We requested for our carpets and vents to be cleaned with Stanley Steamer. They came in and scoped out how many vents we had to prep for the cleaning and came another day to do the work. We also scheduled for carpet cleaning and the person to clean all the carpets was helpful and communicative. They did a great job, and also cleaned our furniture, which we requested. Horrible! Some young and inadequate men came do to the work back in July. The van broke down for hours and then they said they were done. We were too overwhelmed with being new homeowners we never followed up. Vents still dirty. No follow up was done a few months ago when I complained after another more reputable company came by and said it was dirty still and was appalled. read more

Unfortunately the issue of fine white dust all over everything after a remodel, was no different after their team left. We had 9 vents/ducting to clean. 2 were not even opened by their team. The less than 1 hour length of their visit, even concerned their supervisor. NOTE: The customer has no recourse if the contracted service is not performed, other than having them come back and try again. Another appointment and 4 hour window, same equipment and cleaning method, moving all the furniture and then having to clean up after them, again. We chose to stop the madness after clearly seeing the issue in their before/after pictures. There were visible piles of white dust on the thresholds between the vent covers and ductwork, that they had even dragged their equipment thru. They stood behind their policy of no refund even after seeing our pictures of what their team left behind, after we recleaned it all ourselves. These friendly and polite young workers with very little experience seem reliable, but neither they nor their management will own their failings & cover-ups when they know that they have stained and damaged your natural fibers upholstery & nylon carpet. Instead of being forthright & forthcoming, they immediately become unavailable via phone, then later lie to deny their own speedy workmanship with their own reckless use of Stanley chemicals and their own personal chemicals. Though, they remain friendly & polite, they speak only to reframe your complaint and accusation into what they claim it to be. And that's when they twist your words to document that you "...would do business with them again." And that's how they end their Steemer transaction with you. Even if you don't mind that your upholstery & carpet will not look much cleaner than before, you should proceed only with 100% supervision. They don't tell you ahead of time that YOU must have utility sinks in your basement/garage for them to use otherwise. I move tomorrow and they told me I'll have to reschedule when the weather is warmer. How does an IL company not be prepared to offer services in the cold when it comes every year? I had my carpet cleaned here in early March. With the virus and stay at home orders I did not get a chance to call for about a month in regards to a major stain that reappeared. It took over a week for someone to call me and then - Oh we only give a 10 day period to come back out for issues. We will charge you to return. WHAT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, with the state of the country today, they rate ZERO in my book, for their high fee's they should be guaranteeing their product, when my carpet needs cleaning this will be the last place I call. Fast, simple, easy. I called a few places to check different prices for having my carpets cleaned. While other place may have been cheaper, I preferred the quickness of this business. I was able to set up the appointment online. Some other businesses did not offer that. The prices weren't cheap. However, I found them to be fair. The cleaner didnt hassle me to upgrade this or that. He offered me scotch guard at the end, I declined. He then continued his work. I was happy with the outcome. I did notice my screen door was a bit damaged after the technician left. It was an easy fix with my drill. I do wish he simply mentioned the damage, instead of me finding it for myself. Other than that, no complaints. read more

The manager of the Grayslake office (I think his name is Mike) came out immediately to give us an estimate and was very responsive to our needs and concerns. We got an appointment quickly for the actual job. The equipment used seemed to be high quality. The two men who came out took extra care to make sure we were happy with the job. And.... We were! After my son got sick on the area rug in our bedroom, I had Stanley Steemer come out to clean the spot on the rug. What I thought would be a little spot cleaning quickly turned into having to have the entire rug taken offsite for cleaning. I was hesitant to spend $500 to clean a spot that was about 1'x1' but after some negotiation I agreed to do it for $400. I actually do believe that the rug needed to be taken offsite for cleaning but they were less than honest when it came to selling the service. First, they said they would move the furniture to get the rug and swiffer the floor before putting the furniture back. However, when the left the room was a disaster. I had to clean the floors and move all of the furniture back by myself. Second, they said they would dispose of the old pad under the rug after I agreed to purchase a new pad as part of the deal. Again, no doubt that we needed a new pad. But instead of disposing of the old one, they chose to throw it in our alley. I discovered this the next day when I went to take the trash out. Third, when they took the rug offsite, I was told that it usually takes two weeks but they were really light at this time so I would for sure get it back in less than two weeks. I specifically asked if I would have it by 10/25 (they took it on 10/14) as we were hosting a party that weekend and I wanted it down before that. They assured me that it would be done before then. When I called today (10/24) I was told that it takes 2 1/2 weeks and that the rug would be ready until 10/28, the day after our party. I'm still waiting on the rug so I can't speak to the quality of the actual cleaning but I definitely would not recommend using this branch of SS based on the service I experienced. read more

I try to be patient. I know that the freeze/thaw hit at the worst time and people want their holiday, but honestly, this is just unacceptable. The insurance company called these clowns and I was dubious, but I went with their recommendation. They came and just spent an hour taking pictures. I thought they were going to give the inspector a thorough report. The didn't. They said they would clean everything up. They didn't. They said they had to get an asbestos test. Which really meant that they didn't want to work because it was new years and they were done. I get that so I didn't get upset. Got the asbestos test the same day. Results were negative, as of course they would be, never heard from Stanley. I called, sent email, nothing . The insurance adjuster must have gotten a hold of them because they called this morning only to let me know they can't come until Friday or Saturday. Meanwhile the insurance adjuster is supposed to come on Friday. Every thing is still soaked and I have a tarp up to keep it warm in here. The guy that called was a total jerk. He wasn't interested in helping. I told him Friday or Saturday was unacceptable he said "okay, I'll just tell the insurance company that you don't want us back out" I can't believe I've waited all this time. Horrible company run don't walk. Insurance companies, DUMP THIS PROVIDER. I assume that would wake them up. FYI, I did send the information requested to the email address below. This is the second duct cleaning company to come out because the first one didn't do a good job. I thought Stanley Steamer since they are a known company, would do a better job. Well I found out yesterday that they were just as bad. Neither company removed most of the vents to get to the ducts. I had a company come out yesterday that put in my HVAC system, and we noticed that several vents were never opened because the screws were painted over from years ago, when we opened and removed the vents (we damaged the paint around the vents because they were painted over the edge) and the vents had silver tape blocking the air and found pieces of concrete and dirt in the vents. So that was a poor job of so called vents and ducts cleaning!! I took pictures too. Follow any one around your house to make sure they are doing the job you are paying them for! Stanley Steamer was prompt in coming out to give me a estimate, we agreed on the cost and they were able to send a crew out the same day which was great. The two workers showed up and went right to work and I believe they did a great job. So why the one star? Well, after the workers left, I noticed that my Dewalt impact driver was missing which I had been using rightbefore they arrived. I have been involved in the construction industry for 40 years and I know that at the end of a day with tools laying around that you could accidentally pick up someone's tools. Cleaner guys showed up and tried to upsell me saying they had needed a portable and it would be a minimum of $200 I had a confirmation of the 120 in writing and they refused to honor it. My job downtown cancelled due to looting in Chicago so I decided to have the carpet cleaned by professionals. I had 3 extra cats for a few months and they left spots on my bedroom carpet. just throwing up and hairballs and such, nothing gross. I scheduled an appointment at 8am and the cleaning crew showed up the same day in just a few hours. The two guys (Aaron and Ismael) were courteous, helpful, and very professional. They were on time and polite. The carpets they cleaned came out better than I expected. However, two days later, we went to put a new toilet paper on the dispenser and discovered an inch of water under the bathroom sink where the hose was connected. Everything under the cabinet was soaked! Kleenex, toilet paper, boxes of bandaids, boxes of wet ones! Anything not in plastic was destroyed. The workers need to be more careful!!! read more

Guy was in and out in an hour. Did four rooms, stairs, hallway. He left the carpets absolutely soaked!!! Didn't spend enough time sucking up the water/soap. I know, I did it in college. He sprayed pre treatment all over the furniture and wood floors and didn't wipe it up (I did). We've had a few different companies clean the carpet over the years. The tech was friendly and pleasant. I feel if I had stepped in and requested a lot more water removal, we would have been fine. 5 hour window for an appointment for this job ($300) is ridiculous! When we called to have a tech come back out to suck up more solution, they wanted to come back tomorrow. My wife insisted on having someone come out immediately They said they would send someone. They did send another tech and it helped. Day 2 and carpet is still wet but drying with a fan. They didn't bring fans to speed up the drying process, like some other companies. Just really poor service from start to finish. The techs convinced me from the moment they walked in my rugs needed the in-plant cleaning, which was more than double the price. I agreed. One rug ultimately came back identical and the other barely better, and I was told it was because of wear and they only clean things like dirt...that I had signed the invoice that showed it, yada yada -- we know the drill. We had a water restoration job done and their equipment continued to run poorly and shut off, the crew left things unplugged when they left the house multiple times (UNPLUGGED!), we had to roll up the carpet along the walls AND move the furniture away from the walls OURSELVES so they would dry because the crew put the furniture IN FRONT of the walls... Makes no sense. We've had TERRIBLE customer service... Oh and they lie about charges. I've been waiting two days for someone to call me back about this. Quite disappointed. Had them come out on Oct 3, 2018 and when they went to move my area rug under my very expensive glass table to be cleaned, not only did they crack the glass portion of the base but while moving it, deeply gouged my wood floor beneath it with their moving equipment. I have been trying since then to solve the repair on this but not only do I get a run around from their office but even their insurance co. Corvel whose appraiser came out to determine the damages and cost, will not get back to me. If you care about your flooring and furniture, beware of this company. I had these guys come and clean my carpet several months ago for pet stains and was so unsatisfied with the quality. For WEEKS it smelled like stale urine and the worst part was it was in my bedroom so there was no escaping it!! I never even called them back because I did NOT was the smell to be reactivated if they tried to clean it again. They didn't even get rid of all the stains which was just as bad! Will definitely never use them again especially since I have found a much much better quality company to use who can get all stains and odors out when carpet was in worse condition then when stanley steemers tried. I had two chairs, a sofa plus an area rug, cleaned, deodorized and protected, . Several years ago I had the chairs and sofa cleaned by Sears. Not such a great job, but okay. Now I was thinking seriously of having all of the furniture reupholstered until I saw the price tag - $3,000. Nuts! The guy with Stanley Steemer who did most of the work, Martin, was phenomenal. Not only was he friendly and knowledgeable, but my 20 year old furniture looks fantastic!! And the area rug has never looked as good as it does now. I have sent it out for cleaning at double the price and it it looks better than it ever has before. I would recommend Stanley Steemer and especially Martin, to anyone needing this work. I have given Stanley Steemer numerous chances but I think this was the last straw. I had carpets cleaned in our home for a party and Father's Day. They were to have cleaned 5 rooms and the stairs. It took about one hour. The workers went through the motion but didn't clean the carpet. I am realistic, I understand that all particles can't be cleaned but the dirt in the carpet can be. I asked the crew to reclean the living room and they cleaned it like the other carpets should have been cleaned instead of going through the motions. The idea is to get the work done quickly and somewhere in the process they forgot to clean the carpet. read more

The Stanley Steemer crew was here this week and I can't believe how well things went. They called and asked if they could show up EARLY!!!! They were able to clean some really dirty carpets in a short amount of time. We had moved most of the furniture ourselves, but they took care around the heavy stuff that had to stay where it was. Our experience included one up-sell after another. My initial order was just to clean the carpet. If I did everything they pitched the total rose to over $500.00. The "lead' crew member gave the sales pitch for stain resistance and demonstrated their tile cleaner and color sealer on a visible part of a bathroom floor without getting my permission. The "clean spot" was noticeable compared to the rest of the flooring and if I paid, they would clean the rest of the floor. Seems to me they should consult with the customer first and demonstrate in an area that isn't so noticeable if the customer doesn't want this extra service. In the end, and after much discussion, the manager agreed to clean the bathroom tile to minimize the impact of the color sealer. Perhaps some training/coaching opportunities could have improved our experience. read more

Air duct cleaning prices no longer available on line, must have estimator come to the house. I'm moving so asked if the estimator could then clean the ducts immediately & was told yes. That's not true. Had to schedule another appt the next day. Warned that our house was freshly painted, estimator wrote it on the quote, proceeded to bang into ceilings & doorways throughout the house! Next day cleaners came - dumb as a box of rocks. We have wall to wall air vents that they had no idea how to clean! My husband had to tell them how. They left mud from their shoes and the stuff that they blew out of the vents in piles all thru the house! Their contract says they'll clean up after themselves...not true! My husband cleaned everything up and left the house. Two days later, he returned to find that they NEVER turned the furnace back on at the main switch! Thank goodness it was a mild few days or we would have had pipes burst and water damage throughout the house!! We will not be using them again. Will find someone who knows what they're doing and owns their own business vs. sending untrained personnel to our home. read more

The carpet was in terrible condition. There were very bad pet stains and the carpet had not been taken care of, as the resident had been ill for several months with a dog and two cats in the house. When the job was done, the carpet looked like new. I would definitely use again. read more

I also had Stanley Steemer, and they were terrible. My carpeting looked no better when they left than when they came. They then told me they couldn't get the stains off my carpet.
