We arrived at 1:40pm, saw there were a few people ahead of us so we stayed we would just make an appointment for the next day. The Technican stated no worries we would be seen at 2:30pm so we left our adult son a grab some drive Thur lunch..came back at 3:15pm and he still had not been seen. There were people complaining about second and third picture and another had wrong prescription and one man walked out mad because he had an appointment and he was pasted up after a hour. It was my first time getting prescription eyewear, and it was one of the worst exp. with a business of any kind.CLEARLY technology can do more for eyes then I've seen. They always tell me, "your glasses will be done in an hour". Prepare to wait at least 1.5-2 hours. Might as well go grocery shopping if I knew it was going to take about an extra hour for it. There wouldn't be any complaints if they just were just honest about the wait and didn't have to make me come back just to wait inside. Two stars given solely for this frustrating reason. I walked in with my glasses prescription in hand from another optometrist. The staff was friendly and helpful. I picked out two frames (they were having a buy one get one free sale) from a huge selection of frames. The purchasing process was quick and they had several options for lenses packages. After purchasing I was able to pick up my pair of glasses within the hour! I was very impressed all around and will be coming back in the future. read more

If you like purchasing a vehicle then this is the place for you. It reminds me of the hassle and stress of doing business with a car sales person. My wife is handicapped. She requested her prescription. It was like pulling teeth plus after we left we discovered that she only had her reading glasses prescription. She asked the gentleman that identified himself as the GM about the accuracy. He simply stated in a smart tone that whoever fills it can figure it out if they know what they are doing. I heard this myself. My wife is already deaf and balance impaired. It would be nice if Stanton optical had people working that really cared about the customers, obviously the Evan store does not. When you have to show anger and attitude to get your eyeglass prescriptions there is something definitely wrong with the system. Dr. Jeff Hoover is absolutely great. He is the only reason we still use Stanton optical for the eye exam only. A year later a new manager and so far it seems to be much better. read more

We enjoyed this place. We were able to get two same day appointments for both my husband and I. We went in and they were a busy location but the variety of frames was totally amazing. We didn't wait too long, standard 30 minute wait to get seen, past our appointment times. We came around 4:45 and we're sitting at the purchasing counter by 6:40. This includes searching for frames for my husband and myself....which I later just decided to go with contacts. We really loved the optometrist. His front desk assistants were great and funny. They knew their stuff and was quick to fix an insurance issue with our insurance. He was matter of fact in a very hospitable manner and was so efficient. He and my husband hit it off with the commonality of working in similar job fields before. Caitlyn was our glasses purchasing rep. She was new but so friendly it made me ask what made her "fall into" the eye glass business. She gave us great options to purchase glasses. The manager was sweet and funny as well. I was a little sad that the buy one get one free deal is for self pay customers only, so if you are using insurance you cannot get in on the deal. All in all a great experience. The tech and the doctor were great. They were polite and courteous and answered all questions. The sales people, ugh. When asking what my cost would be with the extras I picked, somehow 10 + 20 + (28 - 6%) = $88. When I point out that her math needs some work. She say I wasn't finished. I asked for a total price and you answered. The $88 included a warranty. I did not asked for a warranty and none was offered. She then tells me that some people get angry when its not offered. I explained offered and automatically added into the price without mentioning it were two different things. Needless to say when it was time to check out I did not work with her. This location is horrible. The staff inside are kind, but they are so slow! I went here 2 months ago, and I didn't even get started until 70 minutes past my appointment time. My Mom came here last month, and it was a 2 hour ordeal. My friend came here today, and has been there for 3 hours and is not even done yet! Furthermore, when my Mom called two weeks later and asked for the status of her contacts, they said oops the order was never placed. She gets an email two more weeks later saying reminder to pick your contacts up... they never called! Would not recommend this place to anybody. read more

Weirdest eye doctor visit ever. First, Katelyn who took my order and the woman who fitted my new glasses were great. If this review was just about them there would be more stars. The eye doctor side is were the problems are. I had a 2:00 appointment. Figured that was early enough to beat the after work rush... wrong. Waited about an hour to be seen by a guy on a "FaceTime"-like computer call. There was a technician running between exam rooms setting things up but no one to talk to and no way for the "doctor" to tell if everything was working correctly. I'm really surprised that very few reviews mention this feature. I had very low expectations that the prescription would work, but so far it seems ok. I'll have to see how they work at work. If you have actual medical eye problems this is definitely not the place for you. read more

I have ordered several glasses before and this experience is the worst. I didnt realize that it would take this long for them to come in. I was told twice that they were coming in to check on Monday, Wednesday, and now I spoke with them Thursday and still no definite answer. I am just not pleased with the customer service. So just to start off- I called to see when I could make an appointment to be seen, and by my surprise they fit me in within the hour!!! I thought I would have to wait for a while when I got there so I brought a crossword puzzle book. But boy was I wrong! As soon as I stepped through the door I was greeted by a few employees. They were happy to help me and they explained where to find certain frames and sunglasses. Thy gave me time to pick out my frames, but not even 15 minutes into looking I was called back to get my eyes examined. (Awesome!) The exam was quick easy and professional. The eye doctor even made me laugh. I felt super comfortable at Stanton Optical. I want to say how amazing the whole staff was. They all had super bright, bubbly and funny personalities! They were so helpful with my whole process of getting my eyes checked and picking out frames. One beautiful woman (I'm sorry I forgot her name) helped me pick out my regular frames. She was super helpful and I honestly would have never tried that pair of frames on if it weren't for her. I usually get black rectangular frames but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone a little bit. I loved them and let her know she did a wonderful job. She got so happy and excited. It made me smile. I thanked her and she helped me to the counter to check out. So, I got one regular pair of glasses and one pair of sunglasses. I got them with glare and scratch protectant. My eyes are different vision so they were pretty expensive. But the way I think of it is- glasses are a necessity. So if I have to pay 300 dollars to get my eyes examined and two pairs of cute glasses, then I am super happy about it. I would highly recommend Stanton Optical to anyone! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I've been trying to get a refund for over the last two months. But they only thing I've received is promised refunds and callbacks and neither have happened. I paid for an eye exam and ordered contacts on 8/25/20 here at the Augusta Georgia location. And now almost three months no contacts have been sent or received. When I check the order it says in review status. Which is ridiculous because I ordered the same contacts elsewhere and received them in less than a week. I want my money back and at this point I feel I should be refunded for the exam as well because its an i convenience waiting on hold over 40 minutes to reach a representative to argue over something that should of been resolved months ago. The eye exam was professional and pleasant and they have a wide variety of eye ware. The prices were fair compared to other places but be prepared to wait. The eye exam and sale of glasses will probably take you about 3 hrs. Make sure you get something to eat before your appointment and by all means bring something to read. read more

I wish I would have read reviews before I made an appointment. I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Saying they were unorganized and slow with providing service is an understatement. When I walked in, I could not find a staff member because of all of the customers crowded at the front door. My appointment was scheduled for 5:05pm, and I was finally called back to the exam room after 6pm. When time to have the exam with the doctor, I, at the time, found out I would not be seeing them in person but via a telemedicine call. That was fine but I was not given the opportunity to ask any questions or discuss my main reason for coming in (floaters). I then waiting in the room for the nurse to come back to take me to check out. No one came for a few minutes so I opened the door to find someone instead of waiting in the dark. When someone finally came in the hall she ask 'oh you finished?' (Are they not getting notifications when the doctor's exam is complete?!) I was then told to go wait at the front desk. No one came but I instructed by the same nurse to go sit in a chair and wait, then she just came back and handed me the trial pair of contacts to try on in the lobby. I had to ask to go to the back to wash my hands before trying them on. I was told to go to my seat and wait. I did not want to purchase since my prescription was different. Other companies typically ask me to test them for a day and if all is well I will get the prescription/order contacts. I asked another representative after waiting about 10 minutes if I could just pay since I didn't want to buy today. She tells me I can't just skip the line on the list, she will get to my name soon. At this point I'm getting irritated because I was not told I had to put my name on another list to checkout. After explaining this to her, she goes and tell the nurse who said she'll take my payment. I was never given any instructions to return or call if the trial pair was not working for me. After paying, I asked when would I get the prescription. She says 'oh, I'll go grab it.' This store is a mess and I would NOT recommend anyone to come unless you have a minimum of 2 hours to wait (I left after 7pm). Also, make sure you know how many list you have to sign or you'll be there longer. If you are confused, ask a customer. They are more helpful than the staff. read more

Almost $300 dollars and 3 weeks later I have 2 pair of glasses that I'm not really sure are correct but they keep telling me they are. My contacts were still not in so I just decided to stop by and see if they happened to come in. Miraculously they were here but of course the wrong ones. My mother had her eyes examined , she needed bifocals they did not giver her the correct lenses. She told the Doctor she had something on her left eye come to find out it is a really bad cataract and she will now need surgery for both eyes. They told us they would call us when her glasses were ready- but they didn't call us, we had to call them several weeks ago. When we finally got her glasses the prescription was wrong!! Now I'm in the lobby with a staff that could care less if I was here, one woman with a leopard print face mask who was helping me then just walked away to exit the building mid sentence. Now I'm being told there was an exchange done for my contacts which didn't happen. I just want the lenses I paid for so that I can see. One star is too good for them. The manager is UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I DON'T recommend this. My prescription was so off I was nauseous trying to adapt to it. I had to go elsewhere to have my prescription fixed. The eye exam was very rushed and the doctor performed it remotely and did a very poor job. They only care about pushing as many people through as possible. It's dirty in there and has poor inventory. I had my exam completed by Dr. Hoover I would come back for an exam from him only. He is fantastic and has patience. He deserves 5 stars. That is the end of the good part. The bad part: I ordered my glasses on Monday October 30, 2017 and was told that a lens would have to be ordered. The order would arrive in two days. On Wednesday November 1 my wife called and it didn't come in. Thursday no dice. Friday November 3 I called and they say that they are not in but they just received an order and will call me back in thirty minutes, I left my number. Later they call my wife because her number is on record and they lost mine. They tell her they received orders that are damaged and my glasses MAY be ready on Monday. Now I didn't get conformation as to which day they received a damaged order. So in response I call them again but this time I do not press buttons for the automated system and someone picks up after the message repeats three times. I inquire about glasses and apparently I rang through to Corporate. I tell them they have billed my insurance and I would like to cancel the order. She ask if I can hold while she investigates. Surprise to me.... My glasses are ready and I can pick them up. Now waiting in the store for 30 minutes and 4 people have been helped. My turn now, employee wondering around looking for the glasses. Let's cross our fingers. Crisis adverted I have them. 36 minutes. Peeked at the slip and it says the promised date is the 13th. The level of incompetence is astounding. I've been using Stanton optical for years, ever since I was a kid. They've always been more expensive but worth it. Now coming in for a simple appt for CONTACTS, I've had to check in to three different systems and two different desks. My eye appointment was at 350, I was seen at like 400. Damn near an hour later I have still yet to be called to pay and pick up ONE PACK OF CONTACTS SINCE THEY SHIP YOU YOUR FULL ORDER. Not to mention, the "list they have" has been scratched through, rearranged, it's horrendous how unorganized this place is. I've gone to Stanton Optical three times over three years to have my son seen for glasses. Each time, the appointment has gotten progressively worse, with today being the climax. Both of the women working in the check-in portion for eye exams were incredibly rude to me from the moment I walked in the door, acting as if I was a plague upon them by interrupting their morning. Upon realizing that I had changed my insurance since the last appointment, I was met with frustration and obvious aggravation that I was being a "difficult customer". Their phones where going off throughout the pre-checkup, and finally, when I asked why I hadn't then seen by the doctor yet, I was yet again approached with an attitude.
