Terrible customer service. No direction. I wasn't even told what my eyesight was. They forgot to dilate my eyes. They had to come into the parking lot. To tell us that they weren't done after they checked us out. Very confusing, we'll never go back. Tried to get fitted for contacts. And it fell on the floor and she instructed me to pick it up and try again. That's when I was done.Zero stars. Train your staff to be a little bit more kinder, a little more patient. I really wanted to love this place, I really did! The staff was friendly, the facility is clean, the doctor is pleasant. In fact, I left saying it was such a great appointment. Little did I know that was the start of my 1 month long nightmare! Let me be clear and say the ONLY reason I went in was because my prescription was expired and I needed to order new contacts. I brought a copy of my old prescriptions, my old glasses, and my old contacts. To my surprise, the doctor said my prescription was changed. I had no reason to doubt her, so I immediately ordered new contacts and glasses online. The contacts seemed off, but I thought I was just getting used to my new prescription. I got the glasses and immediately knew they were wrong. I figured it was because I ordered them online. I sent them back and went to LensCrafters to get new glasses (again). I got my LensCrafters glasses and they were off too. That's when I thought maybe it was my prescription. So I went back to the eye doctor and she said my prescription was again, stronger. So I take that back to LensCrafters and when those glasses come I am like, "Nope! Looks like I'm looking through a magnifying glass!". Meanwhile I have been wearing the new contacts and started noticing that I am getting light headed and dizzy frequently, which was a very new symptom. I was also getting an eye twitch. I decided that it was probably also a wrong prescription. I took them out, left with no contacts or glasses, "blind" and unable to drive, until I could go to a completely new eye doctor. I went to Eye Associates of Georgia, which was fabulous. The doctor there tested my eyes from baseline. Lo and behold, my prescription was never changed! I tested right back into my old, original prescription. I have since gotten my contacts and glasses readjusted and am having zero issues. Thankfully LensCrafters and 1-800 contacts are both amazing companies and I got full refunds. But let's just recount, that's $720 dollars in contacts, $678 dollars in glasses and sunglasses, and $220 dollars to pay out of pocket to a new eye doctor since my insurance was used here and the doctor clearly had no idea what she was doing. Not to mention I never would have even bought new glasses had I known my prescription NEVER changed. I would have only had to re-order contacts. So, please, just know that if you go here, your risking HUNDREDS of dollars wasted, strange symptoms like an eye twitch and lightheadedness, and a month long nightmare that can leave you high and dry, unable to see well enough to drive until you go someplace else. read more

Great doctor but appointments are a month and a half out at least and they refuse to take you if you are even a a second late per their clock. I had an appointment with them and got held up by roadwork, gave them a call and actually made it within their 10 minute policy, but instead of honoring the appointment they chose to screw the customer over, because I was over according to their clock. Went to the because I did not need my eye surgeon anymore. office was very courteous when going to either pay for contacts or glasses but don't let there be a problem. I went from montly to daily wear contacts. dr Broome told me that if there were any problems to let them know. He said because they are small they can handle anything for me. Well last night I went to take out my contact and it tore. Not sure if I still had part left in or not. I couldn't find anything and I tried to flushing it out but with no luck. i figured at this point I had really irritated it. This morning I preceded to put another contact in. it was still a little uncomfortable but still figuring it was irritated. As the day has gone by it has seemed to gotten worse. Long story short I called the office to see if someone could look in my eye. The office staff told me no they had no openings And that he had somewhere to be tonight. she Never asked him so I went there. A lot of times the office staff will say things when the doctors don't even know about it. When I got there they told me they asked him and he said no that I could go to prompt care. If that's not something I don't know what is. I guess this doctor just wants to see you when nothing is wrong and doesn't interfere with their plans. Granted it would have taken all of 3 sec to look. i left my number for him to call me. We will see. Guess I'm headed to prompt care. read more

Very disappointed; paid over $800 for progressive lenses and Frame. Thought my lenses were scratch resistant but they got scratched. I called for an appointment but can't get one for 3 months. It would have been nice to receive a notice that it was time for me to schedule my yearly exam but I never received any notice. Now my glasses and exam have expired by 3 months and I can't get new lenses for another 3 months. I stopped by the office and was told there was nothing they could do. They expect me to try seeing through scratched lenses for 3 months before I can get an appointment. Not my idea of good customer service after paying close to $300 for an exam and $800 for new glasses with progressive lenses. read more

So I went back for my prescription to be checked as one eye for distance was blurry. After checking my eyes against the prescription given I was informed that everything was correct. Aren't you supposed to be able to see clearly with the correct prescription? read more

I don't recommend. I had never had progressive lenses and couldn't get used to them. I had mentioned that I couldn't see 2 different visits, then had to leave the state to take care of a sick loved one and couldn't get back to them to fix my glasses. I had stopped by after returning and they didn't want to assist me. Basically was told there's nothing wrong with my glasses. I went and had another exam elsewhere and was told that the progression was not correct for me. Once again went back and was told there was nothing wrong with my lenses. At this time I was then offered a lense replacement on both my glasses and sunglasses for a few just a little less than I had originally paid. DO NOT GET YOUR MONEY STOLEN LIKE I DID! read more

I called this location on Monday to set up an appointment because I heared great things about the location. I shared my BCBS insurance information with office and let them know I would only be in Georgia for the next month. The woman wrote my insurance info down said she would check with their "insurance lady" and give me a call back. 5 days went by without an update. I called the location and asked for an update. There was no update and they asked to put me waiting list as the next appointment would be in 1.5 months. Had this information been shared with me in the intial call I would not have waited 5 days and called them myself to to ask for an update. This place was recommended by a friend of mine and it deserves every star! As soon as you walk in Wow! The staff is very friendly and courteous with a welcoming greeting. My initial visit was my daughter's first eye exam and it took a little longer (of course) as the assistants were very thorough in prepping her for the optometrist. Dr. Hamlin was awesome! She took her time and examined my daughter careful while answering my questions and concerns of why my daughter need glasses at a young age. After the examination was done, time to choose some frames. They have a moderate selection of frames for kids (some designer) my daughter is very picky and I'm glad it wasn't too many, we would've been there until they closed! The lady (sorry forgot her name) helped her find some nice frames that fit perfectly. 10 days later we received a call to pick up, she tried them on an we were good to go... I've been going to Broome Family Eye Care for over 10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Broome takes the time to answer your questions and provides stellar service during each appointment. The entire Broome team is professional and very welcoming and kind. They also have the best selection of glasses in the CSRA. I love my David Yurman, sunglasses and other prescription glasses. I do believe that you could get cheaper quality glasses for a lower price but Broome provides high quality products with focus on each person's needs. Broome has taken greater care to protect their customers than any other business I have recently visited in the CSRA. Hello, I am a new transient to Augusta, which I love the city dearly and happy to be a resident. With that said, I made an appointment with Dr. Broome for eye exam a while ago and after his assessment, I had to wait over three weeks to get my much needed prescription glasses. Finally, upon the arrival of the eye glasses, I was told to wear them for 2-3 days for my eyes to adjust. Unfortunately, after a couple days, I had an excruciating headache and my vision had actually worsened. After some back and forth, they took the glasses and reinstate my insurance, but kept the co-pay. When I inquired about it, they stated "it is for the initial doctor visit". So I am left with worse eyesight and multiple, daily headaches! My question still remains unanswered from this practice, if they prescribed the wrong glasses and the insurance has been re-instated, what is the co-pay for? This review is not for refunding co-pay, strictly the principal of the matter and care for the patient, or lack thereof. After all the different eye doctors I have visited in my 45+ years, this was my worst experience and I would highly recommend seeking a new doctor, as unfortunately I give this practice a 1 out of 10. The offices are very nice and most of the employees are. But if you are looking for more economical eye-wear then look elsewhere. My biggest complaint is their web site says their hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm M-F. What their site does not say is they close at 12:00 noon for lunch and don't re-open until 2:00 pm. Two hours for lunch???? No wonder their prices are so high. My second big complaint is while they are closed for lunch their phones go to a recorded message. The message says that while the doctor's office is closed the optical shop is still open for glasses and contacts. But....the optical shop does not have a phone or separate number listed so you can call them to find out if your eye-wear has arrived. VERY AGGRAVATED!!!! read more

very disappointed with Broome, a certain brand of contact I wear had been changed and it was not disclosed before I purchased my years worth. Thinking it was my eyesight I wore them infrequently. Well I visited them for my daughter appt and brought that to their attention, the receptionist stated they changed the contact and I could bring them back as long as they were unopened, I returned them but they refused to accept them back and never offered a solution. I've been going to Dr. Broome for a couple of years now after having a disappointing experience at another local optical store. My eyes are a little complicated due to having different types of eye surgery on each eye, so that each eye now requires different correction. Dr. Broome discussed all the options with me, and encouraged me to avoid progressive lenses for as long as possible since once you go bifocal you can never go back. He fitted me with monovision contact lenses to see if that will work. Also, a pair of fairly expensive eyeglasses I purchased a little more than a year ago started to come apart at the weld. The staff said even though the eyeglasses were out of warranty, it was a factory defect and they got me a new pair at no cost. SCORE! I really appreciate the professionalism of all the staff here. Great selection of high-end eyeglasses, though they keep them well-guarded under lock and key and so you have to ask to try on each pair. read more
