JUST DON'T DO IT! Please trust me, it's not worth it. This all started with a water leak that I had that damaged a freshly renovated townhome in the Brooklyn Park area. I couldn't find anyone that would respond any quicker to the water removal call, so Stanley Steemer was my only option. They came out, gave me an estimate for nearly $4000 and said I needed to pay up front. (Because they didn't care to deal with insurance claims) I clearly didn't have the money up front, so that was the first issue...should have been a red flag. They began the water extraction process with fans and de humidifiers. They began taking out walls, ceilings, and carpet pad, then left the fans and de humidifiers to dry the place out of the next 3 or 4 days. During the 'cleanup' process, if you could call it that, they used garbage cans that I supplied, my own bath towels to mop up messes (because they didn't have towels...? YOU'RE A CLEANING COMPANY!!!!) and I had to request that they cover the bamboo stairwell that they were tracking water and sheet-rock all over. I eventually had to find my own blanket to lay over the stairwell to cover the steps so that there wasn't further damage on an undamaged area of the house. I had to request that they also come back to clean up all the garbage/remnants of ceiling and walls that they left behind. (Not exactly sure what the $4000 is paying for....I was on my hands and knees mopping up water with my own bath towels) Later on, I found that they had cracked the tile upstairs where there was no water damage whatsoever...I'm assuming one of the fans dropped on it...it had to have been heavy to break freshly laid ceramic tile. All in all, this was a complete nightmare. Albert, and Henry were not extremely helpful, and generally not very knowledgeable. I would not recommend them to anyone, for any reason. If you have a hoover vacuum, trust me, that will probably work much better than Stanley Steemer will. read more

The service was fine however, they charged us more than was quoted without confirming the change with us. We believed we would be charged for 2 areas (as quoted), but they charged for 3 areas which was $75 more than the original price. I understand that there are differences when the staff arrives on the premises, however, I would expect that they verbally let you know of the change before going ahead with the work. I called the local office and spoke with a manager and the corporate Customer Service - one did not acknowledge the error by the staff who came to clean and the other said they could do nothing to help. It is too bad, we were happy with the service but do not really want to work with this company again. read more

My tile and grout needed to be cleaned but I didn't want to get down on my hands and knees any longer. They advertised a $99.00 special so when I booked on line this $99.00 convoluted special came to $174.00 plus tax for a kitchen, hallway and laundry room which seemed reasonable, so I booked the service. On the day of the cleaning, the minute they came through the door they were upselling services, grout coloring, area rugs, carpet, etc. I said NO this is not what I signed up for. They asked if I had any concerns. I showed them an area (6") of missing and loose grout which I would fix after the entire floor was cleaned. They said they could fix the area, I said does that 6" area cost anything, answer yes. During the introductory process they said they had 1 - 1 1/2 hours so if I needed anything else done they had time, I declined again! They did a reasonable job, I was pleased with the cleaning. After they were done one of them came in with grout colorant applied samples to the floor and said they could make the floors look brand new! I was getting irritated... The other guy came in with my invoice which was $75.00 more than my quote! I showed him the quote and he said oh but you had us do the bathroom which was not part of the original quote. My powder room is off the hallway and is 35" x 72" with MIMINAL grout lines. That was my bad for assuming they would clean this area. He made small talk to avoid the subject, didn't offer any discount or apologies. I was done just wanted them gone! Instead of these guys upselling me services during the entire process, I wish they would have had a discussion with me regarding costs prior to beginning work so we were all on the same page. If they had done that I would have trusted them and maybe given them more business while they were at my home! Hein sight I should have checked their reviews before contracting them. read more

This was my FIRST time trying Stanley Steamer.Scheduled 12-4 pm,got a call around 3:40 saying they would be late, I said how late? Well hopefully by 5 pm... hopefully??? I had an appointment early evening, that is why I made the appointment when I did, asked how about the next morning? Well, they couldn't promise that would work. Cancelled the appointment. Very dissatisfied, thought they were a better company than this,I am soo glad I read the reviews after having this issue,should have read them sooner. They cleaned the two bedrooms so quickly that I had my doubts in how thorough they were. Upon inspection there was one spot that they said wouldn't come out. i requested they clean it again and it did come out, confirming only one pass over the spot in the first place. They also said the darkened trail where I walk everyday wouldn't come out due to carpet wear. I didn't say much because it could very well be. However, I just spilled something on that trail and cleaned it with my Hoover steamvac (which is average at best in cleaning) AND the darkened trail around the spill came out. So I cleaned the rest of darkened trail myself. Much better now. Again confirming they only did one pass at cleaning the rug. They also cleaned 5x8 rug and left sopping wet mess on my wooden floor all around the rug edges that I had to wipe up. I think if they made a mess they should clean it. So I'm sitting on my front porch enjoying the beautiful day that we're having today. It couldn't be anymore perfect, but that was where I was wrong. I look over the horizon and see the glint of a yellow van coming right towards my home. I had then remembered that I ordered a Stanley Steemer crew to come clean the grotesque, bacteria-infested paneling on the floor - which, mind you, is what normal people usually call carpets. The van pulls up and the first person I see to greet me at my door is this very tall (and when I say tall I mean HUGE) man named Ethan. Ethan had this look about him that was very intimidating but yet very relaxing as well. He had a very big smile and seemed eager to get to work right away, I thought he was gonna vacuum the driveway! Behind this gargantuan tree of a human being was is this small Asian fellow named Tony. The amount of professionalism this young man showed was impeccable. He had a smile that could light up the haunted basement of my late grandmother and lemme tell ya, that's pretty neat! Anyways, these young men come into my home and get straight to business. They discussed with me what I wanted clean and what I didn't. I had previously said that I wanted a certain room cleaned and I changed my mind last minute and was hoping they wouldn't be too inconvenienced with my choice. They took it very well and it reduced my price as well! They got right to work as I stood back and sipped on my lemonade iced tea - very tasteful. I'll just say really quick that Ethan's technique with a vacuum made me go nuts. The amount of efficiency with his movement made it seem like I was watching a Rocky Blaboa training montage. I even remember singing "Eye of the Tiger" to myself as he would go up and down the stairs with the attitude of a champion! Tony and Ethan both kept great conversations going with their family friendly humor and charisma, I felt like I was a part of the cleaning crew for a second! As soon as they were done, I complimented them on making my sandpaper floor padding look and feel like genuine carpeting once more. I almost felt a faint feeling of sadness as I saw that yellow van ride off into the sunset, to go off on another quest to make carpets clean for the rest of the community. We were very pleased with recent cleaning job on our carpet, tile/grout, and 2 showers. The booking process was very smooth. I booked through the St Paul location. Pablo and Fernando promptly came out within two days of my call. They were a pleasure to work with on my challenging cleaning project. It definitely took extra work on their part. Our 10 yr old carpeted stairs were impossibly stained/dirty and they were able to make them clean and presentable. Ditto our our foyer grout. I was pleasantly surprised they could do our showers. They successfully removed bad stains that the last carpet cleaning crew two years ago failed to remove! Will use again. read more

The carpet cleaning was fine, but I wish they called ahead as they promised! They were supposed to call 20 minutes ahead of time to say that they are on the way. I was happy about it because it would give me enough time to get all my animals in a safe place so that they would not escape. They came unexpectedly. I had some nasty stains in my hall and master bedroom,when the carpet was still wet it looked like they were gone. Now that is dry you can still see the stains they have faded but still there. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I had Stanley Steamer to my home for tile/grout cleaning. The tile wasn't bad, it was the grout in my bathrooms that really needed cleaning. The guy who came to my house was personable enough and said he could clean everything up just fine. After he started he then said he didn't have the right equipment to scrub the grout. (He was using a different truck or something to that effect). Then he said he didn't have the right chemical cleaning agent as that was in a different truck. My husband told him the grout doesn't look any different! He took off some money from our bill due to the lousy job but so what. I sent in a survey from Stanley Steamer and they did call me back, unfortunately I wasn't home. I've been playing phone tag ever since, leaving 2 voice mails with no return. I will NEVER use Stanley Steamer again. I can't trust them . Not having the correct cleaning stuff or the right scrub brushes they never should have started the job. A TOTAL RIP OFF!!! read more

I had Stanley Steemer out to my home on September 2. Very pleasant people who arrived on time, but didn't want to put forth any extra effort to remove some carpet stains. They CLAIMED the stains would not come out due to the wear and tear on the carpeting itself. The truth? After they left, my wife and I were able to remove the stains using a brush and some soapy water. All in all, I can only conclude they were lazy, wanting to get the job done quickly, get paid, and leave. There's no way I'll be using this company again. read more

I had a tenant move out of a single family home which I wanted to list for sale. I live out of state so I thought that booking a known brand like Stanley Steemer would be a slam dunk when it came to carpet cleaning. I booked cleaning for the entire 2000 square foot home and added $186 for deodorizing, total was $586. My realtor showed up the day after I received my "Cleaning Complete" invoice and asked "When was I going to get the carpet cleaned". He said it was as filthy as when the tenant moved out, didn't even look like it had been cleaned. no path marks you usually see when cleaning or vaccuuming is done and the carpet was filthy. I called Stanley Steemer and spoke to a Manager to sent a crew back out the next day. My realtor arrived towards the end of the service and said that now the carpet looked clean. A totally different situation from the previous day. However...... After listing the home a month later we started to get feedback that there was still a pet odor. Not urine just a dog smell from the carpet. I get to thinking that maybe they only cleaned and never did the $186 dollar deodorizing job. I figure if they never cleaned it the first time how would I know if it was really deoderized. So I call back and tell them what happened and that either they 1 never deodorized or 2 it isn't working. The best they were willing to do was come re-deodorize for $100.00 no way am I paying them additional money for a service that was either never provided or didn't work. So based on this experience I will never use Stanley Steemer for any property again. read more

In a nutshell, what they advertised is not what I got. I have a tile bathroom, tile in the shower, half-way up the wall, etc., and I booked a tile cleaning for the bathroom. They cleaned only the floors and said they don't do walls and showers. The 25% of my bathroom that did get cleaned looked great, I will say. I would give them even 4 stars because of a misunderstanding but when I spoke with someone about my disappointment (it doesn't say anywhere that they don't do beyond floors) he was pretty unresponsive and didn't do anything to try and make me a happy returning customer. We utilized their services to clean two upholstered chairs and matching ottoman and they made them all look brand new again! Before they left, asked if we needed any other services done and mentioned that they clean cars. We took them up on it and and hour+ later, we had two cars that also look brand new (inside). These cars looked like we just drove them off the lot and they were a total mess to start with--food and beverage stains, grease stains, dog hair/smell (they even vacuumed and cleaned the cars' ceilings and car mats in addition to all the upholstrey and carpet). We are VERY PLEASED with their services, and the technicians were fast, kind and courteous. I have already recommended them to many and will use their services again. I scheduled a carpet cleaning for my rental property in Minneapolis on a Friday morning with over a week of advance notice and provided full detail of my service needs. This was a direct repeat of a previous job done by Stanley Steemer three years prior. Shoukd be pretty easy, right? Not so much. The technician arrived with a truck-mounted cleaner rather than the necessary portable unit. We called the regional manager who told us that a portable unit was not available that day and they didn't offer service over the weekend. The truck-mounted unit would've caused issues with my condo association leaving public doors ajar. In short, they took no responsibility for their error or offered any solutions for me. Given my new renters were moving in the next day, i found another cleaning service with a portable cleaner available and called the manager to cancel. The regional manager was extreme rude and insensitive to my situation. It was Stanley Steemer's incompetance that caused me to cancel and i didn't deserve to be treated so horribly. I will not be using Stanley Steemer again. read more

Brennan and Abel were both friendly and professional. They did a great job on our carpet. We have multiple pets and they removed every pet stain! Brennan spent extra time in the high traffic areas and went over the carpet several times. I wanted my dining room chairs done at the last minute and they were flexible enough to clean those as well. He arrived within the time frame and even called a head of time narrowing that time frame down for me. He was very professional. He explained everything that I had order on the phone and informed me of other services that they offered. He is very knowledgeable of the business and I never felt pressured to add anything. I would definitely use them again and request Billy to do the job. read more

I hired Stanley Steemer from Minneapolis, MN to clean the carpets in my mom's 1,000 sq ft condo to put it up for sale. I was not impressed. High traffic areas look like they weren't touched, and still have stains here and there. If I had know that I would get these results for nearly $300, I would not have wasted the money. The realtor said that I'll likely have to replace the carpets now (she couldn't even tell that they were cleaned), so I'm very disappointed. read more

The portable cleaner , the first crew came threw and was like we don't have a portiable which wasn't true , every truck has one , cleaner in the truck , they took one look and were like nope not doing this job , my carpets were not that bad would have taken 30 minutes , then the second crew came at the allocated time at 12 which I originally had booked and they made it look even worst , Maybe u should hire people that know how to work and do the Job correctly . I signed up on line but never got a confirmation or reminder. We had already removed excess furniture and all tchotchkes. I called and was told there was no record of my order so that meant another week of chaos. I went back on line and rescheduled, this time receiving a confirmation. (The crew showed up on the original date (???) but I was not home). My chosen time frame was 8am - 1pm so I expected a call on the new service date to let me know the approximate time they would arrive. Didn't happen. As previously stated, there were so many add-ons that the final bill was DOUBLE what I had signed up for on line. Both gentlemen were friendly and competent. I added the cleaning of my love seat but after seeing the results, I wish I had saved the money. There are still dirty looking spots in the carpet that I was told are 'wear spots' that they can't do anything about (the carpet was installed in 2011). All said, I will probably not do this again. I have a Bissell Pro-Heat and will use that as it does as good a job as the nearly $600!!! job that Stanley Steemer did. Also, I was told I would automatically receive an itemized receipt via email which I did not receive and had to call to request. Later- We just had a full grown tree planted in our front yard to the tune of $950. When I went to our only outdoor spigot to water it, the spigot was broken. I called the customer service rep said who said the mgr wouldn't call me back until 3 days later. When I explained that Stanley Steemer would not only have to fix the spigot but buy us a new tree if it dies for lack of water, she said the mgr would call me back in 2 hours. 3 days later and I'm still waiting. Also, the downstairs began to wreak of mildew on the 2nd day. Turning on the dehumidifier helped but now I'm worried that the carpet got too wet and will grow mildew. Also managed to hook the hose up to the bathroom faucet and feed out the window to water the tree. What a pain! I will keep you posted as to what, if anything, this company does to fix the spigot. read more
