I had some water leaking out under the closet in my garage where my furnace and hot water heater were. I got 5 or 6 companies to come by and look at it. As it turns out, I had the original HVAC system that came with this house, which was 28 years old. Our single story 3BR/2BA house had two air returns right in the middle of the house and it was the one feature I didn't love about this house because of how loud it was. You could hear it go on in any room of the house and especially in the living room when watching TV. I have decent surround sound and the noisy system was quite annoying. Price came over the next day and after I got prices from a couple of other places I decided to go with Stan's. They had a good price and I needed the work done quickly, as not having A/C in the summer isn't fun. I gave them the job on Thursday afternoon. Friday morning two teams of two came. They took out my old system (which was working) and removed my hot water heater. Then they replaced the shelf both were on and determined the water was coming from a slab leak (the second we've had in our house over 15 years). I decided to go with the most expensive system, a variable speed system from Carrier. They assured me it would be a lot quieter than my previous system. That was very important as we're planning to stay in this house forever or until we die, whichever comes first. Roger and Ruben installed the new system. Aaron and Armando installed a new hot water heater (my old one was 11 years old and it didn't make sense to put it back in). By 2 or 3 in the afternoon I had hot water and A/C. The slab leak was capped off and I didn't have hot water to my kitchen sink for the moment. I could not believe the difference. I had had no idea such quiet systems were available, I'd have replaced it years earlier if I knew. On Monday Aaron and Hugo came back. They lined the inside of the crawl space under the shelf with foil coated foam and that quieted the returns even more. They ran a new hot water line into my attic and down through my pantry wall to the sink. My wife and I are THRILLED with this new system. The two people I've showed it to (including a neighbor) were also astounded at how quiet the system is. It's like we're living in a totally different house. Instead of coming on at 100% and blowing really hard, this system runs at a lower pace more regularly. It also keeps the temperature much more consistent throughout the house. Stan's will be doing all of our HVAC maintenance and plumbing as well. We're very happy clients! read more

I started their Gold service club membership last year in May 2025. They were fine, came out in a timely manner and did HVAC system tune-up to ensure everything was running properly. HVAC services was recommended by my builder when I bought my house, and I typically change my filters and flush my primary drain myself too. When it came time for my 2nd service before winter, they reached out to remind me, and then invoiced me in Nov when I scheduled my 2nd service; now I'm paid out for 2026 for my annual Gold service membership. Come spring time, I lost track, called them in Mar to inquire about my next service, And they stated it was too soon. I never got an additional reminder, and realized this around June. Called them and soonest appt was 8/3 between 8a-12p; asked to be moved up sooner if something opens up bc I'm due to service in Jun. Received a text on 8/2 to confirm the appt for 8/3. Done. Here's 8/3, 11:53am, I text them to check status of my service tech bc no communication has been received. They responded that no tech had been assigned to me, and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I called them to discuss, got transferred to dispatch, and she tells me they're sorry, but they're short-staffed on techs and overbooked and asked again if I wanted to reschedule. I explained that, no I did not. I had been billed for 2026 only 6 months after my 1st invoice, and have yet to have any service appts in '26 due to lack of appts. I booked this 2 mths out, and confirmed it, so for them to ask me to reschedule is unacceptable. Especially since no communication was ever attempted except for my calls/texts to them. Dispatch said she'd keep me on the schedule, and a tech will call me 30 mins before they arrive. Come 3pm, still nothing. I texted, no response and around 4:10p, I decided to call. Same scenario, initial answer, explained my situation, then transferred to dispatch again. Dispatch tells me tech will call me 30 mins before arriving. I inquired how long do their appts go til and she states 6 or 7pm. I asked for timeline, bc at this point I've waited all day, but she couldn't provide one. I asked for a refund on my annual membership, cancel my service appt, and she said she'd put a request in. I asked how long will the refund take but she doesn't know. I asked for a mgr or supervisor to call me back bc I'm extremely disappointed in the service and want to ensure I get my refund. We'll see if this happens, bc some other reviews I read said they run you around and mgmt never reaches back out. If I don't get my refund, BBB will most likely get a report from me. Absolutely avoid, over promises, and doesn't deliver. read more

TLDR: I scheduled an appointment, confirmed this with someone on the morning of the appointment, and was then told when I called again in the evening that this was all a lie and Stan's did not intend to fulfill the appointment for another 5 days. --- I was away on vacation and my AC went out during a very hot several days. I was worried about my cat's safety. I called Stan's since I had a Gold Service Club card. It routed me to the weirdest AI system that was actually pretty good at pretending to be human - fake call center noise in the background and everything. It looked up my account and said I had an appointment for the next day. I got a confirmation email and text - my appointment was scheduled for the next day. In the morning I called Stan's and got a human. I let them know I was out of town and gave my card since I would not be there to directly pay (my friend would be at the house). They noted this down on the appointment. I asked about what time *that day* they would be out for the appointment. I was told that they could give no estimation more than some time that day. Around 4/5pm I called again. I got a human again. I asked for an ETA. They transfer me to another person who handles scheduling. That person then tells me that everything I was told so far was a lie. I had no appointment for that day, despite getting 2 confirmations and talking to multiple other people about the appointment. The soonest they intended to get someone out to my house was 5 days later. read more

UPDATE 2 DAYS LATER Stan's scheduled for our last 6-month inspection today. No window of time to come. We waited all *%$ day. 6:20 PM the guy calls, says he's running late, can he reschedule? Nope. We've used Stan's in the past without issue , but we will not use them again . Tried to get them to come out to check our AC unit that was leaking . They can't give you a window of time they will come - just that they'll call 30 prior . After multiple phone calls , and reassurances they would show up they didn't . They called at 6pm to reschedule- used the wrong phone number even though we had several conversations verifying our number, and then failed to call or show up the next day . read more

We purchased a new system in "23 and were very happy with the installation and service for the first year. Still paying on the system we are (and would be whether we still had a balance or not) concerned with on-going maintenance of our new expensive system. This year service calls have been abysmal. They schedule and They cancel. The second time they tried to cancel the service call I asked why again and upon finding out that they had cancelled before they went ahead and sent someone out. Somone without the filter (which they replace twice a year) and unable to complete the service. That was over a week ago. We were promised that someone would call and come out first thing Monday. To date no call no service no satisfaction. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I have been a customer of Stan's Heating & Cooling for over five years and have faithfully participated in your maintenance program, receiving tune-ups twice each year. Unfortunately, due to my recent experience, I will no longer be a customer. My concerns began when a technician diagnosed my upstairs damper as faulty and recommended replacement. I approved the repair; however, when the technician returned with the replacement part, he informed me that he could not perform the work because the damper was welded into the wall. This raised an obvious question: why was this not identified during the initial assessment? Rather than completing the repair, the technician stated that the damper appeared to be working at that moment and suggested we simply monitor the situation. A few weeks later, my air conditioning system began running continuously and would not shut off. When I called Stan's office on Friday to report the issue, I spoke with Denise. She informed me that there would be a $89 dollar service charge and that the earliest available appointment was the following Wednesday. What was most disappointing was not only the delay, but the way the conversation was handled. Denise was rude and unprofessional, and even suggested that I contact another company for service. I explained that your technician had previously stated he had struck the side of the damper and that it should no longer be an issue and if there was to call in and ask to have a damper manager come out. Given that information, I found it unreasonable to be charged again for what appeared to be a result of the previous service visit and failed diagnosis. As a maintenance program member, I also expected a greater sense of urgency regarding an issue that could potentially damage my compressor if left unresolved. I requested to speak with a manager and was told that someone would contact me on Monday. Amanda (the manager) subsequently called, but unfortunately that interaction was equally disappointing. As I was explaining the situation, there was complete silence on the line. After repeatedly saying "hello" and receiving no response, Amanda suddenly replied that she was still there. It appeared that she may have been distracted or multitasking during the conversation and had the phone on mute. At that point, I informed her that I had already contacted another HVAC company, and they were actively addressing the issue. My intention in taking the call was primarily to report on the unprofessional customer service I had received from Denise. However, after my interaction with Amanda, it became clear that the level of customer service I experienced was not only staff but management as well. After more than five years as a loyal customer, I am extremely disappointed that a misdiagnosed repair, a lack of accountability, and poor customer service have led me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Recently paid $24,000 for work including a new AC unit. I initiated the $400 Austin Energy rebate through Stan's, yet they failed to file it before the deadline. They offered to send me a check for the $400, but only if I filled out a W9 and PAID TAXES on the amount. I refused and they never sent the check. I had Stan's out on 9/12/25 to replace a metal sheet, clean my drip pan, and replace styrofoam from my previously failing evaporator coil--damaged components from an earlier leak. This should have been covered under warranty, as I had Gold Plan maintenance in March 2025 and renewed. When they corrected some of the components, they damaged my ceiling and insulation by forgetting to glue condensation tubes, causing a second leak that same night. Weeks of my requests for insurance or reimbursement have been ignored. I had to cut a hole in my ceiling myself on 9/13/25 to prevent mold and have already spent over a thousand dollars on inspections and property damage, with total damages in the thousands. The HVAC unit still isn't fully fixed, and I'm left to handle the property damage myself - including mold. As a Gold Plan member, I should be reimbursed directly--not forced to go through my builder, as they suggested. This is untimely, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I would not use Stan's again. Our experience was incredibly disappointing. We were without air conditioning in the Texas summer, with our home sitting around 90 degrees. Stan's kept us waiting for an entire week stringing us along before ultimately informing us that they couldn't schedule a technician until the following week. Had they been transparent about their availability upfront, we would have called another company immediately and avoided spending days waiting in an uncomfortable situation. It's especially frustrating because Stan's used to have a strong local reputation. Since the company was acquired by private equity, our experience has felt much more like dealing with a large corporation focused on growth and revenue rather than customer service and accountability. I also feel for the technicians and staff who are left representing decisions they likely have little control over. My advice is to look for a locally owned HVAC company that can be honest about their schedule and prioritize customer relationships. In our experience, you'll likely receive better service and better value. read more

Bait and switch tactics. Constant back and forth run around of the call you back game. Technicians leave place a mess and don't even tell you when the job is completed or in my case half completed. We had An appointment on a Friday and it was supposed to be in the morning, typical 8-12 window. At 12:30 I reached out and they said that they would still come to the house but after 3:30. At 4:50 they called and said they couldn't come to the house , that they had "a bunch of people quit". However, they said they couldn't come tomorrow. It is Saturday, and they called at 8:32 and said, we can't come today we want to reschedule you for another day. I guess 8:30 is better than 4:30 after waiting an entire day, the day before. Two canceled appointments because of staffing issues and incompetent dispatch. read more

They were supposed to come out on Monday. What an AWFUL company. Since this company was sold a number of years ago, the service has quickly gone down hill. They will take your thousands of dollars for a new system, but then you are "nobody". They want you to have regular checkups, and they want you to schedule and confirm appointments, BUT then they don't show up and are just full of excuses. I scheduled my appointment nearly two months ago. They have checked with me a couple of times to get me to confirm the appointment, which I promptly did. However, they have kept me hostage in my own home ALL DAY. They will not provide an estimated ETA, and they will not respond to text messages. It is now after regular work hours, and I still have no ETA. When I just called, they just passed me around from one person to another and made multiple excuses for not coming out yet. I've been a Gold Service HVAC customer of Stan's for many years. Unfortunately, a storm caused an electrical surge that damaged the HVAC unit that serves all bedrooms, so it stopped working. I called Stan's on a Thursday morning and they added me to the schedule for Friday. Great. On Friday afternoon at 4:00pm, they called and said they didn't have bandwidth to come Friday or Saturday - but perhaps Sunday. I'm supposed to receive some level of "priority scheduling" based on my service contract. Needless to say, I called a competitor and they were great and resolved my issues on Saturday morning. Being added to the Stan's schedule had become an issue, as you wait around all day only for them to cancel. This had happened just a few weeks earlier for a basic maintenance review. read more

On the phone, I specifically said that I had a tankless water heater, and the lady put me on hold to confirm that the discount was applicable. She told me it was, and scheduled me in for a few days later. Fast forward to today, the plumber comes and hands me a bill for $150 because the discount I saw online was for tank water heaters only.... We called for an estimate for a leak in our yard. The technician came out and spent over an hour here, her conclusion was that we needed to replace the main water line and gave us an estimate $9,000. No work was performed other than the pressure test. My husband called them and complained, and was told a manager would be in contact, but we never heard back from them. My neighbor, who is a plumber came over and looked at it and said it was our irrigation line and he dug down and confirmed that was problem. The next morning we received an "Invoice" for $566 as if work had been performed! Still no call. Anything that was done by the technician should have been covered under the $96 Trip Charge for the estimate. read more

I had used Stan's for years, but their service has gotten so bad, I won't use again. I paid $169 for 2 HVAC maintenance visits. They were supposed to come out today. I never heard from them. When I called them at the end of the day to check, they claimed that a second system had texted me mid day, but I never got it. They would not commit to reschedule me the next morning, would not promptly refund the $169, would not copy me when they emailed the refund request to their manager, and would not give me the manager's contact info. Terrible phone run-around with extremely poor communication from multiple employees. First guy on dispatch talked a huge game about how their techs have all sorts of parts of the van, he was sure they could come out and fix it there. Fine, whatever, and it wasn't a problem when the tech didn't have the part he needed...BUT then the tech said "don't worry, I'll get the part tomorrow and we'll have this fixed in the morning." Great, I thought - but then the guy never called. Whole day goes by, I call them, they try and patch me through to their parts dept, but they're all busy so they'll call me back. Another day goes by. I call again. Oh, turns out they don't have the part, they'll call me back. Nothing. Just ridiculous service with no communication, every step of the way I was forced to call and see what was happening. Total clown show over there, do not use Stan's. read more

I have had wonderful service with the ac department but the plumbing department, I felt completely taken advantage of and I ended up paying 4k for a new water heater and installation. I had new tenants coming in and they showed up at 3pm putting me in a vulnerable state told me what a danger and hazards my instal was in and that I needed a new water heater. Stupidly i didn't not do a google search to see that a new 40 gallon water heater would have cost me $600 (at most $800). I had already signed a contract and could not back out and when i asked if they could just stop they said they would still have to charge me $2k for the visit. I feel completely taken advantage of and do not recommend Stans for plumbing at all unless you want to be completely taken advantage of. read more

Exceptional service provided by HVAC technician Daniel Corona! Daniel changed out our two thermostats and repaired a minor gas leak in our HVAC system with first rate service, efficient and professionalism. I called last minute as our issue was somewhat of an emergency but received same day service! Daniel stayed until the job was done. We also had plumbing technician Rick Clark out to the house last week to check out some suspicious water spots on the ceilings in our master bath and garage. Rick provided a quick and reliable diagnosis of our problem which allowed us to move forward with repairs. He did not try to sell us any services we did not need which was truly appreciated. So grateful to be a Stan's Gold Service member. Highly recommend them! read more

We called Stan's when our hot water heater stopped working. They sent a technician and said the service call was $89.00. He looked at the hot water heater and said the panel was bad and that it was over $2500.00 to repair it. My husband said he would look into getting a new heater. The technician charged us $194.00 Not $89.00 like we were told. My husband figured out it was a 30.00 sensor. The control panel was not bad. Would not recommend Stan's. read more

I have been a long time customer with Stans, In 2024 I purchased a Gold Star Membership. They called me late in 2025 and said I had one visit left. I scheduled for an April 2 2026 date. Before my inspection I called Stans and requested morning -no problem someone would be there between 8-12. I called a couple of days before to confirm and was told yes to 8-12 timeframe. On my appointment day I called at 12:30 because no one showed up. At that point Misty (CS) told me "No Stans doesn't give a time we call 1/2 hour before" I cancelled my appointment , asked for a refund and was told a refund would take 7-10 business days. I also spoke to Chris (mgr) and was told same thing plus he said Stans had been bought by a bigger company & Customer service was changing On day 12 I called about my refund and I have been calling since. Most of the time I was told LISA (head of Gold Star Members) was the one to issue refund. CS always left messages for LISA to call me back My refund was on LISA's desk. When I called to follow up today I was told it wasn't LISA but CHRIS who needed to talk with me. He called me back and stated that due to timing I was getting a refund AFTER a month of follow up this is what I get...... NEVER, NEVER would I use Stans again The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE and I will be sharing my experience with everyone I now use Service Wizard- good customer service, employees & follow up! read more

We had an issue with our shower in the master bathroom not draining. We tried using a plumbing slinky which did nothing. As we had used Stan's Heating & Air we called them and they could come by the same day. At 5:00 PM the plumber arrived and spent 2 hours working on the drain. The water drained but he stated we needed a Hydro Jet at $1100 to complete the job. This was after charging us $350.00. After getting Cold is on the Right to come by today we were told a Hydro Jet would not work as there were rocks in our drain pipes. Bottom line is we would never use Stan's again for plumbing as the person sent was incompetent. These guys are overpriced, under delivered and clueless. read more
