I've been to Stan's Blue Note a couple times and I didn't hate it the first time. Here's what's unique about SBN: Mason jars. That's pretty much it. Look through the list of what people are saying.... you can find basically any of those things in Dallas and all over Greenville Ave. The biggest thing that turned me off about SBN is that I asked the price of a pitcher of Shiner and got the reply "50 dollars." After giving a semi-smirk and waiting for the real reply, the bartender replies, "Our cheapest beer is Bud Select for 6 bucks." Uh, yeah dude. Great. I don't want Bud Select and that's why I didn't ask about it. Maybe some SMU douche didn't tip you or your dog died or you're jealous of my full head of hair and healthy weight. I really have no idea and I don't care. The rudeness is unnecessary. Some places overcharge for Shiner, which is why I asked. Only reason I'm giving them two stars is because I think some people genuinely could like this bar. Our waitress was friendly and there are some positives. With that said, there is nothing at SBN that really puts it over the top in my mind, and it is very dirty and was understaffed when I was there. There's better out there, much better. read more

While in Dallas for Thanksgiving, I figured I'd check out Stan's Blue Note for the Florida vs. Florida State game. Stan's is supposed to be the official bar for Dallas-based University of Florida alumni. There was a decent number of alumni there, and I wasn't expecting a huge turnout, but I was expecting a little better atmosphere. Sully's House in Chicago and the Old Key Lime House near West Palm Beach are both Gator dive bars, and they were great. Stan's was just ok. I know they have their loyal patrons, and maybe Thanksgiving weekend is a bad time to judge a bar, however, I just didn't love it. I will say the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I wanted to drink local beers, and they were sure to point me in the right direction. My glass was rarely empty, and our server was always asking if we needed anything else. In the end, my brother, his wife, and my dad all left with the same opinion. It's cool because you can watch the game anywhere, but it's just a dingy place with subpar fried food. The other UF alumni bar is called Red Dog Right, and I'll have to check that place out next time I'm in town. Go Gators! read more

Where do I start? The bartenders are awesome, friendly, no b.s. kind of people. The customer's are also super laid back and friendly...which really with those two components how can you not have a great night?! They've run great specials through out the week. Wednesday is Trivia night which is definitely a friendly, competitive, blast...I've used friendly multiple times in this review which is really the biggest point here it's a friendly, laid back, divey enviornment. Stan's Blue Note is a great BAR. Its a place you can get a large group together or just a few friends. The beer specials are pretty good, I stick to pitchers for the most part. They have about 20 beers on tap and they range from PBR to high end stuff. The food is solid bar food. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but the burgers and fried stuff is all good when watching a game or just plowing through some beers. If you are in the corners or outside, you should just flag down any staff to get service, I have noticed when it gets busy they all can help. read more

I must have driven by Stan's a million times in my younger days - tooling between what was then Fishdance and Royal Rack, back before the Neighborhood Walmart replaced the Whole Foods. But my big man's buddy told us to head that way to meet him up, so we did. This is a fun little sports bar - lots of TVs, pool tables, shuffleboard, and a bunch of random crap on the walls. I enjoyed the crowd - it seemed a little more laid back than what I typically expect from Dallas. We just visited and stuck with beer. They have Shiner on tap - and that makes me happy. They have two bars - the one you first come to seems to have a little less to offer than the one in the back, but our barkeep, Mo, was super-awesome. The bathrooms could've used a bit more toilet paper. Nothin' like drip drying. But all said, we had a great time in an atypical place. We'd definitely go back! read more

We Dallasites are so transparent. When it's freezing rain, we hide in our closets. When it's 55 degrees outside or higher, we put our flip-fops on quicker than you can say "who's in for day drinking?!" Greenville is one of the greatest strips of life when it comes to enjoying the oncoming spring weather. Stan's Blue Note, which is right next to the famous Cafe Brazil and across the street from Blue Goose, has one of the better patios in the area to post up on for the afternoon. Always a pretty hipster crowd mixed with sports fans and bikers, Stan's serves all their refreshing beer in mason jars and asks nothing from you except to have fun and enjoy the outdoors. No need to dress in anything but shorts and a t-shirt if the weather permits and all you're looking for is a jar of beer and good company. Make Stan's a go-to as soon as you possibly can. read more

I have been going to Stan's Blue Note for for about 7 years or so, most of the time against my choice. When it is a big group of us going out, we usually decide to meet up at Stan's Blue Note first b/c we know that we will be able to find each other easily as its not normally crowded before we make plans on where to spend the rest of our night. The last few times I have been, the staff has been pretty rude or overworked and a little slow. A few of the bartenders are quick and nice, but its not the norm. The paito is great to hang out, but after a few hours the pic nic tables don'c cut it. Sports on the TVs is normally what people are wanting to see. The pool tables have seen better days. The location of Stan's is not one where it is easily accessible to the rest of Greenville via walking b/c its stuck in the middle...but its great to meet up and decide where to go from there b/c its not normally packed. read more

So, the name reminds me of Toby Keith's song called Big Blue Note...only this place isn't depressing. Got there arounf 6:30 for the Cowboys game at 7p and there was still ample parking, sure as the night goes on it may get more difficult. It's a wide open bar with good drink specials ($2.50 for Texas beers), pleanty of seating, and lots of television screens to view the games. They offer a pretty decent selection of bar food. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and wasn't disappointed. Large dog friendly patio with screens out there as well. Nice and cool night for enjoying. Some ladies working for Crown Royal came by with free tshirts, stress balls, headphones and drinks...who doesn't like something for free? Anyway, I am a fan and I'd go back. read more

I've also been going to Stans since the 20th century. They have the best BBQ wings ever and the junior dip is pretty darn good unless they put too much guac and cool it down. The chicken sandwich also rocks. Seriously. It used be on Tuesdays they had pint night and you could keep the Newcastle or Rolling Rock or whatever beer your pint was served in. If yo'ure just bored scroll down for the review from 2008 where the poster rants and raves about the fact that the $2 beers are in mason jars...she be glad to pay $2 for a pint, but not a mason jar -- what a rip off. PSSST don't tell anyone but mason jars come in two sizes -- quart and...guess what...PINT! Pint glasses look like they hold more because of the thicker glass. Went here yesterday for the first time. I was drawn into this place because od their selection of college teams they had on display on their windows. Being from The Ohio State University, and seeing two teams from "that state up North" and not Ohio State peaked my interest. This is a really chill bar. I had a $3 Margarita, sat on the patio and just enjoyed a beautiful day. This place is very pooch friendly and has a laid back and relaxed vibe. Love it. It's dank and smells a bit inside, especially every time you pass the bathroom. The Geeks who drink quiz nights are a bit boring. On big game nights, they set up a fairly small size TV outsidein one corner with the game, but the crowd isn't usually that considerate. While watching a game, I repeatedly had to ask people to stop standing right in front of the screen and having conversations about their friend's party last week. It wasn't like I was sitting way back either, I was ten feet from the screen. We've also been here and had a-hole customers yell at us about leaning against the shuffleboard table when they had reserved the table for the hour. Mind you, they weren't playing at the time, they were at the bar ordering drinks and came over and yelled at us for leaning against "their" table. I tried coming here about 10 times and haven't enjoyed it, though the staff is friendly. I guess I just don't mesh well with the crowd. read more

Went here to watch a college football game, and had a pretty great time! Plus, my team won, muhaha :D Advice: get there early if you want to watch any popular sporting event. I was there at 6:30 for a 7:00 game, and my group ended up using fold-up chairs around the pool table, which had been topped with plywood to make a tabletop. If you get there early, there are plenty of tables, and EVERYWHERE has a view of a TV. Everywhere. So many TVs. There were $9 pitcher specials for Bud, Bud Light, and Michelob Ultra. Domestic beers were $12 and premium beers $15. I got some cheesy fries and they were decent tasting, and you definitely got a generous amount for $7! read more

One of the managers here is an absolute lunatic. The guy was seemingly drunk while at work and acting extremely unprofessional. Some of the bartenders even said he was drunk and "having a bad day". He's aggressive towards customers and unnecessarily rude. Tried to get his name but he refused. He was heckling with customers and made our experience uncomfortable. Learn to talk to your patrons instead of yell at them.... and maybe try not drinking on the job. This place is falling apart and a joke. read more

We game here to watch a noon Cowboys game. I actually found this place on Yelp after searching for "Best Places to Watch a Cowboys Game in Dallas". Thank you, Yelp fraaaaands! When we arrived, the place was virtually empty. At first glance, the joint seems pretty small, but once you gotta get up to go potty, you see the grandiose sports dive bar that this place is known for. It has one front bar (which is the one we sat at) and one middle bar (which is a three-sided bar). The bartender, a gentleman with a full head of facial hair and glasses, was the best guy! He was extremely accommodating to everything we asked for, even going so far as to cover up our drinks and save our spot when I had to run to the 7-11 down the street for BC Powder (ugh day drinking and my head!!). Drinks were poured just right, and the food we ordered, hot wings, were cooked wonderfully. They were nice and spicy and crispy! Just right! We will most definitely be back. read more

I have loved Stan's since I moved here. They have a great patio, pitchers of beer, and inside they have a million TVs to watch whatever game takes your fancy. Generally I find it to be pretty casual, although you will occasionally get the more prissy people. They also have pretty decent burgers to soak all the beer up with. And on TX/OU weekend I find this to be THE place to go...just get there early. read more

Holy canoli. Stans is the place to go. For food, if we're looking to build a base for later that night, Stans has a huge amount of sandwiches and salads to fill us up. If we want drinks, the bartenders are amazing (Miles and Erica included) and we can get good pours of what we want to drink. They have tons of TVs and always have the big game on. So my latest experience bumped up the star count at Stan's. I hosted the Blondes vs. Brunettes Kick-Off party there and had a FABULOUS experience working with the owners and managers of the bar. Don't know about the food and sit down service here, but if you are with a group, like shuffleboard and good beer on tap for the low low (cheap) this place will do the job. It was really laid back for a Saturday night in Dallas, no drunk folks tripping over toothpicks and straw wrappers and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Oh, and they have St. Arnold's on tap, which is flipping awesome! If you're not into shuffleboard, there is also pool, arcade games, and plenty TVs to watch. I have been going to Stan's on and off since the days of old in 20th Century. Stan's is an interesting mix of a place,a sports bar that is more fun to go when sports are not on, a beer bar and a little bit of a dive. Stan's has the lack of pretense seen in many dives (if not the dim lighting) but has a million TVs and a whole lotta beers not seen in most joints called dives. I love the Texas beers on tap. They have Firemans, Ugly Pug and Shiner Black to name a few. The free peanuts are a cool twist as are the mason jars they use as beer glasses. I associate Stan's with my friends and happy times but even without that being the case, Stan's would still be a very good bar. read more

I was just harassed by a worker who claimed he was a manager at Stan's threatening to tow my car that was LEGALLY parked in front of Stan's. I parked there to grab coffee at the coffee shop next door. Stan's wasn't even open at the time. After he yelled at me and demeaned my car and my person, I flagged down a cop who confirmed that i was LEGALLY parked to which the incensed man continued to tell more lies. Clearly he is disturbed, but wanted to warn anyone that Stan's is associated with these kinds of folks. Fair warning since he said he was a manager at Stan's. Have never been spoken to or threatened like that even by enemies. To avoid what was clearly more conflict from a disturbed and angry individual, I simply moved my car. read more

Stan's is one of my favorite bars on Lower Greenville. They have a nice outdoor patio and pool table. Great place to meet folks, always jumping. Food is pretty decent as well. If you are looking for a place to go have a good time and don't mind a crowd, try Stan's. read more

Stan's is just the coolest. I love that they just are what they are and don't really try be flashy or fancy. I only ever come here with my dogs, so I always sit on the patio. It's spacious and relaxed and a perfect place to enjoy happy hour. Stan's always attracts good people. I almost always leave here with a few new friends or at least after having enjoyed some interesting conversation about something pointless with somebody. I also love that my dad used to come here with his friends 30 years ago. I doubt anything has changed since then, and I sure hope nothing changes now. read more
