No update needed to update this cause it's still the same sad service. I called before I left work to try and get my question answered, but I was literally on hold for over 20 minutes; I had the phone on speakerphone while I packed up to go and I finally hung up. I was never received by anyone over the phone, they just left me there in the cyber cycle. When I got to the store, I understood the phone incident clearly. The store is a mess. There's stuff all over the place and the employees pay zero attention to the customers. There was only one person working at the front & he was doing a passport photo for a customer and no one else was at the registers so there was a line of customers waiting to check out. There was someone that looked like they may have been a manager but they were on their cell phone, ignoring their employees and the customers and the mess. At the printing section there was also only one person working and she was helping a customer that was literally taking forever with her order, and nothing wrong with that except when an employee can't multitask. She did not make eye contact or even try to acknowledge anyone. She just totally ignored everyone except the lady she was helping; no attempt to see what you need or if she could assist quickly before going back to the customer who was on a marathon order. The people in front of me must have been waiting for a bit because I had already been waiting 10 minutes so no surprise that when called I was on hold. The printing department is also where you can mail UPS, but there was packages laying around and trash and a mess, and sadly I would not trust my return in their hands. I probably should give them 1 star, but I sort of feel sorry for them... This Staples is horrible. Bad lighting. Slow check-outs. And the print department - oh don't get me started... The print department is the worst. There are never enough people working in it. There IS one employee (and I wish I remembered his name - very friendly and amazing multi-tasker) who knows what he is doing, but the rest of the staff are over-worked, inattentive, and seem to be bored out of their minds. I placed an online order which said it would be ready by that night. I was busy, so didn't bother going that night. I checked email the next day - no alert saying it was ready. Waited a few hours. No email. Finally called and was on hold for about 10 minutes. Then was told, "Oops, the printer that does posters is out of service and has been for a couple days...". Meaning - they were ACCEPTING poster orders knowing that they couldn't print them. And not alerting customers. That is the kind of incompetence we are talking about at this Staples location. They do ok with Amazon returns (though don't use this location if you would like a smile or a friendly word - it is just hand 'em your return, they scan, you go). All in all - do not recommend. The whole store is usually empty except for the printing department, and the staff there are often distracted trying to help customers with the computer or with the "self-service" printers so not behind the counter actually printing orders that have been placed. read more

This is the second time I've visited this location and the second time all the printers didn't work. The first time, the staff advised I use the computer to print which would've involved paying to use the computer and then paying to print the pages. The staff did not want to help at all. This is in an extremely busy area. The company was smart to put a location here. The amount of businesses is staggering. Usually I go to the Fairfax City location, as it's more laid back. Still am content to go here. The main reason is printer ink. Prices for printing ink are insane. Here's probably your best bet. They do sell some decent laptops, but I've found better deals at other stores or online. School supplies, this is a great choice. Customer service is decent. I tried coming here to drop off Amazon returns twice (Sunday and Monday) and both times they wouldn't accept my returns because of the time, which was different on both days. They stopped accepting returns Sunday after 4 or 4:30 pm and Monday they don't accept returns before 11am and between 1:30-3:30 pm. I only found this out because they put a hand written note on the screen in the return area both days. Yesterday they told me the hours were the same but that obviously wasn't true. The employee today was totally unhelpful and didn't want to help me. Don't bother coming here for Amazon returns. Total waste of time. read more

I stopped by this place! I had a couple of files to print! The whole process usually takes less 5 mins every time I do it. Unfortunately, the young girl working this time seemed very reluctant about doing her job. I could tell from her attitude she was looking for every excuse to not take my order, and told me to come back tomorrow. She said she doesn't even know how to use the printer anyway, and that I have to come back tomorrow when her supervisor is here which is ridiculous. She also seemed very disengaged and didn't care about what I was telling her. This sort of attitude and incompetence is becoming very common among staples workers unfortunately. You need to train your staff better. read more

I went to the copy center to make 26 pages of copies. The self service machine jammed on the first page after entering parameters and credit card. It displayed a message to contact an attendant and canceled the transaction. I waited at the copy desk with two attendants and one customer in front of me for 20 minutes. I informed the attendant about the self service copy machine malfunction and she told me that that one was not working. I requested that she make the copies for me on one of the many machines behind me and she said "No, you will have to use another self-service machine". Zero attempt to assist and no awareness to put an out of order sign on the malfunctioning machine. I went to the UPS Store and was in and out in 3 minutes with my copies. I was extremely dissatisfied with this store. I had an urgent print issue and the few employees who were there that day were doing anything other than trying to help the customers. I had a specific print need and tried to use the printer for everyone's use and pulled up my pdf. I needed the document printed on half a page, double sided. I asked a nearby employee, who told me that machine could not do that. So, I informed him it was an urgent matter (the printed documents for the event I was working that day had errors that could not be corrected). I asked what the print and copy center could do and he said they could take the order, but it would be ready the next day. He seemed absolutely unconcerned, as did the employee in the print center, who just stared at her P.C. and pretended no customers were there. One employee I asked for help wasted my time by letting me explain my problem and then saying he didn't work in that area and didn't know how to work the copier. there anything the print center can do. I normally use the Leesburg location, and they are quick, efficient, and have helped customers out with last minute problems happily. The entire store had a vibe like that's where hope when to die. I ended up printing full page, two-sided documents. That of course meant twice as many pages and the total price was insane. Not to mention the color toner was probably low based on how they turned out. As a small business owner who needed a professional looking post card size insert for brochures, I felt pretty embarrassed by what I ended up with. Do not go here if you need something handled quickly or if you have an expectation that the store will demonstrate a commitment to providing decent customer service. read more

After decades of ordering Christmas cards without incident, I ordered cards Sunday, with a promised availability of Monday, expecting to send them out shortly after. It's now late Thursday, the website still says "In Progress." I physically went there yesterday, only to be told that they haven't been printed and I would be contacted. Why aren't they honest enough to temporarily stop taking orders for next day if they are backed up? It's not rocket science, it's just basic labor and supply management. I wish I"d read Haitam B.'s review, and had these ordered to be printed by a different Staples. As it is, I'll be lucky if the cards are printed this week and arrive by New Year's. This location never has what you need. Not only that if you are able to find what you're looking for, someone has already opened the package and stolen half of whatever it is. However, when you get to the checkout counter, with whatever means of the thing you came in for, you will need to wait for five minutes before an overly scented man comes and decides to ring you up after a second overly scented man stands behind you for another five minutes and we both wait for someone to check us out. 9/10/22 I am not sure what it iui s like working here, but the store is s nicely stocked and well maintained. There were some things my wife was looking for, but did not find them here. I did see dishwashing detergent, but did not get it, because I wanted to use our 20% off coupon at Bed Bath&beyond. I did see some useful products I could use to organize so my bathroom, but decided against it for now. This location is pretty busy from what I saw walking in through the doors. Speaking of doors, I saw so lovely gamer chairs my wife liked for $99.99 regularly at a $149.99 per box. This location is right new to the old Safeway building in Falls Church. The new building being made looks to be a new Amazon Fresh Store. I wonder if Amazon will change the name of Wholefoods to their actual name? Time will tell. I look forward to returning to this Staples store. I might find something I can use. We will keep this in mind, but only after remodeling our bathrooms and kitchen area first. read more

DO NOT USE! I would give zero stars if I could. I tried to order copies of our annual holiday newsletter online. Because the online instructions were confusing, I made the point of calling the store as soon as it opened the next morning to describe what I was looking for. The person on the phone seemed to understand, but when I arrived to pick up the order it was completely screwed up - wrong orientation, wrong size, etc. The arrogant individual who appeared to be the supervisor at the Staples print center insisted that it was my fault because I'd clicked the wrong box on the order form despite the fact that I'd given explicit instructions over the phone. Blaming the customer -- the worst possible customer service! Fortunately I had not pre-paid online, although I had requested rush service for an additional $150 charge. When I pointed that out and asked how soon they could print a correct order, the individual said they couldn't do the job until 9 hours later that evening. I walked out and got excellent service at the FedEx print desk down the road. They had the whole job done right in 90 minutes at lower cost than Staples, including the rush charge. I came to Staples to return a web purchase. The interaction with an employee was efficient and pleasant. He answered my questions patiently, which prompted me to ask another, unrelated to my return. "Would you happen to know if this store carries rubber cement?" Yes! He then supplied the precise location in the store. My last interaction was with the cashier. Digital software interface for self-service copiers continues to need attention. It would be great if Staples hired someone to do the software design and not use the 'CEO's teenage nephew'. Why do I need to wait on the software telling me the machine is working and not allowing me to move to my next print. Making prints now takes longer than making hard copies used to be. And ... It is disgusting self service to require me to constantly reset print parameters so I am not paying higher prices for color prints. If I want color prints I would select color prints. And ... Put some ink in the copiers!!! Too many of my prints were coming out inconsistently with barely legible grey instead of black. I quit and am taking my business elsewhere. read more

This review is well overdue-My wife and I were married on October 18th of 2019 and had everything set and in place until we remembered the day before the wedding that we did not make the wedding programs. We had sent the job to Staples but it was backlogged and would take 2 days. We went in early the next morning and spoke to the manager who was the nicest man. It literally takes 20 minutes to get a laptop and get it paid for. I meant to write this review last week after I experienced EXCEPTIONAL service from the General Manager (Layth Hadman). I just started a new business and needed to print up some color fliers. I called the store to ask how much they charged and explained what I was trying to do. I had the good fortune of Layth answering the call and he told me to come down to the store and he would take care of me. True to his word, Layth was at the store when I went later that day and he personally took care of me. He was so supportive of a small new business owner he gave me a really great business discount, but more than that his customer service was second to none. I had the opportunity to watch him interact with other customers and he was just as attentive to every single one of them. Layth gave me his business card when I left and told me to contact him for any business needs which I REALLY appreciate. Starting a new business (especially in today's world) is scary enough and having an ally is priceless. I don't generally yelp, and I can't stand people that do it all the time, but in this case I had to say something. You guys need to get a new vendor for your credit card processor. I spent more time up front with the checkout lady trying to get some "trick" to work with getting my card to process than I spent looking for the item I needed...and I was there for a while. I even said out loud, "I'm getting ready to go to another store because this is taking so long." The place where I really started to get pissed off was when I asked to speak to a manager to give him/her my thoughts on this, and the lady said they didn't have a manager there. I'm going to guess it's because she thought I disapproved of how she handled things and was going to get her in trouble (I thought she did fine considering the crappy hardware she was working with). To which I said out loud, "you're going to lose all of your customers if they have to deal with this crap." In any event, are sales down at this location and you're wondering why? I visited this location staples yesterday evening. I was ready to buy two furnitures and asked for availability one of the employees was helpful but didn't know much what is going on so he called the manager. The manager came out, rude person he wouldn't address me directly when I asked him questions and seemed uninterested to sell the furnitures. After saying few words to the employee he went back and nothing much happened after that. The employee came back after a while and said one of the item I wanted wasn't available with color I wanted but he didn't bring the second furniture. A necessary evil. You need office supplies. It's convenient to your office BUT the service is HORRENDOUS. You end up driving back and forth between two Staples locations. One tells you that the other has inventory. The other tells you that they actually don't have the inventory. The sales person won't price match and you don't understand why. Then you finally get so aggravated that you are compelled to write a Yelp review at the store using their computers. You could've explained THE FIRST TIME that you can't price match because some items are on clearance depending on the size of the store. Alternatively, you could have also provided the customer with other suggestions rather than walk away. In this story, you is actually me. But I'm guessing that my experience could mirror yours one day too. I would make a larger commmotion if I felt it necessary. But I'm debating between purchasing a computer from Best Buy since the Staples Rewards probably isn't enough to keep me here. But then again, I need a desk organizer. This store really only has a couple good associates. If you need help with things, it may take a while, up to 15 minutes, to find someone that can help. Even then when you do get help, it generally has not been great at all. Some of them literally just read what's on the tags which is something that most people can do on their own. Unfortunately, this is one of the only office supply stores in the area and I am forced to come here or make a long trek to another store. If you are looking for a printer, there is one guy that I talked to that actually knows what he is talking about. I wish I remembered his name though. read more
