Today i came in for an eye exam. I was extremely pleased with how both my husband and i got treated. Samuel Salgado was extremely helpful. From finding frames that would fit me to helping us checkout. I'll definitely be coming back for my next exam. And i recommend whoever else to choose this place as well. Your exam is via satellite or Skype basically, and the staff has ZERO clue as to what they are doing or supposed to do, literally they walk in circles! Unfortunately, I have to change my review after having worked with Stanton Optical over the last few months. While it is easy to schedule an appointment, get an eye exam, and retrieve a new prescription -- I personally don't think their quality of glasses is worth it. I went through 3 pairs of glasses within 1.5 months because the frames kept cracking in half. Each time I went to pick up my "new" pair, they put my lenses in backwards so I had to return because I couldn't see. Since the same style of frame broke 3 times, they ended up letting me choose a different style for free. I moved from the area so they ended up mailing me my 4th and final pair and they arrived today. Guess what? My lenses were in backwards, for the 4th time! I watched a YouTube video so I could safely switch the lenses myself, but the point is I shouldn't have to. I'm all about second chances, but after the 4th time trying to get a correct pair of glasses my patience has worn thin. The staff is pleasant to work with, but I would not recommend their products. I believe the staff needs to be better trained on how to assemble the lenses into frames correctly. read more

October 2017 - Had an appointment with Stanton Optical. Ended up being more than anticipated, but okay... I needed glasses and contacts. Paid 1/2 invoice on my credit card would pay half when I received my order. Apparently, the optometrist that was here for my appointment is no longer here. Early November 2017 - Received my glasses. No contacts. Late November 2017 - Repeated phone calls that I had something waiting for pick-up. When I went to pick up, there was nothing there. I was informed the reason I was getting phone calls was because I had an outstanding balance. Paid balance in cash. Mid-December 2017 - Called to inquire status of order. Still no contacts. Asked for a refund. Was told since I paid in cash I would be issued a check. There would be a check to me within 2 weeks. January 2 2018 - Still no contacts, nor refund. Emailed customer service. Received email January 4 that my request had been "escalated." January 8 2018 - Received call from Stanton Optical Santa Maria. Since I paid the initial portion of my invoice with credit card I would have to split the refund between credit card and check even though the cash payment I made more than covered the purchase price of the non-existent contacts. Sure whatever. My credit card was credited for more than 1/2 the cost of the contacts. I was told I would receive the remainder in check by mail within 2 weeks. February 12, 2018 - Still no check. I will never go back, even though I am offered free exams for the next year with the package I purchased. read more

The first pair were not perfect for me so they sent them back and even with how difficult I was with shape of the glasses every single employee helped me until they were perfect. Well, after reading the other reviews I'm sad to say I can't say I had the same experience. My husband had an appointment so we walked into the building and saw someone helping someone else out. We waited until someone came from a room and asked if we had an appointment. When we said yes he said, "come right over here" and took my husband right in to a room were he performed two pre-tests. Never asked how we were or explained what was about to happen. After pre-testing he walked out of the room and sat in front of a computer for 15min. I then finally asked if he needed any of our info and he said, "I'm just entering in the results to the tests that I did into the computer." It was taking him that long just to enter in the results to two simple tests. I then asked if he needed info for our insurance because he never asked for names or forms to be filled out. He agreed and took my husband's name and last 4. He briefly explained how much ourco-pay would be and if we wanted to start looking at glasses! Instead of asking what we were there for,how the process works, any helpful information for a new time patient. He then disappeared for another 15 minutes until I realized we had been there for too long, looked stupid and confused. I went to ask the only other person there what was going to happen next and he said, "well you are going to go into a room and have an eye exam." I asked if he was the eye doctor and he said, "No, we don't have eye doctors here. You're pretty much going to have your eyes checked by someone through a camera etc... That would have been good information to know from the beginning. At this point we had been there for 45 min and the first person who helped us I never saw again. He must have been hiding in the back because it looked like he did not want to be there. Learn how to greet your customers and explain to them how the process works. And letting people know that there is no actual eye doctor in your office is very important information. Don't leave people waiting and expect them to know what happens next. read more

So far I've already been waiting almost two months for a pair of sunglasses that were supposed to arrive December 15th. I did my exam and the whole shabang on December 1st and it is already January 25. I was able to get one pair of glasses since then but my experience there was pretty awful. Don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly but there are no real doctors, I had to Skype with one while she checked my eyes. The staff didn't really seem like they knew what they were doing as a staff member told me that all the managers and other staff quit besides him. I waited two hours for everything to get settled but every time the associate would mention how much it was going to be it was always a different number. Once he figured out how much it was going to total out to he left and came back and it was a different amount. I didn't say anything because I just wanted to get the heck out of there. Now I've visited up to 7 times and they've said they would call me back to update me on my sunglasses and I still haven't been called. So I go in there because I feel like they won't contact me and they still haven't. All I get is, "next week" "try next week" and it's been almost two months. read more

We called as we didn't have much time to see if they had men's frames in blue or gray in size 58. The guy left a minute and came back and said yes they did. When we got to the store, we could not find any. The same guy came to see if we needed help and we told him we were the ones that called. His comment was just find some frames and we can adjust them. Then he left and went on to any other person. There were no glass frames and so he lied. We left and won't be back. The frames they did have looked over priced and cheap. My husband and I went in on Sunday to get an eye exam, the staff was okay he checked in and got the insurance stuff taken care of, we were surprised that he was going to be seen on a Sunday so we asked about the doctor... then we were told that there was no doctor??? That my husband was just going to put his face in a machine and the results were going to be sent to someone or something in Florida? I have no idea what the deal was we were just really confused so I called Costco luckily they were able to get me in that same day since we live in Lompoc! Last year(2018) I ordered 2 pair of glasses, one normal pair and one pair of sunglasses, they took 3 months to make the sunglasses. The current in 2018 manager told me he was going to give me a free pair for my inconvenience. Since I had just gotten two pairs I asked if I could use that offer of a free pair in a year (2019), to which he said YES, the offer was in the computer and I could use it anytime. Fast forward to this year (6/2019) my daughter went in to use that free offer from me to order a pair of sunglasses for herself. The Optition on duty said the offer of free pair was notated in the computer, so he took the order. After a week my daughter called to find out when the sunglasses would be in and was told the free pair couldnt be honored, the NEW Manager said the offer had expired. I went into the store today and the Manager told me this story, said the offer was only good for 30 days and the person that made the offer was gone. SHE WOULD NOT HONOR the free pair notated in the computer by the previous Manager. She stated that although in the computer it did not state an expiration date, and I was not told of an expiration date, the free pair were only good for 30 days. The new offer she made me was one pair for $59.99 good for 30 days, there advertised pricing is 2 pairs for $59.99 which includes the eye exam. So this tells me that THE COMPANY DOES NOT STAND BEHIND OFFERS MADE TO CLIENTS.......People beware This is BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! read more

If I could give this place a ZERO rating I would. Went in with my mom almost a month ago to help her choose some eyeglasses. She did the exam at Stanton also. My mom wanted to take advantage of the "deal" they have been advertising. I believe it's 2 eyeglasses for $59.99. The sales person was pulling out glasses for my mom to try. NEVER ONCE did he warn my mom that her prescription only fits certain glasses. My mom chose the two pairs she wanted and got quoted over $500!!!! Are you kidding me. At the end my mom just purchased one pair since the "deal" didn't seem much of a deal after all. She was told she would get a call in two weeks to get the glasses fitted/adjusted. She just got the call yesterday which is just three days shy of a month. My mom went in today and the prescription is not right. She was not able to see on the bottom portion of the glasses. They questioned if she even got her exam there, which she did. The guy that "helped"'her the first time came over and told was adamant that he had informed her that he told her this would happen with the glasses she chose. HE NEVER TOLD HER. HE NEVER TOLD HER SHE WAS LIMITED ON THE GLASSES. he told her that when she came in last time to try on the glasses. He told her just she would have to get used to the prescription. She hasn't gone in since the time she chose the glasses. She told him this and he told her he thought she had come in after. Obviously when your prescription changes you have to get used to it but if you completely can't see??? Come on dude! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!? By this time my mom has been there for such a long time and decided to leave and come back with the printed prescription because she has it at home. Kudos to the entire staff - this store handled a situation; which not all eyeglass stores would even consider servicing. I had damaged two sets of lens over the past 18 months. So I brought to them, my favorite eyeglass frames for lens replacements. Antoun and John were happy to accommodate my request. As life goes from time to time - there was an issue that was out of their control. However, they rose to the occasion to ensure; my experience was outstanding. In the end, as the saying goes "I am over the moon with my lens and frame". They receive a top rating and recommendation from me to all my family and friends. read more

Worst place to buy glasses. I really don't like writing a bad review on anyone and have seldom done it but I just feel I need to warn ones about their business pratices. I notice that some people were very happy with their glasses and the service that they received but that is not true in our case. We only went there because a friend had advised us on how she got a great deal on glasses, so we decided to try them. What a disappointment!!! They have a fly by night eye exam by some guy who is on a monitor who knows where. They charge $90 for the eye exam and said it would be credited to our account if we bought glasses from them. NOT TRUE!! My husband got the $45 dollar credit on his glasses.but not on my glasses. I knew we had been taken when I got home and started to exam the bill and so I called the next day to cancel the order but of course they promise they would make good on it, which they didn't. When we went to get our glasses I asked them why I didn't get the credit and they said it must be credited some where else on our bill but they couldn't produce it. I said I wanted proof, so the guy just went to the computer and stood they looking for it but couldn't find it so my husband said just forget it. My husband can't see out of his glasses because the prescription is wrong and he just doesn't want to hassel with them. He went back to wearing his old glasses. I have trouble seeing out of my glasses. Some people my have had a better experience with them but we are one of the ones who didn't. May be it's because theyonly got normal reading glass for $59 a pair but we just feel were taken and would never recommed any one to buy glasses from them. read more

I went to Stanton Optical while I was back home visiting my family over the Christmas break. I decided to go to them because they had a deal going on- free eye exam and buy 2 pairs of glasses for $70. Once I got there I realized that a doctor was not physically going to be in the room with me. Everything is done remotely- on a computer screen, which may be the reason I had such an issue with this experience. After my exam, I walked around picking out my 2 pairs of glasses, having never been told that only certain pairs are part of the 2 for $70 deal. I brought my selections to a staff member and was then charged $240 for the 2 pairs. First off, they get you with that original deal- it doesn't include the lenses, just the frames. That's a little misleading when you say "glasses", which suggests both frames and lenses, not just the frames. However, that was my mistake for not understanding the advertisement I guess. Once I got my glasses I realized that they were not the correct prescription. I called them and let them know about the issue and was able to bring the glasses back in a get rechecked. This is when the realized that I have an astigmatism- something I feel should have been figured out the first time. Yes, I've had once since I needed glasses many years ago but never thought about telling them that as it should be obvious to an eye doctor. A new prescription was given to me and I was able to reorder my glasses. I wasn't convinced they had my correct prescription at this point either because somehow my eyes were better than the last time, but the original prescription didn't feel strong enough. A week and a half later I still didn't have my new glasses but at this point I was getting ready to go back home and requested a refund because I wasn't going to be able to pick up the new ones. One of the employees suggested that we ship them and if they didn't work I'd get a refund and I wouldn't have to ship the incorrect glasses back. It's been over a month since my first encounter with this company and I've finally got another 2 pairs of glasses with the wrong prescription. I was refunded for the glasses but now I'm forced to spend another exam fee and more time trying to get the correct prescription. The guys that work at the Santa Maria office are very nice and did what they could to help me resolve this issue. However, I'm still super frustrated at the fact that I spent a significant amount of my Christmas vacation trying to get glasses and I still don't have any. read more

I already had already gotten dark glasses and clear glasses from them but was a bit unhappy with my vision with them. I took them back in and talked to Sasha and she immediately offered several remedies for me. I chose one of them and to my surprise they came back from the lensmaker absolutely perfect! The level of customer care I've gotten from Sasha during my glasses replacement process has been more than outstanding! If you need any help with your glasses or lenses go in and talk to Sasha she will make it right for you no matter what! read more

I came to Stanton Optical to get contacts a few months back. When we walked in, I looked around and was looking for the optometrist but only saw the sales associates. They take me into this room where I'm greeted by the optometrist on a SCREEN. Really would have liked to know that BEFORE getting the exam done. Maybe I'm old school but I definitely prefer having the presence of a doctor. So I go through with the exam and I sit down with the manager to talk price. He gives me a deal where I get a year worth of contacts and a new pair of glasses as a back up. I agree and choose my glasses and the whole time the manager is telling me "We'll take care of you" and that's that. I get a call about a month later that my glasses arrived and were ready for pick up. I can't lie. The glasses were good. I could see clearly and they were obviously right for me. I get another call about a month and a half later saying my contacts arrived. I go in and they don't have my contacts. The same manager tells me it must have been a mistake and tells me "we'll take care of you". I leave. 2 months later, I get a call that my contacts are in. I go but ONLY MY LEFT EYE CONTACTS ARE IN. what was I supposed to do. See only out of my left eye? At this point I'm already irritated. Especially since this manager tried to blame my eye sight and said it's taking longer because I have more astigmatism on my right eye. That would have been convincing if I didn't see you staring at your computer extremely confused and overhearing you say "wait. I didn't send that. " a few seconds ago But no worries because he says " oh here. Here's a COMPLIMENTARY right eye contact to use until we can get your right eye contacts in. It's good for two weeks and we will definitely have your right eye contacts before two weeks. " COMPLIMENTARY?! a week passes and no calls. I call and a nice woman answered. I tell her my scenario and she says she will tell the manager and he should call me that same day or the next. He never called me. 15 days pass and I'm pissed. I just go in with my left eye contacts and glasses and ask for a full refund. The manager tried to tell me to come back the next day for my refund but I completely refused because I did not want to waste anymore of my time there. I got my full refund and have told my coworkers and family to stay far away from that place. The manager is unprofessional, unorganized and just wants to make his commission. I can say that because I went to Costco and explained my whole scenario to the optometrist there and he told me that it's illegal to have an eye exam via video call. A doctor has to PHYSICALLY be there to see you. He definitely encouraged me to report this place to the board of optometry AND I got my contacts WITHIN FOUR DAYS. This place is a joke. This place WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF YOU. Lesson learned. read more

I was told I would get my glasses in a week.. it's been a week now I get told another week. They try to blame ups however I don't believe it has anything to do with ups. I was asked by my doctor to have my eyes checked because I am diabetic, I went to Stanton Optical and told them, went threw tests, was issued a prescription for glasses and had them made. When I got them however they were unacceptable, I couldn't wear them. I had my eyes re-checked at Costco, and even though the prescriptions were fairly close the optometrist told me I really didn't "need" glasses, just readers. The biggest difference was that the optometrist faxed the results to my doctor where as Stanton Optical not only didn't have an optometrist on site, they also didn't do the diabetes test which is why I went there in the first place. Since I didn't "need" the glasses I went to return them, I was told I couldn't get a refund because the prescriptions were pretty close and they had already made the lenses and that was their policy. They did offer me single lens glasses, which I didn't "need" and readers which I already have and $150 refund instead of the $740 I paid. Their refund policy states " if you are not completely satisfied with the product we would be able to issue a refund". This could of been an easy, simple transaction but it has turned into an extremely upsetting experience for me. Now I have to spend time writing letters, contacting BBB and find out the process if taking Stanton Optical to small claims court. read more

The other negative reviews don't surprise me as this business is ridiculous. I went in for an eye exam November 24th. It wasn't until they called me into the exam room that I was told there is no doctor on site, they use a computer based in Florida. I was skeptical but went ahead with the exam. I ordered and paid for 2 pairs of glasses, one of which were to be tinted. Anton told me my glasses would be ready in 7 to 10 days. $400. Weeks go by I never hear from them. I finally go in on December 27th and discover both glasses are tinted. The guy , Eduardo, who claimed to be the manager was sloppy and so overweight he couldnt hardly breathe. He snorted and huffed! He never offered to have me try on either pair just said they would reorder. I returned the next day and now there is a new manager named Chris. They change employees faster than their underwear. Chris has me try on both pairs and both are blurry. He says he will reorder. A rush will only take 3-5 days. I wait until January 11th. Never heard a word from them. By now I just want a refund. Anton informs us Chris no longer works there and says my glasses are on the way. Almost 2 months and more waiting? I insist on a refund. Anton is surly and obnoxious but he refunds the cost of the glasses refusing to refund the cost of the exam. He can't take away the doctors charges... WHAT DOCTOR?! It was a computer and clearly one that didn't get the prescription right. I had our credit card company reverse those charges but Stanton Optical used my money for almost 2 months and I still have no glasses. Avoid this scamming company. With their bad service, daily turnovers in employees, and defective products, they won't last long. read more
