Grill did that. So that is where I head now. read more

In the early 90s you didn't find many restaurants in the area. Stanfords was the high end, fancy, and romantic restaurant for miles. It did earn a good reputation. Forward 20 plus years....My husband and I dine out at least twice a week to various restaurants and we are not strangers to high end dining and the bill that comes with that experience. I will sum up my review first by saying 'very disappointed'. From our dining experience high end restaurants include soup or salad and even have fresh bread that is brought hot to your table. I asked what came with the Prime Rib..... green beans and red peppers, choice of starch (potato made three different ways). No rice, no pasta choice. No soup or salad either... Hum? for 30 DOLLARS ? ..........We gave it a try anyway............ For a $30 Prime Rib dinner I expected at least a presentation. No, just food on a plate. i do not believe that was a 12oz prime rib compared to other places. Not sure what we paid $30 for. Veggies were red peppers and green beans. That was a plural red peppers I was told. I received one 1/4 inch slice. It was very good. Wish I had the plural version !! We did order a bowl of seafood soup to share which was very lacking in taste except for the strong fish flavor. Making me think it was on border of it's expiration. I had a Spanish coffee as I do at most places we have dinner. Stanfords was very light in color and I drank it in no-time. Usually I can not finish them because they are too strong. They should have a shot of 151 and a shot of coffee liqueur like Kahlua and the rest coffee. It was warm, not hot and little stingy with the whipped cream. Picky about my drink? You better believe it ! I am paying good money for it !! I have to quote Scott N. from Portland who wrote a review and feel that he hit it right on the nose with the following...." Review applicable for HH only! While I see review after review about bad service, I guess we've just been lucky in that we've had great service each time we've been there. The waitresses are polite and prompt, the menu has plenty of options for HH food and a nice ambiance. The music, while always the top 40 kind, adds to the experience nicely. I love the BBQ quesadilla quite a bit and FINALLY tried their mac & cheese. Yuuum. The chicken tenders aren't too bad either. They have your typical beers on tap & HH prices at that. Went here for thanksgiving, their turkey dinner is the stuff of dreams! Also, their pumpkin cheesecake is a revelation. I've been here during non-holiday hours. Been here twice. The first time I was served under-cooked chicken breast which was returned to the kitchen but the meal was not replaced. My husband ended up eating a meal while I sat there and watched. Fun. Thinking that, you know, sh*t happens - a few months later I went back with a girlfriend for a birthday dinner. We were given waters, of which one of them contained a dead ant. When the waiter was informed, he just sort of shrugged it off and loosely apologized. Not willing to find out if the third time is a charm. The service does not hold up at all, and frankly, these two experiences are rather grotesque. read more

Ordered a "Wedge salad" off the menu and it wasn't a wedge at all. Their version apparently is hearts of Iceberg lettuce assembled on a plate much like a hearts of Romaine Ceasar salad. Had lunch the other day with a friend. Their crab and artichoke open sandwich used to be one of better items on their menu. Well, they couldn't have been any skimpier on the crab - what the heck happened over last few years? I know the price of crab went up, but so has the price of the dang sandwich! It's a decent place in Hillsboro to bring business guests too. Most of my lunch/dinners here would be for that purpose. The other time I would go is Happy Hour. They have a pretty decent menu, although it has recently went down hill. Service is top notch though! read more

Well, where to start. Went here for dinner with the family because we had a coupon from a sister restaurant. I hadn't been to a Stanford's in quite a while, and I wish I hadn't. It is a place trying to be a high mid-level dining experience. My meal was over cooked and probably had 3 days worth of salt in it. My wife's meal was the Mac & cheese, and tasted great, however, again 3 days worth of salt, so dehydrated the next day. The time to get our meal seemed a bit long, about 40 minutes after ordering. Otherwise, our server was good and attentive. They did comp my portion of the meal, which was unexpected and unasked for, and for that I raise my star level. It's really too bad the meal didn't match the service provided. Have to say, this is one place it's likely I won't be visiting again. read more

I miss the Stanfords that existed before Covid. Where the service was amazing, the food was awesome, and there was choice. I miss the Brie. I miss that they cared if you visited them. We went in for a special occasion. We had reservations and we were pleased that since the night was special, we'd be in an alcove to ourselves. That was great. Three people greeted us. So far, so good. We were seated, and we had explained one of the parties joining us was stuck in traffic but on the way, so we'd order apps while we waited. We were seated I immediately said it was very cold, we were told they would turn that down. Then the waitress got our drinks...slowly. One at a time. Then we waited for her to come take our app order. Nothing. It was getting even colder. My HUSBAND who is never cold had his fingers turning blue. I said I would go to the front to ask again to stop the AC (it's May, and quite chilly at night still, really? You need the AC?) After I told them I went to the car and got a coat. I walked right past the manager who is sitting at a table chatting with someone he appeared to know. I asked the guest of honor...are you comfortable here? She said, not really, and so we called another restaurant for another reservation. At that point, we got up to leave. THEN the manager happens by and we told him we had waited and waited on service and nothing happened and that it was FREEZING. He didn't even attempt to fix it. He said something along the lines of well, you have that perogative... and we left. Restaurant was hopping, so really, bring back your full menu... Every app was breaded, nothing that a person who is keto could eat. At least with the Brie they could give him celery with it. But that seems to be long gone. Nothing really "different" about the place now :( It's a shame. Keeping your culture through Covid is hard, I realize. But wow. :( At least care if your customers leave :(. read more

From reading reviews it seems like people are hit it miss with this place. We came in a hit night. My steak was great. Just as ordered. The lady's prawn linguini was great. Very tasty. We split an apple crisp for desert. It was huge and delicious. Service was good as well. It's hard for me to give any restaurant 5 stars. This place is a bit pricey even considering the good food hence missing the last star. I will definitely come back when we have some more money to burn. read more

I went in today for a take out order. I ordered a Kruse burger lettuce wrapped. I NEVER said anything else was to be omitted from it. I waited 25 minutes, went home and began to eat. Why do I always think I've reviewed these places when I haven't? I was pretty sure I reviewed here. So this was a good staple until recently upon a visit we had dinner here. The waiter was very RUDE! He acted like he was put out just be serving us then had the audcity at the end of the night to accuse me of taking his pen.. really? I always have my own pen when I sign for my bill- I typically do not like restaurant pens and usually have a better pen than they do, but to look at me and accuse me of taking your pen and coping an attitude the whole evening? You need to check it buddy!! I don't know if we'll be coming back or not because of this waiter. Uncalled for! It's really too bad, the food is pretty decent and it's a nice alternative for a nice dinner if you're looking to go upscale on this side of town. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Stanford's tonight! My parents just got into town, and they both really like American food, so I immediately thought to come here. We took advantage of the Wednesday 1/2 price wine bottles, and we ordered the smoked salmon bruschetta appetizer to start. I had the panzanella chicken salad as my entree, and everything was delicious. Everyone I was with loved their meals, and our server was attentive; it was a really good experience! This was also the first time I used the OpenTable Yelp app integration to make a reservation, and it was extremely convenient - I will definitely use it again instead of calling to make reservations if the option is available. read more

Sat at the bar and ordered a House Tossed Salad to start. Large portion with cucumbers, tomatoes, egg, bagel croutons, and bacon. Fantastic! That would have sufficed as my dinner but I already ordered the Pacific Northwest Oyster dinner which was served with a buttery rice pilaf and a green bean and pepper sauté. The oysters were fried perfectly and tasted great, but there was a little too much batter for my taste. I'm sure some would love it. The oysters were served with a dill tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Service and ambience at the bar was great and bartender was very attentive to everyone. They have a happy hour menu from 4-6pm and after 9pm which is a great deal but I came right in between and missed it. Red Robin next door looked more lively thn this place. We went in as a family and the first thing they said was that they were slow. I mean literally someone had to get up off their chair to come wait us to a table. Very disappointing. We should have taken that as a hint to leave...cuz the food was not any better than the service. Our waitress, however, was amazing. She came and asked us for water every few minutes and made sure that we had everything we need. We ordered buffalo wings they were raw. For dinner we had a steak that we asked for medium rare and it was rare. My burger and fries were cold. The ribs were good and the drinks were good. Tacos were good but the chicken was chewy. This is one of those places, I had no idea what to expect walking in.... However, the side salad came with bits of real bacon. I know what you, the reader, is thinking. BACON IS AWESOME! That is generally an exciting bonus, but I'm a pescatarian (annoying, right?)...looking back at the menu, it was written there, albeit in the middle of the description...but it's right there. Came here for dad's birthday, we had a reservation for 7 people and had a nice round table in the back as we were seated promptly. As we entered, we gave the hostess a cake that we brought with us so they could bring it to our table as surprise after dinner. Appetizers were okay we ordered spinach dip and calamari, nothing special. Service was extremely slow we were at restaurant for almost 2 hours and the first hour we were just waiting for the entrees to come out as we kept nibbling on the crumbs and left over appetizers. I had the steel-fish with cauliflower and some greens, it was point on. Tasty, flaky and the veggies and chickpea dip complimented it well. If I were to base my review on my food only, I would have easily given them four stars at the least however everybody else's food was par at best. The baja fish taco was battered to the the bone, the bbq chicken came drenched in sauce with overdone fries. The waitress only came once to our table and that was for clean up and even that, half the plates were left on table as they brought out the cake. Maybe non of the above (except mediocre food) would deter me from going there again, however their service quality and lead time definitely left a bad taste in my mouth...On second thought, I'd rather not go. read more

Food was really good. Service was run of the mill. Atmosphere was nice. They say is by a window and it was a bit chilly. There were plenty of tables away from windows, but it's whatever.
